Default Moving woes

It's freaking hot!! My house is completely open because the movers are here wrapping stuff and loading the truck. Add to that, my upstairs AC is broken, and now my fan is packed. I hope everything arrives in somewhat of the same condition it left in. They dropped some furniture down the stairs and one of my new end tables now has white paint rubbed on it. I had to argue with three very large men that I was planning on checking off each item that went on the truck and was not going to take their word for it. Glad I did because a lot of stuff was missing from the inventory. Here's 5'5" greta arguing with some guy who introduced himself as "Brick House". He does resemble one.... Guess who won. I've gone through a case of water, lemonade, and coke in the last two days and now their starting in on the diet coke. It's really hot. Poor guys. I'm sweating to death and feeling sick to my stomach. Guess egg salad was not a wise idea...

The storage movers cancelled for tomorrow and will be out to pack and load on Fri. Hope it goes smoothly as well. I should have AC again tomorrow when he comes back to fix the fan. At least it wasn't the compressor. I was pleading with my HVAC guy to just make it last a couple more weeks...until we close.

Think cool thoughts and hope that they finish soon so I can close the doors. I'm really looking forward to an empty house so I can relax. I still have my TV, some good books, an air mattress, and my bathtub. That's all I need!

I sure don't envy your having to go through all this in the heat, Gret! But, think of it as an adventure. (nah, I'm not buying that either)

At least you don't have to do the packing, but it was a good plan of yours to check the items off. Hang in there and try and keep cool.

Thinking of ya~~~~~~~

Sounds like a good day for the sprinklers to me, little Gretata.

Except my sprinklers are packed!!

Actually, when this is all done, I'm heading to a friend's house. She's offered to make Cioppino and then we're going to go walking. The ocean sounds like a good idea on the way home tonight if it's not too dark.

I can't imagine if I actually had to pack this myself. There's just no way. I went from being able to stuff everything I owned in my Nova to a tractor trailer full of stuff - and I'm not even a packrat!!

Ughhh.. moving... my most hated thing in this world. We moved 9 times in 28 years on Air Force orders.

I think all those drivers they send out are "brick houses" LOL.. We moved from Northern VA to the CA desert in Aug 2001... talk about hot and cranky loaders. They showed up at our house with 10 young guys with the intent of "blowing out this house" in 3 hours. They were rough with stuff and wouldn't listen to my complaints. I ended up calling our move coordinator and he showed up and made them all leave except 3.

Then the driver decided to leave the truck parked in our driveway OVERNIGHT! ...half out into the street. Neighbors were not happy, theatened to call the police...so we contacted the move coordinator again and he straighted it all out. A new driver came and got the truck at 2am! THankfully the trailer was going to CA by rail and not with a driver.

One suggestion before your storage pick-up arrives... have a camera in your hands and document everything you aren't comfortable with.. in addition to keeping an inventory of what they load. DON"T hesitate to call the move coordinator...or whatever they call themselves now... their job is to insure your move goes smoothly.

I hope they get your A/C up and going and that Friday goes easier... Thank goodness you have a good friend to help pick UP your spirits!!

Egg salad? Are you sure it's ONLY that and the heat?

Um.... don't let Mz. Yoda hear you say that's all you need. She has distinctly different ideas about the importance of herself in your life. She hears you say that and you'll have a lovely futon on the floor with no air "lift" to it. Her excuse will be that she thought it was a squeaky fish!

Hang in there, Gresweating, it'll all be over soon and then you'll be moving into new territory. Enjoy the ocean tonight!

MMMMmm...... I LIKE your friend. Does she want to make enough for 3?

Geez, Gretata, and I thought packing out and moving in the snow was bad!

Hope you enjoy your evening, it sounds a whole lot better than your day!

Ocean? Count me in! I am ready.

That settles it. I move out of this house feet first.

You know B2Y, when you have military orders, you can go feet first, but trust me, it's a whole easier if you just go with a smile on your face!

Ssshhh, don't tell CG or Shappy, they'll eat it all!
