Frank is it SSI or SSDI? They are different programs.

Copied from SS:
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources. SSI benefits also are payable to people 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial limits

The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program pays benefits to you and certain family members if you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. Your adult child also may qualify for benefits on your earnings record if he or she has a disability that started before age 22.

Just curious if they are filing you in the right program.

Frank... keep ASKING for the SSI ... because you didn't ASK for this disease ... and would love to work, but the disease is holding you up!!

ask them if they had a disease, would they look at it differently??

you didn't commit a crime to be where YOU are at ... YOU are an American and are being discriminated for it ... fight fight fight ...

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts / prayers for my dog. She is hanging in there. She seems pretty peppy today so I hope things are looking up.

I'm heading out of here in half an hour to meet our Joelle and Wkikta at Bravo so I have to get moving. I woke up with a stomach issue, so I really hope they have some soup I can handle. I can hardly wait to meet Joelle. I have met Bill a couple of times before at MSW get togethers and it will be nice to see him again.

Sandy, I may be wrong but I believe what he's saying is that he's on a disability program through his employer. It's not affiliated with SSI or SSDI.

Frank, if I'm wrong just slap me upside the head....http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...mallet_hit.gif

She's right Frank and you can get one that doesn't take their cut until after your approved and/or they work through SS and it is free. You may have to pay back to your disability pension but it should only be if your SS is higher than your disability. Can you tell I went through this with my mom? lol

I do not pay social security taxes; I pay into the state retirement system. Therefore, I can receive disability now if I cannot work, and disability retirement when I am 55 if I am no longer working. Most state workers do not also qualify for SSI of SSDI. I think the same is true for federal workers depending on how long you worked for the post office. The amount of money you receive is number of years worked and income.

no post office workers are not in same catagory as federal workers
