I'm so sorry sox. Do you know if it's both 2nd & 3rd degree? Maybe if the hot pot hit you or where the water first touched, it is 2nd degree. Both those hurt. A sunburn is 1st degree. A 2nd degree blisters the skin. One time I had all 3. I had a seizure & dropped or put a hot iron on my leg. Maybe I sprayed it too cuz I had 3 little 1st degree burns. In a larger area (about 2x2) I had 2nd & 3rd. I know it was 2nd becauase the skin was broken & (ready for this) I could see the fat in my leg, Ewww. But a 3rd degree doesn't hurt because the nerves are dead.
I hope you didn't put anything on the 2nd degree part, if you had it. Fat & creams can hurt & make it worse. Just put cold water on it then "dressing"(bandage). Put a bag of frozen peas on it now & then if you don't have one of those ice bags. If you are to have a mamogram, I bet it will be canceled. Accualy, by the time this gets up maybe the Dr appt. is over. Good Luck with everything. -- Wouldn't you love it if the weather was like this & you could take off your shirt & go lay face down? lol http://bestsmileys.com/cold/9.gif |

It has been one of those days. Went into pcp's to get blood work done, and it took them 4 tries and 2 different people to hit a vein. Then I taught my class poorly. Plus I am sure the students were disappointed not to get their tests back. (I feel so guilty if I do not return their exams and papers within a week even though I do not know of any of my colleagues that share this guilt. Sometimes they take over a month. I kept mixing up words in class.
I go out to my car and find a 250.00 fine on it by campus police because I forgot to hang my disability placard. So I had to go off to the campus police station and stand in line while lots of students tried to get out of their parking fines. They were very nice to me and immediately fixed my ticket. I probably looked pretty pitiful by them as I just wanted to come home and cry. I am still dealing with the reality of more lesions. I guess I have been pretending for awhile that even though I am on no treatment that the disease was not going to progress any further. Well, reality bit me in the posterior yesterday. When I go to St. Louis, I need to ask some questions regarding the location of these lesions and the size of them. My neuro showed me the report, but of course I cannot really remember anything it said except that I had three new lesions. I know that I should also ask for a copy of the report. Ok, I am home early today so I am going to take a nap while my clothes wash. Sorry I did not respond to any of your posts. I do think I caught up with the ones from today. |
I'm sitting here in the sunroon/den watching the birds at the feeders and there must be 20 bluebirds out there. They're beautiful....sort of a periwinkle blue with the rust colored breast. We don't get them often here...they must be on their way to Florida.
Barb... Sorry the MRI showed new lesions. I know you're still trying to decide which DMD to take. My Neuro kept suggesting the very aggressive ones, too, and wouldn't listen to any of my opinions. Not sure that I'll be going back to him. His bedside manner leaves alot to be desired....plus as of 12/31 I won't have any insurance so doctor visits will be saved for when I'm sick. I just made two pans of cornbread to go with our chili tonight. I'll freeze one of them (maybe....:o) if it's still uneaten after supper. The lawn service came through this morning and sprayed the lawn with something...not sure what but it stinks!! Smells like fertilizer of some sort. Must be the HOA that send them cos I sure don't pay them for the service...and they do everyone's lawn in the subdivision. Our grass is almost that sandy color now that it's gotten cooler. Good....no more mowing! Is anyone else getting a bizillion catalogs in the mail everyday? What a waste of paper. Some of the stores I have called and asked to be taken off the mailing list but I'm not sure how much good that will do. Guess I'll have to wait until next Christmas to see. The only catalog I enjoy looking at is the one from Hickory Farms. When I was growing up my Dad's clients used to send him gift boxes of cheese and sausage at Christmas time. I used to love those little triangles of cheese that would be in there!! Some of them sent fruit and cookies......nearly every day in December we'd get something edible in the mail!! It was so exciting. Now, whenever I see a Hickory Farms catalog it makes me think of those days. I hope everybody's having a good day....it's very overcast and quite chilly here (low 50's). I'd love it if it could just stay like this year round. :grouphug: |
oh, Barb!
what an awful DAY for you... and after such disappointing news. I have lousy veins too, very "slippery" one nurse called them. the only GOOD blood-draw I've ever had was my tests to get Residency here. the nurse was from Cuba, and they train to do blood draws with a blindfold on... yep, they have to do it by touch! only one attempt, and no bruising, a first for me... here's how *I* remain in denial regarding my MS... I simply don't get MRIs. I have no idea how many lesions I have now, and haven't known for (lemme think...) oh, it's almost five years since my last MRI. since I'm already on permanent SSDI, and already have a dx of SPMS, there's not much I can do to change things, except adjust my own lifestyle and attitude, and try to keep a positive demeanor. I'm glad they voided your ticket... it was after two of those forgetfulness episodes that I finally got a disabled license plate, and kept the placard in my purse for when I went out with others. if I wasn't forgetting to put it ON, I was forgetting to take it OFF, and driving around with it dangling from my rearview mirror... :o:cool::o hope you got a good nap, and hey, here's a little trick... put the Doc's number on a post-it, right on the phone reciever, so you'll remember to CALL and get a copy of the report. there's a few "experts" here who can help explain what the jargon means, and decipher the inscrutable terminology... also, it's cool to know which lesions are causing which fun results... I always found that fascinating. anyway, I hope you're back in the pink soon, Barb. :grouphug::hug::grouphug: |
Barb,
so sorry you had such a bad day... the kids will be all right about not getting their papers/tests...especially the kids that don't do well:rolleyes: Take care of yourself... Sox, hope that you can enjoy the holidays now that you know you can put off surgery until afterwards...just take care of yourself, and no more trying to make yourself hot... |
