renee best of luck i too am debating this medical transcription at home idea, but first let me apologize for not understanding your anxiety issues at first, today was first time in a long time i went to docs alone, i felt naked I did not feel comfortable, so i can relate to what your fears were at first:hug:

ok as for me cogfog day and i got my LDN script :) faxed it off to skips pharmacy, waiting for their callback, i sure hope it works and i can cut a number of my meds out what a $$$ break it would be and mental break. i dont like taking 7 and 8 pills twice a day, what i really hope is i can stop my injections i am growing tired of them real quick. I hate days like today i feel like total garbage, and we have obligations to go meet our sons new future inlaws, and honestly dont want to, but this would be second time we cancelled due to me, and for some reason some folks just dont get it some days MSers just dont want to do anything but rest relax and play couch potatoe, which i accelerate at:rolleyes:

everyone including all names begining with a-z that i missed happy friday:grouphug:

SandyC 08-01-2008 12:48 PM

I may have figured out an idea. Jim is due for a new wheelchair since the one he has is to big for him now. We are going for a test drive on the Ibot wheelchair that climbs stairs. The va has been leary of these chairs in the past but now have a contract with them. If Jim passes the test drive with Ibot we can request the va to get him one. Now, the va has a more strict policy for them but we can't see any reason why they would say no. I measured my stairs and ran the numbers passed the Ibot rep and he said our stairs are fine for the Ibot. Wish us luck. We will get a call from Ibot in a week to see if they have a test drive set up in Rockford soon. If not, we'll travel to Indianapolis on Sept. 5th. In the meantime we'll run this pass the spinal cord doctor on the 12th.

If they approve Jim for the Ibot we wont need an elevator or nothing! Here it is in action: Ibot

weegot5kiz 08-01-2008 01:18 PM

good luck sandy, i didnt even think of those and i have seen them, hope the va approves, prayers and thoughts are w/you and jim

ewizabeth 08-01-2008 01:33 PM

Hi All,

It's been at least a week since I checked in with you. :grouphug: I'm trying to read the daily update I get in email each day. I hope everyone is having a good or at least ok day.

Sandy,

I'm keeping you and Jim in my prayers for answers on how to effectively battle Jim's constant urinary problems. I hope they find a good routine that will be acceptable to Jim and give him comfort. I feel for him; I really hate it when I have a UTI. Also, good luck with the stair climbing chair, that sounds really cool, but I hope it has a good seat belt. I'd like to see one in use. I remember our old basement stairs when we lived in an old house in DeKalb. :eek: They were treacheous and no railings of course. I bet yours are better than those. lol

Sarah,

You're just a baby at that age!!! ... you can stay 39 forever! :hug:

Kay,

How about getting a new Mac? It sounds pretty complex when your DH has to replace caps? :confused: I think they sell refurbished ones with full warranties. My sister just got her first one that way. Anyway, I hope you'll be back in service in no time. I know how it is to share your computer. :rolleyes: BTW, I'm reading a book titled The Good, Good Pig, by Sy Montgomery. It's a biography about this lady and her husband who adopt a runt piglet and describes their life on their farmette. It makes me think of you when I read it. :) It's a very cute story with lots of animals.

Vonn,

I hope things are getting all settled for you. I'm always going to envy you having that view of the lake. lol :hug:

Frank,

Don't overdo it with your household projects. It makes me tired just reading what you're doing around the house... zzzzz-zzzzz-zzzz ;) But seriously, I have a week off this month and I want to repaint the house interior. :eek:

Barb,

Enjoy your trip to Atlantic City, it sounds like fun. :)

Weave,

Enjoy your DD's company when she gets home and then relax knowing she's home safely. It can be nerve-wracking when they're away from you. I still worry about our sons (25 & 27) and they just live around the corner.

Renee,

Good luck in your job search. I hope you'll find a good one soon! :hug:

My update:

I got a camcorder last weekend and it works fine. We went to watch our son's band perform in downtown DeKalb Saturday night and I recorded their performance. The only thing is I don't have a DVD writer on my computer. So I ordered one from Newegg.com and I'll install it tonight. Then I'll make DVD's for each of the guys so they can study their performance and work for improvements. They did a great job, but they want to do better. Their best song was one they'd written. :) DS is the drummer btw.

