Debbie, :hug::hug:
~~~~~~~ I had some get up and go yesterday, now it got up and went. :confused: Trying to find it again. Have some stuff I want to get done today. Ah well, at least the coffee is still here. :D Take care everyone! :grouphug::grouphug: |
Morning all! Mom's Box B came yesterday from fedex. That means she only has half a recliner. LOL Box A is on the truck to be delivered today. Her laptop doesn't show that it's on the truck so she probably wont get that until later.
I got the dumb idea to run to McDonald's last night to get a milkshake. I was craving one. Well, that darn milkshake kept me up all night with tummy cramps. Sometimes milk does this to me, sometimes it doesn't. Ugh I am good today though! Mom is still doing fine. We had a small tiff last night over her forgetting something but I just finally said I am not arguing with you and we went our separate ways. It actually worked! It was about some money she gave my sister and was claiming she wanted sis to send back what she didn't use. I was standing there when she told sis over the phone she could have $200. Nothing was mentioned about returning what was left over after groceries. As if anything would be. :rolleyes: Sis has three kids and I am sure she used it all. Anyway, I felt like she was calling me a liar and than I realized this battle wasn't worth it. We will be mindful of this if she pitches in for groceries to have her sign a receipt so we can prove we aren't taking money. Why is it in their older aging they get so suspicious? She even got mad her recliner wasn't fully here even though I told her several times it would come in two boxes. Please don't let me get that way! LOL She rode with me to McDonald's last night and it was like nothing happened. Whew. Jenn, I hope you get your get up and go back today! :hug: Debbie, so sorry your doctor confirmed Alzheimers. :hug: At least you know now and can make decisions for the future. :hug: Have a good day everyone! |
Good Morning! Another sunny and warm day here today. Well, low 50's but that's warm compared to where we were this time last week.
Sandy, when I was handling my Dad's finances for him I used to take his checkbook to him and show him exactly where his money was going. He never asked me to but I know he felt better when I showed him. That was the hardest job I ever did......managing someone else's money. Just the thought of one of my boys taking over my finances makes me nervous. :o Not that I don't trust them.....I just like doing it myself. I'm changing my cable/internet/phone package today so I might be without service for a while until they get the change completed. I don't know what to expect but I'm still up and running now so all is well......for the moment. I'm going to get rid of my land line and just use my SafeLink wireless and downgrade my cable to just the bare bones basic. Internet will stay the same so maybe that won't be interrupted. The changes will save me about $70 a month so I have to do it. Ya'll have a good Friday! :grouphug: |
TGIF!!! Well, I have almost gotten through this first week. I only have one more class to go. And we get Monday off for MLK day. I plan on going to see Up in Air this weekend (George Clooney). Last night my lower leg started to go numb which really scared me. However, today the numbness has disappeared. Now if the stiffness would just loosen up a bit.
Debbie, :hug: Hope you all have a decent weekend! |
Hey all .. I had a wonderful LONG day yesterday ... but worth it .. now I'm recouping from it! LOL
Jenn - is it okay to have morning coffee in the afternoon? lots to do today ... have a great day all you wonderful, precious friends! |
Good afternoon! I read and checked thanks on posts yesterday, was just not able to form complete thought to post. The antibiotic I am taking has kicked the UTI, so I'm not sure what has me feeling like leftover Christmas dinner. :o It is a sunny warm day here. Rain due later tonight. I spent about 15 minutes out in the sun earlier.
