He thinks it's funny how I "picked" an illness that can't be proved in test. MCS doesn't show positive on any kind of blood test or x-ray or any kind of test that Dr's can run so it comes down to watching to see what SX you have and if they come and go when the chemicals are near you and away. Now you can see when the heart rate on O2 levels change with chemical exposure but that doesn't "prove" anything.
Why would I "pick" something so awful that affects everything I eat, drink, breath & touch? Why would I even want to be sick? Does DH think it's fun for me to have my throat burn or me to have brain fog so bad that I don't know what I'm doing. Or that I like it when I can't walk straight or how about when my hands hour for hours after using a public bathroom, not to mention having awful headaches from that awful air freshener. Oh and I just LOVE the dizziness and nausea I get almost daily. And the chest pain that I have had a lot of the last few days that has just scarred me. I not happy most of the year with the weather due to my intolerance to heat & cold. I just LOVE the fact that I have really bad memory problems, even lost the first 3 years of my DD's life and LOTS of bits and pieces of childhood memories of all the kids already. Now he feels MCS is real, we even have friends from 3 years ago that have it, he just don't believe "I" have it. It's "funny" how I have the same thing after a friend has it only if it can't be proved. About 2-3 years after a friend of mine got DX with fibro I did too, fibro doesn't so up on any test and now the MCS. Oh but I do have endometriosis that Dr's have SEEN, PCOS that Dr's have SEEN, prolapsed uterus that Dr's have seen. But all that isn't an "awful illness". Why do men have to be this why? I know he's worried, he's upset, he's thinks he has to fix everything and he's can't fix this one, No he's being an *** and is treating me awful.

Hi,
I don't have any advice but wanted to send a hug. I hope this is just his stress reaction and not a pattern in your relationship. Kind men do not act mean. No one deserves to be treated disrespectfully. Jules

mom,
Being the father of 7 small children and watching their mother declining in health has to be a frightful experience for your husband. Assuming that he is not a total jerk, he should be able to learn to cope with your health issues at some point. It takes time for all parties involved to get out of their denial and defensive modes and to proceed in a calmer manner toward the future. You have to remember that he is just as scared of what is happening to you as you are. Many men tend to have an attitude too that if they just ignore a problem it will go away. He will learn that your problems will not go away because he wishes them to do so. Another round of hugs for you from me, and the best of luck coping with some really difficult problems for all of your family. gonnamakeit |

I'm sorry he's acting so insensitive. Is he still on his pain medication? That might have something to do with it. I'm not trying to make excuses for him - and nothing excuses just being plain mean to someone else - but I know you were concerned because he wasn't bouncing back after his surgery. My only advice to you is to just keep doing your thing, ignore him as much as you can and maybe he'll get tired of talking to the wall. People can just be so hurtful sometimes......makes me enjoy my cats more and more!! I'm praying for you!

I'm sorry....is there anyone you can call to come help you with the kids so you can take a break? I know having DH home is like having one more child (maybe 2!! ).

I'd also take them to the McDonald's in the mall. They had a play area and they could stay in there as long as they wanted. It wore them out and gave me a chance to just sit!! The library here has a summer reading program for younger kids. They have a story time and activities that keep them busy for a couple of hours. Your area might have the same kind of thing. It's been so long since I've had to keep kids occupied I'm a little behind the times!! Hope you have a nice afternoon with them!
