Default Ugh... saw a dog get run over!

Driving home form the store, I watched in horror as a huge dog - looked like a Rottie - run right out in front of the car ahead of me. Their brake lights came on, but no way did they have time to stop.

This road, the speed limit is 55. And that dog was really truckin'.

Wow, it shook the car - it was a mid-sized car, about like my 92 cougar. Flew about 15 ft and never moved. Dang I felt sick to my stomach, I knew he was gone right then. That car slowed and I thought he was going to stop, but he took off. it didn't look like anyone was home - no cars in the drive.

It was not their fault but even so, they could have at least stopped and left a note explaining what happened.

I go past that place often, can't recall having seen that dog, so I have to guess they are not in the habit of leaving him run loose. (A lot of em do, thinking we live out in the country. But there are still roads where the cars are zipping by, country or no. )On the other hand, they have lived there for a few years and STILL don't have a fence?

I just feel horrible for the dog and for his people. If there were one thing I could say to everyone before they get a dog, it would be get the fence first. It's worth saving your buddy you know? They ALL get off the chain, it's just a matter of time.