Sandy, I think older people get suspicious because they know they don't remember everything. Many of them have witnessed their friends or older relatives be taken advantage of. Has your mom had her blood sugar checked? As we get older it tends to go higher anyway. My mom's has and she gets very mean and ornery when she doesn't eat every 3 hours! As daddy use to say, she'd argue with a fence post til she gets her way.:hug: Kelly, I hope they don't have your internet down too long! I'm lost when ours hiccups now and then. GLad you are warming up too... it helps on the heating costs! I have every curtain pushed back today grabbing that warm sun.:hug: Barb, I hope the spasticity loosens up soon. I have one spot... my hamstring on the left that feels like just half the muscle tightening and having tremors. I look like a Weeble some days trying to walk.:hug: Debbie, I'd glad you checked out ok at the doc. Sorry to hear the verdict on MIL. :hug: A thought about the lump on your abdomen...do you take Copaxone? I had golf ball size/shape lumps on mine the last 3 months I took those injections. Scared the GP when she was doing my pelvic exam! They were only on my ab, not the other shot locations. They went away after I switched to Betaseron. VONN, WIZ, FIN, SOX, :grouphug: Hope every one is getting a little of this warm sunshine today! |
Good afternoon, everybody...Happy Friday!!:D
Pam, I wonder if that's what it is...it's kind of low from where I usually inject on my tummy, since I have a hip-to-hip scar from surgery down low. But you could be right... Ugh, I have been in such a low mood...I'm just trying to let my mind chill, along with the body. No energy to work out or try anything...and I'm so darn cold!! Is this a sxs? Whatever...that's what afghans and sweaters were invented for;) DH wants to go to the boat show in Chicago this weekend. I want to not spend money on a boat...we need to get our kitchen cabinets replaced, along with our oven...it makes small "booms" when it's on:eek: My cabinets are 31 yrs. old, and definitely look it, esp after 4 kids and 2 dogs. Sandy, your mom sounds like she's in mild (or more) cognitive impairment...do you notice wings growning out of your shoulder blades yet? 'Cause you're definitely an angel...:hug: Hope everyone has a great weekend...:) |
Good morning! I just finished cleaning out bedroom closet -- getting rid of clothes I have not worn for a few years or that have seen better days. Now I need to do my other closets. I also just ordered six books from amazon. I had a 30.00 gift card so they only cost me an additional 32.00:rolleyes: I need to do a few errands and may go to the movies later on this afternoon. My "good" leg (I guess it is all relative) is hurting this morning. I feel like I have twisted the lower leg while sleeping. Weird!
Hope you all have a good weekend! |
Morning everyone. Nothing planned for the day. I need to massage Jim's legs and give them a good stretch. Other than that, no big plans.
Barb, sorry about your leg. Hope it's better as you go about your day. :hug: Have a good weekend everyone. :grouphug: |
Rainy Saturday here....but it's in the 40's so no ice!
The cable company came out today to do the downgrade to my cable TV/Internet/Phone package. I no longer have the home phone (will use my Safelink wireless), only have basic cable now which is channels 2-78, and the Internet stays the same. This change will save me about $70 a month so it's a good thing. There is a little black and white kitten roaming around the neighborhood. He's been hanging around for a couple of weeks. He's wild, though, and won't come to anyone. I want to take him in so badly but that would mean a vet visit to make sure he's healthy and then all the preventative care.....and I just can't afford it. I manage to take care of the two I have but that just taps me out financially. He's a cutie, though, and I hope he finds a home somewhere. Well, gotta go transfer some clothes to the dryer. I know you all wonder how I manage such an exciting life......it's hard but I do it. :o :p Have a good Saturday! :grouphug: |
Good morning. I'm moving slow and feel like my head has a balloon inside instead of brain. It is the weather changing... it's raining and about 45. sleeping weather!
Kelly, my life is about as exciting. Eat, sleep and laundry is all the energy I have right now. Sandy, was mom happy with her whole chair?;) Deb, hope you feel better today! Barb, you reminded me I have a $20 Amazon certificate I need to use! I may just give it to my son for his birthday today since I am not venturing outside to go shopping. :grouphug: everyone |
Yep she's happy! She complained about how the stupid reclining arm was hard to work but overall she's happy. haha
|
Went to the bank, post office, drugstore, jewelry store, and dry cleaners. Now I am pooped. Leg is still bothering me. It sort of feels like a twisted ankle does, but instead it is my entire lower leg.
At Christmas, my older sister gave me an emerald and diamond ring that I had always teased that I was going to steal. She bought it a long time ago from an estate jeweler. She has a lot of jewelry, and no longer wears several rings at once like she used to. Her favorite is a huge orange diamond ring. So I took it to the store to get it sized, and they insured it for 2000.00. Now I feel really guilty about taking it. |
Hi Everybody!! :grouphug:
I just did a brief scan of posts, sorry I'm MIA so much lately! I finished week two of training and I was exhausted last night. Fell into bed around 10pm and slept hard for eleven hours. Sandy, Good idea on getting your mom a new recliner. :) Debbie, I'm sorry about the Alzheimer's diagnosis for your MIL. :hug: Everybody else who needs hugs, prayers or just good vibes sent out... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Next week I have data training for four days, and working in the store on Monday. Also more data training on Saturday morning for two hours in the store. There is so much to learn, you just can't imagine! :eek: But it's going great and I can't wait to finish with the training and be comfortable selling so I can start earning my commissions! :D I'm considering switching to their medical plan since it seems to be better than what I have now and cost a bit less too. It's Cigna for the medical, VSP for vision coverage and Aetna for dental. The pharmacy is Medco. I need to talk it over with DH before I decide. I have a few things to do this week then prepare for my next out of town week of training. Have a good weekend everybody!!! :grouphug: :circlelove: |
Saw Up in Air today. Even though George Clooney was very nice to look at the movie was extremely depressing.
|
Good morning, everyone. Happy Sunday!
Barb, thanks for the heads-up on the movie...don't need anything depressing right now:rolleyes: Hope your leg eases up...is it spasticity? Anyway, take care:hug: Pam hope your head didn't explode!:hug: Sandy, hope the arm of your mom's chair eases up so she has one less thing to complain about;) Wiz, glad to hear training is going well. Might want to wait a month before changing insurance...just to be sure this is work you want to do. Glad to hear from you again! We saw a pontoon boat we'd like to buy...but oh my gosh mucho dinnero!! Not sure if that's going to happen this year, but it's on our list... We're probably going to order a vent-free firebox for our fireplace today. I've been trying to talk him into just getting the logs and grate, because when we went to a fireplace store to check everything out, I got a headache, which the salesman said happens to some women when they're in a room with a vent-free fireplace. I'd hate to spend all the extra money if I then won't be able to sit in the same room... We also have to paint my study today...I want to get that room and our bedroom painted before it gets nice outside. My study looks like it has calamine lotion all over the place from DH spackling all the nail holes DD made when she hung her pix/posters in there...I miss her being in that room...:( Anyway, hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!!:D |
MIA there a bit, opps have not been computer much other than a bit of facebook checking in...
hugss all My niece Mary is Aok in Haiti, she finished Notre Dame degree, and before starting for next degree in medicine she is studying... she went to Haiti this past season to help at a school... teaching for a while... so she was there for the awful earthquakes. She is fine, my sister heard from the leader of the group that is in charge of this group. finally the other day they got a quick email from mary herself. now my nephew, other sister, got lots of sisters, hehe he is headed down there with the military to help out!! I am so proud of both, being givers in this world of younger people not caring!! I am ok, about to head to church with some of the kids, tomorrow I decided I would call Neuro office, let them know two vertigo spells have happened where I tried that migrane medicine and no help from it... as he was thinking at least rule out migrane relation I guess. I also will ask about what the ENT once gave me, but never ended up with vertigo before expired meds... valium.... which from others here and reading it can help with vertigo!! we will see, life is busy as always, went to have two wisdom teeth pulled at dentist.... well :( he pulled one..yanked for along time... then the other though the tips that were visible crushed.. so now this week have to go to a oral sergeon.... wahoooo :( been missing just due to busy between work and teeth and all.... I love you all, hugssssssssss,sarah |
I guess it has been a low key day for everyone. Unless you are all extremely busy and that is why there has been no chatter here.;)
|
Yes Barb...just the stirring of daily life...and playoff football:rolleyes:
Sarah, sorry about those teeth issues...that stinks! Hope it's resolved soon... DH and I had a good Sunday...he painted my study's ceiling, then we went researching gas firelogs again...had a nice dinner, then watched football games and Golden Globes... I feel so wonderfully grateful for my life...I need to read that statement every time I feel low. I really have a wonderful life, no offense to George Bailey and all... Hope everyone has a great week...;) |
Morning all :)
Been MIA this weekend since we went out with friends Friday night and it took almost two days to recover. :eek: The dinner was fun. It was a guy singing old sinatra songs, as well as some bing crosby and dean martin. The guy was really good, so that was a good time. Then we went to a quiet hole-in-the-wall bar to talk some more. It was a long night, but enjoyed it immensely. So now trying to get back into the swing of things. Take care everyone. :grouphug::grouphug: |
I've been MIA. I just read here and think about responding. Lately everything is too overwhelming. I'm really not doing well dealing with life. I am so depressed even though I'm on an AD. I really don't want to try to find a new one - this one was working before. I'm scare of weaning off this and trying something else that might or might not work and might or might not have bad side effects.
I have such a bad attitude about everything that I don't like being around me! I keep trying to figure out how to pull myself out of this funk, but haven't come up with any answers yet. I know I probably just need to force myself to get some things accomplished and then I will feel better about myself, but I haven't had any luck convincing myself to get off my butt and do that! I got a new kitten about 1-1/2 weeks ago. She is really sweet and cute. I really thought that would help. She makes me smile, but I'm still stuck in this bad mood. I found her at the humane society and she is a beautiful Siamese. They said she was chocolate point, but the more research I do, I think she is a blue point. Her name is Sapphire. Those who are on FB have seen pics because I can upload them right from my cell phone. I will have to work on getting a pic on here for you guys. That's it for now. Hugs to you all. |
Good afternoon everyone. Been having computer problems ever since we downgraded our cable services but I think it's okay for now. Had to run a couple of scans yesterday that took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I have McAfee Virus Protection so that should cover me. I'm still looking into a laptop. I'd hate for this desktop to bite the dust and leave me with nothing.
DS26 stopped by today. He had been to get a haircut and was on this side of town. He went to Zaxby's and brought us lunch. It was so nice....but now I am so full and want to take a nap! :o Holly, I'd love to see a pic of your new kitten. I love her name. Not doing much today. I'm still in my jammies!! :p It's pretty and warm here today but rain and colder temps will be here by Thursday. Ya'll have a good Monday! :grouphug: |
Hey all! Jim and I are doing fine. Mom's good too. I need to call the senior services to get her enrolled so she can get out a couple days a week. I am also looking at homes, just window shopping, that have inlaw apartments built in. I priced some contractors and they want $30G+ to just put a studio above the garage. Sheesh, nothing is cheap.
Anyway, that is down the line. I asked mom if she wants to rehab and be able to live alone and her response was "What? Are you wanting me to move?" Ugh. I told her no but if she is able to live alone there really isn't any reason for her not to. I think she's lonely. Thanks mom for that guilt trip. hahaha So, an inlaw apartment will be a priority in the next home. Have a good day everyone. :grouphug: |
Holly -- :hug: Sorry you have been going through a rough time. While I understand your reluctance to try a new AD ( I hate trying any new med) you should probably let your doctor know what is going on. Maybe it is time to try something new or even going to a therapist so you can talk about how you are feeling.
Been doing a few chores around the house, watching Clean House on Style TV, and getting ready for the next few days of classes. I fee really neat after watching a few of those shows. I am about ready for a lie down too. I need some sun!!! |
Hey all...Happy MLK day to all...remember the changes he helped bring to our world...
I got called to do volunteer work at a local food pantry from Organizing for America...so I went for 2 hrs. today. Stupid me worked out beforehand so by the time my shift was over my legs were spastic and mad at me...what was I thinking? Two hrs. sorting donated food would have been more than enough exercise for the day...I'll learn to use my noggin some day:rolleyes: Holly, maybe you do need to see someone...if the meds aren't doing it, then some talk-time might be in order...sorry you're still feeling so blue:hug::hug: Sandy, I wish you were Amish and we could have a MIL-room raising party for ya!! Well, hope everyone has a good afternoon/evening!! |
Holly, sorry you feeling blahhhhssss, as others said maybe someone to talk to, at least talk to your doctor. I know the feeling of new meds...hugssss
Sandy, good luck no the new house idea!! hey all, hugsssssssss just chilling, a hard part of work today, giving someone a Performance review that the review is not good....ugggg and then someone else put in two week notice I think.. we will see fun fun on the being the boss!! well hugsss might head out for a walk, hugss,sarah |
Why do antibiotics make me feel so hungry!? I stepped on the scales this weekend, and oh boy. I was doing good until I started that med 11 days ago. I mean I stayed hungry, growling tummy and all. Anyway, now that that is finished I'm left with other side effects of taking antibiotics... some days I feel like ol Don the windmill battling dude (can't think of how to even spell that name today!) :D
:grouphug: to everyone! |
[quote=SandyC;611883 hahaha So, an inlaw apartment will be a priority in the next home.[/quote]
I hope we aren't looking at the same MLS listings! :D We want a MIL type suite in our next place. I have a feeling my mom will need to move in with me in the next couple of years. I have been comparing data of middle TN with where we live now and a couple of other places we would like to retire to. It is amazing the cost of living difference! |
Holly, big bunches of :hug::hug: heading your way.
Sandy, glad your mom is doing a little better. Hope getting her to meet new people in the area she can talk to helps. Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: ~~~~ Sipping my coffee and getting ready for my eye doc's appointment. Love the fact I have to go every 6 months now. :rolleyes: But rather that than the alternative, especially with the issues I've been having. Hoping everyone has a good day. :hug::hug: |
Good Morning! Didn't sleep well at all last night. I woke up every hour on the hour. Cats wanted to eat every single time I got up........they can be so annoying when they think they need food. :rolleyes:
Same exciting plans for today........nothing. Oh, I did get a response on the application I submitted for volunteering for Meals on Wheels delivery. Would you believe they don't have one single route in my area that needs help?! I guess that's a good thing. People are volunteering. They said they'd call me if anything came up or they needed a substitute delivery driver. I emailed them and told them that right now I'm having an episode of ON so I don't drive but will be able to when it clears up. I'm sure that makes them think I'm unreliable. :( Rain is supposed to be here tomorrow night and all day Thursday. It's been in the low 60's this week. Very nice and comfortable and my furnace is getting a much needed break. I'm holding my breath will I get my gas bill for last month. I'm skeered to open it! :eek: :o Ya'll have a good Tuesday. Remember......American Idol from Chicago is tonight! Let's see if ya'll can beat Atlanta's "Pants On The Ground"!!! :D |
Morning all! Jim and I are getting ready to head out to the VA. He's getting a new chair and testing out the exercise machine I showed you guys a while back. We're going alone because we'll need the space in the van for two wheelchairs. Mom will be alone for the first time since October 31st. She says she'll be fine.
Her best friends are insistant she come back to TN. They are looking at an apartment next to one of them that mom could walk to see them. One of the friends is the mom of the other so the daughter promises to make sure mom takes her meds correctly. We'll see. Mom goes back and forth on what she wants so who knows what she'll want come May when she goes down for a visit. hahaha I honestly think she can live alone. At first it didn't seem like it but as time goes by she is getting better. My main concern is her living alone and not eating right, etc. Jim and I are torn. On one hand we like the idea of her making it on her own at such a young age. On the other hand it scares us that she'll get sick again. What can we do though? She is grown and can decide for herself. She is not at a point where we can go to court and demand anything. I told her friends and my sister that if we bring her back down this will be permanant because moving her back and forth is not good for her mental status. Like I said, we'll wait and see what happens. She may get involved here and want to try a place by us. Have a good day everyone. :grouphug: Kitty, I seriously doubt anyone can top Pants on the Ground! LOL |
good morning~!:)
Just went to pt so the hip is sore...Im sitting on a hot pack and it really helps.:) Also voted today...its crazy right now....even with the snow, everyone is out there! Thanks for the support though! We are trying very hard to be understanding and compassionate. Although at times I want to throw myself through a window. :p |
dont throw yourself thru a window sandy...we need you here.
How about a doorway...not quite as dramatic but much safer.:hug: |
Quote:
Hey, even if she did throw herself through a window we know she could repair it herself in less than an hour! :D :cool: |
Another gloomy day here in Central Illinois. I have been geting ready for class, and meeting with a few graduate students.
|
I've been upgraded. :eek: Eyes are even drier than the were before. Since the regular drops aren't working as well as he had hoped, eye doc has me trying out an eye gel right before bed. Since it makes the vision blurry for a few moments, he said it was a literal put in your eye before you get under the covers. Oy! On the plus side, pressure in the eye is stable. :)
Sandy, I agree. You could definitely fix that window. :) Barb, gloomy here too. Missing the sun. Sox, hope the soreness from PT starts getting less for ya. :hug: Kitty, don't think anyone could beat "Pants on the Ground" :D Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: |
Do men ever grow up??? :p Some of the officers my son works with on his shift made a video of themselves (in uniform) singing "Pants On The Ground". :D Since the Sgt. might not find it as amusing as we did I'm not allowed to show it to anyone. It was funny, though!