Tomorrow is also the same son's birthday, he'll be 25 (my baby). He wants marinaded brats on buns, corn on the cob and twice baked potatoes (all treats for us). He doesn't like sweets too much so I'm making him some banana walnut bread with whole wheat flour in lieu of a cake. He can freeze some and use it for breakfast for a few weeks. I'm making him three loaves. :)

I'm feeling pretty good lately so that's probably why I've been scarce around here. I hope the Tysabri PML problem doesn't turn into a nightmare. I'm doing so well on it and don't intend to stop. DH has been looking at me saying, "Are you sure you don't have PML?" :rolleyes: Now every little thing that happens is going to be cause for concern. :plain:

Oh well, have a good weekend everybody!

SandyC 08-01-2008 01:44 PM

Wiz, when the guy calls I'll let you know if they can meet us in Rockford. If they do, your more than welcome to come and check it out and watch Jim. :D

My stairs are Ok according to the rep. The nice thing about this chair is even if we have to pay for it, this chair will allow Jim to go everywhere with stairs and not just our home like an elevator would. I wouldn't have to drag all the ramps and lifts with me anymore!

weegot5kiz 08-01-2008 02:04 PM

hmmm let me know when maybe deb and i will shoot out that way too,

wiz get one of those black and decker paint sticks, easy to use hardly a single drop anywhere I think they are worth the bucks it costed 39.00

NaeNae 08-01-2008 02:34 PM

Sandy make quadruple sure the VA will pay for the IBOT FIRST, one of the doctors in VA's wives has something....not sure which disease...in fact they met when she won the Ms Handicapped America pageant,VA said it would be covered and long story short they have been in multiple court battles because VA is refusing to pay.

Job interview concluded OMG it lasted 2 hours!!! Seriously I thought he would know what color panties I was wearing before we were thru! But I guess he liked me cause he has me coming back next week for another interview.

weegot5kiz 08-01-2008 02:37 PM

Fantastic news Renee, congrats, by the way what color lol sorry just funnin with ya

NaeNae 08-01-2008 02:42 PM

Had to check but black......

SandyC 08-01-2008 02:57 PM

Renee, was she a vet? That is where the problem starts to get iffy. Tricare was taken to court and a judge ruled in favor of the patient and ordered Tricare to pay. Jim is 100% service connected and that is one of the Va's criteria for getting the Ibot. We'll see. I am sure they will try the no first. They tried it with the standing machine but we got it anyway. Jim has medicare, Tricare and the va system. Maybe they can share the cost? If I have to drop and cry I will. lol

JustWeave 08-01-2008 03:16 PM

DD phoned home

:DDD just phoned home to say she will arrive at local pick-up site about 6:45. :Excited: She sounded extremely wired and happy. Wanted me to say hi to the piano then the dog. I figured that would be in reverse order. :rolleyes: Anyway I was so happy to hear her voice and can not wait to squeeze the stuffings out of her first chance I get. :eek: :o :D She told me one tidbit from the trip and admitted she had lots more to tell me. Is it 6:45 yet? :Excited: :D :Excited: :D :Excited:

aw, gee Wiz...

I live in the jungle, honey!

Macs are heavy suckahs, and the international shipping, plus taxes and import duties are totally prohibitive... if I could even FIND some poor soul willing to undertake such a task......... (I brought mine in on Continental Airlines, as luggage, lol)

I think I am one of only a handful of people in the entire country of Belize with a Mac... it's as rare as a Jaguar... wait, I meant the car, there's REAL jaguars here, seriously !!

and there's not exactly electronics stores around here... well, there IS one in the Mennonite village, over the river, (on the hand-cranked ferry), and through the woods, an hour away.

lol, Wiz, they even have paved ROADS there, it's sorta exciting to visit "civilization" when we go to get sacks of animal feed each month.

but they (The Computer Ranch) have only 2 computers in stock (used) for $1,000 bucks each, and they ain't Macs.

*sniffle-sniffy-sniff*

***********************************************

however...

they DID have a little Toshiba laptop with a broken hard drive on their junk pile, and for the low low price of only $200 US I'm BACK IN BUSINESS, kiddies !!

WHOOOOOPEEEE, and YIPPPEEEEE and YAHOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mi esposo had a spare hard drive, and loaded FireFox onto the Toshiba while I napped, and hooked up my Mac mouse (I can't use the laptop one with any success) AND, my old keyboard, so I'm reasonably comfortable, and happy.

now, if I could only figure out HOW to increase the font size, and import my BillPay passwords and stuff.

my fantasy is to have my iPhoto, my iTunes, and my passwords, journals, bookmarks, IM friends lists, and TONS of saved research documents in AppleWorks and everything else MAGICALLY appear during my sleep tonight, wouldn't THAT be great ??

:D:rolleyes::D

Renee, congrats on getting to the second interview.

Sandy, that ibot thing is neat. I hope they will cover the cost, it will help Jim out a lot.

Kay, glad you got your computer back up and running.

~~~~
Not too much going on since this morning. Been a slug since I came home, LOL. Which is not a bad thing since hubby wants to go to a festival this weekend. Give the battery a bit of recharge. :)
FinLady 08-01-2008 05:55 PM
Just got some cool news!!! I have an appointment with a local art gallery on Tuesday. They showed some interest in my work and they want to see it up close. Crossing fingers they actually like it. :)
NaeNae 08-01-2008 06:00 PM
Sandy no she was just a mere spouse LOL
They called me for my second interview I go in Wednesday at 1:00
Fin - That is awesome!!! It's exciting when that happens isn't it. Oddly, that just happened to me about a month ago (I think about a month, maybe less). The show is in September.
I am so happy for you and certainly deserve that recognition as your work is fantastic!!:hug:
Kay - Glad you are "rigged" up and running!!! You must be so happy.
Renee- Saying prayers you will get that job!
~~~~
Didn't do much today. Dang MS!!!! Cog fog and spasms from the waist down. Oh I hate being a couch potato. I did manage to get most of the bathroom cleaned this morning (didn't do the floors - my battery ran low:rolleyes:). DD16 is having a couple of her friends spend the night tonight so I wanted to get it done.

DD16 was able to register at school this morning without a glitch. Well, I take that back. A friend of mine that works at the school did all the "checkpoints" to make sure that all would go well. Yesterday we found out that they put her in freshman math (algebra), honors planetary science instead of honors plant biology, and regular English not honors English. It all got straightened out yesterday so that today would be a breeze for her. She's a senior now!!!:eek::eek::p

Vonn07 08-01-2008 06:29 PM

Hey Jenn ... that's great ... I'm thinking about checking out the local art museum here in town ... and see what I need to do ... maybe with the painting ...

I did it .. FINALLY started doing some more quilting ... and finished 2 kitchen towels ... more to go ... but, I'm finishing ...

JustWeave 08-01-2008 07:33 PM

DD is home

DD is home :yahoo: and has at least a million stories for us.

Thank you again for all your prayers and kind words while she was gone. We were told there weren't any problems at all the whole trip. :grouphug:

glad she had a good time.

is she planning on doing any further stuff abroad?

my friends have a wonderful Christian Missionary Camp that may need counselors for summer sessions...

gosh, I wish I was young enough and full of energy I'd do it for sure !!

will send camp info/blogs/pix if she's interested...

Went to Swing Vote. I would give it two stars. It was just ok. Went out to dinner and had pasta with shrimp, suasage, and chicken, and veg's in a garlic cream sauce. Yum! Only ate about 1/3 of it.

When hurricane Dolly was heading for the Texas/ Mexico border I looked on a map to see where Mexico City was. All my geography teachers would be disappointed in me as I didn't realize you were next door until I saw a map. :o

Given a chance she said she would go on another missions trip in a heartbeat. None are in the works but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

DD's evening went- Mexico story time, a long hug for the dog, show and much more tell, then time to tickle the (piano) ivories...

My ex has been calling me 3-4 times a day again...I am nice but also make it known I have moved on.

