I agree with you 100%, Kay. If those "decision makers" had to be one of the ones who's waiting and wondering how next months bills are going to be paid maybe then they'd get on the ball. |
Good morning everyone :Tip-Hat:
Vonn good luck, Deb says thanks and hello Fin glad hubby made it home safe and sound, stay cool keep an eye to the weather, Kelly you keeping an eye on your weather, be careful Kay and Trish howdy ladies hope you all have a good day I do believe the one cat day dreams, walked into the room and said hi trouble, the kids are in the attic trying to unlatch his claws from the ceiling, lol this spastic cat jumped straight up about 4 feet, and did not stick the landing, no medal for trouble I hope you all have a wonderful day Any other Florida area members be safe peace:Head-Spin: |
Oh, durn it...I have a clogged up kitchen sink!! I can't get it unclogged...any suggestions?
I didn't get much sleep last night...fibro....want to do something fun but I'm stuck with the drain that won't drain! Someone help me!!!!!!! |
Tami - Is it on the disposal side? If so, take everything out from under the sink as it gets messy. Then put some plastic bags all under the sink. You can use newspaper but the water will be absorbed by the newspaper and leak through.
Now unscrew the pipes and let the junk drain out. You may have to unscrew the U shaped pipe at both joints to get it all cleaned out. Once it is cleaned out, put it back together. Carefully take the plastic bags out from under the sink and do what you want with them. (I throw them away). For us, pasta is notorious for doing this. I have since stopped putting any pasta in our disposal. |
I didn't want it to come to that but I know I will be under the sink.
I have learned that potato peels can clog you up really good. I didn't think mashed potatoes would do the same thing...I'll let you know how it goes!! Thanks so much!! |
Potato's do that too. They get all gummy like just like pasta does. Maybe someone else will come along and give a better suggestion before you head under the sink. That would be good information to know as I hate it when that happens. My best friend's husband is a plumber and he is the one that taught me how to do this.
Let us know how it went. Good luck Tami. |
Tam, hope you get the sink cleared up. I have unfortunately learned that anything with a lot of starch (potatoes and pasta) gunk up that thing pretty good.
Frank, is deb feeling better today? Did she like your gifts? About the kitty, LOL. Sounds like my tiger trouble maker. She'll get in the strangest situations that make you go - "what in the world?" TK, I know what you mean about the walks. When it's cool enough in the morning, I've begun to walk at a park like area near us. I was so happy when we had a break in the temps. ~~~~~~~ Did some stuff this morning, but don't think I can do as much as I did yesterday. Man oh man, sorry for the following vent, but this is driving me nuts!!!!!!!! :ranting::Crazy 2::deadhorsebeat::hissyfit: On the plus side, got another good night's sleep last night, so fatigue is the least of my worries right now. I'll take any I can get right now, LOL. But am drinking my cool drinks, sitting under the ceiling fan when I feel overheated (which just seems weird in A/C), and trying to take it easy. LOL, can you believe I'm being a good girl. :D |

Of course, I didn't take a nap yesterday and was mud by 3:00. I did manage to get some errands done in the afternoon but DD16 had to drive as my cognitive abilities were coming and going. By the evening, I crashed on the couch a bit but woke up when DD18 came home at 9:30. Tried to talk to the girls and they ended up cracking up at me cause all my words came out wrong and mixed up. It was pretty funny.:D |
I'm here! This morning was push DH out the door for work, jump in the shower, take both kids to dentist, drop off package at post office, come home for lunch, and map out errands for the afternoon. Three must- take- food- along- social events in three days and then school starts. Scrambling to pick cheap foods and get school needs taken care of.
Thanks for your continued prayers. I told DH to keep on the look out for a better job. He said why bother as his current job has the golden handcuffs on him. We can't afford a pay cut and after 12 years there it would be really hard to find comparable pay and benefits elsewhere. :( Vonn- hope you get a good answer soon Tam- hope the sink is open now Those not feeling good- healing vibes Everyone- :grouphug: Back out to the car... |

You guys might be surprised what is out there. If he hasn't been in the market for 12 years, how does he even know if he is being paid enough?? My DH went through this awhile back. We were shocked to find out that he was being underpaid at the company he was with for over 15 years! A little research might be enlightening. |
hey everyone ...
its been awhile since i logged in ... i am sure i have missed alot but frank has been good enough to relay to me everyones hellos and all ... job is going good ... doesn't pay as well as i had hoped but its nice not to have to work 60 hour weeks like i was doing at my previous job ... frank told me what he wanted to do ... taking me to sonics ... we are planning to do this after we get over the stomach flu we are suffering from now ... i cant wait ... hope everyone is doing ok and i will try to get on here more often ... oh and one good thing is coming out of the job and this bug i have ... i've lost 12 lbs. in the last 3 weeks |
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been online. I have been busy mowing the lawn and cleaning. Jim's old high school teacher is coming over Monday so we want the house all sparkly. I have become my mother. lol
Have a good day and stay healthy everyone! :grouphug: |

---------------------------------------- Well I am back from all my running around. Haircuts, school supplies, and food for all the upcoming socials. Glad to be home for the rest of the day! |

