Angry Never going back to the idiot!!!!!!!

Right now, I am crying so hard. I went to my pain Dr. for the last time!! he came in, touched my hand and said;"Oh my gosh" .. (my hand was ice cold!) he then ordered me more neurotin.. then, started getting ready to leave. I said ;"hey, hold on?? what else are you going to do"?? he said your RSD has spread and I don't know what to tell you? I'm like.. what????? he then said .. I will take another look at your MRI that your surgeon did. I said, then what. he got mad and said.. "what do you want me to do, get it tonight?? I started crying and he said, I know your in pain, and I understand. I said do you have RSD?? do you ever feel hot steak knives going into you?? My husband took one look at me after I left his office and told the guy off. He said;"she will not be coming here anymore, ya quack"!! what a total jerk. I can't stand this pain, it's cold here again in Ohio. I'm sad, angry, upset, and in extreme pain!! He also told me to just go on up to Clev. right now and go to the ER. He said, then they will have to take you now instead of in August. ohhhhhh.. I'm really upset.. vent done. thanks all!!! Love, Desi

I hope you can find someone that has the knowledge and the competence and the CARING to help you.

Thumbs up quack doctors

Desi,
I am truly sorry that you had to go through what you did with that doctor and congrats to your husband for telling him where to go. It is great when you can have someone to stand up to idiots such as the doctor when you can't even move from sheer agony. NO ONE knows what RSD is like until they go through it. People can sympathize but to stand there and say he knows your pain is insane. Unfortunately, I had two doctors do something like that to me...one was when I went to the ER for extreme pain in Aug 2005 and lie in the ER room and no one would touch me because the doctor thought I was a drug addict trying to get pain medicine from him but I fixed him good the next day when I told the Physician of the three ERs in my area exactly just what he did and how he did it. Then, the other time was in Oct 2006 when I went to Workers Comps "neurologist and pain management doctor that they have researched so well." He yanked on my arms, legs, feet, head so badly that I cried out in agony for him to stop it and told him he was not touching me again. I then was in severe agony for 9 days straight and thought I was going to die from all the pain. I couldn't even get out of bed. My poor son had to take care of me. It was horrible and all the WC nurse could say was "Oh, he did a thorough exam" and "She didn't see anything he did wrong." I about lost it on her and told her I would not take my cat to see him. I also did some research and found out [via the Internet] that he was NOT a neurologist and only subspecialized in pain mgmt. She lied to me then when I questioned her she said it was a miscommunication and later said she never said that. Her problem is that she said it to another of my doctors and she was busted!!! I have never spoken to her since 12/06 and refuse to speak to anyone except when they email me or send me letter via the post office. It is amazing what insurance cos/doctors will do and say when you are in the worst pain of your life. I will keep you and all the people that have RSD in my prayers each night. You need to seek a kind compassionate doctor that will take the time with you and treat you like a human being in pain. He is an idiot. I don't know how these doctors stay in business. Best of luck to you and hang in there. Tell your husband I said he is the best!!!

You know some doctors think they know it all, and some could give a rats *** unless you have body parts falling off.

I will tell you though that having this crazy RSD for the last 7 years has been a whirlwind of pain and suffering that most doctors dont even understand. Most would rather label us as certifiable whacko, or just plain be uncaring.

It took me a while to find a good doctor, but the staff sucked lol. This doctor told me there was really nothing that could be done for me. All he could do was cry with me and give me something to make me more comfortable. Just doing that was a great relief even though the something to help me be comfortable really didnt work lol.

I hope you can find a doc that cares. I know it is hard, but keep lookin cause they are out there.

Thumbs down aww nasty doc..

Hi Jen
I am so sory your doc was such a jerk to you.. it sounded to me like he may have been flustered or perhaps intimidated by the spread ect.. his "ohh my gosh" at the coldness etc..

My concern is for you finding another doctor who is on board with the scope of the involvement of your RSD, so many doctors do not believe that spread happens, expecialy if you are (I presume) early into RSD (sory my memorys shot).

Please don't get me wrong he was very impatient with you and rude (understatement) to snap at a patient in pain AND I hope he can't sleep with feeling so bad for what he did, but most likely he is one of those docs with nasty bedside manners and he was having a realy bad day and he was frustrated at having no answers for you and delt with it very badly.

Either way I would write a note to him explaining how it went how you felt, why it was wrong and asking him to reply back on this issue. this will I think at the least make you feel better, but it may make him sit up and think of it from the patients view, and mabie the next RSD patient he see's will not have to go through the same crap.

Asking him to reply is crutial to his treatment for his ailment (nastyness), and a part of his recovery process should he see fit to join the HUMAN race, some doctors are just too full of themselves to apologise but if they can find it in their big ego's it will make them a better doctor for it.

Or just go on as you are I am sure you have considered all this and perhaps he wasn't your regular doc just a specialist or you have more docs on board with your progress, I just wanted to help you think of the obstacles in the doctor hunting world, here where I am I have to first prove/show docs that RSD can spread it's like they are in the dark ages and never read their books (lol but realy not funny)

My docs are getting there and I just about quit each of my docs at least once, and we all get along better for me telling them how I feel about the care I get, I do it so'as to not upset the delicate ego but to make therm think of it from my side.

One doc I left for much the same reason but I regret it some days now, he too was a pompus fool but a thourough one unlike some other's.

Nice to see your significant other is protective and suportive too.

Good luck and Hugs,
Sandra

Note Thank you all!!

Kathy[COLOR="Blue"]Barb, had to LOL at your post. I love the "jackass" LO.. Your right, Barb, I got the "jackass" out of my life. He was supposed to call me back today about the MRI from my surgeon.... (probably will call in a few days, saying;"I will need a block for another area of my body" I am usually a very nice person to Doctors. This Dr. is just down right rude.. mr. know it all! I tried being nice to him in the beginning.. gave me some hope talkin' about the blocks.. until I had them that is! Oh, by the way.. Yesterday when I was there in his office and I asked him(I wanted to see what he had to say?) LOL Anyway, I asked him, ;"What are the signes of a good ganglionneck nerve block??".He said:" stuffed right or left nose(depending on what side you had your block done on) also he said droopy eye, (horners?? eye) sometimes blood shot, often, warm sensation going through the limb"(My case, it would be my right arm) I then said;"well, guess you botched two of them, because I didn't experience any of thos! The 3rd. one, however, you did get right. but my pain is still intense". I then said;"As soon as you inject the needle, you walk out, you don't use fluoscopic guidance, so how do you know if you got it(the block) right?" Well, he didn't know what to say. ( I forgot to mention all this yesterday, as I was very upset and angry.) Thanks, Barb! Love, Desi
Dawn, your little pictures made me LOL too Gosh, itI needed laughter. Oh, yea.. Bill(hubby) wanted to beat the dude up Thanks for your reply and Dawn! Love, Desi
Kathy, Thank you, I told Bill how he was greatly talked about on this thread, he was so proud.. LOL Kathy, your so right.. no one knows what RSD is like, until they go through it Kathy, I am so sorry what you had to go through!! OMG.. I truly am so sorry what you .. that Dr.(another idiot) yanking on yor arms, feet and legs!! and lad up for 9 whole days! (must have seemed like an eternity!) I am floored!!! what a loon!!! Thanks, Kathy again. Love, Desi
Moonstar, Thank you. Don't give up! Your loved here and we feel your pain, fusteration, anger.((Hugs Moonstar)) Love, Desi
True, allen.. about Dr.'s do not give a "Rat's *** unless we have body parts falling off.. LOL(Oh, the visual too funny! thanks for the chuckle, Allen! Your right also, about most Doctor's do not "understand", and do consider us whacko or uncaring. You have a great Dr. that actually cried with you, Allen. I will keep looking for a new doc.(Maybe in Clev.) Thanks again, Allen. Love, Desi
Thank you Sandra. Yes, I am early diag. with RSD(April) Yes, terriable(PD) and bad bedside manners. I just hope and pray that he either get more considerate and compassion. I do not want pity... but..'cmon, this Dr. is just way out of hand[. I agree with you about some (most Dr.'s) live in the dark ages when it comes to RSD. Thanks again for your support, Sandra! Love, Desi/COLOR]

OMG, Sandel, thank youuuu! I needed a laugh really badly tonight, and you were there for me

Desi, your last post makes me feel better, you have your sense of humor back I sure hope & pray that things get better for you quickly. Have one of my spoons, please... they aren't doing me any good right now anyway. <sigh> I'd give you more, but I have to manage to go to Wal-Mart today. Been shopping at the corner 7-11 too long now, getting too expensive.

Tell Bill I said thanks too. My Michael is like that too, scared off one Dr., had the quack shaking in his boots. We haven't seen the guy since, even though we still go to the same clinic and see a different Dr..... me thinks he's hiding, lol! But the more hubbies we have standing up for us with Dr.s, the better... I think they should be afraid, physically. It seems the only way to get them to understand pain is to threaten them with some of their own!
