Default Find Your Passion!

I was having a Dove Chocolate tonight....MMMMM! ... and the back of the wrapper said, "Find you Passion".

So, I got to thinking...could I find a passion that I either didn't know I had... or hadn't had time to pursue...UNTIL NOW?

I think my passion could be drawing... never had a class, but love to draw (when I have time). Have always thought maybe when I get 'older' and retire, that might be fun. But here I am with MS and looking at retiring sooner than later.

So maybe I can find a gift of time in them mess and pursue a "passion".

What about the rest of you????

HAVE ANY HIDDEN OR UNPURSUED PASSIONS???
I'd like to hear about them if you wanna share!

Excellent topic! I always wanted to have something that I was good at and that I loved to do. I figured that there had to be something out there for me. It wasn't until I took the time to try to figure out what it was, that I found it. I love beading. I can't say I'm great - but it's fun and noones ever thrown up when I give them something I've made...

I love to write, and even went back to college to get a degree in writing, but for the life of me when I sit down, my mind is a blank.
My daughter always nags me to write, but I guess I'm scared...

One of mine, the one that life's happenings (i.e., work) tend to interfere with is the same as Debbie's passion: Writing.

I used to do it as a vocation, but, later changed professions.

My degree, like hers, is in the relevant field. I've had quite a number of (non fiction) pieces published and do have a couple book ideas sitting in my head. I've run the titles and gist by my doctors, and ... they laughed. . That's always a good sign, especially since the chosen genre is humor. Only drawback is getting one of my docs. to write the fwd.

I love to cook. When my DH was alive I used to cook all the time. I can't think of one thing I ever fixed that he didn't like. Being from the deep south cooking (and eating) are big deals!!

Now, I don't cook like I used to because 1) I would end up eating most of it and 2) I never know who will be here for dinner. It never fails - I don't cook and there's four or five people here. If I do cook you can hear crickets chirping in the house it's so empty and quiet!!

wow, this is a real thinking thread. At first I wanted to say my grandchildren are my passion but I know I can't build my life around them because just like my sons I know they will grow up and not need Nana so much.

I have had many passions in my life but MS has changed them so I guess my goal for this week will be to find a new passion and see what I can accomplish with it. Thanks for the real thinker here.

I think Neil Gaiman said this...

Think of a word, write it down. Think of the next word, write it down. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

I started writing while I was working swing shift, my dd was 9 mos old and we were remodling the house. I didn't have much time for it - you can imagine. And it was just a hobby.

When I couldn't work anymore I started taking it more seriously. I just had my 3rd peice accepted. It'll be published in a couple weeks. The second one will probably come out around the end of the year. It's not much money but who cares?

GO FOR IT!

My passion is taking pictures. I know I have a long long way to go to even be considered a pro. but that doesn't matter. Over the last few years I have managed to be included in a college art show as well as selling a few here and there.

MS has stopped me from getting out the way I used to and I'm not able to get at certain angles for a picture but I still manage to get some pretty descent shots now and then. (Dh even takes me places where I can get some without ever having to get out of the car!) I have fun and it's something that dh and I enjoy doing together.

wow, braingonedead, I love Neil Geiman as well.

I love his comic books better even. "Death" and "Sandman"

I guess I can say "sex" is my passion...LOLOLOL just kidding...

I have many passions...I wish I could pursue them all...

I love to write, but I suck at writing...

I love music, and I was taught to play the piano when I was three. But I haven't played since I was 10 (only on occassion these days).

I love to sing, but I can't carry a tune...

I love to take pictures, but all my photos look more like Andrew Adam than Ansel Adams'...

I love to draw, but they all look like stick figure people and even they want to run away from me...

so, while I have so many passions, I am simply not good at any. But I DO enjoy them when I do get to them, though...and I guess having passion and being good at the passion are two different things... ^_^

my wife is my passion now...can I say that?? LOLOLOL

Red face

My passion used to be people and supporting great leaders in helping people in need. I'm stuck alone in my bedroom now, and my illness makes it difficult to go outside. I'm also losing the use of my arms and legs, can't stand or sit for very long periods of time, and I'm losing my eyesight. I only have a pinpoint of clear vision in the center of my field - the rest looks like a kaleidoscope.

My brain doesn't always work the way I want it to either. Sometimes I'm stuck for the longest time trying to figure out how to open a door. I look at the knob and know I have to use my arm, but I can't remember how to tell my arm to move or how to make my arm open the door. If anything disturbs me when I'm trying to figure out how to use my arm, I get flustered, my blood pressure drops, and I faint.

I tried joining a support group for amyloidosis, but I felt like a mascot for people to enjoy themselves. One meeting notice said "If you wake up Saturday morning and feel like hugging an "amyloidian," come to the meeting." I guess I've gone from human being to ragdoll. The meetings are too exhausting, I can't eat any of the food, and it's depressing to hear people get all excited about raising money that would never help any of the patients in the room.

I don't like watching TV or movies or listening to books on tape.

I'd jump in the lake if I could.

I'm at my wits end. Got any suggestions?