Well, with the help of a dinner knife I was able to get it unclogged. I am now running the very full dishwasher finally!! Ick....Olhipie was watching from a distance...he told me I could make a fortune being a plumber. I told him I saved us a fortune...thanks to Tkrik!!:yahoo: http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...vwykc0boha.gif |
Hi everyone!
tk --Classes start on Monday. I am hoping that I feel better by than. Note to self -- Traveling a week before classes start is not a great idea. I usually get up about 7:00 a.m. I will have to start getting up at 6:30 next week. Today, I woke up at 9:30 and have spent most of the day napping. I just managed to take my shower. I hope this is not the sign of a flare up. I am going to try to go do something with my hair. I got a perm yesterday for the first time in a few years, and I am suffering from the poodle look. |
Quote:
and early today, expecting company at 10 am, we started de-cobwebbing, and bathroom touch-up, and sweeping/mopping. naturally, the power failed at 8 am. which means... no WATER, as that's how we pump the water from our cistern. lol, I cleaned the lav and sink with BABY wipes, and hubby scrubbed the wheelchair ramp with a bucket of water hauled from the pond. our guests left around noon, happily clutching fresh-baked baguettes (hubby) and a jar of mango jam (me, me, me! I made it! lol!) and then, I got a REAL good nap to make up for yesterday's missed one. and I know EXACTLY what you mean... I suddenly get sorta stupid, and mix word-order in my sentences when tired. I call it my STUNNED mode. hubby has learned to just say "Yes, uh huh, yes..." and TRY not to not laugh too much, as I sometimes get embarrassed about it. :o :D :o Tam, good job on the impromptu plumbing effort !! 50 gazillion points to you! |
hope all of you had a nice day, we did
it really made debs day, she woke up to the poem loaded on the pc, she loved her card and rose Should of seen her reading the sonics menu, like a kid in a toy store, she was:Bang-Head: thank you everyone for the well wishes, it really brighten her day, and with being sick you know how much that can mean, Thank you:hug: |
TGIF ... morning all you chick-a-dees and chick-a-dudes!!
INSIGHT:: have a paper to write and submit today ... btw ... got a 200/200 on the paper for the other class that was due last Sunday (wrote it the same day) ... toodles!! be good! |
Vonn, Good luck with the paper, and congrats on the last one. :)
Frank, Glad to hear Deb enjoyed the gifts. :) ~~~~~~ Sitting here sipping my morning cup of java. woke up late. LOL, hubby said I slept so soundly, nothing he could do was waking me up. Trying to figure out what to do today. I'm still a little rundown, but do know I'm hiding inside again. We have an air quality alert. I've been learning that means the heat will feel like it's slamming me in the chest if I step outside.:p :grouphug: Hope everyone has a nice day today. |
Mornin' everyone. I went back to bed this morning after the boys left for work and have just gotten up! I needed the sleep, too.
This is the latest I've ever had my "morning coffee" but if I don't have it I'll get a wicked headache later. Vonn - congratulations on the grade!! You go girl!! :You-Rock: Frank - I'm so happy Deb enjoyed reading all the good wishes posted for you two. Have you set a date for Sonic yet? All this talk about it makes me want to go, too. We have one about a mile from my house. Fin - I'm glad you finally got some good sleep! Kay - I sure do hope you have your power back on. Isn't that just the worst? We really don't think about how dependent on it we are till it's gone. Barb - good luck with the first day of school! That'll be the day you feel like you could sleep in but now you can't! Tammy - can you come look at a slow pipe I have in my bathroom? :D :D We're not really getting much in the way of rain from Fay but we are getting the wind! I'm sitting here watching a sparrow desperately try and hang onto the railing of the bird feeder while it sways in the wind!! He's a determined little thing! Winds are forecast to be 25-30 mph today. Guess I can forget about my hair if I go anywhere outside! :p Kevin is helping a friend move after work today. Matt will be home but he's getting ready to go to Jekyll Island (south of Savannah) for a police department function type thing. He'll heave tomorrow morning and be gone till Wednesday night. I hope they've missed the brunt of the storm. I have nothing to do today but inside chores. I try to do just a few things each day and not completely wear myself out. Have to take little breaks in between activities but that's OK. I've learned how to pace myself. Ya'll have a great day!! :) |
Yeah Tami!!! You did it. I am so glad it worked out for you. It's a messy job but so worth it as opposed to paying a plumber. Additionally, you must be so proud of yourself for doing it and fixing it yourself. Good job!
Barb - Getting up a 1/2 hour earlier won't be too bad. If it were a couple of hours earlier that would be a different story. lol Rest up this weekend! Kay - OMGosh! That is me. lol But I do end up laughing about it because it is so ridiculous. What comes out of the mouth is not what is in the brain. lol. The frustrating part for me is after I make the mistake and we giggle about it I try again and the girls are still giggling and going on about it that they won't listen to me. Then it starts to bother me. Eventually they settle down and listen up. Vonn - Good job!!!!! That is awesome! 200/200 writing the same day it was due is outstanding. Fin - I guess it will be another very iced sweet tea day for you today. Stay cool. The humidity here has eased up some. When it was bad I would set my a/c to 68 and sit in the tub with cold water. It helps keep me cool. Hang in there! I also know what you mean about stepping outside. We have little shade if any around here. Stepping outside you get that blazing sun. The car can heat up to well over 100 degrees when parked. YUCK!!!! Kelly - lol Put your hair up in a ponytail or bun and it will be just fine. Be careful if you do decide to go out. Good morning everyone else. I hope everyone has a good day! |
Hey all! Cleaning house today. I am boring, I know. lol
Have a great day and stay cool and healthy. |
I'm here. Got a few things done this morning with plenty more to do today. Battling some funk. Life's stress is getting to me I guess. Carry on.
|
Not quite sure what I'll do...probably some house work too Sandy...
Usually on Fridays Olhipie wants to go see a movie. No good one out there, already saw the good ones. I need to do something I have been putting off all week, taxpayer advocate...grrrrr...ok I'll do it if I have too! |
Forgot to post this, this morning . . .

