Debbie D 01-05-2010 01:47 PM

Hello everyone,
just got back from a massage...it was hard to get up...so cozy and warm, so relaxed:rolleyes:
Wiz, hope you're doing okay on your second day...we're all thinking of ya!
Sandy, you're a gem of a daughter...and Jim's a gem of a SIL, too...
Kitty, dogs are better in bad weather. If the power goes out, they're bigger, so there's more of them to keep me warm!! Hope you all survive this bad weather...

The leg spasms finally seem to be letting up a little. I'm not being awakened in the middle of the night by them anymore, and I seem to be walking a bit better. I just can't stand for very long before they start aching. This has been going on for months now. How long are these types of things supposed to last, anyhoo?

Well, I'm off soon to take MIL to the glaucoma specialist. Her pressure was through the roof last month...surgery might be on the horizon if it hasn't gone down.:(

Have a great afternoon, all!:)

FinLady 01-05-2010 04:12 PM

Time to uncross my fingers ~ have to break down and call the doc tomorrow. My sniffles that haven't subsided appear to be approaching sinus infection level. I'd say Defcon 3 in that department. Yippee Skippee. Have been doing well too, but getting ye olde signs. Even used some massive decongestants the past month or so, and it hasn't touched it.

Have a meeting tonight, so gonna rest a bit before. Take care all.:hug:

TwoKidsTwoCats 01-05-2010 06:00 PM

I survived! The prep like to have got me though...avoid the pineapple flavor if you ever have to have a colonoscopy! Everything else went peachy. No problems spotted and I'm good to go for 10 years.

Kelly, we are hearing that 3-4 inches of snow is possible on Thursday. Our temp today was 6 yes 6... this morning. I just pray it doesn't sleet or rain. No one here knows how to drive in it.

Jackie, I hope you are feeling ok after the accident.

Hope everyone has had a good day!

barb02 01-05-2010 07:33 PM

Pam -- Congrat's on the good results.:) I almost feel cheated that I did not have the fill colonoscopy after doing the prep. I am scheduled for another one in May 2011.

I am not spending too much time on the computer as it is not too comfortable for me to sit here. but I am quickly reading all of your posts.

We are expecting 5-7 inches of snow tomorrow tonight/Thursday with a lot if wind and drifting. I plan on going to the grocery store tomorrow to stock up fruits and veg's before the storm. I also have an appointment for a haircut tomorrow afternoon. I am just glad we are not back to school yet. Classes start on Monday.

SandyC 01-05-2010 07:33 PM

OMG!!!!! We have the house to ourselves!!! But we're too tired to do anything about it! LMAO

Chris and Bre took Granny out with them. She almost didn't go but Chris told her to get dressed and go. hahaha We're expecting 7-9 inches of snow, yes, snow the next couple of days so she wont be going out much. Plus, the car is at the shop AGAIN. No transportion either.

ewizabeth 01-05-2010 08:01 PM

I woke at 4:15 am before the alarm was supposed to go off (5:45) so I was exhausted today. I'm hitting the sack here soon so you all have a good Wednesday cause I should turn in and hopefully get much-needed sleep tonight.

It was one of those weird dreams that woke me. This guy was standing in a room with me and pulled out a saber type sword and said he was going to cut me up. That woke me up pronto. :p  So I tossed and turned until the alarm went off.

WOW! That would have freaked me out too. They say dreams are our sub-conscious telling us something.

So, I looked up a few key words. :p

To dream that you have been killed or going to be killed, suggests that your actions are disconnected from your emotions and conscience. Alternatively, the dream refers to drastic changes that are happening in your life. There is a characteristic that you want to get rid of or a habit that you want to end within yourself. Killing represents the killing off of old parts of yourself and old habits.

The sword can be seen as a phallic symbol and thus represent masculine power. Identify with the possessor of the knife and discover if you are repressing angry feelings. The knife is also reminiscent of the ‘sword of truth’ that cuts through falsity and ignorance, or the will to cut away false desires.

