oh, Barb !!

my heart goes out to you, dealing with this difficult situation.

my brother came home from Iraq (First Gulf War) like that.

it took *years* to "de-program" him.

but all the hard work paid off, and he now leads a veterans group against war... still struggling with some health issues, but his mind is clear.

I think your referrals were a good idea, this young gentleman sounds like he needs some help, some time off, and some serious counselling.

that's what my brother's group does, helps vets.

PM me for info, and website, you can't TEACH if you're fearing for the students' setting off this guy !!

FinLady 09-04-2008 05:28 PM

Frank, :hug: and prayers going out.

tkrik 09-04-2008 06:26 PM

Barb - No offense taken and that is not what I got out of your post. I understand your concern and will pray that all can be resolved. You as well as the other instructors this student has are all in a difficult situation. :hug:

Frank - Of course there are room for more prayers. I will keep you, your mom, and all of your family in my prayers.:hug:

Debbie - I do a bit of medical transcription from home. For me it has worked out well. Although, I wish I could take on more but I just can't sit for that long.:o:(

Blues Girl - Welcome back!! Glad to see you post.

Kitty 09-04-2008 06:52 PM

Prayers for your Mom, Frank. And you, too. :hug:

Barb, I didn't get offended by your post - I'd be surprised if anyone here did. You have a legitimate concern.

Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL's cousin.

Night ya'll! :winky:

Vonn07 09-04-2008 07:18 PM

hey there ...

had some internet probs yesterday and couldn't sign on ... and missed over 7 pages of posts! whew!! but I did read and 'gawk' at the pics, thanks Kay!!

well, got a 185/200 on my negotiations final ... (10 essays) ... for the whole course - >> A

well, back to cleaning and organizing ... gets tough in a small space .. thinking of you all ... :)

NaeNae 09-04-2008 08:07 PM

While I am certain that the vet needs some counseling, I am not sure security needed be notified, has he actually threatened anyone or written something threatening? Ok obviously the dwelling on death isn't healthy or normal and the guy definitely needs some help but will constant scrutiny to someone already emotionally on the edge by I am assumed armed security personnel going to help him or push him even closer. I was not there so cannot feel your feelings but I know his feelings firsthand from a father who suffered horribly from PTSD after 4 tours in Vietnam and think something like a security investigation of him might be pushing him a bit far after all since he is on meds I assume he is active in getting treatment for his issues?

Either way, you should not feel threatened either as I said I wasn't there.

Good news!!!!!!!!!! I got a for sure job offer working for a super sweet doctor, and the hospital was very interested in giving me back my old job and are preparing a salary offer for Monday. Leaning towrds the doctor, the hours are better and the stress is less.....and they both know about my MS and said it was fine with them!

FinLady 09-04-2008 08:40 PM

Congrats, Renee!!!!!!!!!! Too cool. :)

weegot5kiz 09-04-2008 09:53 PM

thats good news on the job, I think I would go with docs office, especially if what they are doing to these nurses in the hospital is what they might be doing there, cut number of nurses and gave them more paitents, they are always going in too many directions, congrats again

Blues Girl 09-05-2008 12:25 AM

Frank, I will be keeping you and your mom in my prayers.:hug:

Trish, Thank you for the welcome back!:)

Jenn, Hope your sx are better tomorrow. I know the bad days can be frustrating.

Von, An "A"!!! Congratulations!!!

Renee, I'm happy for you! Congratulations!! That is good news!

It's been a lazy day. Raining and gloomy. I've slept most of the day, and now I'm ready to go to bed for the night.

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.:)

barb02 09-05-2008 02:12 AM

Congrat's Renee!; Welcome blues girl!

Vonn07 09-05-2008 07:52 AM

congrats, Renee ...:yahoo:

well, today is the round-robin HOG ride (leaving at 430) ... we just had rain from GUSTAV all day yesterday - and some wind, but - it's gone now - just waiting for the skies to clear a bit.

received my final grades for both classes - As ... and it was a tough course to get thru with all those assignments and papers ... and moving, getting set up, and participating .. one more class to go in November, then my final course in January!

still waiting for the decision from SSDI since I went to see their doctor over 2 weeks ago now (the 19th of August) ..

hope everyone has a great weekend ... and behave (that means you, too, Frank!) ... :Grin-Nod:

Debbie D 09-05-2008 08:01 AM

Frank,
So sorry to hear about your mom...prayers going out for her, and for you:hug:

Renee-here's hoping for some good news...it's good to hear that you got those job offers...

Vonn-Congrats on the grades!

Boy, we got socked with 2.6" of rain yesterday...my pond was filled to the top, but the fish behaved and stayed in the pond. My DH and I are tempted to get some more fish...our top pond needs some, but the days of warm weather are declining, and the fish will hibernate soon. So I'm trying to hold off until next spring. I love watching the fish...they all have personalities. I'll miss going out onto the patio and feeding them...:(
Have a great weekend everyone!!

JustWeave 09-05-2008 08:22 AM

Here. DH warned me he would be in a very foul mood when he got home last night. I braced myself and was relieved to fall into bed late at night without incident. Not I'm not stupid. Just because last night was quieter than I anticipated doesn't mean things have improved. I'm not entertaining that hope for a split second.

DS had a meningitis shot yesterday (new school requirement) and now he has a fever, body aches, and nausea. He is at school but for who knows how long. Figures I would have plans for today that take me outside the house. They will still be there next week.

Thanks for your continued hugs and kind words. I wish too Sandy that I lived closer to some people I've met here. You and some others will never know the inspiration you are to me. I'd name names but don't want swelled heads and am sure I would forget at least one person.

Things to do better get moving.

tkrik 09-05-2008 08:23 AM

Renee - YEAH!!!!! I am so happy for you. Let us know which one you choose.

Von - Congrats on the A's! That is awesome. Have fun on the ride today.

Debbie - I love watching fish swimming around. It is so relaxing.

Hi everyone else! I hope everyone has a good day.:hug:
~~~
Not much going on here today. Have some errands to run today and then lunch with one of my old bosses.
soxmom 09-05-2008 08:25 AM
Renee Congrats to you girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think a smaller doc office sounds
nice too..............Im sure you are thrilled.
Frank..........Ill be keeping your mom and family in my prayers.
Sandy..........I hope Jim is feeling better.
Everyone else good morning and happy friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me..........I just put my youngest on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten
about an hour ago. Ive never had one crying and not wanting to go but
now I have. It must be contageous as Ive been crying since he got on
the bus:o
I have a friend who works at the school and I think I will call her and ask
her to peek in on him a little later this a.m.:) If I know he is having
a fun time Ill be okay.
So its just me and Molly(my dog).
Everyone have a lovely day.
:hug::hug::hug::hug:s to the room.
tkrik 09-05-2008 08:26 AM
Weave - Hang in there! We are all praying for you.
Sox - I have cried with both DDs as the entered kindergarten and a few times in the following grades. Have a nice relaxing morning and take some time for yourself so you will be refreshed when the kids get home.
JustWeave 09-05-2008 09:49 AM
DS and severe reaction to meningitis shot
If it ain't one thing it is another! DS seems to be having a severe reation to the meningitis shot he got yesterday. He is still in school but I got a call from the nurses office that he was there. He has an appt to see our doc late this afternoon. I fear another disease has reared its head. DH knows what is going on and is ready to lash out at docs. Will update when I can.
FinLady 09-05-2008 10:00 AM
Weave, :hug::hug: Still in my thoughts. Hope DS feels better soon
Vonn, Way to go!!!! That's great to hear about the grades. Hope you have great weather for the ride later on. Have fun!
Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning all. :Wave-Hello::thud:

The rain has come to our neck of the woods. Hoping it helps to drop the humidity. Actually the thunder is what finally woke me up, LOL.

Trying to make a to do list that enables me to remain a good girl. :Boy(angel-flying):

Sounds like we're getting another round of thunder, so gonna take off for now. Take care everyone. :hug:

Kitty 09-05-2008 11:19 AM

Hi everyone! I went to get my hair trimmed this morning and had four inches taken off!!! I feel naked!!

Weave, I hope your son feels better. Glad he's going to the Dr.

Sox, I can relate....in fact, the first day my youngest rode the bus I followed it to school in my car!! :o He wanted to ride it...begged me to let him...so I said okay. He was so excited. I was a mess. I felt so ridiculous riding umpteen car lengths behind the bus - like anyone on it knew who I was or that I was trailing it - and of course it made it to school just fine. Maybe you can fix his favorite snack and have it waiting for him when he gets home. That should make both f you feel better. Did your friend check on him? How's he doing?

Everyone else - my cog fog is rolling in so I'll just tell you all to have a good day and stay out of trouble! Yes, Frank, I was directing that zinger at you!!

JustWeave 09-05-2008 11:24 AM

School gave DS tylenol and I decided to pull him out for the day. I figure I can keep tabs on him better than a teacher with 20 or so students can. Naturally he said he was feeling better when I met him. Have him settled in at home anyway. What can I say... I'm a mother and he is my baby. Never mind that my baby is 12 years old. His symptoms are the kind you don't mess with. Doc appt is still a go. Better safe than sorry.

Kitty 09-05-2008 11:33 AM

I'd have done the same thing, Weave. Better safe than sorry. I hope it's just a temporary side effect from the shot and subsides soon. :hug:

ewizabeth 09-05-2008 12:14 PM

Good morning everybody, :)

I had reply notes at my desk at home, but I'm at work. Forgive me if I miss somebody due a reply. :paperbag:

Renee',

HOORAY on the two job offers! I hope you'll be paid well and get good benefits too.

Vonn,

Yay on the A's!!! Enjoy your hog ride today!

Sandy,

Your paint colors sound nice, do you want to do my kitchen next? :wink: Pretty please???? :circlelove: Tell Jim I hope he'll feel better soon with the abx treatment.

Barb,

I feel for you having to deal with that young man in class. He sounds like he really needs help and I think you did the right thing. :hug:God bless him, I hope he'll be better eventually.

Kay,

Your baby goats are adorable. :) It sounds like things are really hopping down your way with all the building going on!

Blues Girl,

Welcome back!

Weave,

I'll keep you in my prayers... :hug:

Frank,

I'll keep your Mom in my prayers as well. :grouphug:

Sox and Kelly,

I remember the day my youngest got on that school bus! :Bawling:

Fin,

We had the rain yesterday. :) It was much needed too! Today it's cool at 63 degrees and cloudy. I can live with this! The weather is supposed to be nice in the 70's all weekend!

Tkrik,

Enjoy your lunch today!

Debbie,

It must be so nice to have ponds! :) I'd just love that! We used to have an aquarium with two huge goldfish, Goldie and Whitey. Whitey died and Goldie went into a deep depression. He'd go into a dark corner and stay there, and hardly eat at all.

We had two bottom feeders too, Hoover and Kirby. :D

My update:

It's slow at the office today. I got a lot of planting and garden work done the past week. I put pics in my profile if anybody is interested. I haven't been able to garden for years due to the MS. I was able to go off a few meds this year, and think that maybe the Tysabri is helping me somewhat? Anyway, it's heavenly for me to work in the garden. I hope this lasts forever. :) It will be nice all weekend too so I can enjoy it. I just can't wait until spring so I can do some more serious planting!

Have a good weekend everybody!!! :grouphug:

NaeNae 09-05-2008 12:36 PM

UPDATE FOR SANDY AND JIM :

Sandy texted me and I called her back, she wanted me to let everyone know they were at this hospital doing a CT scan on Jims sinuses and some lab and that they were possibly going to admit him. She will call me later, to let me know, so I can let you know!

MY UPDATE:

I accepted the office job and I start on Monday, my doc is going to Sedona for a week so that will be a good time for me to get all of the mandatory training out of the way. They have good benefits and better hours, and I am starting out at the highest amount they are allowed to pay LPN's they said to make up for it they will give me bonuses and I will also get profit sharing. I was going to go buy scrubs and my doc said no, wait let me just go open an account at the uniform shop and I will buy your scrubs too!

FinLady 09-05-2008 01:49 PM

Renee, that doc's office sounds so cool. Good to hear you got the job :)

Sandy, sorry to hear about the update on Jim. :hug: Prayers going out.

NaeNae 09-05-2008 02:40 PM

LOL thought I'd share cause it makes me smile every time I think about it, I know all the parents will get it!

Over the play area in my docs office is a sign.....Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy.

While not 100% sure doc leans toward bad timing for getting the shot since a virus is making its rounds. Whew! Will keep a close eye on him and pump him full of tylenol.

yeahbut 09-05-2008 06:34 PM

Congrats on the Job Renee.... Sandy give :hug: to Jim - Congrats to Vonn on your grades

Jim is in the bedroom getting ready to go back to bed soon. We are both tired after the all day affair. Jim will be admitted Monday if the culture comes back resistant to oral antibiotics. I hope it is the same as last Sunday and the Macrobid is working.

I stopped at Walgreens and picked up more sinus headache meds, Vicks and nasal spray. We're locked and loaded!

OMG I spent almost 100 bucks today on 4 pairs of underwear! Now I know it takes a lotta fabric to cover my behind but 100 bucks for underwear? Is there a shortage of spandex somewhere? Holy carp! :holysheep:
