Default What's on your plate...?

I finally finished painting the bathroom...keep seeing new places that need touching up. Today Mr.Alffe and I are going to see a movie...that FBI one about J.Edgar Hoover. Cassie is up getting a much needed bath and haircut.
When I was younger I used to bathe our dogs...I have to wonder if any of those powders you can brush into their coats work??
Made reservations to have Thanksgiving dinner at a small cafe in a nearby town...they have a fabulous buffet and I'm sure Thursdays spread will prove to be wonderful.

Well, I was just wondering in the Wonder Thread and now I see the answer to my wonder about what you're doing for Thanksgiving Alffe. Its been my experience that folks who change up some of their traditions are often surprised and happy with their choices!

I'm going absolutely bonkers without television... sigh... it really has become a huge time filler for me. I even use it to fall asleep... sigh... again... but enough of that sighing... lol... I'll have television again by tomorrow afternoon as I signed up for a new service! yay! THAT was a stupid experiment!

Actually, I was cutting back money I spend ... and then, as luck would have it... last Friday, I am hired for a part-time job AND tomorrow I have an interview for another part-time job! So... I'll be able to fix that broken car muffler in no time! and the new TV service I signed up for has an unbelievable cheap offer for the first year.

Weird how just a month ago I was lost..... not knowing where to turn ... even went so far as to ask my Doc if she would support me if I were to try and get more of my pension early. She and I both know I may feel that debilitated at times...and pension is a solution I am grateful I can fall back on... its always healthy to keep on trying. I was patient this time... and things are turning out.

I've got to get moving now... off to a job... then one more night of no TV (thank goodness for the internet! and a good book!) ...

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I'm very grateful to have this place to talk.

Wishing all my friends here a Happy Thanksgiving. My apple pie looks horrible! but i know its gonna taste awesome... lOLOL made my cornbread for the dressing, and have my pumpkin dessert in the fridge. I hope my father-in-law can come over tomorrow. He has been running a temp the past couple days.

Again I am so thankful for my friends here.... You guys have no idea how many times you have pulled me out of that pit. I love you much....

Like Goofy said...so many things to be thankful for. Eating dinner out today will be different and fun I think....this cafe has wonderful food and always has Polish sausage that is fabulous. I haven't been able to stop thinking about Abbie and her Mexican meal....yum yum! And it doesn't matter what the pie looks like....I can smell it already!

Addy I hope you get your tv back today...I'm like you, I fall asleep to it.

I'm thinking about the Moi's and how special holidays are with children around the table.

Hugs for the room.

Banana Nut bread in the oven...smelling good! Had to use up the left over bananas after making banana cream pie. Interesting recipe in todays Parade magazine for corn pudding...may have to try that..no snow although it was in the forecast.

Still wondering about Abbie's mexican meal....

Addy I'd make that landlord some cookies if I were you.

Oh (((Goofysis))) ... my sis and brother's wife cleared up my Mom's apartment... they had to do it quickly as there was a "waiting list" for her suite. I don't know what emotions I may have had. I wonder if I was "spared" from sadness. I also wonder if I missed a learning opportunity... to "know" my Mom in a different way. I'll never know the answers to that as each of us has different relationships with our Moms.

Do you put nuts or raisins in your banana bread, Goofy?

Grand-Addy has gone home... whew! I've played every role from a baby to a horse this weekend!

I don't mind walnuts in my banana bread. I know some people find them a little bitter, but if they're chopped up and one doesn't use too many it gives a nice little crunch to the cake. I made an orange and sultana cake a couple of weeks ago and I tweeked the recipe and used cranberries instead of sultanas/raisins. It was very yummy.

Very hot and humid here early. Not even Summer technically until Thursday here. I guess the rain is on the way.

Corn pudding? Sounds interesting. When I was in the US and staying with a friend, I decided to make some Anzac biscuits. Translation is probably "oatmeal cookies". Well, I needed golden syrup and I had no idea what a "stick" of butter meant. Ended up using corn syrup instead of the golden syrup and emailing whomoi to figure out what a "stick" of butter was. The corn syrup was a BAD idea!

I have a lot to do in the garden yet, but waiting for it to cool down a little and for money to miraculously appear in my bank account so I can get the plants I'm wanting. At least this summer I have a working washing machine with a warranty. I'm very thankful for that!

I have some fresh beetroot that I'm going to make into a relish. I make tomato relish all the time for my neighbours and myself. I think this beetroot one will be great. I'll see how it goes.

Big for Goofy and Addy.

Yum...making me hungry already! I put chopped pecans in my banana bread and I only made one loaf and it's in the freezer. Did not know you can freeze bananas....skin on???? I only recently learned that you can freeze butter...never to old to learn these things.

The corn pudding has 4 oz (one stick...grins at Lara) of butter, 3 cups of fresh corn kernels (lots of corn in the freezer) 2 eggs, 1 cup sour cream, 9 oz. pepper Jack cheese, 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1 4oz can green chilies patted dry, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese..looks delicious and going to try this for Christmas.

What fun grandkids are to "horse" around with.
I can't help but think of moi with their kids...he's a big kid himself.