It can also represent the male, ahem, ummmm, ... :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO:

Vonn07 01-05-2010 09:15 PM

hey Wiz ... maybe it means that the 'other' job is the one for you!! that this one is going to 'kill' you emotionally .. wasn't this the one with being on your feet alot?? and the other one was more 'up your alley' ...?? ... but, Sandy sounds better ..

sorry - I'm pooped too .. I wrote a letter to my lawyer - mailed it yesterday, he got it this morning! .. then called at 10a .. I didn't plug the phone in until noon, called ... and still waiting ... but, the phone is now unplugged to get some sleep ...

suppose to see my PCP for follow-up on Friday ... but, with the snow storm coming around the corner .. don't know ...

I'm going to call it a night, too ... exercising and eating very good .. and have already dropped 5 lbs ... 25 to go ... back to my Army weight in 1983 ..

sabimax 01-06-2010 06:32 AM

Vonn, weight wise, I gotta find a way. Has anyone here just gained during no different eating habit or moving habit?? maybe since 40 my metabolism took a crash... anyhow... I have always been overweight since my first pregnancy... and few month ago was down 5 ish from norm.... now have had a few bouts of constipation stuff that is not normal for me... and just currently went up like 5-7 lbs in few weeks...ugggg

I will check with doctor, gotta make apt for pap test, and soon enough due this year for colonoscopy... which is good as I am a bit wondering about the constipation stuff going on... and will discuss the back unusual uncomfy feeling I keep getting... I mean I have had the back issues with spasm and pain... but lately also if laying down on back like relaxation pose in yoga... the lower back is too uncomfy feeling... Hard to explain.. can not stay in laying down ....

anyhow, just wondering if the back could be something other...

I will check it out... colonoscopy... no fair who said they are clear for 10 years!! I had to start five years ago after my sis had the colon cancer.. and although no polyps have to have one every five years. My other sis was told now that dad too had it, should do every 3 years  but rather prevention then late finding something!!

hugss all, heading to work, sarah

tkrik 01-06-2010 08:39 AM

Good morning everyone!

Pam - Many people don't know how to drive in that weather here either. They get crazy. Glad your colonoscopy went well.

Debbie - After my 1st documented major flare, it took me a year to overcome all the stuff that was going on with my left leg. I still have trouble with it off and on but nothing like it was. Hang in there!

Sandy - Glad your mom went with Chris. That was so nice of Chris to do that and good for the both of them to spend that time together.

Wiz - That was quite the dream!!! Glad it was just a dream.:p

Vonn - Congrats on the 5 pounds! That's awesome!

Fin - Hope you sinuses start clearing up soon.

Barb - Hope you are feeling better today.

Sarah - Hope you start feeling better as well.

Hi everyone else! Hope you are doing well too. Have a good day all!:grouphug:

soxmom 01-06-2010 12:08 PM

Hello everyone!

I wish I could respond to everyone but I am so brain dead right now,
I cant organize a thought!:o

Just know I am wishing you all the best and hugs to go around.:grouphug:

My sick child went back to school today. I tell you between skiing accidents,
the flu, and having all my kids back home for the month, I am really beat!

There is a steady stream of company everyday between friends, girl
friends, and family.

Also My mom retired yesterday from the college she has worked at for
25 years. Yay mom!
\
So...I just went grocery shopping(yikes) and now I will rest for a few
hours before; the little ones come home.

Love to you all!

barb02 01-06-2010 01:31 PM

Went into school this morning to write a few letters of recommendation and do a few other tasks. I am not ready for classes to start next week. I also went to the grocery store, and I am leaving in a few minutes to go get my hair cut. While I am gone, my cleaning lady is coming. It usually only takes her 2 1/2 hours, but she has not been here for a month so I imagine it will take longer. I plan on hibernating during the next few days. This particular snowstorm sounds evil. Hopefully, the weather forecasters are exaggerating.

Debbie D 01-06-2010 03:21 PM

Barb, the predicted totals keep increasing up here in Chicagoland every hour, it seems. It's now predicted to snow up to one foot:eek:
I'm making homemade chicken soup and banana bread...comfort!!!:D

Batten down the hatches!!!!!

barb02 01-06-2010 05:04 PM

Okay, I won't complain about the snow here. They are saying 5 to 8 inches but the low temperatures and wind seems to be more of a concern. It is extremely flat here so the highways are rather dangerous when the snow starts blowing.

