Want some snow? This may be coming Jenn's way. So far we've got almost 3 inches with more to come.

Sandy, those pics are beautiful! I know ya'll are tired of the snow.....I'd take some if it were possible! I won't tell you what the temps are like here today.
|
Sandy that's the view out our bedroom window...all the property around us belongs to my daughter. My Mom gave her the old house I was raised in and 13 acres around it. The pasture you see is where my son keeps his horse. Sorry I didn't get him in the picture. The river that run through the property comes from five different springs so it never freezes. Its called Spring Creek.
What a great place to raise kids, especially boys...fishing.:) I need to get some shopping done and a few cards out...hurry!!! |
Sarah, Your post made me so sad. I know you have been having a rough time. Would they let you go back to your former position? I don't know what to say. I think it is time you had a serious talk with your hubby about your job.
Debbie, this stuff can be so frustrating. Last Spring I was told that my ms was mild (despite my symptoms) and that it was ok (ms specialist) that I was not on any treatment since I had problems with all of the dmd's. Now I have new lesions and my neuro wants me to try imuran or something, despite the fact that my symptoms have not changed. However, my lesions are typical of ms. I guess I'll see what the specialist says when I see her in January. Are you on baclofen now? Sandy, Your party sounds like fun. My older sister just called me and told me that I need to bring one, $10.00 gift and one, $1.00 gift for some game we are going to play at a party. "Both are supposed to be wrapped nicely." She is a tad bit bossy. Tammy, Is that really what you see from your backyard. It is beautiful! Weather report here: about one inch of snow on top of the ice; wintry mix (this means freezing rain, sleet, or snow - they do not know) is on the way. Roads are really slippery; temperature is about 20 degrees. |
Wow, Sandy you need my mountains so we can come skiing! My daughters boy friend went up to our resort that hasn't opened yet and hiked the mountain and had a amazing day. I wish we would have gone up and watched...

it's what lies beneath that ya gotta watch OUT for! time for my insight, oh yeah! it just started POURING rain, and I still have to go a critter-feeding... ARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!! like the mailman, my job goes on, no matter the weather, right? all the fresh food's chopped, prepped, bagged, and bucketed by the door, and I'm STALLING here on the computer, hoping it'll slack off some. that'll leave me a TIGHT window, to finish before it gets dark, oh my goodness... wish me luck! |

