Good morning all!

Kay - I wish I had an answer for you but I don't.:( However, I am sure your "butter" and other "goodies" will do the trick. LOL

Today is cleaning day - well, at least attempted cleaning day. LOL I did get the kitchen done this morning. It takes so freaking long to do such simple things that used to take mere minutes. UGH!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

tkrik 08-13-2008 10:40 AM

Oh, Renee - Makes you wonder doesn't it. This is the leader of our country! The no child left behind man so that all kids can get educated and then he pulls this. LOL Maybe he was just showing the people behind him. lol

Vonn07 08-13-2008 10:55 AM

Renee ... that's sad ... maybe he had to lift it up and 'see for himself' .. or like Tricia said!

today - projects projects ...

and .. this is weird ... ever since sunday: I have this upset tummy feeling ... and trying not to think about it .. I'm not hungry, not full, don't even have a desire to eat .. wake up in the middle of the night and take a couple of tums, then go back to sleep (or try) ...and when I eat, I don't get the 'had enough' feeling ... and I don't even think about eating ... but, in the meantime - these last 4 days, it's just a sick-to-my-stomache ...

on a fun note: it's International Left-Hander's Day ... Go all you south-paws!!

Hey all, back from the doctor so late that I didn't have the energy to come online. Jim's doctor put him on dronabinal to help with the spasm pain in his legs and his appetite. This med is the man made THC so we're sitting back wondering if it's going to work. He also gave him antibiotics for a sinus infection. Oh, and he lost 22lbs since April! Whoa huh? Jim is happy as a lark! lol

We asked about weening off methadone but the doctor said if it isn't broke, don't fix it. After that we just chatted about getting the dr to our house to smoke some hooka. lol According to the Hindu faith if a neighbor offers you hooka you become part of their family for life. Jim's dr is scared of hooka so we tease him about that. He did say maybe he should come over and take a hit from Jim. I told him oh no he wont because then he'd lose his job and be living in my basement because his wife will boot him out. Gosh, I love having a funny doctor for Jim. The only downfall is we forgot to talk about the Ibot because we were laughing too hard.

Kay, I would say cooking with the stuff will deplete the effect a little so I don't think there is too much worry there. But eating the stems that are ripe, lol, well maybe only chew on a little bit and wait to see how you feel. lol Seriously, if I were cooking with it I would add probably about 1/2 cup of seeds to a batch of brownies at first and go from there. If you would normally use a cup of something you add in like peanuts, go with half of that to start. If you still get that out there feeling then you know to lower it next time and visa versa. Do you know how much fun we would have together in that jungle? lol

I did call Renee and she tried to talk me into driving down to share Jim's meds! lol

Frank, good to see you posting. I figured we talked your ear off and Deb probably just wanted to hug her man since he was home. :-) Do me a favor? :hug: Deb for me OK?

Everyone have a good day. It's only 73 degrees here but the humidity is so high we had to put on the air. Maybe after the storms it will cool off.

weegot5kiz 08-13-2008 11:10 AM

good it isnt just me it was really humid yesterday and i can feel it today too, glad jim is feeling good and docs visit went well, yeah if i get to yakking with doc i tend to forget stuff too, will give her a hug

Have you seen those hookahs? They are the most beautiful "apparatuses." DDs were horrified that I wanted to purchase one just for the artistic/decorative appeal. LOL

aw, that was my problem... whistling while I worked, and wasting away the day.

naw, man... the seeds are, like, totally gettin' *sprouted* dude !!

we don't smoke, as don't want the odoriferous aroma drifting over to an unappreciative or narkly neighbor...

will try using HALF Cannabutter with half regular in tomorrow's batch of brownies.

then, eating HALF a brownie, and waiting a good long while...

see, the main difficulty is the hour or more it takes to sense the medical benefits and/or otherworldly effects, when EATING, rather than smoking, with which, one can usually tell right away, or within minutes when it's time to stop inhalation.

:D that ol' NaeNae sure is a kick in the pants, eh? :D

FinLady 08-13-2008 12:06 PM

Vonn, hope the tummy problem goes away. :hug:

TK, know what you mean about stuff taking longer. :hug:

Frank, hope you're feeling better today. :hug:

Sandy, LOL. Glad you and Jim have a doc that's great to talk to.

