he is cute ... does she have a vet where Riley will get his shots, etc??

just call and ask what they would recommend ... now, in Wisconsin - people swear by IAMS ... but, others go in a different route ...

at least he is going!! just got to get him settled down and use to his new peops ...

That's one of the things I do not miss about having a dog. The getting up to take him out to potty at 5am. Especially in the winter!

We dont have fences in our neighborhood, and I never took Tiny outside off-lead after we moved to this neighborhood. Tiny loved to be outside, even if it was 40 below sometimes...and he had the ability to change the force of gravity so that I couldnt move him. (he was 100+ pounds and had big teeth. If he didnt want to be moved, I didnt move him) I usually had to bribe him back into the house.

Nope, dont miss having to take a dog outside to potty. I have my aunt's pug Stella now for when I need to scratch a dog's ears. Stella lives across the street and loves the doggy bagels we get her at the kosher bagel store. I'm spoiling Stella like my aunt did to TinyMonsters.

Erin - Should DD21 mix the puppy chow back in and just somewhat start over? He's been eating the Wellness since Saturday and she's not too sure when he started on puppy chow. Her friend, where she got the dog, had puppy chow and that is why DD21 started with puppy chow, until she read how bad the corn was for him.

Vonn - Yes, she has a vet. He got the 1st of his shots and de-worming medicine. She called them today to ask if that is why he his having trouble. They told her no, it should have worked out of his system by now. They too felt it was the switch of food.

Sally - You are so right! DD21 will have her hands full.

If he's already been taken off the old food and it's been more than a few days, I wouldnt switch back. Probably cause more problems.

Could he be getting fed too much? Has he been dewormed? Anything creepy crawly in his poo?

If he's been a little...gooey for more than a few days. You might want to call the vet and ask what they suggest.

She brought him in last Wednesday for deworming and his 1st DHPP. The loose stools didn't start until Saturday or Sunday, right around when she changed his food. The vet office felt it was the food. But, told her if it continues then she will need to bring him in. Poor girl is beside herself right now. She sent me a text that she now knows what it's like to be a parent with a sick child. Anyhow, one of her other friends took one of the puppies too. They brought that puppy over and she ate the Wellness and had the same reaction. DD21 told the vet that and that is why, as of now, they think it might be the switch in food.

How long does it take for them to adjust to the new food?

BTW - He is not behaving as if he is sick. When he is awake, he is full on play - chewing anything he can, playing with his special chew bone, playing tug of war with his tug toy, running all over (I even got down on all 4's to play with him and he chase me around as if I was a puppy too) and he is eating and drinking and taking care of his business. He drinks a lot too. It's been a long time since I had a puppy and I don't remember how much they drink. I was surprised.

If he's not acting sick, lethargic, puking...He's probably ok. But if he's still got the gooeys after a few more days, I'd get him checked out.

If he's playing and acting like a puppy, I bet he'll be fine.

What kind of chew bone does he have? I wouldnt let TinyMonsters use the rawhide chews because one of the trainers we had when we were doing obedience school told us that a lot of rawhides are treated with strychnine to keep them from rotting, and the strychnine can cause problems with the dogs.

Tiny had this big rubber bone, black rubber, looked like it was made out of a tire or something. Bone looked like it came off a dinosaur. He tried to chew that, and was never even able to make a dent in it. Surprised me, he ate a step on the stairs once, but he could never make a dent in that bone. Chewed the thing a lot tho.

Trying to remember what I did with that bone after he died. I might have given it to my cousin for her dogs.

He is acting like a puppy. I did tell that to DD21. If he was acting sick and not waking easily and things like that, something is wrong.

He has some rubber bone thing that is supposed to taste like chicken. He's just now starting to play with it. He likes the balls, his braided chew thing, and some hat that he immediately started playing with when they 1st brought him home. He goes to town on that hat. haha

OMG he is too cute!!! I knew that mix would be irresistable. DD is going to get plenty of exercise keeping that one fit.