Hi everyone! TGIF!
Went to the grocery store this morning and then to my office for a little bit. I was happy to have my disability parking designation. There were no other parking places this morning. **** students and their parents! I am just kidding!!! Really!!! I am feeling a bit better today. I think that the med that I took on Wednesday for dizziness may be the culprit -- why I slept so much yesterday. It is really humid here today also. We have had some rain off and on. The poor students are all getting wet standing in line for things. :p We do use golf carts on campus during moving in days to help students and their families to get around campus. All of the administrators and some of the staff and faculty take turns driving them. They also help the sudents move in. It is kind of fun. I did not volunteer this year because I was afraid it would be too hot. I may go to a movie tomorrow. I want to see Traveling Pants. I enjoyed the books and the first movie even though the target audience is adolescent females. I guess I will never grow up. |
Hey all,
I guess I did too much yesterday, paid for it during the night...so much pain in joints, finally broke down and took a pain pill. Made it tolerable and able to sleep. Took my MIL shopping today for her great granddaughter's birthday gift (I guess that would make her my grand niece...or is it great niece? I always mixed up). She was looking at dresses...found one that looked okay. Anyway, she then said she wanted to go to the toy store to make sure she didn't see a toy before she bought the dress. She asked me what I was going to get. I told her probably a stuffed animal (I was thinking of getting a gift card to Build a Bear). So, we go to the toy store, were walking by the stuffed animals and of course dummy me, I pointed out a cute one. She decided to get that for her instead. Made sure, though, that it was okay with me...didn't want to take my idea. She's a sweety. The humidity was terrible this morning...that combined with the stress of taking MIL out gave me a whopper of a headache...she offered to take me out to lunch, but I just wanted to get home and go for a nap. She understood, and here I am resting. Well, hope all of you in Fla. can keep safe...hope Fay moves on soon!! Have a great weekend!:D |
Good to see you posting again Sarah! I was wondering if ya'll got into any of the storm down there. I hope your flight out is on schedule.
I know what you mean about needing a vacation after the vacation. I've had that feeling many a time! I always has to make sure to have at least a couple of days at home before going back to work. Of course, I don't have that problem now - no job - but I do remember that feeling. Hope you have a safe trip! Be sure to post some pics for us all to see! :) |
Everyone I hope you had a good dayand a better tomorrow
Deb and I spent the day in ER, all they did was look at me and said you look horrible, I said thanks but we are here for my wife, well Deb is spending the night she had no potassium in her body, she has been pretty sick, plus her white blood cells were elevated and they found white cells in her BM, so she gets to spend the night, hopefully tomorrow they will let her out tomorrow, The doc warned me to be careful they actually ran some of my blood too and he wanted me in the hospital, also we told him thats not possible she has to get back to work i can get over it in due time, plus I got a couple kids to tend to everyone have a great evening |
Wow, Frank, I hope Deb gets better soon. That must have been one heck of a stomach flu you two shared! I hope she's able to come home tomorrow but it's going to take some time for her to get her strength back. Tell her I'm thinking of her and sending healing vibes her way!! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...es/23vibes.gif
|
lol where did you get the vibe sending smily lol thats cool
I shall pass on your thoughts, I'm a bit hesitant to say she will get out tomorrow too. if she had no potassium, thats not good, lol mine wasnt too good either, but like i told doc she jsut started this job and she has to get back asap I am not that worried about me I will be fine thank you Kelly |

leaving at 4:30 am tomorrow morning. gotta go shower now, and pack the eggs and fruit. I soooooooooooo need this break... :D |

my online pal who's a nurse told me to do the BRAT diet... bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. well, we GROW bananas, so that's easy, and rice is a main staple here, but applesauce? there's no apples in Belize, and tortillas instead of bread. luckily, the local tienda sells canned applesauce, and hubby baked baguettes (little loaves of French bread) for me. |
Wow, Frank, you two really know how to celebrate...::Sick:
does Gatorade or those electrolyte drinks replace potassium? Take care of both of you...rest, relax, and drink lots of fluids. That's an order...:doctor: |