Renee, Love the face the woman next to him is making, LOL.

~~~~~~
Taking a break from my running around. Temps are still low, but we have high humidity here too. :P
Next project - go through the books that are taking over our house. :D Gonna get the ones we don't want together and take them to the half priced used bookstore tomorrow.
SandyC 08-13-2008 12:12 PM
Kay, is it possible to grind the stems down? I am trying to get a mental picture of what they look like. lol Do they look like the same stems over here? You need my grinder. It's just a little thing that grinds it into weetle pieces. lol
Vonn07 08-13-2008 12:18 PM
hi all ...
well, would you say this is GOOD news?? received a packet from the dept of health services regarding my SSDI ... and they want me to go for a "neurology exam" with one of their medical facilities ... in Iron Mountain ... about 3.5 hrs from me .. .Sept 13 - Saturday.
they will pay for this exam ... and $38.08 for gas ... will call them with my updated address and phone number ... pray for me! thanks!
SandyC 08-13-2008 12:20 PM
Vonn, definately go! Keep mum about the quilting thing though. lol
weegot5kiz 08-13-2008 12:28 PM
personally i would find someone to drive you there is no way i could do a 3.5 hr there get tested and drive back home and maybe even let them know there is no way you can make this appt cause you cant drive that far, let them find someone closer Madison is a big town thats bs
weegot5kiz 08-13-2008 12:37 PM
dont forget this is their doc who is paid by ssi keep that in mind he or she will not be unbiased let them find one closer
Vonn07 08-13-2008 12:39 PM
thanks, Sandy & Frank ...
they *may* call back (if this Disability Director is familiar with a map) ... and I have a call in to my regular doctor about the appointment (and tummy issues) ...
will be mum about the quilting corp... and really - I'm only volunteering for the program anyways ... yes, I've really thought this thru! and for income? my friends have been helping me hang on until something comes thru for me .. and will use my cane ...
will make a road trip out of it, and may just go up closer on that Friday ... the appointment isn't until 1220pm on that saturday ...
PS - yep, Frank ... I've learned so much from everyone on NT about 'their' doctors ... at least I'm going in the right direction .. .. so this is good news!
and - I won't be going to school at that time either ..
I tried to "borrow" either mi esposo's nut grinder, or his coffee grinder, but he wouldn't LET me contaminate his sacred utensilry...
:D
see, he LOOKED at the greenery, and pronounced it too DAMP to properly grind (too fresh, too resiny, plus we've got a high ambient humidity in the tropics)
so, he said it would simply muck things up thoroughly.
he suggested nuking or baking it to dry it out a bit, so that it would grind but I feared loss of medicinal properties, and hence, opted to manicure by hand.
and yeah, the stems and seeds are the same, the world around, LOL !!
NaeNae 08-13-2008 01:52 PM
LOL the woman beside him is his daughter...Barbara Bush!
SandyC 08-13-2008 02:34 PM
Kay, I am cracking up at your hubby saying it was too damp. Jim likes his damp so much that he bought a cigar humidor to keep it in. lol
yep, and she looks chagrined!
I saw another (larger) shot early this morning, and it showed that ol' warmongering neocon Henry Kissinger, seated in the next row up......... birds of a feather.
**********************
I just realized, I haven't given an E - I - E - I - O update in aeons... so, you lucky ducks, here it is:
NaeNae, first off, wanted to tell ya, Cinderella did indeed turn out to be CinderFellah, and he is GORGEOUS!!
his feathers ended up maturing to a beautiful dark milk chocolate color, and he is majestic, healthy, strong, and a clear leader... I predict he will have a LARGE harem of adoring ducks.
you can tell Olivia he is now the most beautiful DRAKE here at Darwin Farm...
his sister Mermaid is quite a lovey too, being black, white, and grayish... together, they lead the pack of teenager duckies around, and come right to me when I make kiss-kiss noises... of course, it isn't ME they like, but the corn and cabbage I carry.
but it's still neat to have them a little trained, and certainly amuses the neighbor children!
my turkeys (Bishop and Hadassah) are still in courtship mode, traveling as a pair, in full feather display... never leaving each other's sides for more than a few minutes, but they haven't actually mated yet.
my goat Lilah is DEFINITELY preggers, her udder is "bagging up" and by looking at her, I believe she's carrying twins.
her mom Leeloo is pregnant too, so we'll be having little goat kids prancing around in a couple of weeks... according to my goat pregnancy calculator, the earliest possible date is in two weeks, so mi esposo and Amelio are racing to complete the new Goat House, with milking stand, hay rack, pellet bins, and nice private spacious kidding shed...
and our animal hurricane shelter is complete except for shelves and lights, YAY !!!
it looks like Becky Bacon is NOT pregnant, she came into estrus yesterday (she's noisy about it) so we have to mark our calendars carefully, and get the neighbor's boar over to "service" her.
15 duck moms have hatched their clutches, and we have about 120 ducklings in the nursery and duckhouse and brooder boxes... there are still 6 ducks still on their nests.
