Ok, another quickie here. (post I mean, get your mind out of the gutter. lol).
Kay - Adorable little kids. Hope the weather settles down soon. Renee - Good luck with the interviews!!!! I will be saying a prayer for you. Fin - That sounds great! What a great way to spend the afternoon, painting. I'm jealous. lol Frank - I am jealous you get to have your windows opened. It will be several more weeks before I can open mine up early in the a.m. and in the evening and months before I can leave them open all day. Barb - How's the 2nd week of classes going? Are the students appearing more educated than the 1st week? It is sad how little these kids know about history. However, they are whizzes on technology as well as learning and using a new language - word shortcutting while texting. Sandy - Khaki would be nice. It can reflect both warm and cool colors. Good choice. My SIL just did their family room in a chocolate color that has green undertones. She send me pictures and it looks awesome. They too had lots of wood work through the house. Although, she painted the baseboards, trim and crown molding white. Sarah - Saying prayers for you and your family. Hi Weave, Kelly, Vonn, Wiz, DM, and I am sure lots of others that I have missed. Hope you all are doing well. Since I already am brain damaged (lol), I have to now say I am brain dead right now. I am caught up on my work. Finally! There will be some stragglers coming through but the bulk of things are done. Today, after I take my nap, I am going to pay bills and go grocery shopping. Yippe I A! I don't like doing that. Money comes in (SSDI today) and money goes right back out - nothing stays. Oh, please say a prayer for DD18's friend. On Monday, he was going to commit suicide. DD17 told me about it so I called him up, talked to him for a while to find out what was going on (we have talked a few times before and he has quite a history as well as a dysfunctional family - both his parents just abandoned him for their own personal selfishness). I told him that I was coming to pick him up to spend the day with us and to bring clothes just in case he needed to spend the night. I made him promise me that he would not hurt himself and told him I would call him on my way to get him. He spent the day with us and felt so much better. He did have to go home as the man that took him in (he had to give up his apartment because he got laid off from work) was going to loan him money for gas so that he could get to his training session for his new job, so we brought him home. Anyhow, if you could say a quick prayer for him that would be great. He is a good kid, just struggling to keep it all together. His dad's girlfriend doesn't like him so she doesn't want him around and the idiot dad allows this. The mom is cleaning up her act and has been drug free for 3 months now. However, she has a bad, bad husband. Sad story. So he really doesn't have any adult guidance other than his roommate. |
How nice of you to go get that young man, Trisha. Sometimes all people need is to know that someone cares about them. Who knows...he might just be here today because of you! I cannot imagine treating my children like that....it's just beyond my comprehension why people act like that. Anyway, you did a wonderful thing for him and I will definitely keep him in my prayers. :)
|
Trish, will pray for him.
|
The ray of hope evaporated and I could have an even bigger problem on my hands.
|
Matt has announced that he's going to start a very strict workout program and meal plan. He went to the store last night and bought all kinds of food (chicken breasts, brown rice, sweet potatoes, almonds, bananas, whole wheat bread, etc.). I figure it's a good time for me to buckle down with my diet, too, since I am off the meds that caused me to pack on an additional 37 pounds. Lucky for me I'm tall!! I remember this food plan from when Tim was working out and trying to eat correctly (the boys had no interest in this back then). I never had a weight problem then and now I know why...I just need to get back on track. So.......I've done pretty good today - and it helps that the other med I'm on (LDN) has seemingly zapped my appetite. I still eat but just better things and not nearly as much. I'm drinking water like a fish, too. :p
So, I know if I tell ya'll that I'm going to lose this excess weight before 2009 (yes, in 4 months) I'll have a goal and will stick to it. The treadmill is coming out of storage and I will walk everyday (albeit slowly :o). I figure any exercise is better than none. Maybe I can get back into all the clothes I thought I'd never wear again!! :D Since I cannot afford to buy new ones guess I have no choice, huh?! :p |

Darn it, Weave......I'm sorry. I have no words of wisdom or solutions. Just continuing prayers for you and your kids. |
Weave still lifting you up in prayer.
Sandy- one is for my old job, the other is working for a doctor I know well and love. Tricia-you done a good thing darlin! Kelli- Could you lose about 80 pounds for me to while you are at it? Char- hope you are safe and making lots of sales! Frank- wanna go fishing? I have a lake for a yard! Hopefully I get one of the jobs soon, otherwise I may take Moi up and let him move me! |
Weave hugsssssssssss
kitty..good luck on the weight loss...I got to start doing yoga..or weights something...as I am pudging out....on top of already having pudge....think the meds dont help me...but still I could do something for my body...hugss hugss to all, sarah |
hey Nae Nae, I am trying to hire...only had a few apply... but I do need to hire someone part time..hehe
are you wanting to move North...haha..sarah |
Well I guess all of you body conscious folks can't come over here, I made a homemade lasagna for dinner along with homemade garlic bread, which let me tell you that stirring business isn't all its cracked up to be left handed! I may be fat but I'm happy! Well mostly.
|
OK, I just got home. I bought my paint and they didn't look like they did in the store so Jim and I played around with the different combos and came up with some good stuff!
My colors are: Knapsack for the upper part of my wall. Dried Palm for the lower half. This will also be taken into the kitchen, same combo. Then my soffits will be painted Versatile Verve for contrast. In the basement, upper walls will be Backyard Tan. The lower part is wallpapered a grayish blue so not touching that. The small bathroom in the basement will be painted Amber Forever. That color was supposed to go in the kitchen with the Versatile Verve but they looked horrible together. Funny how they looked awesome together at the store. lol I wont post pics of the colors since it wont show up right but the knapsack and dried palm are more green brown and the versatile verve is a cinnamon color. The tan is well, tan and the amber forever is like a mustard yellow. Now, who wants to help me paint? :D |

Hi Everyone,
I made it to MA had one really good meeting - didn't sell any slate yet but I learned a lot so that is possitive. Had dinner with Girlie Girl, checked into my hotel and within 45 mins was in the bathroom sick! Oh My Gosh, my stomach hurt sooooo bad! :( Still does but nothing like it was. Tried to watch a little TV and vertigo set in just trying to watch it so shut that off! I am feeling a little better afte a short nap but I think I have gotten rid of my entire dinner so I can take my meds and settle in for the night. Got a big day ahead of me again tomorrow so need to feel much better by then. Nighty Night |
aw geez, Yabbit, is that the northern version of Montezuma's Revenge?
I had a leetle touch of de vertigo at our local tienda this afternoon... a woman driving a Mercedes offered me water and an assist to my truck. noticed she had diplomatic plates, WHOA !! she turns out to be the consulate from Ecuador... she was worried about my blood sugar. now, just TRY explaining MS to people in whose countries MS simply doesn't occur !! anyway, we got an invite to her estate in a nearby village, THAT oughtta be a lot of fun! will report back after visiting next week.:D:cool: |
Kay, I don't know what it was but I do know I didn't like it!!!
sorry about the vertigo, no fun! can't wait to hear about your trip. |
Char, I hope you continue to get better. Maybe the food just didn't agree with you.
|
I hope so, I have a long way to go tomorrow (and yes a short time to get there) and I don't need to be sick!!
|
Frank - DD16 turned 17 on the 25th.
Sandy - The colors sound great. What's the weather like up there? If it's cool and dry - I'm on my way. lol Have fun painting. Kay - Oh my goodness! That will be interesting. YB - Hope you're feeling better. I hate being away from home when I'm sick. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow. Sarah - Still keeping all of you in my prayers. Renee - Dang it! I missed dinner again. Lasagna sounds good. I haven't made it in a long time. Maybe I'll make a big pan of it tomorrow or Friday. Oh, Friday and then we can eat it all weekend for lunch/snacks! lol |
Have fun Kay! You may never know when you need her friendship! I have the same deal with a Saudi govt official. I took care of his son who was going to school here, he said anytime I wanted to visit or was there and needed anything he would be honored to help I still have his card! LOL I should have emailed him when I was mistaken for the royal family in Germany and sent him the pictures, he would have loved it!
