Happy New Year Deborah

In case any of you thunk I would leave my Debbie out of the well wishes, I have not.

Deborah my love, Deborah my darling wife,
I can not express the happiness you bring to my life.
You and I met by pure chance
With us, its always been a slow dance.
You always accepted me for who I was
Without running away just because
Because I have MS and I shall need you
You said dont worry honey, dont be blue
You have done all you can to help me out
You didnt run, you didnt shout
Deborah you have helped me out every day
For my love can not think of all to say
Thank you for believing in me when I was unsure
I pray before this dance is over, there comes a cure
So we could smile dance and shed tears
Being allowed to love for another hundred years
I love you Deborah my darling wife
Happy new year and to us a good life:hug:

Morning everyone. Frank, that was so nice, thank you. Right backatcha!

I feel so much better today. The tummy is healing finally and has reduced to rumbling now. Whew, that was a tough one. Thank you for all the well wishes. They really made me smile when I'd come on to lurk.

Everyone have a wonderful New Year eve and stay safe. The boys will be out and you know I will worry but they are adults so I am letting go slowly. Jim and I will order out and lay in bed watching tv.

Sandy, I know the feeling. Both of my boys will be out tonight. But....I told them they'd better make plans to stay over where they are....no driving tonight. I don't trust all the other drivers out there. Plus, I'm not stupid....I know they will have a drink or three.

I made my Frozen Cranberry Margaritas and they are in the freezer out in the garage. I taste-tested and it's very good! Matt saw it and was full of questions.....why'd you make that? who's coming over? are you drinking now? how much Tequila did you put in there? you're not going anywhere tonight are you?   geeze, wonder where he got THAT from.......?

Curious 12-31-2008 01:00 PM

We never go out on New Year's eve. Don't drink either. We will toast with some hot choccy. :D

All the drunks on the road scare me too much.

Hubby is a New Year baby, so tomorrow I'll make him a cake.

I do kinda miss my old single days. :o The local DFW band scene. Good music, lots of fun. Even X's band isn't playing this year. I feel so old. Nah...must be him huh? :p

Blessings2You 12-31-2008 01:09 PM

When my granddaughter was in high school (she's a college freshman) her group of friends had their parties (booze free, of course) at the home of one of the guys in their group. If the party was going to last (like New Year's), it was a MANDATORY stay-over. They had a girls' "dorm" and one for the boys, well-chaperoned. The mom was not about to send teenage drivers headed home late at night with all the drunken bozos on the roads. How I admire her for that!

Curious 12-31-2008 01:29 PM

That is really cool B2Y.

For a few years we ran a kids night out at our old gym. We had basketball, racquetball and an indoor pool. We used a racquetball court as a disco room. :D A fun safe place for kids every Saturday night.

One year we had New Years Eve party for the kids. We all had a blast.

One thing we didn't think about was drunk parents picking them up. :(
We spent hours driving kids home.

soxmom 12-31-2008 01:49 PM

when my older boys were young I used to have kids new years sleepover
parties.......we would do crafts , make lots of appetizers(kids love those),
and toast all night with sparkling cider. I swear I would get buzzed off]
of the bubbles but I guess that cant be:o:confused:

Now my health is not as good and I am as old as dirt.:( My younger ones
would love to do this as they have heard about it from their older bros.
I have now promised that I will do my best to do this next year.:)

My bff since high school and her daughter are coming over and we will
be making homemade pizzas(the kids can make their own.) they love
making the dough and "playing" with it.:) they will probably sleep over.
so that will be fun for the little ones. My older ones will do first night
downtown. they drop a ball and its all crazy. I worry about them on
the streets but they really enjoy this(and they are 19 and 17 so.....:o)

I hope everyone has the kind of eve that is just perfect for them!!

Debbie D 12-31-2008 02:41 PM

hi everyone...still busy...running around doing such and such...glad you're feeling a bit better, Sandy...
Hope everyone has a safe and happy celebration tonight...we're going over to some old friends' house and will probably celebrate new years drop with New York, since we can't stay awake for the chicago drop...

Hi everyone! I am back home. I got here about 3 hours ago, and I am already checking up on you all. I guess I missed all of you.:D I tried reading all of posts that I missed while gone, but there were just too many. It was making me dizzy;). I hope you all had a good/decent/ not too bad(?) Christmas, and wish all of you a very Happy New Year.

We do not start back to classes until the 12th so I have some time to recover and to work on getting my course syllabi done. I also have to make a trip to St. Louis next week to Barnes Hospital to see the MS specialist there.

Frank, I spent the whole time in my exciting hometown of East Liverpool, OH. It is a small, run down town in NE Ohio (rustbelt)-- it is on the border of PA and W VA -- about 45 miles from Youngstown, OH and about 45 miles from Pittsburgh. Pottery and steel used to be the major industries. All of my family was there except for my oldest brother -- the Bob -- who felt that the drive from Philadelphia is just too tough on him.

Now during Spring break I will be heading for Austin, TX.

For those of you in Illinois, can you believe Blago's latest decision?

JustWeave 12-31-2008 05:55 PM

Just wanted to stop in and say hello one last time this year. :D

To the party animals out there :Crazy 2: behave 'cause there will be roll call in the morning. If ya don't show up for it a search party will go out huntin' ya. Skip me though. This place is dry. Rats. :(

As for some end of the year thoughts... well... I can not express what you all mean to me. I'm sitting here trying but my thoughts of love and gratitude just refuse to be put into words. My wish for all of you in the new year is peace, love, and joy like you have never known before.

Behave out there tonight. And that's an order! :p See ya next year!:D

"Be good!"

"If you can't be good, at least say out of trouble."

"If you can't stay out of trouble, at least, DON'T GET CAUGHT!"

breakfast, with Mimosas here in the jungle.

yum!

we're soooo old, we couldn't finish one single solitary bottle of sparkling wine at midnight last night, lol!

naturally, as with all things that are unfinished, with my frugal husband, one can expect their appearance at the following day's breakfast.

at 6 am, after he was done milking the goat, I saw him out picking oranges from our trees.

You must be out of practice. My 85 year old Grandma and I polished off 1 bottle of sparkling Pinot Noir and 1/2 a bottle of Asti Spumante!! I'm not sure which one of us drank more, though. She may have gotten the better of me.:D:eek:

Good Morning! Happy New Year Everyone!

I have been up since 8:30 -- doing laundry, unpacking, putting away presents. I am going to give myself a few more days before I start putting away Christmas decorations. I was in bed by 9:30 last night. I was too tired after my drive from Ohio to stay up. Now I am checking out flights to Austin over Spring Break in March.

Jenn, I usually have sauerkraut and pork on New Year's Day also, but I am just not in the mood for it this year. I hope this doesn't mean I will have bad luck. On the other hand I know I have some leftover sauerkraut and pork in the freezer. Maybe I will go take it out.;)

Blessings2You 01-01-2009 12:25 PM

Hey, Frank, you were the first to POST, not the first one AWAKE. (Well, maybe you were awake for hours before you posted?)

We just had a nice lunch of homemade pierogi that a friend gave us, with some bacon and eggs. Mmmm. It's some kinda cold here, wind chill down around -30. It finally got above zero a few minutes ago.

I can't keep up with all the separate threads wishing each other Happy Birthday and Happy New Year. I'm either going to miss some or post/thank two or three times on the same one, so maybe I'll just lurk at them. :D

Kitty 01-01-2009 12:27 PM

Happy New Year everybody! It's windy and cold here today....only getting into the low 40's for a high and supposed to rain all weekend.

I've got nothing planned today. I want to go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby soon and get some supplies to make some Christmas ornaments with. As long as I don't have to do any detailed painting I think I can manage to make some nice ones. It's just hard to do without the use of my right hand. I'll find a way..... I figure I'll start now and have a project going all year long so that next Christmas I can use them on the tree and give them as gifts!

Both my boys are out today....one at his girlfriends house and one at a Memorial Service for his friend Meredith (the hiker that was murdered last year on 1/1/08 here in GA). I can't believe it's been a year. I'm so proud of them, though, as they have started a group called Right to Hike (see my homepage). They are raising money to buy GPS devices that hikers can take with them when they're up on the mountain. That way, if they become lost or someone tries to abduct them they can send a signal and help will be sent. If Meredith had one of these devices she might be here today. :(

sabimax 01-01-2009 12:32 PM

Well, starting new years with a bang...I had to, I started prednisone taper....
last time when I couldnt get in for two days, while not at work due to bad sxs, and finally hwen got to dr, she put me on prednisone...(which is what I had asked them over phone to ask dr) but had to wait two days.

anyhow, she gave me a script, but I also still have plenty that isnt expired from last time...she said when sxs get flared up again, that I know my body and go ahead with same dosage taper.

I woke, like last few weeks of waking so numb that it is too too bothersome, just not doing well. So I had called my younger sister, about something else, and mentioned how I feel. She said you are so tough...that she would be in a ER yelling for them to figure her out if she had my stuff. So then she mentioned, what about that prednisone do you think you should start that....ahaaaaa

Anyhow, in a little bit here I bet I will get the whirlwind of energy, then maybe I will use it to get some things done around here....maybe nap though today, at some point, but we also are going to my parents for dinner later.

Well, better really watch what I am eating, want to start eating better for health and weight loss..and then started the prednisone...ahhh

hugss all, just wanted to share where I am at physically...hugss,sarah

Morning! Jim and I stayed up will about 1-1:30am listening to the fireworks and making calls. Then lucky us got woke up around 3:15am to the dog going nuts. The next door neighbors son was still throwing his party with the bass so high it was rocking our windows. Then they thought it would be funny to go out front and hoot and holler. I flicked on my porch light and I saw some pointing but they stayed out there a little bit. After 30 minutes they went inside to yell at the top of their lungs. Needless to say we didn't wake up until almost 11am! lol

I'll start making dinner around 2pm. I am having ham, sweet potatoes, crescent rolls and fried corn. Mmmmmmmmmm good!

Have a good day everyone. I don't list names because I know I'll forget someone. Just know I am wishing you all a happy year. For the first time ever I have a good feeling about this year. I don't want to jinx myself but I didn't even get misty eyed. All in all, despite my mom's illness things were pretty good. Jim stayed out of the hospital over a year now! October was one year and that is great for him! I plan to get my car paid off this year and the beds and try to save some for a rainy day. I wish the same for all of you.

Sarah, I am so sorry. I am praying for your dad.

Tammy, that was me last night texting you! lol I saw your text asking who I was this morning.

NaeNae 01-01-2009 12:47 PM