BTW Olivia's new fav food is as she cutely puts it.....ickets and graby.

soxmom 08-02-2008 08:30 AM

Good morning everyone.:)

I sit here all alone drinking my mornin joe.:) Its pretty cool. I had
planned to sleep very late but my dog had other ideas. I even set the

830 she starts mad barking.:(

oh well......thats two extra hours I got in and I can nap.:Dwoohoo!!!

maybe this is good practice for the fall. for the first time in almost 19years
I will be alone during the school day. My oldest is going off to college
and my youngest is starting kindegarten.:(:confused::)

So I got a dog a couple of months ago.:eek: I think I need a good
therapist.lol

So I miss all my family but am enjoying my peace and relative quiet.
Im seriously thinking of getting the makings for mojitos and having
a party at Sox's.(except for all my friends have children and they would
have to bring them and that would defeat Sox's partys' purpose.:)

Anyone close enough want to come have Mojitos???????

Renee.....I hear you after 19 years of not working Id have to throw all
my clothes out and start new if I went back to work.:eek: Good luck..
I hate clothes shopping but then again.....Im fat.:o

Kitty 08-02-2008 08:58 AM

Good morning! I'm late today - got to sleep in till 7:30!!

Kevin's girlfriend took him out to dinner last night for his birthday and ended up staying the night here. They got home early - like 10:30 PM but watched a movie and she was too sleepy to drive home (don't think I don't know that was planned...:rolleyes:).

They have gone to take my car to get the oil changed and the tires rotated and balanced. Kevin has plans to see Batman with a friend of his this afternoon but I have the feeling it will be a threesome if Jessica is still here.

I won't interfere in his relationship with Jessica but I see the signs of her getting a little possessive. Not really in a bad way - just little things like calling him six or seven times between 6 PM and 9 PM after he gets home from work. Unless he says something to me about it I will keep quiet. I really like Jessica - I hope she doesn't run him off!!

It's going to be 95 here today again so I will be inside for the most part. I did take the trash out this morning.....so exciting!! :rolleyes: That will be my outing for the day!! :(

Has anyone seen the X-Files movie? My oldest son used to love that show when it was on TV. I think he's going to see it sometime this weekend.

Everybody have a good Saturday - and stay cool. I think Washington state is the only place that it looks relatively comfortable temperature wise.

:grouphug:

FinLady 08-02-2008 09:15 AM

Sox, I hear ya about clothes shopping. I hate trying on clothes, but sometimes you've got no choice. I'm anywhere from a large to a 2x depending on who made the stuff. :confused:

Weave, glad DD is home safe and sound. She sounds like she had a great time.

Barb, thanks for the review on "swing vote". Glad you had a good dinner afterwards. :)

TK, congrats on your showing in September. That is so cool. :)

