My, my all of you are so busy!! Glad to see some of you are getting xmas gifts bought/wrapped before more ugly weather hits.
My son and DIL got in from Aruba last night; we picked them up around midnight. They had a wonderful time...my son figured he'd like the job of checking wrist bands at the lazy river...my DIL was ready to return to her life. My son checked to see if she was sick lol...he doesn't get it...
they took us to breakfast this morning...she's a ray of sunshine...and he's so much happier now that they're married...so nice to see...
we did some shopping afterwards, then I got dropped off to do some stuff around the house, and say hi to all of you!!
dirty santa, huh Sandy? What, no bathtubs at the North Pole? lol...please share info...;)
Sarah, I think you need to take a sick day once in a while to rest up...you're doing too much...take care...:hug:
Frank, I need to check the weather report...last I saw, we weren't supposed to get hit with too much...but you're further north in Ill. than me...

Well, everyone, have a great Sunday!! Be sure and take some time to enjoy a moment or two!

Hopefully I loaded it right, but here's a pic of me by my paintings at the show.

The one was an almost sold. Buyer decided at last minute not to get it. Still cool that someone even considered it. :)

Best part was meeting a lot of other nice people. Seems to be a pretty good bunch at that gallery.

:grouphug::grouphug: everyone.

weegot5kiz 12-14-2008 05:45 PM

one step at a time girl, you got the foot in the door and its open, congrats Fin, you are doing great:hug:

Kitty 12-14-2008 06:18 PM

Congratulations, Fin! I'm so impressed by your talent and your commitment to get out there and show your work. :)

weegot5kiz 12-14-2008 06:26 PM

talk about a weather shock from Aruba to here and its going down to 6 or so :yikes: bring extra jackets, anyone know when its suppose to drop?

CayoKay 12-14-2008 07:28 PM

more boring farm-y stuff to report, 4 out-of-season ducklings hatched, had to do a "rescue operation" and put them in the Duckness Protection Program because their silly young mama took them to the pond too soon, and they got all soaked...

it's just too dank and gloomy during the rainforest winter, and patitos don't have their oil glands or feathers yet, so they get chilled and sickly...

a neighbor farmer dropped by with a pickup truck bed full of unsold lettuce, and made my flocks the HAPPIEST birds in Belize.

I got a four-hour nappy today, and that was wonderful, I sure needed it!

Sarah, I wish I could airmail a nice rest to you, it sounds like you need it too, honey!

Deb, glad to hear you sounding more chipper... I'm jealous, and would love a nice visit with my kids, ahhhhhh, so far away...

:grouphug:

barb02 12-14-2008 08:22 PM

I did not win anything at bingo, but had fun. Then I went out to dinner with friends for an early XMAS/birthday celebration. It is still in the forties here and a light mist.

FinLady 12-14-2008 08:51 PM

Barb, glad you had fun.

