So I'm sitting here not sure why I'm up this late. Hubby's snoring away in bed, and I tried to fall asleep. After an hour, gave up.
The lasagna came out pretty good, and it's always a good sign when the hubby gets seconds. :) |

Frank, Glad your dinner turned out good. No cards here, just some games online to pass the time for me. :o

howdy all...now on oral prednisone, and as you can see the nights are long...
busy weekend...didn't get a chance to check in to see how all are doing...lots of cake, pasta...carbs...can you tell it's getting close to winter? LOL:rolleyes: Saturday, got DH to hang pix on our new blue living rm. wall...2 pix of Mt. McKinley in Alaska that DS and DIL took when on a hiking/canoeing trip there, and 2 pix of our beach in Kauai and the north side of Kauai...one of our favorite places on Earth... I am like a different person again...stiffness gone, energy level up...so I took advantage and cleaned my kitchen cabinets on the inside, where they had gotten pretty gross. Trying to organize and get things cleaned up before all the Xmas decorations come out this week... Had the inlaws over yesterday...they're getting to be a bit overwhelming again for me...she messed up her meds, and thank goodness DH went over and straightened everything up...she's losing weight, having weird problems on top of her declining mental capacities...so they're always in the back of my mind...and so overdependent...she hovered over me all afternoon, wanting to help in the kitchen...so I had her stir the meat sauce for the manicotti I made, had her make the salad (while watching to make sure she didn't put cucumber peels in the salad, and tomato stubs:eek:). Dinner turned out fine, but everything tastes funky, so I didn't enjoy like I usually do...maybe it's a good thing, so I don't gain so much blasted weight like I did last time on oral pred:(... Hope everyone has a great Monday...short work week for some of you!! It's the best holiday in America...the only one where we openly give thanks...which I do for all of you...great support, great laughs, and lots of heart!!:) |
My oral prednisone taper is almost done...today second day of 5mg..then next two days..only 2 mg..then done.... wondering if the high of energy will lax...but being positive cause although numb stuff at times..feeling more upbeat and active....dont think gaining this time..hopefully...I have some to lose lol..
Anniversary for hubby and I today, 18 years...he just crawled into bed after work and said only feels like 10 or less...where does time fly...huh... hugsss all..heading to work after I eat my cheerios...I like cheerios..its what I have if I dont get up and make my oatmeal with blueberrys...(at least I start my day off right) hugsss, sarah |
good morning, good morning!
it's just after 4:30 m, and I'm an early bird today. busy researching H. meleagridis, which we believe to be responsible for the loss of two of the turkey babies... turkeys are much more "fragile" than chickens or ducks, and also, they're susceptible to parasites and bacterial infections that chickens and ducks carry, but don't get sick from... yesterday, we started the turkey babies on abx, and anti-parasite medication for liver flukes and gizzard worms. now I see why people give up on raising turkeys, although they're run to watch, and good to eat, they're a lot of work and expense to care for properly. ah well... :( our guests from England are still here... she's an amateur beekeeper near London, (and in IT for income, lol!), and we had quite an interesting dinnertable discussion, wide-ranging, politics, geek stuff (mi esposo was in IT for 20 yrs), and sustainable farming techniques in the jungle. I directed her to our village beekeeper, and she was pleased-as-punch to see the methods used here, and happy with her purchase of local honey. when you rarely get to interact with well-traveled, highly educated sophisticated-type people, it's quite a treat to sit down to a nice dinner with them. we had baba ganoush (sp?) and fresh-baked pita bread for appetizers, and a main course of stuffed cabbage rolls (Kevin Bacon & rice), with a creamy mushroom sauce, and a re-run on the carrots and potatoes (leftovers from dinner 2 days ago, lol!) all in all, an enjoyable evening. alas, I woke up cramped and achy... my back is still suffering from (stupidly) lifting that 50 lb sack of whole corn... impatient me... because the ducks cock their leetle HAIDS and look soooooooo hungry, and my strong hubby was on the other side of our land... that'll TEACH me some patience, huh? there's a couple of new muscles twanging and zoinging in my left leg. I just HATE waking up in pain... gonna have to TRY and remember to call Dr. Sanchez, and see if he managed to import the Baclofen yet (specially for me). have a happy Monday, everybody! |