Cloudy, :hug: Hope things look up soon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sitting here with my morning cup of coffee, begging it to wake me up. Have plans to make a breakfast casserole with eggs, bacon, cheese, hash browns. Crossing fingers it will come out ok.
Thanks all for your congratulations. I'm still in shock :eek:, but also have plans to go to our local art store today - LOL. It's a neat family run business. I've run into quite a few interesting people there, including the owner. She's a neat gal. She says everyone else in her family has the artistic streak while she got the business one. :)
Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug:
I've made that casserole before and it's soooo good. I don't think you'll have a problem with it - it's sorta hard to mess it up 'cause everything is just dumped in and it comes out ready to eat! Just thinking about it has made me hungry!! :o
Vonn07 08-02-2008 10:02 AM
Jenn .. I'm so excited for you ... the next 'DaVinci' .. and we know ya!!:Painter:
almost done with the binding on the wedding quilt .. finishing projects ... it's almost as tho I go thru a 'panic' attack.... I get one project done - and start 3-5 more ... ahhh - what's wrong with me??? :Hum: more like crazy, I think!:Crazy 2:
Renee .. WHEN next week is your next interview??
Kelly - that's hard to be 'outside' watching Jessica ... and being so 'insightful' of the whole thing ... hang in there ... if she pushes and they break up - then it wasn't meant to be ... but, you're right - it's HIS decision ...
Kay - those ministry camp things are so awesome ... I help out at this end with soap and such ... but, not to be involved ... I'd be afraid that I would just stay .. and everyone would come back and say that I was captured or something! LOL
Sandy - just a thought ... check out this place called universal design - the MS magazine has just written an article about contacting them for helping make life more liveable for those with disabilities .. they may be able to have a better $$ in mind .. and even propose writing something to the editor of your paper or a big newspaper ... and explain your financial dilemma and how it would just be so much more beneficial ... and send pics (of you guys going to the games etc) ... hope this helps ...
I vote: Jim gets an elevator or robot-thing you said that can walk steps ..
SandyC 08-02-2008 10:27 AM
Hey all! having my coffee and waking up. Wow you guys have been busy and I can't keep up with you all. lol
Not much going on today, just chilling and doing laundry. Our power was out for about three hours yesterday so we all sat around chatting. It's kind of nice when the power goes out because we all get to just sit and get reaquanted.
Thanks for the well wishes and info. I did some research and the Ibot cannot be fitted for the car so I know the va will turn us down. They don't take needing two wheelchairs as a reason for them to spend so much money. We talked to Jim's spinal cord doc and he told us buying an Ibot is like buying a car. Oh well, he said he'd ask anyway. Can't hurt to ask right? Then I read on a message board that some people have trouble going down the stairs and you can actually flatten out on them! :yikes: Can't have that happen!
So, Jim and I will just pay off the bills and start an elevator fund. It may take us time to save up but it is what it is. We dream and then come back to reality. IT SUCKS! Things for the disabled shouldn't cost so much! I often wonder how these companies sleep at night. I was quoted anywhere from $18,000-$40,000+ for an elevator. Good grief! Can everyone say RIP OFF?
I am looking at the positives of this situation in that we do have a stair lift and that's better than nothing right? Whenever I let myself get down I start to think of the positives because there is always someone who has it worse.
Ok, on to happy things. IT'S OUR 24TH DATING ANNIVERSARY TODAY! 24 years ago today Jim took me to downtown Chicago on our first date. We went to the Oak Street beach during sunset. He gently laid me down on the sand and kissed me for the very first time. :circlelove::heartthrob::inlove:
Vonn07 08-02-2008 10:35 AM
woo hooo ...
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY,
JIM & SANDY
I just found out that with the new Dept of Education funding, I don't have enough for my september session .. and can't go back until November's program ... aarrgghh!! I have 2 courses to go and my capstone to go!
just when you think you have if figured out ... but that's okay ... I'm thinking about taking a couple of road trips in Sept and Oct before the winter sets in as I enjoy my new pad!! no water/ no heat/ no bathroom issues this winter!!
Kelly & Jenn - I LOVE Breakfast Kiesh!!
weegot5kiz 08-02-2008 11:50 AM
Sandy & Jim, Happy anniversary. That sounds like a very romantic first date. So cool.
Now to do some running around. :)
Have a great day all. :grouphug:
Afternoon everyone! Mexico story time continues. :D When I woke up this morning it felt like all the stress of DD being gone, and the relief from her safe return, had a party from the back of my neck to my shoulder blades. :eek: Thankfully I'm feeling better now but am still sore.
Other than making a cold pasta salad for a BBQ later today I played slug all morning. I just got back from getting a few gluten free things for myself in preparation for the BBQ. Now I can have a burger bun and dessert like everyone else there without getting sick. :o The rest of my day looks more slug time, BBQ, one load of laundry, and even more slug time with a sprinkling of Mexico stories throughout the day. :sunchair:
Hope everyone has a great day. :grouphug:
barb02 08-02-2008 01:05 PM
Hey Everyone. Happy weekend! Hope you are having a good one. It is too hot here!
I am to tired to post much today, but I did want to congratulate Jenn and Tricia on the interest in their art. I checked out your websites and I am really impressed. I got my only C in third grade in Art. And I probably deserved a D! My younger sister likes to paint, quilt, and do other art projects, but I have no artistic abilities.
And to tell Sandy and Jim -- Happy anniversary of your first date!
:Zzzz: I am off to take a nap.
