I think she lives in North West Arkansas according to a post from her. I am not sure the exact town. I'll ask her for you.

Hi all :) Woke up late today, lol. Cleaned up my living room yesterday. It's great to be accomplishing something these days that make me feel better. :)

Thumb's better, LOL. Probably was just a strain.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Trying to figure out sometimes where to go from here, but it's great to see my home slowly coming together. LOL, my creative mind is starting to get back into gear too. :)

tkrik 06-07-2008 07:38 PM

Oh Frank, you big flirt. Trying to woo us ladies with that beautiful bouquet. LOL.

CayoKay 06-07-2008 08:30 PM

hi, dudes and dudettes !!

busy, busy, busy here at the farm in the jungle !

that tropical storm 'Arthur' knocked down like, a TON of mangoes, and we've been making jam, chutney, pies, stewed mangoes, hot habanero mango preserves, lol...

we actually ran OUT of jars, so... Monday will be a long day, renewing our "Visitor's Visa" in the capitol, and going over to the Mennonite community for more canning supplies.

and we need more fencing, to protect our baby dragonfruit plants ("Pitaya") which we are going to try growing... and hope our ducks and chickens don't eat them.

Dragonfruit looks sort of like a cactus, and the fruit tastes like an AMAZING cross between a strawberry and a watermelon....... it's sheer HEAVEN.

and, we're going to meet in person some folks we only know from Belize message boards, so THAT is exciting, we're going to "do lunch"

lol, how fun is THAT ?!?!

also pleased to report I got my notification from my former county election officials in California, so I will be able to VOTE in the upcoming US presidential race !!

:D

MelodyL 06-07-2008 09:10 PM

Wow, that fruit looks absolutely scrumptious.

What lovely photos.

Thanks for sharing.

I juice every morning. I can only imagine what juicing that fruit would taste like.
My husband would go out of his mind.

This morning I juiced fresh pineapple, orange and blueberries.

He said it was divine.

BaxterTheBunny 06-07-2008 09:24 PM

CayoKay - I love hearing your stories from Belize. Your place is so beautiful.

SandyC 06-07-2008 10:40 PM

Oh my goodness this afternoon was a nightmare with the storms. At one point the warnings started popping up here in Lasalle county and I had to get Jim up just in case. The funnel or whatever was seen just west of us and headed our way. The good news is they gave us 20 minutes to prepare. Then, just when I thought things were settling a tornado hit the ground running for my brothers house, my cousins house and Chris's fraternity brothers house. They are estimating the tornado traveled 25 miles. My brother lives in Peotone and my cousin in Frankfort, the fraternity brother in Wilmington. WOW! They are all ok thank goodness. No deaths or serious injuries to report but lots of houses ruined. Please keep the people of all these towns in your thoughts.

I did manage to get a call into Renee and she sounded good. The air isn't installed yet in her mom's new house so she was baking in the 85 degree Arkansas weather. She is planning to go to court on her own Monday so the kids wont have to witness anything. She is pretty much done with her husband after all he has done to her. I'll update after 4pm central time Monday on how things went.

weegot5kiz 06-08-2008 12:40 AM

we didnt have any sirens my moms house did not far away, glad all are ok with you sandy it was an interesting storm system, glad you all are ok

CayoKay 06-08-2008 12:48 AM

since mi esposo is from Chicago, we've been watching the weather up there...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/w...,7460983.story

San, that's just crazy!

DH lived there for 20 years, and he says he's *never* seen weather like this before!

oh, and when you talk to Renee please convey my love and hugs for her and the children.

juicing rocks !! and mixed juices is the best thing on earth.

we squeeze fresh OJ every morning (in season), from our 4 trees.

we're also growing plantains, limes, papaya, melons, and bananas.

alas, blueberries can't survive here 'cause it's too warm.

but pitaya... I never thought of juicing them... half the fun is just dipping in with a spoon.

your eyes practically ROLL back in your head with pleasure, LOL !!

:winky:

naw, I just *show* the pretty parts...

most of it's still pretty rough brush... and not planted yet... as we've only been at it two years.

plus, until we fenced off two acres for the goats, they were EATING the landscaping, lol!

but in about a decade, I'll have everything the way I want it, and my ferns, orchids, palms, jasmine, bougainvillea, and ti plants will all be mature and gorgeous.

SandyC 06-08-2008 01:16 AM

Here is a slide show of the storms that went through the suburbs here. The 12th picture is the tornado in it's glory ripping through Peotone where my brother lived. He said it was about five miles from him though thank goodness. It was a nasty nasty tornado.

Chicago Tornado Slideshow

Becky21 06-08-2008 01:23 AM

Sandy,

That slide show was amazing. You were just saying you didn't want to move to Oklahoma because of tornadoes. I guess it doesn't matter where we live anymore. They are everywhere.

I glad everyone is safe.

SandyC 06-08-2008 01:25 AM

No kidding Becky! This is really not the norm here. We even had a warning and I got Jim up. We never get tornados where I am. Freaky for sure! But I think you still have us beat on tornado massiveness. lol

Vonn07 06-08-2008 08:45 AM

wowza, Sandy ... we had lines of storms go thru here last night ...but not like you got! it's been raining since about 6am this morning ..

**UPDATE**

have been studying for a quiz, then have to write a paper (3 pages) ... I procrastinated yesterday and tried to get stuff boxed up and organized without pooping out dealing with the heat .. the heat won!

cooler today ... now I can be productive!

tkrik 06-08-2008 09:47 AM

Sandy - I'm glad that everyone is OK.

Vonn - I hope it stays cool enough today so that you can get things done.

No updates here. I am hoping the fatigue that I have been experiencing subsides and I can get things done. I talked to DBF last night. He is so cute. He's all proud of himself for the work that he has done in the dining room. LOL. He was telling me how much I was going to love it now that everything is unmasked, vertical blinds are back up, etc. So, I am hoping to go over today and help boost his ego. Keeps for a happy relationship. LOL

I hope everyone has a great day and the weather is good to you all.

weegot5kiz 06-08-2008 09:56 AM

good morning everyone

vonn glad they were not as bad as they were down here

sandy glad you two and your bro are ok, the big ones kept going a wee bit east of us or a wee bit west, deb and I had the radar on the computers working full time yesterday

SandyC 06-08-2008 10:26 AM

Hey everyone! It's going to be a scorcher today so everyone be safe and stay cool. Jim and I have to go out to my cousins house but not until about 3pm. We are supposed to get more storms today but isolated. Watch, they will start when we leave. lol

I finished my laundry last night. Wow, it was piled up. lol

CayoKay 06-08-2008 10:40 AM

holy guacamole, Sandy!!

Kitty 06-08-2008 10:41 AM

It's supposed to be between 98-100 degrees here today. I can't even go to the mailbox without getting dizzy and weak.

Kevin said he was going to try and fry an egg on the street!! :p

Everyone be careful in this heat - it will zap you before you know what happened.

Hey that's our forecast today! LOL. And, don't laugh, it feels kind of humid out. We are supposed to have 23% humidity. Believe it or not, you can tell the difference when the humidity goes from 8% to 23%.

FinLady 06-08-2008 11:28 AM

Hi all :) Weird weather all around for us. I can't remember the last time it was this hot so early. Glad everyone's ok so far.

I think today's going to be a lazy day for me, lol. Don't think we have anything planned, at least it's not on our white board that lists appointments and stuff. ;)

Take care all. :grouphug:

weegot5kiz 06-08-2008 11:53 AM

SandyC 06-08-2008 01:45 PM

Vonn07 06-08-2008 02:25 PM
