I pushed myself through a vacation with my family a few months after my main symptoms got bad and it was much needed. It was an altitude decrease for me, which yes the pressure was there as well as the light issues but in my attempt it was worth it. It wasn't much worse to me than a normal rainy day pressure and though I don't remember all of it I had a great time and so very needed to get away.

Driver swore his breaks locked up, so no slow down at all. . Diagnosis: Severe concussion, severe whiplash with total muscle failure 6 weeks after wreck, bulging disk between C1 & C2, mild optical damage, nerve damage affecting right arm and leg as well as right eye, PCS and TBI. . Current symptoms: Brain fog, panic attacks, delayed memory issues, confusion, trouble thinking, spacing out, near dyslexic writing/typing, vision focus issues, eyes don't work 'together', muscle spasms in neck make breathing difficult at times, numbness in right side when symptoms get worse, oh the headaches, depression and anxiety, just not me at all! . |

I would recommend you go on the vacation. You may find that you cannot walk very far without getting out of breath but you can always sit and look at the beautiful scenery. You need to get away. Do it.

I felt the same way 100% and he's right, there will be times you won't be able to do certain things but make sure your family knows it's ok to go without you and don'tbe upset about it! Just use that time to grab your shades and sit outside and relax a bit. My boys wanted to go hiking an old waterfall area and I knew that at that point I wasn't up to it so I sat on the hill feeling a little sad... then a squirrel came up and i fed it and watched him play and it made such a difference in my whole outlook.
I"m sorry yours took so long to diagnose. I am still in that hole. No one knows why I am still having any issues so I am starting to brank out and find my own specialists who treat my symptoms and see if someone can't help. It sucks that we suffer longer, and go without life's fun because people don't know and won't research. I didn't ever find anything until I found this site where everyone basialcly found that ONE doctor who figured it out, finally. Quote:

Hi Mia~
In the past 3 years of my adventures in PCS I've made several trips to Flagstaff, AZ which the elevation is around 7,000'. I live at about 1,200' elevation and for me, fortunately, the change in elevation didn't cause any issues, but that was me and I had to put my toe in the water to see what would happen. I'm not sensitive to pressure changes with weather changes either. Those pressure changes are minute (small) when compared to the change in elevation from here (Phoenix) to much higher elevations. Take your time, don't over commit yourself to any speed hiking at altitude, stay hydrated, and just enjoy! ![]() Mike

December 15, 2009: Major surgery due to diverticulitis. 6 weeks after surgery, dizziness, fog, cognitive difficulty, anxiety, some panic, lots of headache. These symptoms largely gone, but still cannot exercise above a very low threshold otherwise resulting in severe headache and cognitive fog. Same for overwhelming odors. Meds: Nortriptyline and Naratriptan as needed to rid severe headaches (exertional migraines). |

I had to stay behind because I cannot miss appt with new vestibular therapist this week.I have waited a month for this appt.I feel fine about missing trip.....I just have so much energy and ready to get this vestibular going because I will be 2years in less then 6months.
But I did make it out to socialize....I went to a bar/club with a friend and had one Merlot, had fun, feel fine today,And realized my charisma is coming back! One of my friends came to see me back in Jan (before I got meds) and gave advice:That no matter what everyday I get dressed like you have somewhere to go 5days out of the week and at least leave the house daily for at least 30min....well I took it and have ran with it lol!!!I don't want to stop pushing to regain life and the only way I pump my breaks lol is if body declines....I told myself the next few months until I hit 2year mark is dedicated to vestibular.....I might get angry because I am putting car keys up for some months because I will do my vestibular with MD and constant @ home ![]()
