It's another slow day for me. Didn't sleep well and took a nap from 9 til 1130. It's dreary and I feel the rain on its way.

:grouphug: to everyone.

Debbie D 01-19-2010 02:27 PM

Good afternoon, my dear friends at NT...I'm sitting in my kitchen with my coat on...the sun warms the living room, which tells the heater thermostat that it's very warm in the house, which makes the north side of the house cold, and I'm too cheap to turn the heat up. So I sit at the puter with my coat on...furbaby keeps bringing me his frisbee...thinks I'm going to take him outside. No way...it's not that warm out...
This morning FIL called...says "I have a toothache." I ask when did this start. "Last Thursday.":eek: Funny, he didn't say anything when DH and I were over at their place on Friday. So to the dentist we go in a short while...of course, I got stressed out about what this will bring in the way of appts. for more tooth extractions, or maybe a root canal. So the intestines start to do the rhumba, and now I feel icky. I need to learn to take things easy and not let it get to me...
Sandy, maybe once she gets some social opportunities, she'll feel more comfortable with you. Or maybe not. If you did move her back to TN, I wonder if you might be able to find a volunteer who can check to see if she's taking her meds correctly. Or a visiting nurse. And maybe they have a Meals on Wheels there, too, to make sure she's eating right. You're a good daughter:hug:

Hope all of you have a good afternoon...keep smilin':)

hollym 01-19-2010 03:29 PM

Sandy - I feel for you. When I first brought my Grandma out, she changed her mind everyday about what she wanted. In my case, there was no option. It was either live with me or in a nursing home because of the dementia. Eventually, she settled in and I never heard another peep. It is a hard situation, but you are right to try and not worry because a lot can happen before May. It will sort itself out.

barb02 01-19-2010 07:23 PM

We are under a freezing rain advisory from 1:00 a.m. until 1:00p.m. I may be taking a sick day tomorrow.

Kitty 01-19-2010 07:43 PM

We're supposed to get torrential rain beginning tomorrow night and continuing through Thursday night.

Pam, you'll probably get it before I do.....you'll have to tell me if it's really as bad as they're making it sound! :eek:

Be careful if you venture out, Barb!

supermoo 01-19-2010 07:55 PM

Hi all I'm sorry not been here much I'm having problems with my TN its worse than its ever been. ewizabeth 01-20-2010 08:31 AM

Morning all... The training is going well but it wears me out. I'll be glad to be finished so I can sleep in my own bed and have my kitties with me. Daisy is starting to follow me around. She's so cute when she's hungry, she squawks like a little bird or something. Rocky has taught her that when the food is being put in the dishes it's time to meow loudly to get it faster. :rolleyes: But her's meow is like a high pitched squeak. :D She's so cute and funny.

This week we learn more about the data features of the phones and also business and government accounts.

Right now I'm in my hotel room finishing my coffee and about to head over to the training building. I'm staying in one that's only about two blocks away now and they have very good service as well as being low priced. It's a Comfort Inn and it really is comfy but there aren't any kitties here. :)

Have a good day dear friends. :grouphug:

FinLady 01-20-2010 08:33 AM

Jackie, sorry to hear about the tooth. I've had to get root canals due to teeth just suddenly breaking, so I know those things can hurt. :hug::hug:

Barb, be careful with the freezing rain. :hug::hug:

~~~~~~~
Morning, morning. Trying to wake up with my usual cup of coffee in hand. Eye doc wasn't kidding. That gel blurs the vision. Thankfully, I could still see my way out of the bathroom last night - LOL!
Woke up feeling a bit off. Not sure if it's 'cuz I just woke up a little while ago or if it's one of the joyful merit badges I've earned. Wait and see type of morn.
Take care everyone!! :grouphug::grouphug:
soxmom 01-20-2010 09:05 AM
tkrik 01-20-2010 09:31 AM
Good morning everyone! Sorry I haven't been on much. In fact, I haven't even lurked.:o It's just been so busy around here lately - company in town, work, car issues, etc. Things are almost back to normal. Phew! Just in time for school to start. LOL
I'm taking a sculptural design class and some other class (haven't quite decided but need to by today). I signed up for a online biology class but am not sure this slow brain can handle it as well as the cost of books/home lab kit (almost $300) which would be the rest of my grant and no left overs for materials for sculptural design. I may take an interior design class that entails sketching, drafting, etc. as I have most the materials (I think) and may be easier on my brain. LOL
I hope you all have a great day!:hug::grouphug:
Kitty 01-20-2010 09:52 AM
Good Morning! Lovely, sunny day today but that's all about to change. Lots of rain heading our way. But the temps will remain in the 40's and 50's so no freezing stuff.
Who watched Idol last night? I got through most of it but fell asleep before the end. I do remember the Tiny Tim man........wow. I thought I might have nightmares after that audition!! I will admit that when he tiptoed across the stage it kinda looked like me trying to run. :o
I need more coffee and then a warm shower. I feel guilty for even saying that after watching the news and seeing the poor people of Haiti waiting for just a bottle of water. Bless their hearts.....they've been through enough. This whole event has had such as effect on me. I just have no reason to complain about anything.
:grouphug: to everyone!
Trish, I wish you luck in picking the class that works for you!
~~~~~

