If you have SSDI, you do get medicare after 2 years. Normally that's the wait time and it kicks in as soon as you get your "fully favorable" letter. My case worker at the social security office was a hugh help in all that had to happen after I was approved. I also got a letter explaining everything better well, I had minor children at the time so it involved them also. If you have minor children you get ss for them also until age 18.
