Actually it says a lot...I might do something that seems stupid to someone, but makes perfect sense to me...like leaving my umbrella in a buggy and the buggy collector guy sees it and leaves it. I go back and my expensive umbrella is gone. Hope the lil bitty ole lady that was parking as I backed out got it. lol I forgot it was in the buggy, it was red just like the buggy. lol It was beginning to rain and I was trying to get the bags into the truck before the storm broke...

Just checking in real quick while I'm waiting for a pain med to kick in. I guess I double pushed a little the past few days. :rolleyes:

The art show was cool. Seeing the variety of artists represented was so awesome. A lot of talented people out there. One person did something really, really cool. They photographed old houses in black and white. Then they displayed the photos in old window frames. A really unique presentation.

Met an established artist for our neck of the woods, and got some great compliments from him. :) And the Sanctuary may have already been sold. I'll find out more tomorrow when I go back to visit during the main show. Hubby and I laughed since that was not the one either of us was expecting to go first.

And my dad and stepmom showed up as a surprise. At first a little bewildering that they came, but it turned out to be a cool thing. Of course - he was the beaming, proud father and took a couple of pics. Hubby will probably take more tomorrow.

So unexpected guests may keep me away for most of tomorrow.

I got the second coat of paint on the bathroom and brown washed a black shelf to go with the new colors. The decor is lighthouses so it has to look a tad rustic. I have rugs, new cabinet handles and four signed lighthouse pics coming in the mail soon to finish the look.

Hope this finds everyone doing well. Kitty, Jim and I are buying the blue ray version of Batman. We saw the movie on Imax and that was so hard to watch. Too big!

Morning all. Pain med worked last night, lol. Slept deeply and woke up early. Even managed to get a load of dishes in the washer before the coffee was done. :D :eek:

If hubby takes pics of the show today, I'll post them as soon as I can. Just resting and relaxing right now. We'll meet my unexpected guests later on for brunch. They are probably still asleep in their hotel room, lol. Kept them up a little last night. ;)

morning all, been up a while just got back xmas shopping is done short of a quick stop to pick up some lay away items and das is all. I tried using the, "i fed you all year what else do you want," but that didnt fly

at least it wont be like one year my two boys and my mom were together xmas eve and bobby so young and eyes so aglow says, at one hour till closing time for most of the stores i cant wait for santa to bring my vacuum he promised me,

lol yeah a vacumm smack , my mom and I looked at each other she tossed me a credit card and said even if i have to bring home a real vacuum she said do it, if you could of heard him so innocent and in santa dreamland

then one year we gave them a gift on xmas eve it was a sensor motion star wars storm trooper, and as we are getting set to get them off to bed this 5 yr old brain child is strategically placing the sensor toys out to catch santa, when you triggered the sensor it shouted halt who goes there, which i found out when i went back into the kitchen:Bang-Head: bad enough being outwitted by safety caps, but by a 5 yr old too, i reiterate:Bang-Head:

Update: My monitor blew yesterday. I completely disconnected everything, then reconnected it and heard a little pop and then smelled something burning.:eek: That was the end of that. I did have a very old monitor (big, heavy CRT screen) that DD17 got out of storage for me and we hooked that up. Whoa! The difference between the LCD screen and the CRT is amazing. Plus this thing is HUGE and takes up my whole desk. Working something out to get a new to me one.

Today I am going to try to spend some quality time with DD17. Something is going on and I am hoping that she will open up a bit to me. She has been in a horrible mood for the past month or so. She mentioned the other night that her friends called her Scrooge.:eek: DD18 said, "Mom, even her friends notice she's been crabby." She has been snappy and rude which is completely unlike her. So I decided to wait until the weekend to do a little "intervention." Keep your fingers crossed that my quality time with her works for her.

DD18 is the photographer. DD17 is the dancer. It's funny as I have a few ideas of what may be going on but sometimes with teens what you think may be bothering them is not it at all. LOL

We recently had an issue come up with their dad that may be upsetting her. I know she was devastated that he didn't want them to come up at Thanksgiving. In our divorce agreement, he has them every T-day and I have them every religious holiday. It has been that way for the past 16 years. She was really hurt.

Of course, I didn't know at the time, but her dad quit his job and hasn't been working for the past month. He is heading in to his "dark place" now and I am not sure if he has been calling her and saying bizarre stuff or what. Believe it or not, he told me yesterday that maybe she could get a job to help us our financially while he is not working.:confused::eek::rolleyes:

She didn't do well on her SAT's and is afraid she won't get in to any of the colleges of her choice. I did tell her that she needs a plan B and we discussed that. It may not be what she wants but it may be necessary. She is a perfectionist in a way. She's an honor student making mostly A's, passed all state tests for graduation with exceeding the standard on 2 of the 3 parts and the 3rd one she almost exceeded. In our state if you exceed on all 3 parts you get a tuition waiver to any of the 3 state colleges.

She is not a good test taker though and got herself too worked up while preparing and taking the SAT's. She did great on all the practice ones but the real one, she didn't do as well.

She doesn't like the dance team this year and has been thinking of quitting. I am not sure of the details but we did talk about this. If she decides to quit, I support her in this decision and I let her know that. If this were her only activity it would be different. However, she has extra dance practices for her dance classes, she has Youth Group once a week, she helps teach the middle school Youth Group once a week and has planning meetings for it. Plus, keeping up with all her school work.

These are some things that I thought of and who knows if that is what is getting to her. Collectively, I could see how that can happen and I will help her through this.

She loves to tie dye so we are going to make tie dye t-shirts for my youngest brothers kids today. Having her do something that she loves and working beside her is a great way to get her to open up.

