:Wave-Hello: Good Morning all :) Having my usual cup of coffee, hoping it helps me to wake up.

Actually got a decent night's sleep last night. Still feeling a little run down, but it's all good. Got a long list of things to do today, and I hope to get most of them done. ****knock on wood*****

But the best news is hubby is due back late tonight. :) Yippee!!!:yahoo:

Hoping everyone has a good day today. :grouphug:

Vonn07 08-20-2008 08:37 AM

me too ... got a good night's sleep finally ... and a ton of things to work on today .. :)

was pretty exhausted after the doctor appointment yesterday ... going to do what I can now ... and just keep moving forward ... :D

JustWeave 08-20-2008 08:42 AM

Morning y'all! Thanks for your prayers and kind words. :grouphug: I think I see a flicker of sunlight up ahead. Or is that just another train heading my way? :eek: The thing I feared the most yesterday managed to get reversed. Oh the problems are still very many, real, and part of daily life, but a potentially huge disaster was avoided yesterday. Whew! And now to deal with the rest of the muck.

There are lots of things going on that are creating a huge amount of friction. I'm deeply concerned about all of them but would like prayers and good vibes for DH's job. Things just gotta get better in that area. Either management needs to get their heads out of their rumps (not likely), or DH needs a job offer he can't refuse. DH likes everything about his job except his bosses, which are too many, ever changing, and spineless. After 12 years of coping with the increasing spinelessness DH is on the verge of snapping. Meanwhile back at the ranch ;), I'll work on the things I do have some control over.

I tried to fix DS's computer last night and messed things up so bad I need to call in a pro. :o DH and DS will not be remotely happy about that. I'm not happy either. Can't afford another bill and I don't want to lose what is stored away on Word Perfect.

Okay, plenty to do today, need to get back to it. Hope everyone has a great day.

Kitty 08-20-2008 09:02 AM

WeaveHerr, I'm glad things look a little better today. I'm sure that's sunlight you see and not a train!! I'm still praying for you and your situation.

Fin and Vonn, congratulations on getting a good night's sleep. Wish I could say the same. I slept from 10PM to 1 AM and then in little 15 minute increments thereafter until I finally got up at 5:30AM. Even when I take a Trazodone I only sleep for 4-5 hours at the most. :confused:

Sandy, please take a picture of the plant you bought. I think I might like to get one, too. Does it have blue flowers? I might be thinking about something different. I hope it serves the purpose for you. :)

I'm going to try and not take a nap today in the hopes I can sleep tonight. There are a million things I could be doing today but I don't have the motivation to do any of them. :rolleyes:

Ya'll have a good day!

FinLady 08-20-2008 09:58 AM

Weave, Glad to hear things are a little better today. Prayers still going out for ya. :hug:

Kelly, sorry to hear about the sleepless night. Hope things get better soon. :hug:

tkrik 08-20-2008 10:12 AM

Fin - Yeah!!! I am sure you will be so happy to have hubby back.

Weave - Still keeping you in my prayers.:hug:

Kelly - LOL. I have days like that too. Although, after my stress break day yesterday, I feel far more motivated and relaxed today.

Renee - Thinking of you. Deep breath sweetie. Oh, slow down you'll hyperventilate. LOL

Sandy - Hope you get to go to Sonic today.

Good morning everyone else. I hope everyone has a great day.

I am painting today. DD16 gets out of school early and then we are going to run errands so I need to rest up and conserve my energy this morning.

Also, fter watching the news last night and hearing that LeRoi Moore died, I am having a DMB (Dave Matthews Band) music day. What an incredible sax player he was. Truly amazing. (He played flute as well and I can only wish I could play mine that well).

SandyC 08-20-2008 10:33 AM

Shrubs I bought yesterday

Hey everyone! I am doing laundry again today and planting my three treasures from yesterday. I bought two Knockout Rose bushes and one Rose of Sharon. I attached pics for you guys to see what they look like. Here you go Kitty! :D They do have the Rose of Sharon in a Blue Chiffon but the nursery was out of them. The guy told me as the flowers start to fall, the lavender turns somewhat blue.

Hope everyone has a good day! I spoke with Renee last night and she's OK, just needs some time to herself. Say a small prayer that things work out for her.

Vonn07 08-20-2008 10:51 AM

hey Sandy .. thanks for the beauti-mous shrubs!! ... OH, the flowers will turn a tinge of blue-purple depending on how 'acidity' your soil is ...

*that's what I was told about getting purple hydrangeas ... the flower is actually bluish-pink .. but to get purple ... more acidity in the ground soil*

where's that garden-farmer-gal of ours??

HELLOOOOO, KAY!!!! come out, come out wherever you are!!!

you meant the *other* Kay, right?

the ONLY plant I've grown successfully is marahoochie.

everything else, well, I've got an ORANGE thumb...

I do well with ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, etc, but plants mystify me.

:o

Vonn07 08-20-2008 12:32 PM

well, shiver-me-timbers, :Poke:Kay ... and here I thought you were the "JANE of the Jungle-garden" ... LOL :ROTFLMAO:

thought with all your garden goodies .. OH, that was all the food for the critters! :Doh:

We know you do well with ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, etc. You are the queen of animal husbandry. :D I can't remember the specific numbers but it seems you have several animals multiplying at an incredible rate. lol

Vonn07 08-20-2008 02:26 PM

LOL, Tricia ... after reading your post ... I thought of that the world will always survive because of Kay's birthing traits with all her critters!

CayoKay 08-20-2008 03:11 PM

well, okay, the wild orchids I rigged onto the mango trees are doing good.

and the cactus I planted (got some starts from a neighbor) last year, all along the driveway are thriving.

and the orange, mango, and avocado trees are surviving well.

but the vegetable garden is TOAST !!

there's more variety and number of bugs in this teensy-tiny country than ALL of the USA and Canada combined... really, truly, that's a fact !!

but... in the GOOD NEWS dept, guess what?

my PITAYA has just set its very first fruit !!

oh, I can practically TASTE it...

(*yum-yum*)

http://www.agripinoy.net/growing-pit...agonfruit.html

Pitaya (or Dragon Fruit) tastes like a luscious cross between watermelon and strawberry.

my doctor strictly forbade me working in the garden or yard, so it's been months since I've been out there.

see, I'm terrifically allergic to the fire ants, and since I am numb, I can't feel them bite, so I can get dozens before I know it, and I don't wanna end up in the hospital again, getting cortisone shots to stop the hives.

:eek:

so, I pretty much leave the plants to mi esposo.

:hug:

barb02 08-20-2008 06:29 PM

Had a quiet day today. I went and got my hair cut this morning, and have been reading and staring at ceiling this afternoon.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am still a tad bit dizzy.

weegot5kiz 08-20-2008 06:53 PM

so does the ceiling need painting, hiya barb hope your day was uneventful

Deb is really sick we all got some dang stomach flu, glad we didn't meet yesterday sandy, i would just hate myself if Jim caught this or yourself

I wish my camera still worked, Trish !!

I'd show you an unbelievable SEA of ducklings...

a total 'cute-overload' of adorable babies, that I've taught to follow me, by clicking my tongue, and making *kiss-kiss* noises.

there's over 100, but they move so fast, I can't get an accurate count.

never mind the diplopia, and nystagmus, LOL !!

the duckie-baybies fill my heart with joy, as I watch their antics.

and there's still 6 more duck-mamas on nests... wheeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!

both my goats (Leeloo and Lilah) are pregnant... and Hadassah (a turkey hen) has laid five eggs, and six of my chickens are setting on nests too...

and three guinea pig moms have birthed litters of 3, 4, and 5 babies.

it's so exciting.

the only thing I do special is play with my animals, and talk and sing to them, and feed them really good.

the best part is, we've sold enough duck and chicken eggs, ducklings and chickies and guinea pigs to pay for ALL the feed...

the only hard part is the twice-daily feedings.

I get back to the house exhausted, and need my hubby to remove my boots and socks, because I can barely move...

I come back stunned with exhaustion, alas... but my heart is happy.

another benefit is that every single day, I get to see wildlife, like quash (coatimundi, a raccoon relative) and agouti (gibnut, looks like a giant squirrel) and pretty little white herons who visit my pond, as I sit on the palm-shaded bench, and toss feed to my critters.

:D

FinLady 08-20-2008 07:46 PM

barb, hope the dizzyness subsides for ya soon. :hug:

Frank, Sorry to hear deb is sick. :hug:

~~~~~~
Got most of the stuff on my "to do" list done. Some stuff still left over, but that's ok. I'm in "happy tired" mode right now. At least I reminded myself to take small, frequent breaks during my running around, lol.
I did post a new painting in my albulm. Loaded a little weird into it, but that's ok.
Have a good night everyone. :grouphug:
tkrik 08-20-2008 07:47 PM
Barb - Hope the dizziness goes away soon. When does school start?
Frank - Sorry you all are sick. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon.
Kay - Hot dam* woman!!! What are you feeding those animals? Horny toads? lol
Kay, I love that phrase - "cute overload". What a great description of a sea of ducklings. :)
will be mum about the quilting corp... and really - I'm only volunteering for the program anyways ... yes, I've really thought this thru! and for income? my friends have been helping me hang on until something comes thru for me .. and will use my cane ...
will make a road trip out of it, and may just go up closer on that Friday ... the appointment isn't until 1220pm on that saturday ...
PS - yep, Frank ... I've learned so much from everyone on NT about 'their' doctors ... at least I'm going in the right direction .. .. so this is good news!
and - I won't be going to school at that time either ..
Vonn - when I had to go to their doctor, it lasted about 4 1/2 hrs. Hope yours goes better.
um, I shred the cabbage hearts very fine for the babies as their beaks are still soft.
and they get a special mix of grains my husband mixes up...
and big pieces for the teenagers, and whole leaves for the adults...
and I toss a pound of whole dried corn... they LOVE me !!
weegot5kiz 08-20-2008 07:59 PM
Hello Sandy the two plants you picked up are beautiful, Deb likes them both, did anyone say to you the rose of sharon would attract humming birds? for some reason i seem to recall it does,
weegot5kiz 08-20-2008 10:09 PM
well things did not go as planned today, so in the morning, instead of having to refuel the car, that's done for her, also got beautiful rose with a water thingy on it and a sweet card that sings" how sweet it is to be loved by you" figured she passed out and now would be good time to leave early for kid at work and leave her a little surprise when she goes to work in her car
hope youe morning is grand
peace
thanks .. this was a doctor to retrieve additional medical information for the SSDI people (their doctor .. they paid for this viz and for gas) ... now to wait for the determination ... and my appointment was .. um, about 15 minutes ... you know, don't want to waste any government time!! LOL
I need to stay busy ...
ah, maybe I'll go and get a sailboat and sail away ... far far away ... :Sinking:
thanks, Becky ... now that 'this' part is over (I've been waiting since April on this appeal) .. how long before they 'approve' me?? and then how does the $$ start floating in ... inquiry minds would like to know!! :Clever:
Becky21 08-20-2008 11:05 PM
Vonny,
I filed in October of 1993 and wasn't approved until Feb. 1995 after appearing with a lawyer before an law judge, vocational expert and doctor. They asked a few questions and saw how loopy I was and I was approved and got my check on April 19, 1995. The same day as the Oklahoma City bombing. The Social Security office was in that building and the address was on the envelope. It was not a happy time.
My best friend applied about a year ago and they approved her really fast. They sent her to their doctor and she got her SSDI with no problem. Things have changed so much since I applied. They just gathered all my information from my doctors when I was going through the long process.
It's just wait and see.
Hopefully since they sent you to their doctor, you will be approved soon.:hug:
ewizabeth 08-20-2008 11:08 PM
Vonn,
I have seen a few people approved so fast! I don't know why there are so many differences? I hope it will happen soon for you. :hug:
Vonn, it must differ from state to state because I was approved really fast. I makes me mad because there are those who are truly unable to be gainfully employed yet have to beg and plead for what should be theirs. It's not a handout......it's based on work history. :mad: Makes me feel guilty for my immediate approval. :(
I hope they get on the ball and get you approved quickly. :hug:
FinLady 08-21-2008 07:33 AM
Vonn, keeping fingers crossed for ya. :hug:
~~~~

Good morning everyone. :) Supposed to be very hot and humid today, so hiding inside with my A/C. Which is ok since I still have stuff left over from my "to do" list, LOL. Looks like a perfect day for me to make some sweet tea. ;)

Hubby got home safe and sound late last night. :) Making a slow cooker meal for dinner tonight. Just trying to decide what I can do based on what's in the cupboard, lol.

:grouphug: Hope everyone has a great day.

Vonn07 08-21-2008 08:38 AM

wow . thanks, everybody ... and top o' the morning to yas!

it's just that I feel caught in the middle .. my doctors say they don't want me returning to the 'work environment' ... and the SSDI tell me because of my age and education .. and I should be able to work thru the pain (when they last denied me) ... :Dunno:

this last spring - I started applying for jobs (the cool weather was helping) .. but by June, my sx's were getting weaker (not fast-fast) ... just slowing down more .. and my doctor shook her head no when I told her that I have to do something about a job! (she's been wanting me on disability since last fall!) ..

the doctors SEE you ... and the government, you're only a number ... and I'm the one in the middle ... :Crowded:

CayoKay 08-21-2008 08:58 AM

my thoughts and prayers are with you Vonn, for a speedy decision by the faceless bureaucrats.

:hug::grouphug::hug:

we're all pullin' for you to get through this.

some of these pencil-pushers don't seem to GET that even though the MS remits, and we have times where we're almost back to *normal* for a while, if we TRY to do what we did before, working, driving, stressing, and all, we'll BRING on ANOTHER relapse, worse than before !!

now, some can keep on working, and kudos to them for it, but as we get older, we have less and less resources to FALL BACK on, and draw from, to achieve even a SHADOW of our former go-get-'em working selves.

if they *understood* that working, and commuting, and STRESS can sometimes precipitate flares, I suspect they wouldn't be so quick to keep us hanging... and hanging, and hanging...

:grouphug:

tkrik 08-21-2008 09:00 AM

(((Vonn))) I hope it all gets worked out and you receive the SSDI soon! Each state has it's own review board and I hope your state has a good group of doctors on their review board.;):hug:

Fin - Stay cool. Think lots of ice in your sweet tea. lol The humidity really suckth muchth.

Good morning everyone else. I hope everyone has a nice day.

Running errands this morning. The mornings are getting a little bit cooler so I can do more in the morning. YEAH! Not cool enough to go for my morning walks but that should be happening soon. The mornings are now down to the mid 70's and the sun is coming up later so there will be more shade between the buildings. I can't wait! I miss my morning walks.