today we made $75 dollahs selling eggs and chickens, and all the rest of the eggs went under two broody chickens and into the incubator, to see what hatches.
also, our friend Elito brought over a dozen eggs for us to hatch, and we have some COOL new residents, some Nudie Neck Chickens (3) hatched, and some beautiful mop-tops.
so, picture it, our PORCH is filled with boxes, and warmer lights, and cheep-cheepers, the yard is occupied by dozens and dozens and DOZENS of free-ranging birds, so I feel like I'm living in the middle of a six acre ZOO !!
last count:
ducks and ducklings: 157
chickens and chickies: 63
geese: 7
turkeys: 2
goats: 3 (plus 3 or 4 on the way!)
pigs: 1
rabbits: 7
guinea pigs: 29
:D:eek::D
What was I saying?
Oh yeah...I have a purdy hooka at home that my daughter bought me in Kansas City. Strickily for lookin at it 'cause it's so purdy. :D I will never again, I think, see one like I saw a zillion years ago in Germany...at one of King Ludwig's castles - Linderhof. He had a special 'smoke house' (a Mauritian Kiosk) with one of the hugest hookas I've ever seen. Our tour guide told us it was Ludwig's place go be alone, smoke weed, and 'meditate'. Oh yeah, back then (1969) you COULD walk all the way in. All of the windows were stained glass and the inside is circular, and well...it was just stunning. This guy had jewels and gold (HUGE jewels) in everything including his smokehouse. 5th picture on this page
And this is the inside of the smokehouse. (You can see way in the back the table he sat his hookah on.
Still thinkin bout that beach. http://home.mchsi.com/~njp/emoticons/eatgrapes.gif
wonder how much it costs to call long distance to Belize. http://home.mchsi.com/~njp/emoticons/phone.gif
FinLady 08-13-2008 04:14 PM
Kay, thanks for the update on your animals. That is so cool! Still think ya should write a book about it. :)
weegot5kiz 08-13-2008 04:18 PM
i have bugged her about a book a few times, Fin have you ever visited Kays home page?
SandyC 08-13-2008 04:23 PM
Well, it's official. I am broker than a run down barn in the Tennessee hills. Not so broke I can't feed myself but something strange happened this summer and I lost money. Was it because the boys were home? Was it because I went out and did too many things? Was it that last minute trip to the Dells? Was it the bed we bought? The CC I charged up?
All of the above I am afraid. But, the good and positive note is I can pay my bills without going hungry. I just wont have fun doing it. lol
Somebody pass the hooka.
Victor H 08-13-2008 09:15 PM
I know that this if "Off Topic", but since the thread is entitled "Daily Insights Into You", I have to admit that I have been a HUGE ball of stress for the past few days.
International events are continuing to fit the old pattern of the late 1930's, and since I am a nut about history, I have a very unsettling feeling about what is about to take place.
We never learn,..., and the results are ALWAYS the same.
Time to take a nap and hope that I awaken to good international news....
-Vic
weegot5kiz 08-13-2008 09:35 PM
Vic I too am noticing this too and have talked with deb here at home as to what we might expect, with the future of economics and possible war issues, I know we are repeating what happened back in late twenties and thirties
now, Vic as to being off topic lol have you read any of this thread lol we are never on topic, thats what makes this thread so fun
FinLady 08-14-2008 03:35 AM
I'm a history buff too, so totally understand.
Of course can't be very logical at 4 something in the morning, waking up from a sound sleep. :confused: Not sure why I can't fall back to sleep so trying the whole "get up for about 15 minutes then try again" thing.
Kitty 08-14-2008 04:55 AM
I was awake at 4 AM, too, Fin. Pain in my arms and legs kept me from finding a comfortable position. I'll definitely take a nap today!
FinLady 08-14-2008 06:30 AM
Managed to get a little more shut eye. But definitely see a nap in my future too, LOL. Trying to find that IV line for my coffee. :D
Think it was a spasm that woke me up earlier. Ah, the fun of humidity. :rolleyes:
Probably will stick around the homestead instead of going out like originally planned. The books are in a little box ready to go out though, so hoping for a less humid day tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug:
Doody 08-14-2008 08:43 AM
Hey Victor, I completely understand. I've felt the same way...like we're snowballing down a hill and it's getting bigger and faster all the time.
It's amazing we aren't all on some kind of drug to keep us from losing it because it just is stressful all around us. Don't know what to say about it except that all we can do is keep plugging along, do what we think is best and hope.
:hug:
weegot5kiz 08-14-2008 08:50 AM
morning Fin and Kelly for once I wasnt up at 4 am
how is everyone else doing? Well I hope. starting out like a nice day although sinus infections seem to be the order of the day deb and i and two kids hmmmmmm I will drag two of them in with me friday to docs and get some meds he will double mine, for me and deb and i will save a wee bit$$$
I hope this finds all doing well, for myself, I am pretty sure I will not be getting much stuff done around here today. I just don't feel like it, am dragging and am in a sleepy malaise.
Everyone have a good day
peace