I ended up getting high lights and low lights in addition to a cut. So $82.00 later, my hair is looking pretty good. "It is better to look good than feel good." I couldn't believe how many people at Christmas told me how good I was looking.

sabimax 01-06-2010 06:03 PM

lol Barb, I guess I better do something with my hair then so I look good...

hey all snow forecasted here too but not much just a few inches.. but we are suppose to head hour north tomorrow for dental apt for Ciara... and it is suppose to be more like 4 inches there... the roads up area just is really bad when snowing... maybe we will cancel the drive up...

feeling out of it, so yes snow must be on way tonight a bit, just numb/tingling face.. and feeling duhhh out of it mind wise.. and a bit dizzy slightly! Hoping the dizzy does not develop worse.. hugss, sarah

ewizabeth 01-06-2010 07:43 PM

Hi Everybody! :grouphug:

I had 8 hours of sleep last night so had a better day but I was 4 minutes late for training today. If you get five lates you can be fired. :o It won't happen again! I was so embarrassed!

Tomorrow I'm going to get up at 5:15am so I can be out of here by 7:15 to drive the four miles to the workplace. (We're expecting a snowstorm, remember.) lol

So, the next three weeks I might stay at one of the hotels closer to work so I don't have to worry about this again. The closer ones are higher priced but I think it will be worth it.

Hugs, prayers, love sent out to all who need them and even those who don't think they need them.

Wish me luck being up here in this traffic and this storm that's coming! :grouphug:

barb02 01-06-2010 09:30 PM

Wiz -- Good luck and be careful!

TwoKidsTwoCats 01-06-2010 10:11 PM

Stay safe out there board buddies! We have school systems closing left and right here in north AL and TN. With the number of buses I've seen broken down because of temps under 20F, I can't say I blame them. I've been reading comments on the local newspaper and tv station sites with lots of folks complaining and making fun of the "rednecks".... but they forget that we don't have salt/sand trucks and snow plows available down here! I sure don't want to see a bus load of kids sliding off into the ditches of these 2 lane country roads with no shoulders!

I over did it today while shopping. I'm paying big time for being up on my feet too long. Let's just say... Barb, I'm feeling your pain...especially while sitting. I had to run get supplies for that end of things to.:o

:grouphug: to all

We've already got school's closing early tomorrow in anticipation of this snow/ice event. I guess they don't want stranded busloads of kids here, either! You're right....we don't have the resources to handle weather like this. Our meteorologists, though, just seem to go into overdrive when there is the least little chance of winter weather here. All they're predicting for the metro Atlanta area is a dusting with accumulation of (maybe) 1 inch. North Georgia mountains might see up to 3 inches. But, they've been wrong before. Like the blizzard we had in Match of 1993. Now that was a snowstorm! :p

Ya'll be careful, Pam. It looks like you'll be getting more of it than we will here.

FinLady 01-07-2010 08:49 AM

Morning everyone :) The snowstorm is not quite here yet, but it has time... We've had some closings in anticipation to it too.

The doc is having me try one more thing before I go see him. Don't really have the pain that comes with an infection, so he wants to see if we can do other things to loosen up this congestion. We'll see. :)

Yesterday slept a lot and today just plain numb. Glad I took a typing class when I was in high school, LOL! Otherwise I'm sure it would take much longer to get these words on the screen. Can barely feel the keys.

Take care and stay safe everyone! :grouphug::grouphug:

soxmom 01-07-2010 09:11 AM

Everyone who is in the thick of these storms and cold....stay safe. warm
hugs to all of you!:hug::hug::hug:

I am going into school today to make paper hats with my son's class. The
teacher saved the extra difficult hat for me! Yay! I spent lots of time
last night trying to figure the durn thing out...I think I have it down.:o

Onward...........:hug::hug::hug:

Kitty 01-07-2010 09:58 AM

The clouds are rolling in this morning. But they keep pushing the actual snow we're supposed to get to later in the evening. It'll just snow overnight and we'll wake up to the white stuff tomorrow. Then the fun begins....all these people who don't know how to drive in it will be on the roads.