Kay, Aww. Sorry to hear about the ducklings getting cold. That's an interesting fact I didn't know about them. Glad you have a place to keep them dry and warm.

~~~~
Thanks guys. :)
Got a call from the parents saying they got home ok. Still can't believe they showed up since they'll be back the 22nd with the rest of the NY crew.
Just been taking it easy today, with a few naps sprinkled in. Hubby's putting a cat door on our basement's door so we can keep it closed and the kitties can still get at their stuff. Crossing fingers it works out.
Have a great night all. :grouphug:
SandyC 12-14-2008 09:39 PM
Honey, I'm home! Note this, never go to Walmart on Sunday sales paper day. It was very hard to keep a smile on with so many people around. I did lose it twice, once when no one, and I mean no one would let me out of electronics. I finally yelled "I am going to barrel through these people just like they are doing to me!" and let's just say Nascar has nothing on me and my cart. Jim tagged behind laughing like he didn't know me. Second, the cashier I had seemed to get nipped because I asked her to use the "green" bags I brought in. She looked like she was scanning them and I told her I already paid for them and she got snippy and said "I knooooooowwwww." I just said no need to get mad at me, wow and she said she wasn't mad. lol We made up like good little girls toward the end. haha
OK, dirty Santa is not what your thinking. It's our grab bag. You draw numbers and the goal is to get the highest number. The higher the number the better chance of getting what you want. If you see something someone opened that you like you can choose to take it from them and make them choose another grab bag. It's pretty fun and goes over well at our party.
Ok, now to relax.
Debbie D 12-14-2008 10:16 PM
Sandy,
You ruined some nice fantasies...thanks a load!!:mad:;)
Fin, what I could see of your paintings were quite impressive...keep on working your dream...let the spirit work through you...you're doing great...the planet needs souls like you!!
Kay, what a blessing that lettuce must have seemed!! How wonderful...:)
Well, I feel much better thanks to something Wiz posted...answered my prayer this morning...
I'm nervous about the rough weather coming this way tonight...mainly for the kids' sake...hope that all in the Midwest get around safe tomorrow...
sleep tight!
sabimax 12-14-2008 10:40 PM
Yeah Sandy..thanks....had some good thoughts there going in our minds....wow...
Debbie, hey there....I just had a sick day friday..hehehe and went to drs and got antibiotics...then went to work sat..and boom lots of hours...
but I cant take a sick day just to rest too occasionally ..as I dont get paid sick days!! :(
anyhow...home and about to get to bed..work tomorrow 7-3...and then off three days....(well I might go in Tuesday nt while hubby working..just for hour or so..there is so much I want to do...the fun things...like organize stuff..and some things for crew for Christmas....)
ok Maddie wants to type...hugsss,sarah
Momma's Kids 12-14-2008 11:54 PM
Hope all of you had a great day today...my grandson stayed with me last night and most of today. After he left I organized my postcard stock, scissors, etc which took me almost all day. I just finished, and had a small glass of peach wine from Stonehause.
I also organized a few other craft areas, after I built the cabinet to store them. lol
Now close your eyes in sweet slumber,
Counting sheep, don't forget the number.
As your sheep fade into the sweet of night,
You sigh deeply to think of the coming of the morning light.
:
Wow, I didn't get the memo, but we DID have pot roast today! DH threw it in the crockpot this morning.
I've been doing some reading to get brought up to speed on everyone's happenings. Sorry for you sick'uns. Get better!!! Christmas is NOT a good time to be sick! ;)
DH and I spent all day yesterday painting the kitchen/dining room. It's kind of a butternut squash color -- very different from what we're used to, but it turned out quite nice I think. If anyone would like to see the color, just let me know and I'll send you a lock of my hair!!! :eek:
I'm supposta be working on our annual Christmas letter. Got the info, just don't have the inspiration, lol.
Be well, everyone. Merry Christmas! :grouphug:
Kitty 12-15-2008 06:01 AM
Good Morning! We're in for a week of unseasonably warm weather and rain here in Georgia. I can't complain.....at least my gas bill will get a break! All those in the Northwest and Northeast and points in between are in my prayers....I know the weather where you are isn't pleasant.
I'm on my second cup of coffee this morning but still feel like I could go back to bed.