Trish, Hope you can find out what is going on with your daughter. It sounds as if she will be able to get into a college even if it is not her first choice. Is there any chance that she could retake the SAT's?

Hope everyone is having a good Friday. I need to go to the grocery store -- having a few friends over for dinner Monday night, and run a few other errands. Then I plan on wrapping more presents. I hate wrapping presents anymore. When I was in college I worked one XMAS wrapping presents in a jewelry store. I had to learn how to make bows by hand, etc. So if I ever lose my job as a professor, I have that skill to fall back on.:rolleyes:

Hi Frank! How much snow have you all gotten? It is supposed to be bad here on Monday -- freezing rain and snow. I sure hope the forecasters are wrong!

She is going to retake them as well as take the ACTs in Jan/Feb. We are waiting for the fee waiver code from the school. I think she will get in to a college as I don't think the place all the weight on SAT's.

I hate wrapping presents too, Barb. DD18 loves to wrap gifts. My brother and his old boss hire her every year to wrap presents. LOL Isn't great to know that we have skills to fall back on. LOL.

Trish, I didn't do too well on the SAT's, but on the ACT's I was only one point away from getting a free ride to college. If she needs it, let her know that some colleges look more at the ACT scores and that some people will ace the one and not the other.

Barb, today's the last day. It was only a two day type of thing. Actually longer if you count the private viewings that happened in the week leading up to the event.

OK IT IS MIDNIGHT yes...I am screaming hehe..sorry to scream...guess what I just got home....yes just a bit ago!!!!!!

I worked 7am-320pm...but then during shift..closing manager 5-11pm...called in...she fell on ice..went into walk in clinic..couldnt work tonight or tomorrow night...

so here I go, I call my assistant..but knew she did have plans with family for a holiday thing...so I checked in case it was daytime thing..but was pretty sure it was at night..so no biggie..she really has something....the other manager of mine..uggggg said no he cant..then I call one manager only one not working..from one of other stores....and two managers from main store...ALL I would leave message hey if it is yes or no..please call me back, even if no ..no biggie but need to know ....do you think any called me back..NO>>>>

so at 320 as I am finishing...no calls back...the afternoon manager cant stay past 5pm..even....so I didnt come home..by time home would have to come back....so sat around..got some dinner and sat then worked 5pm-11pm...well 1120pm////

I am so stiff and in pain..ugggggg this is waht I get for being the BOSS...uggggggg

Morning all. Only major plan today is to go back to the gallery to pick stuff up. Didn't find out whether or not that one was sold, the guy that kept the list going was on dinner break when we got there yesterday. So I'll find out today, which is cool with me.

I'm wishing I hadn't left that prescription at the doc's office and could've filled it sooner, lol. The pain's not totally gone, but it is much more manageable. :yahoo: So it looks like the med might indicate this may be MS related.

Good Morning! I have been up for awhile. I had one of those nights where every time I fell asleep and straightened out my left leg, I would get muscle spasms. I am going with friends to play longenberger (spelling? I know I spelled that wrong) bingo this afternoon, and then we are going out for an early dinner and exchanging XMAS presents.

Our bad weather is supposed to hit late tonight -- raining turning to freezing rain and then snow tomorrow and Tuesday. It has already been windy. (I hope Sandy's decorations have not all blown away. They are also saying that there is a chance of rain/snow on Thursday, which is when I am supposed to leave for Ohio. I am driving so if you would all pray to the snow Gods and ask them to hold off on the snow I would appreciate it.

I have to admit something here -- I hate roasts. I think it goes back to those dried out, chewy roasts we would have for dinner on Sundays with roasted potatoes and carrots. Yuck! In fact I am not too fond of any kind of beef with the exception of the occasional mushroom, swiss cheeseburger.

Speaking of food, do you guys eat dairy? I have read that it causes inflamation, but my neuro does not advocate any diet except for moderation. I love cheese so giving up dairy would be really tough.

Sarah, I cannot believe how hard you work. Is there any way you guys can hire another asst manager or cut down on your hours?

Barb, I do 38-40 hours a week....I cant afford to cut back...:( at all..

Plus here I worked the double shift yesterday...wishing it would have been overtime...but I was home sick from work friday..so my hours averaged out..shucks....doing double day shoudl be overtime....

anyhow...thanks for caring...both hubby and I work full time..and still havent been able to keep up with the bills..so I cant cut back much...some weesk I do...like this next week..starting today...our weeks are sun-sat...I am off tues wed and thurs yeahhh...

I just might someday have to find work not so tolling on my body...too...as even regular shifts can be too much...and yesterday was WAY too much...hurting...a lot...

Good Morning! It's cloudy and cold here today but next week it's supposed to get to the upper 60's! :confused: It is December, isn't it??

I don't have much going on today. I got one of those really big George Foreman grills with the gift cards I got for my birthday so we plan on having hamburgers on that for supper tonight. I'm going to make some baked beans and pasta salad. Yum....can't wait!

I make a pot roast every now and then. Seems like when I make it in the crock pot it never turns out as good as when I cook it slowly in the oven. I use my Mom's recipe....it's a little time consuming but it's well worth it. And I have time now to spend on something like that. I plan on making some chili to freeze, too.

When I went out to get my paper this morning I looked at the neighbor's house (the one they drove through :eek:) and they have a big blue tarp over the crashed in area. We're supposed to get rain through Thursday of next week so I hope they get it fixed soon!

We get a daily paper free with our cable subscription but they have given us notice that they will not be doing that anymore this coming year....guess the cost of it is just too much. I loved getting it because of the Sunday coupons.