We have a new thrift store that's opened here and it's not even 2 miles from me! It's called Park Avenue Thrift and I got two coupons in the mail yesterday for 50% off my entire purchase on January 4,5,6 & 7 and then on January 11,12,13 & 14. They advertise all the designer clothes and even housewares, books and electronics. I can't wait to check them out.

Everyone have a good day...stay warm and if you go out please be careful. :grouphug:

SandyC 01-07-2010 10:24 AM

Morning all. So far we have about 3-4 inches. 5-7 expected today with 3-5 overnight. My snow blower will get a workout today! This is not unexpected here in upper Illinois but usually Indiana gets the largest snowfall. I hate to even think about what they will get if we're getting this much.

Anyway, have a good day everyone and stay warm and safe.

tkrik 01-07-2010 10:33 AM

Good morning everyone!

No snow here. LOL I know, that was mean. :p

Today I am going to my parents house to help them out. I need to pick lemons off their tree. My dad started chemo and is feeling a tad bit under the weather and my mom can't do the lemons because of her balance and tremors. I told her I would give it a shot.:D This sounds weird but I am hoping it will help my wrist/arm.

Have a good day everyone! Stay warm and stay safe in the nasty weather many of you are having right now.:grouphug:

SandyC 01-07-2010 10:36 AM

Trish, I am going to call you. I haven't forgot. With mom here it seems I never get enough time these days. I don't know why. haha

barb02 01-07-2010 10:41 AM

Pam -- Gentle !

Jenn -- sorry about the sinus issues and numbness. Are you having a flare?

We have had about 4 inches of snow so far, but it is coming down rather heavily right now. Supposed to get a few more inches this afternoon through tomorrow morning. The wind appears to be getting worse and the snow is really blowing. All the schools are closed around here. I am so glad we have not started classes yet, as they never close the university during the day. Occasionally, they will cancel evening classes.

They are starting furloughs at the University of Illinois. Hiring freezes and spending freezes are in effect everywhere. My university is having four meetings next week regarding furloughs. Faculty here cannot be furloughed as we are in a union, but negotiations over furloughs will be starting at some point. I am expecting layoffs next. My position is safe because I have been here forever:rolleyes:, but it will mean bigger class sizes and increased teaching loads.

OH - that's on the OTHER side of the clouds! .. hmm, I think that's where Anne is!!

it's white - and then more white, and white in the sky, on the ground ...

I love it ..

finished a red/white/blue stars/flag table runner yesterday, made a pillowcase that I had purchased as a kit a while back!

I'm huddled in a warm cozy blanket, eating lunch and pouring down the water. I now have a UTI brewing. When it rains it pours! Except outside... we're getting a winter mix of rain and snow. Nothing sticking, but with temps near 17 tonight, tomorrow will not be good for traveling workers. I pray they cancel school again tomorrow.

I read posts since yesterday, but can't remember much. My poor brain goes into lag mode when the barometer starts fluctuating. :grouphug: hugs to all !

sabimax 01-07-2010 03:27 PM

My head goes into fog mode too during the humidity going up!! '

I did make the trip hour away for Ciara apt, roads were blahhh from some snow, but they are getting worse later today or tonight in forecast!

She however did get sick on way up, think motion sick like I do.. she was asking me to take off her coat.. but with the snowy roads i did not want to pull over for a jacket off ... maybe should have so that I could have avoided maybe the stop on side of road to clean up puke ewwwwwwwwwww

I warned the nurse there that her shirt smells due to car sickness, and she kind of looked at me with hopes that it is only car sickness not flu..

well, resting not much, hubby and I might go out to dinner at a small place right in our small town. I think before that I will take a walk.. hugsss, sarah

supermoo 01-07-2010 05:45 PM

Hi all. I'm sorry not been on much Got to much c**p flying around at moment, what TN and my throat is not right. Hospital appointments have been cancelled due to bad weather. How your country must laugh at our silly little Islend and snow :p Hope your all ok. Love you all. :grouphug::grouphug:

ewizabeth 01-07-2010 07:38 PM

Hi Everybody!

I had Thai food and now I'm sleepy so going to bed in a few minutes. I need to get up at 5am so I can pack my stuff and check out. Then after work tomorrow I'll hit the road for home and family, my bed, and my kitty cats! :D

Debbie D 01-08-2010 03:29 AM

Hello all,
Up in the middle of the night...again...sigh...
Wiz, have a safe trip home...it's snowing again as I look out the window...
ugh...

FIL complained again about their neuro last night...I got a bit upset...told him, "They're a dime a dozen...we can find another one if you don't like him..." he backed off. He thinks he doesn't need meds for parkinson's even though he walks at an 80 degree angle (with a walker), shuffles his feet, and has developed a tremor...and he thinks MIL has a great memory...even though she couldn't even remember how to deal cards last night:eek:. My DH doesn't understand why his dad's attitude upsets me so...neither do I...:(

Hope any weather by you all isn't stopping you in your tracks...there's a lot of crummy weather around the world...weird...

barb02 01-08-2010 10:49 AM

Good morning. It is eleven degrees here, with a wind chill of -8. Schools are all still canceled. I pan on staying home again today. I am going to try to back my car up to my mailbox once the mail is delivered since I did not venture out yesterday. So that is my exciting day. Still dealing with pain, but it is better than it was. So I hope I am improving.:o

SandyC 01-08-2010 10:57 AM

Morning all. I am getting cabin fever being stuck in the house with everyone. Is it wrong to want to go check into a hotel? LOL I am not sure what to do today. Maybe run the mop over the floors? Clean the bathroom?

Deb,

Barb, glad your feeling better.

Wiz, I know your happy to get back home!

Everyone have a great day!

Kitty 01-08-2010 11:15 AM

We got snow last night!! Just a dusting of about 3/4". It's real powdery and blows everywhere if you walk on it. There are places on the roads with black ice and there was a 29 car pileup this morning on the Interstate.

DS went into work and called when he got there to let me know the roads were clear but not much traffic. It's very sunny here today - the glare off the snow on the grass is blinding! It's cold, tho, and not expected to get out of the 20's. I think Monday will be our warmest day - in the 40's.

I dread getting my gas bill. The heat has been running constantly it seems. I have it set on 68 degrees but it seems to always be on. It makes my skin so dry.....I'm itchy and using lotion by the gallon!

There is a cat huddled up beside the house this morning....right under the window where my cats sleep. They both spotted him and both are sitting at attention with their tails flipping back and forth. I feel so bad for this kitty.....it's so cold outside. Way too cold for animals to be exposed to these kind of elements.

I need to go take a shower and get dressed but it's just too cold! I don't want to get out of my "granny gown"! :o

Stay warm, ya'll, and be careful in this weather. :grouphug:

FinLady 01-08-2010 11:16 AM

Sandy, not wrong, just human. :)

Barb, it's possible I could be starting a flare up. Just wanted to sleep my life away the past few days, and my MS grab bag is pulling out some stuff I haven't seen for awhile. But if the sinus stuff doesn't clear up by Monday, I'll be calling my GP again.

Sarah, sorry to hear about the trip for the little one to her appointment. Hope it was only motion sickness.:hug:

Debbie, :hug::hug:

Everyone, hoping you stay safe and warm today. :grouphug::grouphug:

It's hard to watch those we love decline in health. And it's even harder for them to admit that things are changing and they might need more help than they're already getting. It's a scary thing. My Dad used to resist any help at all until he just got to the point where it was impossible to ignore.

I remember when I had double vision almost 5 years ago. I was so scared that I'd have to have some sort of assistance forever. It was so hard to deal with. Especially after being independent for so long.

You're a wonderful DIL to your DH's parents. You love them and it upsets you to see them struggling. It's a natural and understandable reaction. I felt the same when my Mom and sister were battling Alzheimer's....and then again when my Dad had his stroke. It's just hard to watch and a helpless feeling when they look to you for help and there just isn't much you can do. I'm keeping you and your inlaw's in my prayers.