I put some candy canes on the Christmas tree last night....I'm trying to use unbreakable ornaments since I seem to drop anything that can shatter into a million pieces...:o Tigger decided to climb the tree last night. We were watching AFV and I noticed the tree was shaking....looked over and Tigger's little head popped out of the upper portion of the tree! It was so cute....went to get the camera but the batteries were dead. :mad: Never fails......
I cant seem to get into the Christmas "mood" this year. I'm in more of the "let's just get through this" mood. I hate it...I used to be the biggest Christmas fan out there. Now, it's just another holiday to endure. Don't get me wrong....I love the real meaning of Christmas....but the commercialism of it all just seems overwhelming at times to me.
My plans today include taking a big box of cat food to the animal shelter. I have lots of individual packets of wet cat food (the flavors my cats won't eat) and they are in need of cat food right now. I've been saving them for months now and have a big box filled up.
I hope everyone has a good day.....all ya'll up North stay safe and warm. Hopefully the weather will give you all a break soon. :grouphug:
I had a great idea that I was gonna get dressed and go outside to get a better picture. Fortunately, I came to my senses and leaned out the window, still in my jammies and slippers. Whew, that was a close call.
Kitty 12-15-2008 07:47 AM
I was watching GMA this morning and they showed a clip of the reporter throwing his shoes at "W" during a press conference (this is in the Middle East). He had pretty good aim, too. They just barely missed his head.
Where was the Secret Service and why'd it take them so long to react?
tkrik 12-15-2008 08:23 AM
Good morning everyone! Sorry, I lurked yesterday. It was a busy day around here and didn't have much time to post.
You all are so busy!!! That's great. Well, in my opinion. I would rather be busy than have nothing to do. ;)
Fin - Thanks for posting the picture. Look how good your painting looks hanging on a gallery wall. I think it is is awesome!!! It's ok if it didn't sell. The great thing is, is that your on your way to obtaining your dream. How wonderful is that! I am so proud of you.:hug:
Momma - Thanks for the poem. I liked that.
B2Y - Your photos are stunning! Thanks for posting them. They bring back some great memories of my childhood, growing up back east.
Kelly - Tux is doing the same thing.:eek: We have a fake tree though and it isn't that heavy. I was sitting here yesterday working on some projects and the tree started wobbling.:eek: Oh, that kitty! Some things fell off and our start on the top of the tree was crooked! (DDs wanted the star this year, not the angel). I am waiting for the night when I am asleep and hear a big crash.:eek: :D
Sandy - It isn't fun to go Christmas shopping when people can be so crabby and rude. It changes our moods and takes the fun out of it. Last year, I shopped at local stores that weren't that busy and any big stores, like Target, I shopped during the day, during the week. It was much easier on me.
Renee - How are you? I hope you are doing better. Saying a little prayer for you.:hug:
Sarah - Oh my goodness, you busy girl! Hopefully on your days off you will be able to get some rest/sleep. Hi Maddie!
Barb - I hope that the weather is great and clear on Thursday for your trip to Ohio. Saying a prayer for you too!
Vonn - Where are you? Hoping you are doing well.
Hey Working Girl (Weave), do you still have that smile? LOL I think it is great that you got that job. Every time I think about it and your excitement I get a smile on my face.;)
Twink - That color sounds pretty. Of course I love butternut squash - yum! So the color of it on a wall sounds great to me. That color is very common around here. You can walk through any model home and see it on at least one wall. Good job on getting everything painted yesterday (that goes for you too, Mr. Twink).
Frank & Deb, Kay, Sox,, and Anyone else I know I missed [insert Frank's generic here] - Thinking of you and hoping you are doing well.
Have a great day everyone!
Yup. Still grinning like a darn fool. :D I'm so happy and excited I'm scaring myself just a bit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well today's agenda includes continuing to prepare for my first day at work tomorrow. :D I think I have settled on my outfit, have my totebag waiting for all my goodies, started a list of questions, need to find a lunch box and decide what I'm going to put in it, also need to find out where employees park. I'm sure they don't want my taking one of the few spaces in front of the building they share with someone else. Housework never ends. I have a few errands I want to try to get done before the cold afternoon rain arrives. Blech! Cold. Rain. Errands. Just blech!

Well sitting here is getting nothing done fast so I better get moving. Healing vibes to those not feeling good. Cheery thoughts to those in a humbug mood. More hours in the day for those who need them too.

