We have not gotten any of the rain so far that you guys and gals have had up in N. Illinois. I guess we missed that storm although they are still saying thunderstorms tonight and heavy rain tomorrow. It is still windy here, and the humidity is at 80%.

I did go to see "The Women." I would give it two stars. I wan't bored (great recommendation), but it was not great. It had a really good cast -- there were no men at all in the movie which was kind of interesting, but it was kind of slow. And it seemed that they were trying to impress you with the dialogue, but it wasn't very "snappy." They showed the previews for the Secret Life of Bees (loved the book) and Nights in Rodham (?) and they both looked really good.

Just a quick update. I'm having a lazy weekend so far. :cool: I slept until noon today, then vegged, did some Pilates exercises, went out to eat. Came home and vegged again.

We had around 7 inches of rain here last night! :eek: I slept through it all. DH got up this morning, there was a stream of water seeping in through a basement window. He put a little mini-dam down there to divert it to the floor drain. Rocky (our cat) has been monitoring that, and the sump pump with keen vigilance. :p

It's almost time for bed again, been up over 12 hours.

Jim and Sandy, I'm keeping you two in my prayers. All those affected by Ike, same thing. Everyone else, have a safe and dry Sunday. I'm off to bed again. The fatigue is hitting this weekend.

glad rocky is keeping track of it all hang on wiz its gonna rain some more if it isnt already, we got almost ten after all was said and done, there are streets totally gone here, and will be for a bit

I got a call early from DD who called to tell me Main Street in the town I grew up in was on fire. She still lives there.... I have been watching it on the town's webcam - with all the disruction going on with weather in the south it is hard for me to watch memories go up in flames.

Please keep the people of this small community in your thoughts for a few days.... the town doesn't have much left and to lose a part of Main Street is going to be hard on them.

I feel guilty asking for thoughts and prayers when there is so much going on in the South, so much more distruction. :(

My heart goes out to them all..... thoughts and prayers for everyone this morning.

Hello...if I'd wait an hour to post I could say Good Afternoon! I slept in again today and having a hard time getting going this morning.

My sinuses have been giving me fits for the past week. My head is stopped up so I've been having increased dizziness and been very off balance. Oh well, I know what's causing it so I can deal with that.

It's quiet here today (again). Kevin's g/f went home last night 'cause she had to work today. She thought she had to be in at 9 AM but found out it was really 7 AM....I came out into the living room last night to find her crying on the couch. Kevin was nowhere to be seen so I thought he had done something to upset her! :eek: Turns out he was just in the bathroom and she had just found out she had to be at work at 7 AM. She was heartbroken.....:rolleyes:.....okay, I thought, try getting a grip on yourself because there are much worse things that could happen (like not even having a job). She's so dramatic...:rolleyes:. If I roll my eyes anymore I'm going to cause vertigo!!! :o So, she left about 10 PM and I went to bed.

Char, I'm so sorry about your town's Main Street. What caused the fire? I'll definitely keep those people in my prayers.

It's gonna be hot here today (90) but rain is forecast for tomorrow and then a nice drop in temps to the upper 70's for the rest of the week. Let's hope they're right this time!

Wind's picking up near us, but the rain is still to the north so far. Need to call the in-laws later to see how they are. They look like they've been dumped with rain this weekend. The house they're currently in is on a slab, so hoping they are doing ok.

I'm guessing by looking at the forecast that if we do get rain, it's gonna be a bad storm. We're almost in the 90s today with the temp dropping to the high 60s tomorrow.

Hey everyone. The weather is rain and more rain but so far today doesn't seem as bad as yesterday in my area. The boys are in the flood area of the Kishwaukee river. It flooded last year and was a mess. They said it has crested and who knows what will happen now.

Jim is going to talk with his doctor today. He's refusing to be admitted and will go local if he needs to. His doctor promised outpatient and if he goes back on his word Jim feels like he can't trust him. He brought up a few good points. The reason he could be so tired is because the doctor up'd his baclofen, put him on marinol and macrobid, all of which cause drowsiness. So, to admit him based on fatigue seems rather over the top. Now, he is having really tight legs and again, this could be due to the ms or the infection. Either way, it's in no way enough to be admitted if outpatient IV's can be done. He is going to talk man to man with the doctor today. We'll see how that goes.

Sandy, I hope and pray that everything turns out okay for Jim. I wouldn't want to be admitted, either, and it sounds like they could treat it as outpatient if need be. Do you think the high humidity in the air has anything to do with his legs being tight? I know I can always tell when it's going to rain or the humidity is raised......I'm like a human weather vane!

Absolutely Kitty! That's exactly what we're going to tell him. All of you have been complaining of the exact same symptoms so this leads us to think it could be related to the humidity and rain. We've had enough of the humidity lately haven't we? This is not new to Jim, heck he's had ms for 20 years and I think he knows his body better than anyone, even me. :hug:

Good Morning!

It has been raining fairly heavy here since the middle of the night, and the wind is starting to pick up here. I guesss I will be staying home today. I wanted to stay in bed this morning and listen to the rain, but got up at 7:00 due to a headache. My sinuses are also going crazy and the humidty does not help. I just broke down and took some advil. Usually, it does work for me.

I have been reading a mystery that starts out in Austin, Texas and then moves to Capri, Italy. I am enjoying it since I have visited both of these places. I think I am going to make some chicken noodle soup today -- semi homemade. I do use the boxed broth, but add chicken, ginger, garlic, mushrooms, frozen noodles, etc. It seems like a soup day. The weather the rest of the week is supposed to be great here -- sunny and high 60s/low 70s.

I made plans with friends for 2 weekend trips this fall. We are going to go visit another friend that lives in the Quad cities (Bertendorf), Iowa in mid October. She just moved there this summer. The trees and the Mississippi should be really pretty then. And then we are going up to Schaumburg, Il to go Christmas shopping the week before Thanksgiving. I have a week off from school then so hopefully I can handle it.

Well, I am going to go read some more, and I also have papers to read and grade. I hope everyone is having a safe and peaceful Sunday.

Sandy, Just read your reply. I think the humidity is doing a number on alot of us. Hopefully, things will start drying out tomorrow.

We had 50 mile an hour wind gusts with sustained winds around 30 mph all night glad I didn't hang on to that flag pole as it was the first thing we lost! We lost several tree branches and one small tree and have water standing everywhere, both of our ponds are spilling over, and we lost electricity around 2 am until around 4 but other than that we are good!

Renee I was watching the radar at 2 am omg you had a nasty part of the storm hit you with a lot of hooked legs on the fronts, those tend to be precursors to tornado I was worried am so glad, A. you are all well B. I didnt have your number I would of been on phone double checking with you, that radar was nasty last night down there, again glad you are ok :hug:

It's a blue footed booby. It's a type of seagull or pelican I believe.

It's pretty calm here. How about you Frank, Deb and Barb? We have a little wind and it's chilly but overall not what I expected to see. The tornado sirens went off a bit ago when the clouds were spinning but all is good now. The boys haven't called me so I guess they are drying out. Or the Bears have them sucked in winning the game!!!!

It is still windy here, but I think we may be done with the rain. Occasionally, it does sound like my roof is going to blow off. A fruit stand down the road has fallen apart, but I don't think it was very sturdy. Had a few stong banns of rain, but otherwise just a steady downpour. We haven't had any tornado warnings. I think the flash flood warning is in effect until 8:00. I have a few branches in my frontyard, and it seems to be cooling down.

just came in from outside tossed some grass seed out and filled bird feeders so they will leave the grass seed alone,

because our backyards are our drainage system i went out back and cleaned out my channel at the back of the yard so the water will flow better

Frank I went outside at 1am and it looked like someone stirring a pot of soup, the clouds were spinning around and around it was definitely creepy! But today it has been sunny and cool like fall! I went down to the shop and stained that antique chest of drawers I have been working on since May, so one more coat and it is finished! Yall I am not going to be in a very good place the next couple of weeks, my ex will be here Tues or Wed and is taking my baby for 10 days. Frank, Sandy has all my numbers I don't mind if she shares!

especially when they came home with fancy new toys, after trips to expensive theme parks, and just FULL of junk food, and hyped from sugar.

it took weeks sometimes to get them back into a rhythm of proper sleep, food, homework, and discipline/respect.

my sister opined that my ex was a "Disneyland Dad"

also, I worried because he'd take them to visit his mom, who lived in a bad neighborhood in LA, and he drove too fast (wrecked his Lamborghini, effin' ROLLED it!)

and he had friends I didn't approve of either.

so, although your particular circumstances may vary, I *do* understand the worries, concerns, anxieties, and valid fears.