Sandy was telling me all about their paint blotches on the walls last night, have fun but I'm gonna take a pass on the helping you paint part! Tricia-dang you shoulda just flew over you coulda been here by midnight! LOL Frank-thanks yes I have two interviews today! One at 2:30 and one at 4:00 just enough time for Starbucks inbetween them! I gotta call Sandy and slurp in her ear! Char- sorry you got sick :( did girlie girl poison you? LOL Keeping fingers crossed for big slate sales! |
Good Morning everyone. Well, it looks like Hurricane Hannah is going to miss us according to the weather reports today....we'll see.
Char, I hope you're feeling better today. Vertigo can make you so sick. I wonder if GG got sick, too. If so, I'd call the restaurant where ya'll ate and gripe! Kay, so you're using vertigo to your advantage now? Hey, if you gotta have it may as well make it work for you!! :D How are the kids doing? Tricia, wish your DD a Happy Birthday from me. Renee, good luck on the job interviews. The lasagna sounds good. I made lasagna for Kevin's birthday dinner and it was so yummy. I used Italian Sausage and fresh garlic....omg it was rich but soooo good. That was in July...maybe in January I will have lost enough weight to be able to splurge and have it again! Frank, congratulations on the weight loss! I've always wondered why men lose faster than women  Not fair!! I still have no appetite so I'm enjoying it as long as it lasts. Sandy, your paint colors sound beautiful. I want to paint the wall my fireplace is on a brick red color. The ceiling is vaulted so that should be interesting...think I'll have to get Kevin to do it for me. He's good at things like that and enjoys painting. Barb, how's school going? It's a good thing you live so close by...I'm sure that makes it a little easier on you. At least you get to run home in between classes sometimes. Sorry if I missed anyone but you know it's not intentional. I have holes in my brain and sometimes things fall through...:o Have a wonderful day, ya'll!! |
I am feeling much better this morning. Didn't get a lot of sleep but I need to get my butt moving this morning.
GG didn't get sick, I checked in with her. She is fine and getting ready today to head off for her three day walk for MS. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers since it looks like Hannah will be here Saturday. I am hoping if it is bad they will call off the walk. They are calling for 30 - 40 mhp winds, that won't be good!! I would like to be able to make it home tonight but I am not sure if my body will make it. I may end up staying some place. Keep me in your thoughts for safe travels please! Kelly thinking of you even though Hannah may go over there are two more hanging out there! Renee good luck on your interviews! Sandy colors sound wonderful can't wait for pics Kay good luck and have fun! Fin how did the artwork come out - sorry to hear about your cogfog - hope it is better today. I know I have forgotten someone but my head isn't all there either! |
Good morning everyone! I woke up early this morning. It's so quiet and peaceful right now. At 5:45 in the morning no one is up and about yet; no car noise, no people & kids running around, etc. It's really nice.
Renee - Good luck today. I'll keep you in my prayers that one of the jobs works out for you. Char - I am glad you are feeling better this morning. I will keep you in my prayers as well for a safe trip home. Kelly - I'll pass the b-day wishes on to DD17 when she gets up. Hope you all are doing well and have a good day. |
Thanks again for your kind words. I am too numb to say any more.
|
(((Weave))) Hang in there! We are all praying for you.
|
Renee, Keeping fingers crossed for ya!
Char, Glad you're feeling a little better. Have safe travels. Sandy, LOL. I think hubby has plans for me to help paint around here first. :D The colors sound great though. ~~~~~ Morning, morning. I'm semi-awake, but not too happy about it -LOL. It's definitely humid here. Spasms-R-Us was having a party here last night. Day three with an air quality alert while being in the 90s. :p Hoping a break in this weather comes soon. Meanwhile, I'll be making short to-do lists and trying to be a good girl. ;) Hmmm. I wonder how iced coffee tastes? Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug: |

I admit, I prevaricated a wee bit... my *friend* is the one who called the diplomatic plates to my attention! I was too busy being dizzy to notice much, and far too intent on trying to explain to the helpful woman that I didn't need SUGAR at the moment, lol! oh, and the kids are doing WELL... happy little campers, having TWO moms to nurse from. and we got 2 lbs. 14 oz. of milk this morning. now that the colostrum (last batch safely in the freezer for future emergencies!) is done, the milk is good for human consumption, and we will have to dig out the cultures, cheesecloth, and equipment we brought to the jungle... we're going to start making CHEESE and YOGURT and KEFIR !! YAY !! okay, time to go feed all my critters now, back later to read more... |
Good Morning All :Wave-Hello:

making an apple struedel, never made one before, so far so good it is baking now, I expect aroma of apples to fill the house, in next 20 minutes
hey I got a brain wave here, has anyone ever used apple sauce in place of, this all I know about using applesauce in baking is it substituted for oil? butter? eggs? just thought the dough would of tasted even better if I had used apple sauce, just lol dont know what to sub it for |
Hey all! Rising and shining with my coffee. The window guy came and replaced two windows and wouldn't you know I noticed one other window that needs replacing too? He checked it and said when they come out this way again they will come by and fix it. He has to order another piece of glass.
Other than that, I may start painting the kitchen. It's raining so I have to be sure to wait longer than usual for it to dry. Or maybe I will start with the basement...decisions decisions. Hope everyone is doing ok even though the rain and humidity is taking it's toll on all of you. Jenn, the cool air is coming I promise! It's a mere 61 degrees at my house, humid but cool. Renee, good luck today! Char, stay safe and prayers for a sale! Trish, come on up! 61 degrees! Does that sound good to you? Weave, I wish you were near some of us. Frank, Jim's sinus's are wreaking havoc on him due to the rain. He woke up gagging. YUCK. I gave him his meds and slipped in a sinus pill to help. He's sleeping now. :grouphug: everyone! |

adopted one, became legal guardian for another, and just moved the third one into the downstairs bedroom. all three were badly in extremis, one was a cutter (self-mutilator), one was suicidal, and the other was just thrown out by her parents. it's intense, exhausting, and very rewarding to help get kids back onto a life-affirming path, when their parents have just tossed in the towel, and given UP on them... or are unable to properly parent for some reason... so, GOOD on ya, Trish, for jumping in and helping. one of the things that gets me through the day is remembering that all three of those kids I helped have now finished college, and gone on to live good lives. makes it all worth it. :grouphug: together, we can work miracles! |
Sorry to hear Jim is having trouble glad ypou mentioned it maybe i will do my meds for it today, this weather has been reeking havoc on me too, Tell him I said howdy and go cubs:eek: hope he gets to feeling better, really raining up here how are you doing down that away Sandy
|
Rainy like you Frank. Dreary, wet and gloomy.
|
this apple struedel is just what the weather ordered, it sure is a roll back over and go to sleep type of day
|
Frank, I believe that applesauce is a substitute for oil in baking.
Sandy, send over that 61 degree weather via FedEx if you can. :D Sorry to hear Jim has sinus issues. Kay, That's great that you were able to help those kids out. That is so cool. ~~~~ Just wobbling along doing some small things that need done today. Taking a break at the moment since I feel like I'm swimming against a current when I move. :( Having a dozy of a SX day. This too will pass, thankfully. :) BTW, current painting is drying at the moment. I'll be posting it in the next day or two. (before I forget again ;) ) |

Hi everyone,
Goodness, feels as if I haven't been on here in a year; haven't had much time to get in touch... got back from up north on Tues. evening. Then on Wed. had to take MIL to heart doc to have her pacemaker checkup...they had some sad news...my FIL's second cousin was driving a truck back from Peoria Tues night/Wed, had a heart attack and died. The truck rolled over, but fortunately didn't injure anyone. No drugs or alcohol involved. He was only 51. Too young... I signed up for a medical transcription course. Hope my cog problems won't give me too much trouble... So sorry to hear of various member's troubles...I hope that all of you know that you're not alone...:grouphug: Take it easy, everyone, and stay dry, Midwesterners!! Also, batten down the hatches for Hannah! |
Barb I am sorry to hear of your stress, issue, praying he isnt a danger to anyone, and strength for you.
Deb how much does that course take I would be interested in knowing |
I've been away for a few months and just wanted to jump in and say hi. I've really missed being here with you all! It's so good to be back!:grouphug:
Hope everyone is having a great day!:) |