Have a good one.

Debbie D 12-15-2008 09:19 AM

Good morning...wow, we were around 50 degrees yesterday, and when I got up this morning it was 8. Icy on the roads, too. And I heard on the news that we're supposed to get up to 9 inches of snow tomorrow. And it's not officially winter yet...:(
I just don't know why I feel so yucky...just not right, you know? I have to list some of what's going on for my neuro appt. tomorrow morning.
Well, hope everyone has a good day...:)

soxmom 12-15-2008 09:32 AM

My Update: very busy weekend, put up the tree with the little ones, made
lots and lots of pierogi, sports etc etc.

This morning the little ones were eating breakfast in front of the tree and
crash!!!!! It didnt hit them, thank goodness! but broke lots of keepsake
ornaments. ones with pics of all my children as babies, all of my victorian
skaters(I have collected skates or skater orn for about 28 years!) the legs
skates or mittens are broken.:(:(:(

I just got the tree standing up, picked up the glass and picked up the water.
Im going to try to hot glue some of the ones that I think that can be
repaired. Im very sad and now I have to redo the tree. arghhhh!! lots
of work when you are doing it with the small kids. I gotta take a breath
and go back to work!!!!

peace

FinLady 12-15-2008 10:27 AM

Frank, Sorry to hear about Ally. Thanks for the update. :hug:

Trish and Kelly, I generally have to put the tree up with just lights at first. My tiger kitty feels like she HAS to inspect anything she considers new - LOL. After a couple of days, I add the ornaments. It usually turns out ok, after we have a crash with no breakables, she leaves it alone. :D

Sox, glad no one was hurt when the tree fell. Sorry to hear that some of the keepsakes got damaged. :(

Debbie D, Hope the neuro appointment tomorrow goes well. :hug:

Weave, Hope your first day is awesome. :)

Sandy, Thanks for the clarification on the dirty santa bit. Yep, I have a gutter mind, LOL :D That is a neat idea for the grab bags tho.

Renee, hope you're feeling better. :hug:

B2Y, love the pic! Thanks for sharing. It's beautiful.

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

barb02 12-15-2008 11:14 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

It is a tad bit chilly here today, but not as cold as up north -- 17 degrees. We did get some freezing precip so the roads are slick in spots, and I have been told that the side walks are really icy. So I plan on staying inside today, cleaning, and fixing dinner for a few friends that are coming over. I am not sure how much snow we are supposed to get tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a decent day.

Kelly, try watching some of those sappy christmas movies on Hallmark or ABC Family. I tend to watch them year after year.

Jenn, Thanks for sharing the picture. Having your paintings in a gallery show is so cool. Now I think I will recognize you. I will be the short, chubby one with auburn hair.

Sandy, WalMart is an evil place! I think it has some type of spell where everyone that enters the place ends up grouchy. At least, that has been my experience:rolleyes:

weegot5kiz 12-15-2008 11:26 AM

17 thats summer lol its gonna be such a long winter

i went to wally world two days in a row at 7 am it was a ghost town it was so peaceful no rude MS'ers (dang lisp) running me over blocking the isle and just being rude. it was nice was in and out both days in a matter of minutes

ok good or bad news? ten more days till some pervert in a red suit climbs down your chimney and leaves stuff laying around

good news 6 more days and the days start getting longer WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O

SandyC 12-15-2008 11:43 AM

Morning from the frigid Midwest. It's a clear, extremely windy 6 degrees here with a windchill that feels like -15 degrees! Deb, I didn't hear about that snow but thanks for the heads up. I think I need to convince Chris to get his butt home from NIU and celebrate his b-day on the weekend. He wanted to come home today and go back tomorrow. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. lol

Other than the cold, I forgot to turn off the water to the outside hoses. So, question to all of you. Do I go ahead and turn it off from inside before they freeze or keep them on so the inside heat keeps them watery and not frozen? I can't believe I forgot this year. :rolleyes:

Please stay warm and fuzzy today and if your in our area stay inside and do not, repeat, do not go out. :hug:

My plans for today are to sweep floors and watch my contractor put a new gasket and flange on my basement toilet. Whoopieee!

Jim's legs are like vice grips thanks to the cold air. Let's see if I can pry them apart with a massage later.

