no time to read thru...wow...new thread and 13 pages....
getting kids and I ready for church....might have to bring kleenex..hehe...as the priest here in town will probably mention Madeline...when he sees us home... although, my mom last night said she wasnt sure she could do it..hear our priest talk of Madeline after all of it....and my dad just called and said she isnt going..she is aching all over........it must be hard.... The funeral was lovely..the place was great...such nice pics stuff made...just like that website....wow... Although, It was tough....my leg kept going weak..or numb like...so occasionally I had a limp...new to me..new to others..as many were wondering what is up with me.....if I was dxed and knew haha My hubby was asked to be a pall bearer..sp? and my sisters and I were asked to bring up the gifts. Anyhow...beautiful service for a wonderful lady....the night of wake...at one point the welcomed ppl to come up and speak of a memory....guess what I BRAVED IT...and spoke of Maddies birth....and the peace I felt with Madeline..there.....only one to speak that night ...at mass there were three speakers up for sharing....and what touching stories.. see Madeline was involved in Gymnastics judging state finals even in MI....so that group lvoed her....she had kept all the college buddies together year after year for a get together each year. She was very involved at the University she teached at....so many touched. My bro in law....is a bit lost I think..but he has strong faith...so i know he will manage....but to think of just being about 50....the three kids grown enough to be out on own...and losing the wifey of so many years.... well sorry if tearing anyone up..hugsssss, sarah (home and ok) |

Sarah, :hug::hug: Thanks for sharing.
Frank, LOL. Love those smiley's Take care of yourself. ~~~~~~~ Morning all! Sitting here sipping my coffee and planning my day. Trying to figure out what absolutely needs done today. Feeling a little wiped out, but trucking on. LOL, the ever moving wall of endurance. :Bang-Head: Hopefully starting a regular bedtime starting tonight will help. Plus I'm looking into yoga for exercise since my neuro gave me the ok to try it. He agreed when I talked to him about what happened with the water aerobics that it was more harm than help. Crossing fingers that this helps. :) Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug: |
Sarah, thanks for letting us know you got home safely. I'm sorry you had to make the trip under the circumstances but glad it was a beautiful memorial.
Ya'll are not going to believe what we're (or I should say Kevin is) doing this morning. He has the step ladder and the Oreck hand held and is cleaning all the high corners and crevaces (we have vaulted ceilings), the ceiling fans and the tops of the kitchen cabinets!! He also cleaned the vents in the hallway!! There was dust everywhere so maybe we'll breathe better after it's all gone! I didn't even ask him to do it....he just got up this morning and started it himself. Hmmm....maybe I should pay better attention to my house cleaning skills.....:o. He knows I can't do that kind of stuff....and I appreciate it so much. Nothing much to do today...I'm still really dizzy. I see the Neuro tomorrow so we'll see what he says. Have a good Sunday!! :grouphug: |
thanks great, Kelly ... enjoy the extra help ... and maybe go for a ride and treat him to an ice cream!
Hey Sarah ... glad to hear that you're home ... everything is such a whirlwind right now .. take time to heal ... good to see you up and at'tem this morning, Jenn! morning all ;) UPDATE:: working on deciding what to bring to the review tomorrow with my artwork ... thanks, Jenn, about the artist resume ... will look into it this afternoon ... have a great day - a heat wave is coming thru here ... about 81 for high .. that's too hot for me! and then by wednesday - back in the 50s .. :yahoo: |
Good morning everyone. Ugh, the morning started out not so good. My oldest son decided to drink at the college football game and was the talk of the campus. He accidently went into the women's bathroom instead of the man's and everyone thought it was funny. We didn't at all. He could have been arrested for public intoxication and ruined his career as a future teacher. He was ripped into this morning and was demanding to know who told us. I never told him who it was but lectured him on drinking and getting stupid was not acceptable at all. We ended on a good note but he knows I wont tolerate it. He's a senior and I know he wants to get his last hoorah out as a senior but taking risks that could lose him his career is not acting like a mature man. Gosh, we still have to lecture no matter how old they get.
Anyway, I am heading out to clean up the garden in a bit while Jim watches the game. GO BEARS! Frank, they are better than everyone thought so who knows? lol Sarah, thanks for sharing with us. Kelly, tell those boys we think they are awesome for helping you so much. :D Everyone have a great day and stay cool. It's going to be hot today here and the humidity is already seeping in. Our bedroom is the hottest area in the house and we've never figured out why except it is exposed to the full sun more. :grouphug: to all those who I missed and all those who need it today. |
Hope everyone had a good day today. :grouphug:
Sitting here waiting for dinner to finish cooking. Just some good old fashioned baked chicken covered with cream of mushroom soup and french onion soup mix. Other than that, it's been a pretty quiet day. Making plans and dreams, and hoping all goes well. Hubby's still a little under the weather and napping on the couch again. to all. :) |
Kell, that's awesome about your helpful son!
I just loved it when my sons did something thoughtful. San, I get it about your son... mine jeopardized more than his career when he did something stupid like that as a high school senior... he's lucky he lived to tell about it.................... he learned his lesson though, after I grounded him until he turned 18. good raising will tell, in the end. he now teaches children rock-climbing at a summer camp, and skiing during winter, with his degree in Child Psych and an education minor. I just hate it when they're more worried about who narcked them out, than how inappropriate their behaviour was... <sigh> Sarah, glad you got back home safely. Jenn, you got that recipe handy? that's what I want, right now, some soothing comfort food... Vonny, hope the interview-thingie goes well! Frank, don't worry about being your regular chatty self, we understand there's lots to do, and lots of sharing-time needed with your son... how's he doing by the way? *goes to the freezer for another bit of medicinal chocolatty goodness* ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............................ ... gotta stop those leg cramps, ya know? :D:):D |
I finished the back yard!!!!! I cut back the whole garden, moved some plants, separated some hostas and hauled the greenery to my neighbors house. I then planted 100 bulbs around my deck. I am completely wiped but I am almost done. I still have to trim a few bushes and pull a few more weeds but the largest project is done. My mom didn't understand why we do this so early. lol Silly mom.
I am off to call Tammy and then make some soup, Campbells Chicken Noodle. I have never stopped liking that soup! MmmmmmGood! |
Good morning all :) Happy Columbus Day!!!
Just sitting here sipping my morning coffee. Watching the morning mist disapate with the dawn. I forgot how much I loved this time of day when the sun comes up. :) Feeling good thus far. Supposed to be a warm one today, so may do some yard work before it gets too hot. Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug::grouphug: ~~~~~~ Kay, the chicken recipe is easy. LOL, it's from my very first cookbook after we got married. It's called "Where's mom now that I need her?". A really good first cookbook that teaches the basics. Might be hard to find the ingredients in the jungle, but it's just chicken covered with a can of cream of mushroom soup mixed with milk (measured using empty can soup was in). Sprinkle with dry french onion soup mix. salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook for 1 hour at 350. Sandy, great job getting that backyard done. :yahoo: |
Good Morning to you! There is nothing better than sitting watching the sun rise with a nice cup of coffee!
Unfortunately I am sipping my coffee at work today. No one is here though, so it is very peaceful. I will be able to sit and chat with you all today. I am very tired from an adventurous weekend. But it was such a great weekend, one that I won't forget. We went camping and it was the first time my 12yo DS has gone. At first he thought he was going to be bored...but he loved it and wanted to stay longer! I was so happy! Today is just working and going to DS's hockey game tonight. I wish I could have stayed home...there is plenty of laundry and cleaning to do! Kelly - what a great DS you have! I would have to beg and pay mine to do that! Have a great Columbus Day everyone! :) |
Good Morning!
Sarah thanks for sharing your Madeline with us. I have felt like I knew who even though it was through you.... Kelly that is great about Kevin! Would he like to come to Maine? Jenn - hope your hubby is better today? Vonn - good luck today, keep us posted! Sandy - would you like to come to Maine and do some yard work? I have a flower garden that I need to clean out and get the tarp over it, just don't have the energy! I have a room for you and Jim to stay in while you are here!!!:D GG - nice to see you! Glad you had a great weekend, I thought of you many times. Kay - we love to rock climb here in Maine also! I need to post some pics in my profile. ~~~~~~~ The DD both came for dinner last night which was wonderful. DD2 came to us a couple of months ago saying she had seen the Air Force recruiter and was going to enlist as soon as she turned 18. We gave her our support cause that is what she wants to do. Last night she came in with an arm full of college information and has decided to at least apply and see if she gets accepted and then decide what she wants to do. I was happy!!! She wants to go into Radiology like her sister. I want to try to get some pictures today - the leaves out front are in full peak! Will try to post some later today. Need to get moving first and that isn't going to fast! have a great day everyone! |
Good morning all! :grouphug:
I'm at the office today so just a quick check in. I'm tired but happy because I got a lot of yard work done this weekend. I planted bulbs on Saturday, and mowed the grass on Sunday. I vegged in between and slept late on Saturday. :) Didn't get the bathrooms cleaned, but maybe Wednesday. Outside work comes first since it's weather dependent. Rocky has been a rascal lately, and we have to start closing the bedroom door at night. He tries to get us to play and/or feed him starting around 5am most days. DH gets the worst of it and has been sleep deprived. I'm hoping he won't find alternative mischief because of the door being closed. Have a great day everyone. :grouphug: |
morning troopers ... hey, Girlie Girl .. nice to see you ... have a nice day at work!!
well, I have a pile of goodies to take today:: oil paintings, acrylic painting (done on a leaf and framed), quilted items: pillow covers, pillowcases, table runners and some quilt tops ... plus, my painting portfolio and a quilting portfolio .. and a calligraphy item that I done back in 1985 ... with the calligraphy - I've made/screened t-shirts, sweatshirts ... all by hand ... and do small items - and letter envelopes ... nothing fancy .. haven't done the resume thing yet ... will check it out this morning before I leave around 130pm .. have a great day everybody ... what sort of bulbs did you plant, Sandy & Wiz?? pictures pictures!! |
Good Morning! I'm just getting ready for my Neuro appointment. I know it isn't until 1 PM but I have a couple of stops to make before I get there. Wish me luck!!
Wiz, I can totally relate to the cat thing. My cat Tigger is like a newborn.....wants to eat every 4 or 5 hours. He's sitting by the bed at 5 AM making little purring/meowing noises. When I look over the side of the bed he sees me and flops down on the floor and stretches out just as far as he can so I can rub his tummy. He's such a goof....and I just cannot get upset with him he's so cute! If I were to close my door they would scratch a hole in the wall! Gracie is not quite as bad but she is older and I think she just lets Tigger do all the dirty work and she shows up for the benefits! :p It's nice here today but supposed to be very warm tomorrow through Thursday. I want some cool weather, dang it!! :hissyfit: OK...gotta go get dressed. I want to go buy cat food and I have to go to PetSmart because it's prescription formula plus it's cheaper there. I'll update once I'm home from the Neuro's! :grouphug: |
Vonn, Good luck today. :)
Girlie Girl, Glad DS had fun camping. Char, Hubby is still sniffly, but he's doing much better. Wiz, hope you have a quiet workday. ~~~~ Went out to do some yard work and realized I needed to go get some of those bags for clippings :Bang-Head:- LOL. Forgot I used up the last when I went through the clean up from the windstorm. I might not get to the yard until tomorrow if it warms up on me as quickly as they say it's going to. So it's off to do some shopping. :) |
Vonn, sending good will out to you today. Good luck!
Girlie Girl, good to see you! Glad you guys had fun camping. Char, I would love to come help you. We should all move to the same state, same area, same neighborhood so we can help each other all year. I am happy to hear DD may want to do college first before the military. Don't get me wrong, I am from a military family and Jim was in the 101st Airborne. I just don't think NOW is the time to join. My oldest is thinking about joining after college. I feel better about that since going in with a degree ranks you at officer status and more money too! Maybe she'll do college first and then military. Wiz, I am so sore this morning! My hands mostly from cutting and digging. I wasn't able to save one of the bleeding hearts but I have one more that should start growing by spring. Just in time for you! Kelly, good luck today and please do let us know what the doc says. Jenn, glad to hear hubby is feeling better. I need some yard bags, can you pick me up a few? :D MY UPDATE: Nothing much. I need to break down some boxes for recycling and then maybe clean up the garage a little. My garage floor is filthy. Anyone know a quick way to clean it? I don't have a power washer. to those who haven't checked in yet. I hope your doing OK. |
Vonn you need to put up some pics of the calligraphy - would love to see them. We need to talk about creating a website for you! I can help there and there are sights that are either free or very cheap!
Jenn - DD2 was sniffing yesterday and starting a cold, that isn't what I need right now! Wiz & Sandy what kind of bulbs? I would love to plant some but not sure what to do this time of year?? Kelly & Wiz I can relate to the cat stories too! When I left the ex the girls and I went and got two kittens - George and Buttercup (both suppose to be girls but ended up being both boys!) Buttercup lives with my parents now and he does the whole 5 am wanting to play and eat with them. They close the bedroom door to keep him out. |
Char, one set was Iris's and the other was Dutch Irish something. lol I am not good with names and threw the bags out. I am a visual garden person. If it looks good and works with the area I want to plant, I buy it. My neighbors down the street have to come over to tell me the names. hahaha I'll try to get picks for you from the place I bought them.
|
it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood, wont you be my neighbor ? lol don't ask ... for some awful reason i have the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood song in my head ... so i am passing it on to you all ... i think it has something to do with good friends, excellent coffee and the freshly baked cinnamon rolls that frank made this morning ... we are waiting for our oldest to get here then its house and yard work ... yes it's my day off ... i have roses to trim down and weeds to pull ... gonna mow yard again (for last time i hope) weed eat the edges ... trim the bushes ... basically get the yard ready for winter ... then its in the house we go ... paint the boys room ... paneling the wall in our room and then paint it ... paint the kitchen ... and maybe get the bathroom painted too ... i doubt it will all get done but we are going to give it one huge try .... sandy ... hmmm does the son not know the difference between the man and woman stick figures??? seems like we are always going to have to keep our kids in line .... even when they are grown ... vonn ... good luck today with your interview ... i am sure it will go well for you ... especially when you show your quilts ... kelly ... good luck with your neuro appointment today ... i have fingers crossed that you hear only good news there ... beth ... you and sandy can come plant bulbs here ... just kidding ... i hope your time at work wasn't hectic ... i know there is lots more but for the life of me i just cant remember what everyone said ... lol ... so to everyone else ... have a great day |
Thanks everyone! With all the talk of planting and yard work, I think I am taking a half day today and am going to work outside. It is so beautiful out and I don't want to miss the opportunity!
Char-I took some great foliage pics on my trip this weekend to NH. I will have to post them for you all. Get out there quick and click away! |
okay ... I did it ... I've now added another album and posted my first calligraphy project that I did back in 1985 ... I think you all will enjoy it!

Cool - can't wait GG!
Thanks Sandy! just went and walked around outside and took some pics! Here is a couple but I will put more in my profile! |
wow ... love your colors ... I'll be out this afternoon and see what I can find ...
love love love the pink tree/bush!! |
Char, those colors are beautiful! Now you making me want to go to Tennessee again where the colors are pretty this time of year.
|
Good Morning or Afternoon! I just wanted to check in for a moment. I have given up trying to read all of the posts I missed.:o
I had a decent time on my weekend trip, but have trouble with realizing I cannot do evertything I use to do. The temp was in the eighties, and I got pretty tired really quickly. I also was afraid that my friends were getting annoyed with me always being tired. They really do not get it. We did some shoppping, went swimming at the hotel pool, toured a botantical garden, and ate at some good restaurants. The trees had not changed too much on the Mississippi. I imagaine they will be really pretty in a few weeks. I just got a call from a woman (do not know her title) from my neuro's office and she said she spent 2 1/2 hours working on trying to get authorization for a MRI on Friday and cannot seem to get my new insurance (CIGNA) to acknowledge that they cover me. I have already used it for doctor's appointments and have not had a problem. I switched to this plan from my HMO because it gives me more options -- no referrals are necessary. |
Vonn, Thanks for sharing more of your talent. Too cool.
Deb, Thanks. Now have that song stuck in my head, LOL :D Char, Cool Pics! I miss living more north where it seems like the colors are brighter in the fall. Sandy, sorry. Not sure how else to do a quick clean of a garage floor besides the power washer. :( Kelly, best of luck with the neuro appointment. ~~~~~~~ Taking a break, lol. Hit a wall a little earlier than expected, but will take it in stride. Still have to go get some scripts from the pharmacy, but knew I had to head back to the homestead with the way I was feeling. So I'll rest up and try again later. :mf_swordfight: On the plus side, half the stuff is done getting this art thing of mine official. Only two more things I'm waiting on. :) Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug: |
Thanks everyone! I love fall in Maine! the leaves are falling fast and didn't seem to last as long this year as in past and really are not as vibrant as in years past either. :(
I took the last of $$ on a credit card and purchased a bluetooth for my cell phone..... :o with the recent changes in my hands and arms I have been having a really hard time talking on the phone, I have been having to cut people off after just a few minutes cause my hands would both go to sleep. I have to admit I am loving this feature! :D I asked a friend what she has and also spoke with my tech guys at the local Verizon store and all recommended the same one. I knew my friend did all the research before she purchased hers so that saved me a lot of work! and she also gave told me the amazon website to get it pretty cheap - saved myself almost 1/2 the cost. I hated spending the money especially since I don't have any to spend but I am thinking this was well worth the expense! I posted more pics in my profile if you have a chance or would like to see more! |

I found a source for cases of Campbell's mushyroomy soup last month. chicken, well, I've got about a hundred running around. milk we got, from Lilah... about a quart a day, just enough to cream our coffees, make a bit of cheese and yogurt, and use in cooking, YAY !! salt and pepper no problemo, except we have to store the salt very carefully, or it just turns into a puddle in this humidity. we keep it in a shaker with rice, so it flows, and bulk storage in tight-sealing glass mason jars... but the French Onion Soup, that's gonna be difficult, will start hunting next foray to the big town... it's always a scavenger hunt to procure needed items... or sometimes we beg visitors... to hit the duty-free shops at airports, or bring in fresh batteries, or GOOD cookware (cast iron pans are unheard of here, it's all aluminum and cast aluminum, blah!) thanks for the recipe, I saved it to a file, so when I find the onion soup, I can whip it up. oddly enough, ONE place I can find old familiar cooking is the Mennonite restaurant in Spanish Lookout, food just like my grandma used to make, scalloped potatoes, dumplings, gravy, beef stroganoff, oh YEAH !!! and only $7 bucks for an all-you-can-stuff-in buffet... casseroles and mashed potatoes, and stewed chicken galore... yummy! :grouphug::hug::grouphug: |
I'm still having a struggle keeping it all together between work, house, kids, Grandma, neuro problems, brain death, etc. I'm too tired to even figure out how to fix things and make it work. At this point, I need a two week vacation, a maid, a landscaper, an accountant and personal secretary just to get back on track.
Went to the neuro a little over a week ago and he set me up with a plan to consume even more hours of my time. I had a new brain MRI last Friday - that took about 4 hours of my time between the 3 failed and 1 successful attempts to start an IV and the hospital bieng overbooked. I have a 4+ hour date with a special neuro in a balance center on Friday to get his take on my balance / nystagmus issues. I have a 4 - 6 hour appt with a neuro-opthalmologist next week to see about the tracking / nystagmus issues. I am also getting a new neuropsych eval done over the course of the next 2 weeks - one appt is about an hour or two and the next appt is for 4 hours. Then, he also ordered OT for my fine motor skills issues with my hands and he also ordered a 3 day course of IVSM for after the testing is all done. On a good note, I did go over to the brand new Sonic that opened across from my office and I just finished stuffing myself with a Sonic Cheeseburger with the works, onion rings and a sweet tea with cranberry flavor shot. It was divinely yummy and worth the long wait and calories. |
Hi Everyone,
I can't keep up with all the posts. I try and try but just can't do it.:p:p I hope everyone is doing ok. It's so nice to finally see Fall coming and not have to live with the A/C on constantly. I've been trying to recover from my wisdom tooth and molar being extracted. It's been a strange thing for me since I have never had teeth problems or a tooth pulled and to deal with a wisdom tooth at age 57 is really weird.:( It's also very expensive.:( I can tell that the wisdom tooth has healed and the skin flap over it looks really good.:) I think I have a dry socket in the molar area.:( I could open my mouth wide enough to look Friday night or Saturday, I can't remember the day. It looks like a deep hole with stitches around it so I think the stitches must have pulled loose.:( Nothing hurts too bad but my jaw line is still tender. I have an appointment at 3 this afternoon to see the oral surgeon for my follow up so I guess I will find out what is going on in there. UGH I don't feel good but it's not from my MS, I just don't feel good.:( Take care guys.:hug: |
Vonn,
Here are pics from Brecks. I can't wait for these to come up in the springtime! :) I planted the following on Saturday, 123 bulbs in all. http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_67308 http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_67264 http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_67315 http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_67359 For next summer I'll be planting some of these, they'll ship in May: http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_19752 http://brecks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_19794 I like planting bulbs because most of them keep coming back for years. and you only buy them once. The cannas will have to be dug up in the fall though because they're only hardy to zone 8 which is probably Georgia or Tennessee? |
((((Holly and Becky))))

Hey ya'll.....just got home from my Neuro appt. I'm posting an update on the LDN thread 'cause this forum really isn't appropriate and I want to get some LDNer's take on it, too. :D

My oldest came home from college and it was wonderful to have him here........he left to go back about an hour ago.:( We went to a fall festival on Saturday. It was in the hilltowns about 15 min away. The colors were just breathtaking. I kept thinking to myself, I couldnt live anywhere else as I would be so sad to miss this. Every shot belonged on a calendar. We went apple picking and for a hay ride yesterday. Then we came home and made applesauce. Cant get much better applesauce then that.... fresh from the tree.:D Today is a recuperation day for me but I would nt have missed all the activites for the world.:) Im looking foreward to the baseball game on in an hour. Hugs to everyone............Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
