Some xrays might at least give an idea of if it might be spine/disk problems, if you can't get an MRI right now.

I used to get a deep burning pain in my "hump" area near the cervical/thoracic junction, as well as a burning pain across my back at that level and into my shoulders.

I also would get very sore in my rhomboids - but that was usually after I had been letting my shoulder roll forward for a few days and not watching my posture.
rhomboids are fairly weak muscles and forward shoulders will over stretch them quite easily.
The rhomboids are under the edge of the shoulder blades and toward the spine and a smallish muscle - but when strained they feel like an annoying hot burning poker.

do you have an adventurous friend or family member that would read about muscle spasms & trigger points and then palpate your back muscles for you?
If they find trps it is really easy to do the 10-20 sec of pressure to try to release them. Then a smoothing stoke/stretching across the area to finish.
drink lots of fluids after also.

i took 5 billion naproxen and iced which helped a lot or else i have a feeling id be in bed.

i really feel like the swelling starts "back there" rhomboids, traps etc, then creeps around to my chest area, if that makes sense. i could get my dad to help with my back trps but hes kinda..impatient. grrr at least i go back to chiro on tues.

like if i got a cortisone shot, that would just be putting off dealing with my problem? im assuming. its so tempting bc of this damn inflammation.

did that chiro do any positional testing to rule in/out if it could be from cervical or T spine?
traction/compression, tilting of head to find if pain increased or no changes...
that sort of thing?

Of course you have have both TOS & spinal stuff , sorry but it's possible...
thus makes for a more complex case..

Just a note that too much of any over the counter med does have effects also

I messed my tummy & gut up from too much Advil/Motrin when trying to keep working... sensitive tummy and minor IBS....
so be careful, I had no clue back then and did not do a search on it.

stress & tension does aggravate things.
we tighten up and breath more shallowly - work to relax & do deep diaphragm breathing.

http://www.eorthopod.com/content/sna...apula-syndrome

really describes me i think

i have had traction i think...it didnt hurt to do it though, it didnt really do anything. so i guess that's good :/ decided to take tylenol..it doesnt really work well but i figure its better than having an ulcer.

ART does work for anyone having neck problems. i believe my shoulder issues are a bit more complicated

Laugh Less does more

Having recovered almost completely from Bilateral TOS, I can definitely tell you less does more. My main suggestion is relaxation! Try the hot tub, a warm shower over the back of your neck and deep breaths as you are doing it.

NEVER EVER EVER LIFT ANYTHING OVER EIGHT POUNDS!
IF IT HURTS STOP DOING IT IMMEDIATELY!
TALKING ON THE PHONE (holding it up to my ear) EVEN STARTS THINGS HURTING.
I don't care what most docs say, they don't know TOS. Less is more.

My wrists bothered me when I had tight/spasmed muscles in my upper body.
Even my forearms were in some spasms and all that tension was causing a pulling on my wrist joints, reducing the tension above the wrist stopped the pain. I also had triggerpoints & referred pain/symptoms that played a part in it all too.

the full pressure pointer chart- clicking on the different muscle names brings up more info so you can find which might apply for you -

well my lats, teres minor..all of those are inflamed so that makes sense. it feels CTS-ish

i emailed an rsi specialist and she gave me this advice and i haven't been paying attn to REACHING type mvments. i walk dogs and my sx get worse, so it makes sense

"
Sounds like your symptoms are due to neural tension. Weight lifting at this time would aggravate symptoms. You need to focus on reducing nerve tension and irritation first. Avoid reaching or end range positions with the arms. The nerves need to be released along their pathways, not just in one area. Joint mobilization to the mid back area also help most times. When the nerves calm down, you can start "sliding" exercises. Hope this helps- I know the advice is somewhat general, but without examining you it is difficult to be specific."

sry for lazy typing skills