FinLady 12-15-2008 12:37 PM

Hi all. Taking a break from cleaning. We had to get a new vaccuum this past weekend because the old one stopped working. I love the new one. :circlelove: LOL, I used to get this excited about jewelry. :D

It wasn't a $$$ one either, and it seems to be well made. Now almost all our floor stuff is made by Bissell. :rolleyes:

Anyhoo, temps are dropping. Winter weather advisory and watches are up. Really glad I don't have to go out today.

Stay warm everyone. :grouphug:

JustWeave 12-15-2008 12:45 PM

Whew! It is time for me to stay far far away from shops and malls. :eek: The frazzled holiday shoppers are out in force, knickers firmly in a twist.:eek: :mad: I'll drive to the grocery store (gotta eat :D) and work :D and that is it. Sheesh! :mad: Merry my rear. :rolleyes:

Okay. Found a lunch bag, got lunch meat thawing for tomorrow, did my errands (cog fog means I'll be yarn shopping again later), found out where I'm to park for work and just how little my paycheck will be. My boss was super apologetic as she thought that was talked about during my first interview.

Housework keeps staring me in the face. Guess I better tackle some of that after lunch. :rolleyes:

As you were.

CayoKay 12-15-2008 12:48 PM

I'm warm...

:p

weegot5kiz 12-15-2008 12:49 PM

doesnt that sound cool weave saying you are driving to work, congrats again, I am so happy for you and glad you were rewarded with a job when facing so many issues, you did real well, dont mean this like a parent thingy but I am proud of you, dont lose the grin:hug:

Kay thats not nice lol

Debbie D 12-15-2008 01:00 PM

Kay,
Hey, that hurt...you be nice to us up in the frozen tundra, hear?;)

Weave, tomorrow, give yourself plenty of time to get ready, and get to work. Take deep breaths, and give yourself time to get used to the new routine. We're so happy for you!:D

Yay, I finished the long, boring terminology challenge for the next lesson...had to look up 123 terms in various books, or online if I couldn't find it. It takes so much time...now I can dig into the fund stuff!:)

weegot5kiz 12-15-2008 01:01 PM

its probably warmer in alaska it usually is when we get the cold

weegot5kiz 12-15-2008 01:09 PM

ok its minus - 8 in Fairbanks brrr

its + 13 in Anchorage the Dakota's are getting hit hard with this cold

its 8 on our temp thingy, i was out with my flannel jacket on and shorts and no socks and gym shoes having a smoke and salting the walk way it iced real bad and the driveway area, i guess its cold or i am just not right, I worked for years in freezers stocking so it doesn't bother me as much and I am still not sure, about the numbness, It isn't happening this year, but is that cause I am so numb I cant tell if it is or not? I got to remember to toss that at nero the neuro

soxmom 12-15-2008 01:13 PM

Im having one of those days.:( first the tree....Im feeling very sore from
a super busy weekends. I put the empty water(5 gal) out to be picked
up for delivery....I looked out and they were gone but there were no
new bottles.:confused:

What I didnt know was the wind had really picked up and my 9 bottles
were all over the neighborhood. One had been blown through the field
that is across the street from me and was lying in the woods. This
is a huge haying field.lol. anyways I finally got them all ugh...my legs
are a killin me*sigh*.

The good news is....its 58 degrees out!!!:D

Momma's Kids 12-15-2008 01:17 PM

I must be the only person that likes cold and snow...

I know anyone want to swap houses during the winter? :p
It gets in the middle 20s here on the avg winter. I lived in Florida for 15 years and never acclimated to the weather. I would have to come home as much as I could when it was supposed to be 'winter'. lol

Every body have a great day...I'm having trouble with my left eye again...last time it was the onset of a relapse. Hoping it is just the beginning of a migraine this time. :eek: I took some vicodin to see if it helps relieve the pain...sure hope so...

weegot5kiz 12-15-2008 02:13 PM

Soxie i am sorry I keep forgetting to post about your tree i am sorry about the loss. The adopted kittens killed a tree here, with ornaments older than myself, I am sorry:hug:

sorry, guys...

:o

it's just that... well... when I think of shoveling snow, scraping ice, donning heavy clothes, stacking cords of firewood for the woodburning stove, and driving on roads that resemble ice-skating rinks, it sorta makes UP for the tarantulas, hurricanes, boa constrictors, floods, army ants, and near-total lack of decent shopping, opera, ballet, theatre, skiing, and all those kinds of things that I miss.

I get positively GREEN with envy when people start discussing going to movies, concerts, and suchlike...

so forgive me if I indulge in a TAD's worth of neener-neener occasionally, okay??

:hug:
