It's finally stopped raining here in GA but the high today is supposed to be 70 degrees! It's dang December!! But we're supposed to be back to normal by Monday and the low's back to the 30's. It does this every year.....we should be used to it by now.
Everybody be careful up there in IL....sounds like ya'll are in for a doozy of a winter storm. I hope you've got plenty of food and necessities stored away. Just the mere mention of snow here sends people scurrying to the stores and they stock up like they're gonna be home bound for months! |
I'm back from the proceedure...doing fine...the biopsies are a little sore but I'm fine.

Haha Wiz! That is so true! Jim and I survived the Blizzard of 79 and the Valentines Day blizzard in 1990! I'll never forget them for sure! I remember opening my back door and it was all snow. I had to dig through it. We lived on the second floor and the snow was drifted all the way up. The 1990 snow, wow is all I can say. I gained huge respect for Jim driving a Ford Escort on I88 for hours on hours. It took us well over five hours to get from West Chicago to unincorporated Hinsdale. No one had lanes, it was a free for all!
|
just got back from Wal-Mart with my TP so I don't run out ... now I'm good for about 2-3 weeks of being snowed in ...

Vonn...good thing you don't have an outhouse! lol How did people survive all those years ago without central heat, indoor toliets.
My grandparents had an outhouse when I was small...to this day I remember going out there and it was freezing!!! |
So, I'm confused about where the snow/ice line is here in Illinois...the grocery store was jammed this morning...sometimes I wonder if the weather people are in cahoots with the stores, so that we all panic and go shopping for supplies....
I had an endodontist appt tomorrow, but rescheduled it...there's no way I have enough in me to deal with traffic during a snow storm. I am so dang tired...and during a therapy appt today, where I get some eeg work, my right leg kept spasing...the calf and then the quad...kind of hard to keep relaxed when your leg demands attention...:( I have so much to do, but no energy to do it...caffeine isn't even helping me. I just want to sleep... Barb, please be careful...take some sand or salt, as well as some carpet to put under tires in case you get stuck. And take a blanket to keep warm. I need to go out and bring some firewood up to the house in case we get more ice than snow, which means that the electricity would go out. But I just don't have any energy right now...maybe DH or DS can do it this evening. Sandy, Wiz, Frank/Deb, be careful with this storm coming...:holysheep: |
Thanks everyone!
We are suppose to miss the snow down here, but we are under a freezing rain advisory. Don't worry; I plan on checking the road conditions in the morning and if it is nasty I will delay leaving. I already have a down comforter in the car, and plan on taking some snacks and drinks. It actually is not supposed to be to cold tomorrow. Highs in the upper 30s. My sister and family are supposed to fly into Chicago on Saturday and stay with BIL's family in Naperville through the 25th and then fly to be with us in Ohio. I just called and told them that the National Weather Service is forecasting 7 to 11 inches of sleet/snow tonight and another 1 to 3 on Friday. My niece says she wants to play in the snow. She is three and has not seen snow except for on tv. It looks like she might get her wish. Of course she says she is freezing when it is 60 degrees;). I am not sure which is worse -- flying or driving at this time of the year! Everyone up north stay warm! |
Just stay safe no matter where you are and wish the same for your family.
|
Deb, anything north of I80 is getting snow and south of I80 is rain, sleet and ice. BLECH!
Oh man, I just got cologne in the mail for the boys. I have no idea what they like so I bought based on reviews. How do I choose which kid is woodsy and which is sea salt crisp? lmao I bought Ocean Pacific By Ocean Pacific, Cool Water Sea Scents And Sun By Davidoff, Cool Water By Davidoff and Curve Wave By Liz Claiborne. |
Those all sound good Sandy. If necessary, they can trade. :)
Remember "the storm of the century, in, I think, March of 1992? We were on our way through Dalton GA on our way to Disney World when the storm got bad so we stayed in a hotel, and ended up being stuck there for two days! There was over 2 feet of snow! They have extra wimpy snow plows in Georgia, believe me! We had to shovel our way out with our hotel room wastebasket. You should have seen the cars, trucks and snow plows in the ditches. |
Barb, just be a careful. They can't make up their minds on what it's gonna do here.
Momma, glad the procedure went ok. Hope the results come back alright. Debbie D, stay careful and warm too. ~~~~~~ Well, the tree with lights only is up. Left it to the cats to sniff out the new thing, which is why I'm waiting to put any ornaments on it. ;) My poor car had to go to the shop - again! Not a tire, but something else making a noise that made me think a tire went down. Hopefully they'll call us back tomorrow with it's diagnosis. My best guess is a bearing. Stay warm and careful everyone. :grouphug::grouphug: |
our grocery store was jammed packed too I got some basics and made some chocolate chippers em sooo gooooooood warm soft fresh from the oven, where they melt in your mouth oh my

Finlady...I got pictures and nothing new, ulcer, hiatus hernia, duodenum with villi..esophagus erosion...I can't even remember how to spell anymore.lol He told me to stop the Baclofen...guess he missed the MS diagnosis part where I need it for muscle spasms. I haven't been taking it for a couple of months because of the acid...yeah, I'm gonna listen to him.lol I would fix a mixed one...but then it would burn burn burn that rope of fire...alcohol is like a burning fire...as it goes down it burns burns burns....and people wonder why I don't drink.lol |

Ok, so we have a ton of ice so far and we are in between the I88 and I80 corridor. We wont know until it's over how much snow and/or ice we're going to get. Those in the area batten down the hatches. I am so worried about Chris. He went to Quad City IL with his friend and they had no idea about the storm. Somehow Chris said he looked at the weather channel and it said about 2-4 inches. I told him that is not right. Quad City is now under a severe winter storm warning too. I am watching the web cams.
Oh and they got his car down and it's sitting at the mechanic waiting for Chris. I was kind of embarrassed because I fought them to get it done and now he isn't picking it up. But hey, I saved $150 on his car repair! :D I met the mechanic in the middle for labor. My mechanic ate the cost for the rest and I told him under no circumstances are we ever to have our cars sent to that man in Arlington Heights again. So, when it was all said and done Chris's car cost him $450. That's better than the $600 they originally wanted. I felt sorry for my regular mechanic when he asked me if $50 dollars was a good price for labor. I told him nope, not good, your now getting screwed. My heart wouldn't let me only pay him $50 labor on top of the cost of the part Chris needed. The part cost $322. I told him I expected to pay $400-450 and told him to think about it and get back to me. He asked was $450 Ok and I said yes. He's a good man and is eating the rest. How could I say no? That jerk in Arlington Heights put that part on this afternoon and had Chris's car back in no time flat. He was trying to inflate the labor the turd. Anyway, please stay safe everyone in the storm's path. I am on pins and needles thinking about Chris and his friend driving home tomorrow. |
Sandy, let us know how Chris is doing. And as for who to give which fragrance to, hmmm, just imagine how the fragrance would smell on each of them. Or just wrap them up and let them choose which box they want...
Not much snow here at all...those weather people should be put out in the wood shed...all that equipment and they still can't get it right...although I heard on TV a few minutes ago that the highways are a sheet of ice...but the snow didn't show up, at least around Naperville... my legs are bothering me so much I couldn't stay in bed...don't know what to do. They are so tight, the front of my calves feel like someone is trying to rip the muscles off of them. I am so uncomfortable, even though I increased the baclofen at night. Momma, you said baclofen gives you stomach problems...how much do you take? And take care of yourself...rest up and heal up... Well, hope everyone has a good mornning...those of you out east in the line of fire for this storm, be careful... |
Good Morning!
Sandy, keep us posted on Chris' travels. I'm saying a prayer for his safety. :smileypray: Nothing much planned for today. I went to the grocery yesterday so I don't have that chore to do today. I fixed talapia on my George Foreman grill last night and it was so good. I also grilled some asparagus on there, too. Brushed it with a little olive oil...yummy! I doubt anyone will be here for supper tonight so I can have the leftovers! Is it really just six days until Christmas? I just cannot get into the holiday mood this year. Just waiting for it to all be over with. :( I hate feeling like this. Everyone have a good day...stay safe and warm. We're in for it next week....Sunday's predicted high is 45 and Monday's low is 19. I'm not complaining, though. It's winter! 70 degrees belongs in April! |
I'm waiting for my two adult children to let me know what the plan is for Christmas. I don't know if we're having the meal and tree on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, New Year's or next month.
I wish the two of them would actually communicate with EACH OTHER, but that would be a Christmas miracle. It doesn't matter to us, it can be whatever day and time works for them, it would just be nice to know a few days ahead so I know when to make the biscuits. :) |
Kitty, I'm with you...I wish I could feel more in the mood...it saddens me...especially since all will be here for Christmas...except my DIL, because of the pending divorce:(:(
|
I'm up, barely. LOL I think I was on the verge of being a fish out of water last night. I feel it in my body and I see it on my bed. (I sleep on 1 side of the bed and on a normal night the other side remains made unless I have a rough night.) UGH!
Too much to remember to respond to everyone but I have read your posts and laughed, prayed, and hugged with each of you and thought of each of you. However, my limited visual memory this morning actually remembers a visual! That's new. Vonn, you look so cozy in your house. LOL Sandy, that is great. Good job on the photoshopping. I have so much to learn. All of you in the bad weather, stay warm and stay safe. |
Mornin' folks. Sheesh. I just can not stop yawning. Durn it I got lots to do today and a nap is nowhere on the list.
Day two at work went well I think. Got shown some more new things and was kept busy all day. Not busy to the point of feeling swamped but busy enough that I never got to work on organizing shelves. In my free time I am to pick a starting place and work my way through the library making sure every item is in the correct order on the shelves. It is easy but very time consuming and boring. I will muddle through it though because I am a good employee, it will help to reorganize the library, and it is a teaching tool. I picked a good place to start on Tuesday because I found an item that was missing since October. Boss was stunned. Shelving returns also helps teach me where things are and shows me just what the library has to offer. That is much more fun. Today's agenda awaits. sigh. Grocery fetching, dishes, laundry, holiday stuff, homeschool supervising, waking the heck up... |
I am planning on leaving in about an hour. It is a little foggy here right now, and the temperature is 40. Local schools are still closed because if ice on country roads. The interstates are supposed to be clear (interstate 70) so I just have to get there. We had freezing rain/drizzle until aorund 2:00 or so and then heavy rain. but I did not hear any thunder.
Wish me luck and Merry Christmas everyone. (Jenn, I will call you when I stop for lunch and let you know how it is going. I will just leave a message if you are not around.) |
Barb - Have a good trip. I am glad to hear the weather warmed up and you will be able to leave as planned. Saying some prayers for a safe trip for you. Can Jenn post that you made it that far for you so we know the trip is going well?
Weave - That's awesome!!! You will do great at your new job.:hug: |