Okay, it took forever - but my experiment is done. I think I want to do more like this, which means saving money for a greater variety in brush sizes. But this was done with what is usually reserved for stenciling. It is called "Lonely Flower".

Kitty 01-20-2010 10:05 AM

I love your painting, Fin! It would be so pretty in a white frame in my guest room!

barb02 01-20-2010 10:23 AM

Love the picture Jenn!

Trish, I think that on line biology could be tough. but then, I have never really enjoyed biology classes. You need an at home lab kit? Does that mean you have to do dissections at home?:eek:

Kelly, I know what you mean about Haiti. When I see the massive suffering there, I feel like a complete baby for complaining about my problems. And now they just got hit with another big aftershock. I can only watch the news for so long, and then it becomes too much.

Pam, what happened in Massachusetts? The election result certainly will make it even more interesting to teach my Congress class this semester.

Well, I was a wimp this morning and called in sick. The streets are not bad, but my driveway and sidewalks are a slushy mess. A friend called me and said she did not have any trouble driving to school, but the parking lots were bad. I did back my car up to my mailbox to mail some bills, and the mailbox was frozen shut. So I emailed my students and went back to bed.:rolleyes: The idea of moving to Austin when I retire is sounding better and better. I can stay in the ac in the summer when it is too hot, and at least I would not have to worry about ice and snow. It was 75 there yesterday and sunny! Something to think about today. :confused: Alas, I have at least two more winters to get through after this one.

Hope everyone is warm and has a good day.

Kitty 01-20-2010 10:28 AM

I forgot to tell you all my good news......NOT! I got my gas bill yesterday for the coldest month I've had in this house. $213.50!! :eek: That's the biggest gas bill I've ever had. I'm lovin' this week 'cos my heat only comes on maybe once during the middle of the night.

Yes! It would also make a beautiful greeting/note card card!!

TwoKidsTwoCats 01-20-2010 11:18 AM

The weather is nasty here today... so far just lots of rain. But these weather changes mess with my head and body so much.... I need a nap. But it will have to wait because I am expecting the termite inspector any time now. The yearly inspection is due. Hopefully all will be clear.

JustWeave 01-20-2010 11:35 AM

I'm here Sox! :Wave-Hello: Was thinking I should post something before everyone forgot about me, then saw I was missed. That warmed my soul.

So what is new with me... Well, I'm still kicking around school and extra income ideas. I have some plans, I just have to get off my butt and put them in motion. Fear is a powerful thing.

I'll be spending this weekend with about two dozen other craft junkies. Bring whatever projects you want to work on and have fun. My fingers are crossed concerning the weather since I am driving myself someplace I've never been. DH fears I'm going to get lost, but it looks very easy to find. Packing myself up for a weekend like this is totally out of character for me. I've been looking forward to it for a long time though.

When I get back I need to give myself quite the lecture and put a stop to all this school/ work/ etc. stalling. If stuff got done by osmosis I wouldn't be in the mess I'm currently in.

As for right now, I need to get back to housework. I have been reading so I do know what is going on. Hugs for everyone. Have a good one. :hug::grouphug::hug:

SandyC 01-20-2010 12:09 PM

Morning all! My you have been busy since I left yesterday!

Nothing big planned today, just some laundry to do.

me too..me too!!!:D

tkrik 01-20-2010 01:52 PM

Oh man! We are so in for it in the west. Over the next few days things are going to get nasty with some hurricane force wind gusts (up to 80 mph in mountain areas and 60 mph gusts in town). YIKES!!! And lots of rain/snow. Maybe I'll go skiing this weekend. j/k There's a ski resort about an hour from my house.

Barb - Yes you do have dissect things in your home. You have to purchase the kit that has everything in it including the microscope. I just have a hard time spending the money on a microscope that I will use for maybe a semester. It comes with the kit so I don't know any way around it. I would love to take the class but . . . LOL Enjoy your "sick" day.

Fin - Very nice!!! It is amazing all the things we can find to paint with. I've used kitchen utensils that I picked up cheaply at thrift stores, cheese cloth, sponges, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, lids from jars, etc. The list can go on. You did a great job.

Sandy - Is there ever an end to your laundry? LMAO Ours (DBF & mine) is all done for the week.

barb02 01-20-2010 01:57 PM

It's a mental health day!:D

TwoKidsTwoCats 01-20-2010 04:42 PM

The termite guy came and went...no bugs!:) yeah! UPS brought my Betaseron...yuck:( So you see the day I've had. Not to mention phone rounds with a charity we donated to. The check cleared my bank, but the endorsement was different from anything I had seen before. Scared me because the day we mailed the letter, the post office was packed, the outside box was packed. We've had people steal letters from the outside box before when it was so full. So finally talked with their accounting service and yep that's how they endorse stuff... seemed odd. They confirmed they had logged the donation.

The sun finally came out for a bit today. :cool:

Tkrik, stay safe in all that wind! I saw the report where there was a tornado in the LA area yesterday.
We have heavy thunderstorms moving in here tonight through tomorrow.

Weave, enjoy your craft day!

:grouphug:

sabimax 01-20-2010 07:35 PM

Sandy does not have as much laundry as me!! lol lets see seven in our house...plus one of them (Ciara princess) loves to take clothes off and change but toss those clothes where you find them later and not know if clean or not lol

Just had the other wisdom tooth removed today, just with numbing mouth... the oral surgeon did a good job as it was quick! but now pain... this time more so than last week... but I do have vicoden.... so that is helping...

hugss all, sarah

SandyC 01-20-2010 08:41 PM

I just went out to put some mail in the box and the entire driveway is a solid sheet of ice. Chris is working late so I will be worried about him coming home. I hate this! I actually looked at houses online for the west coast.

SandyC 01-20-2010 09:07 PM

You think I could talk Jim's doctor into moving with us? He just called out of the blue to check on us and just to say hi. How many docs do that? Jim's still chatting with him after 15 minutes. They are laughing and talking about Xbox and male mumbo jumbo.

FinLady 01-21-2010 10:52 AM

Sandy, that's nice that Jim and his doc get along enough for him to call for a check up. Really cool! :)

Pam, hope today is a better day.

Trish, stay safe!