|
Kay, wow. That's beautiful! No wonder the bugs and stuff aren't chasing you away. So worth it. Thanks for sharing.
Sandy, Thanks for the pics. We haven't had any snow in our little part yet. They keep saying we're supposed to. Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: |
My relatives are up in Akron for a funeral. My cousin died the other day. I didn't know him well but they did. I hope they get back on the plane tonight before the snow comes.
|
Sandy, so sorry for your loss. Hope they don't have any trouble getting home. I know the northern half of the state had more snow than we did.
|
All of you have posted great pictures. It is fun to see the contrast been the snowy weather in Tami and Sandy's pictures versus Kay's "Garden of Eden" picture. I do miss the snow and love to look at wintery pictures as it brings back great memories.
Sandy - I am sorry to hear about your cousin. As for the visitors . . .Deep breath, deep breath. Don't jinx the situation. |
Sandy, sorry for teh family loss...which is tough around holidays...hugssss
thanks all..thinking I could request to go back but...money wise it would change down to below what I was making before...as they have now put a salary cap on what each position can make....long story... anyhow thinking positive, just I am type when I care about somethign I care too much I guess....hard for me to let my job go at the door when I get home...and that I have ahd with any job I have had...so I gotta learn to let that go....easier said then done... well baking baking here, MandM red and green cookies....and we made Peanut butter kiss cookies.....heading to bed soon...thanks again all, I am ok...hugsss,sarah (just a big sx day, frustrated with memory crap, and numb legs, and no dx..and work and you know cookie baking is fun though hehe) |
(((Sarah))) We all have days like that. Hang in there and know that you are doing a great job.
|
(((((Sarah))))) I wish you could find a different, and less stressful job.
Kay, I love your backyard! Sandy and Jim, yours too! Tamiloo, you and Olhipie live in God's country, you lucky girl! What a breathtaking landscape! Weave, I'm so happy to see you feeling so much happier! Planning for Sunday here... I have recipes printed out and making my grocery list for tomorrow. Had nausea all day long today. It's better now, I'll skip the Provigil tomorrow. Have to see the dentist about a painful tooth. Friday I have my Tysabri infusion, hoping for good weather for our trip into the suburbs. I might see Deb and Frank tomorrow to get one of those beautiful trees. It will brighten our house for Sunday's Christmas party. :) |
Wiz, have fun seeing Deb and Frank if you get a chance! The trees are so pretty in person.
We got about 5 inches of snow, how about you? |
Sandy, so sorry for your loss.
Kayo, Olhipie saw the picture of you back yard a wondered when he could move in. He said he would help feed the critters for all the mango's...what about passion fruit? Can't find in the norhtern Utah...He is on his way...:Sinking: |
Tamiloo-who, your sweet ol' hippie is welcome here anytime, but...
this is one of the *most* wheelchair-inaccessible places I've ever lived. you want ramps, grab-bars, and paths, you have to build them yourself! :o:rolleyes::o I suppose that's part of the adventure of it all, right? see that long piece of string and stakes in the right side of my photo? that's the markings for the paths we laid out so I can get around our tiny patch of paradise... the sand "bed" is already laid, and the cement goes down next. Vonnie's right, the bugs here are simply *beyond* belief !! I wish I had some sort of portable full-coverage NET I could wear when I go out! in my widest dreams, I imagine rolling around in something like THIS: http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/3...enetkx9.th.jpg or a full-body version of THIS, that would fit over my motor-chair: http://www.argoss.co.uk/pictures/mosquito_net_hat.jpg :D:cool::D by the way Tami, your backyard is amazingly beautiful, I spent a lot of time just gazing at that photo... makes me ALMOST miss the snow! ;):winky:;) |
Kay, you need something like the Pope uses when he goes out in public! :p
It's still rainy and muggy here this morning.....it's 64 degrees! We're supposed to be back to the 30's by Monday, though. Usually when it does this it means there's some wicked weather in store for us in the near future. Nothing much planned for today. Just put in a load of laundry. Vacuumed three bedrooms and will clean my bathroom today. That'll be about all I can do. Oh yeah, and probably take a nap! :p I was having the best nap yesterday afternoon.....sleeping so soundly.....and, of course, the phone rang. It was my friend Julie who talked for just a second, told me she was in the bathroom and would call me right back. Never heard from her again...until 7 PM last night! I didn't answer the phone as we were just getting finished with supper. She does this all the time.....can't get mad at her! :D I hope everyone is okay in the frigid northern parts. I'm sure we'll get our share of it soon enough. Ya'll have a good day! :grouphug: |
When I really need to take a deliberate nap, I take the phone off the hook. One of my "friends" complained once (this was back in the day, when I took naps) and said "what if I tried to get hold of you?" I replied, "You couldn't get hold of me if I'd been gone shopping, just pretend I'm gone shopping." I was actually thinking, "Oh, so sorry, didn't realize it was all about YOU!"
|
Wiz - I do hope you get to meet up with Frank & Deb. That would be fun. Hope your tooth starts feeling better as well as your stomach.
Kelly - DD18 instinctively knows when I am going down for a nap. I will be on the verge of a going to sleep and she will call. And, if she is home at that time she will come in my room just to tell me something non urgent. I hope you get a good nap in today. Kay - The bugs and humidity would get to me. We have some nasty ones here but nothing compared to what you have. Good morning everyone else. I hope you all are staying warm, feeling well, and have a good day. |
Sandy- Sorry for your loss.
Sarah-:hug::hug: Wish there was some way to simplify your work life. Those with frozen stuff in your yard- You can keep it as I got enough of my own frozen carp here. :p We got lucky and didn't get as much as they said we would. I'm sure we will pay later. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On the agenda for the day- Get off of here , tear into the housework and laundry. I need to quit stalling and get at some of this stuff. :( Who wants to help? Anybody? Hello? Thought so. Sounds like a cave in here. Warning. Will return later. |
Sandy i am sorry to hear about your cousin:hug:

Wiz, great minds think alike, lol. This weekend is cookie time for me too. Ran through the ingredients again and only forgot a couple of things the last time I went to the store. That's pretty good for me, lol. Weave, we all need some elves. I'd help ya out, but I'm tackling my own holiday cleaning. :o Sarah,:hug: Kelly and B2Y, yep the phone always seems to ring once you lay down for a nap. Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: ~~~~~~~~~ Got a meeting this afternoon, so sipping coffee and figuring out what I can do before hand. We didn't really get any snow, but the roads are icy this morning. Hoping they get better by the time I have to go out. Our school district seldom has delays or close, so when they do - you know it's gonna be fun out there. Most of our Christmas cards will probably arrive after the holiday. Been a bit of a delay getting them out. :o Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug: |
One year I didn't get half my presents delivered until after Christmas. I told everybody I'd decided to give Epiphany gifts that year instead. They saw right through it, of course, but it was still fun.
|
Since all the really good sales are after Christmas we might just start celebrating the real meaning of Christmas ON Christmas and the commercialized version of it AFTER Christmas.

Good Morning! I made it to school. Roads are a sheet of ice, but the sidewalks and even the grass are worse. I saw several students fall while driving to class. One told me she has fallen three times since yesterday. I was so scared walking from my car to the building. I just called the physical plant, and told them nicely that I wanted a trail of sand from the sidewalk to my car when I leave. They do not use salt here -- just sand which does not really work well at all. If I fall, I am not sure that I could even get up.
I am grading finals right now, and do not plan on leaving the building until this afternoon. Hello, Jimmy John's! |

Also, the girls are in the process of making each other gifts. They have really come up with some cool things just using what "craft" things we have here. It'll be fun. Barb - I'm so glad you made it to school. Be careful! I hope you get everything graded and done soon so you can just relax and enjoy your time off. For all of you in the snow/ice, I have so much admiration for you as I can't imagine how I would manage walking on ice. |

except my problem is rain, after it falls on clay soil, mixed with bird splats. it's slipperier than an ice-skating rink before it dries up. I *slid* a couple times, teetering precariously, arms loaded up with bags and pails of lettuce and cabbage and corn. I was scared of getting injured, and also dreading having to wash muddy clothes.... what I need is a BIG ol' dumptruck load of sand (15 cubic yards), and the energy to rake it into place. glad you made it into the building safely Barb, and I sure HOPE they put sand down for you by the time you get off today! |

My dad used to be a mountain climber, and he can almost run on ice. Amazes me, but learned a little bit on how to do it from watching him. Barb, be careful today. |
just a light dusting of snow what was bad was driving when it hit during rush hour times. I will say one thing the village is really cleaning up, like in prep for more snow, kind of wonder what they know we dont
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l.../snow12172.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l.../snow12171.jpg |
I carry a large ziplock bag of rock salt or snow melt in my car, right on the floor on the passenger side where I can reach it. The scariest part for me is getting out of the car, or back in, if it's icy. You're off balance, putting all your weight on one foot when you twist around to transfer.
If I see ice, I sprinkle salt right next to the car before I even step out. And if it's icy between the car and wherever, I sprinkle a little bit, take a step, make sure I'm firmly planted, sprinkle a little more, and so on. I don't look any sillier than I'd look sitting on my dignity in the parking lot, waiting for the ambulance to get there. |
Blessings, good idea. I have some salt in my garage. I will put it in my car.
|
B2Y - I agree with Barb. That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing that.
|
Morning! Today is Chris's b-day, the big 22. He's having a friend come over and then they are heading up to Dekalb for the night. We're just chilling today. I need to start making my treats for neighbors and clean up the kitchen. I need to also fax those proposals over before that so they can get rolling on what they may give us for the project.
Have a good day everyone and please watch for that ice. I need some salt too and plan to send Nik out later to get me some, along with my meds of course. lol I love having them home so they can run errands for us. |
BTY wonderful Idea, thank you
|
B2Y, agree with the others. That idea about carrying some salt with you is a great one!