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

~~~~~~~
New day and trying to figure out what to do. Sometimes getting motivated is a challenge, but hoping I'll get there. :) Thanks everyone for your positive feedback, means a lot to me! :hug::hug:
barb02 01-21-2010 11:47 AM
Got to school at 8:00 this morning. It is just raining today. Will we ever see the sun again? I am all ready for my 11:00 class. We are discussing congressional recruitment and elections today. Fascinating, right? There should be a lot to talk about with the MA election. After class, I have dry cleaning to pick up and the jewelry store called me to tell me that my ring is done. Tonight, I will probably go to my monthly book club meeting if I have enough energy. I have missed the last few, and all of the other members get all concerned about me when I am a no show. I really prefer just putting on my pj's when I get home:rolleyes:.
A grad student just came in to give me a bottle of hard cider that he made. I have heard mixed reviews about his cider. Hmmm -- I did not want to tell him that I did not want it, but I am not sure if I will be brave enough to try it. He is an interesting guy. He also raises bees and sells honey. I would have rather had some honey.:)
Sandy, I have been checking out the cost of renting in Austin, Texas. Enough with the ice!!!
SandyC 01-21-2010 11:49 AM
Morning all! Mom is quiet this morning. I said good morning and she just looked at me. Guess it's going to be a moody day. :rolleyes:
I did not do my laundry and it's climbing up the wall. Guess I better get to it after showers or we wont have clothing to wear. hahaha
Good news! Chris was placed on the sub list and got a call yesterday morning. They pay $100 a day. So now he's a sub and working at Target. In this economy that is a good thing! He's also applying for several teaching positions and talked with a principal a few towns away. Keeping fingers crossed he gets called for an interview.
Have a good day everyone! :hug:
SandyC 01-21-2010 11:51 AM
Barb, poor Bergie, our lab, slipped all the way down the ramp to go out. I don't have salt to lay down but even if I did I'd be concerned about her romping through it.
TwoKidsTwoCats 01-21-2010 11:51 AM
Good morning everyone. :) I actually had a good night sleep for once! Now to figure out how/why and repeat often!!
Other than paying bills and hitting the laundry stacks...I have a slow day ahead. :Wave-Hello: Might even find the motivation to tackle a closet today.
:grouphug:
soxmom 01-21-2010 12:19 PM
Those with weather woes....stay safe:hug:
hugs to everyone else!:grouphug:
Im off to the elementary school as it is my 12:30 to 3pm volunteer shift.
Hip and back are really bothering me...I have been so faithful to my
pt excercises...Im getting really frustrated. I was up at 4:30 with
pain and never got back to sleep.:(I think I will ask for a mri when
I see the doc next week.
everyone have a great day!:):hug:
FinLady 01-21-2010 03:07 PM
Been a slug most of the day, but have been semi busy talking to doc offices. (That whole call, wait, call the next, wait - etc.)
Been having an issue for about a month. Tried do some home remedies, didn't resolve it. Helped with other things though. :) Started out talking to the GP's office to see if my sinus' could be causing it. They didn't think so and had me call neuro's office. Now waiting for the MRI place to call. Fun, fun, fun. I so love shooting the tube (not!). :)
So we're gonna see if it's the 800lb gorilla causing this stuff. :rolleyes:
sabimax 01-21-2010 08:10 PM
getting a MRI of the spine in February, my primary doctor was surprised after all these years of numb/tingling stuff, and now the back issues.. that no one has had me have one. I laughed and said, well the one of the neck I had done was due to my request lol
anyhow... also going back to ENT just to update him on my vertigo still messing with me... I did get a script from primary again for valium... it may help vertigo from what I have read or been told from here, and ENT suggested it years ago but back then I did not have vertigo spells before it ran out lol
Just chilling today, the other wisdom tooth was pulled out yesterday, so all out of wisdom... hhehehe... hugsssss,sarah
sabimax 01-21-2010 08:12 PM
sandy that is cool his doctor calls and checks in... I was surprised today, got a message today from the place that pulled my tooth yesterday, just checking in to see how I am doing..WOW! I find that cool.
take care all love and hugss,sarah
FinLady 01-22-2010 07:49 AM
Sarah, best of luck on the spinal MRI in Feb. :hug::hug:
~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning, morning. Got a fresh cup of coffee and hoping it wakes me up enough to putter around in a little bit.

MRI this afternoon. Gotta love this place. Sometimes it's packed up for almost a week and sometimes it's not. At least this time they can get me in so soon. Need to drink plenty of water before I go to give them a fighting chance at finding one of my shy veins. :D

Take care everyone! :grouphug::grouphug:

Debbie D 01-22-2010 07:55 AM

Morning, all...ugh, January...

Sarah, take care:hug:
Fin hope the tube shoot goes quickly today...

FIL needs yet another dentist appt. Taking him this morning. I've never seen a person obsess with their teeth the way he does:(
I am depressed. I'm admitting it to myself and DH...so I guess it's time to call the therapist and get back to work:(

Hope everyone has a great weekend...

Kitty 01-22-2010 08:30 AM

:hug: Debbie :hug: It's a test of patience, that's for sure. I remember my Dad worrying about his teeth. I was thinking to myself "you're 82 years old.....why now??" but I just bit my tongue and took him to the dentist. Nevermind the fact that he could hardly walk at the time and had a terrible time even getting situated in the dental exam chair. After all that it was determined that his teeth were fine.....and the dentist recommended whitening!! Are ya kiddin' me??? I nearly fell over when it seemed like my Dad was considering it! Finally he came to his senses and told the dentist "I'm 82 years old. I'm just glad I still have my teeth.....whatever color they are". :o

It's a drizzly, dreary day here today but the sun is supposed to peek out a little before the next round of rain gets here on Sunday. Maybe it's because the bright sunlight hurts my eyes so badly.....but I just love cloudy, rainy days. Always have.

Well, I hear the garbage truck out in the cul de sac and once again we've forgotten to roll the can out to the road. :mad: No way am I going to try and get it out there now. Can't you just see me huffing it up the driveway in my kitty pj's with that big trash can?? :o :o

Ya'll have a good day and stay warm and dry. :grouphug:

SandyC 01-22-2010 10:54 AM

Morning all! I got all that laundry done and today I am free to chill out. I should take mom out somewhere but the girl next door is supposed to come cut my hair if she remembers. I may try to call her later.

I am trying to get mom to make the call to senior services and she's holding back on it. She really thinks she's too young for such a thing. Maybe, who knows? She made her own dinner last night! She read the directions and actually ran the microwave. That's huge here! She sighed a few times while reading and I just ignored it. My first reaction was to run and fix it but I knew if she wants to go home she has to know how to do it by herself.

Jenn, good luck on the MRI. :hug:

Sarah, so happy someone is finally getting you the MRI you need. :hug:

Debbie, :hug: I am so sorry your feeling down. I really think you need a break. :hug:

Kitty, we forgot the garbage last week too. Man did it pile up! LOL

Have a good day everyone. :hug:
