Update 2/01/16: I stopped taking the Topamax and resumed the Indomethacin Saturday PM and by Sunday I was already feeling "better" or at least back to how I was before.

For whatever reason the Topamax strongly disagreed with me and even with a tiny 25mg dose made me feel like I had a stroke or something. Cognitive function was worse than ever.

I guess I will stay on my current course for a while longer.

Are there any natural anti-depressant or mood-elevating supplements anyone would recommend? St Johns Wort? 5HTP? Stuff like that? I'm already taking the basic supplement regimen (B-50 complex, omega-3's, etc).

You could try a small dose of 5-HTP. 50 mgs to start, then maybe 100 mgs if 50 does not help. If you can't find 50 mgs, then start with 100. The easiest way to tell you are taking too much 5-HTP is you will sweat easily.

You do not want to take Sumatriptan and 5-HTP at the same time. Nor St John's Wort and Sumatriptan or 5-HTP.

I suggest staying away from St John's Wort. Too many variables.

Are you taking a good dose of B-12 ? 1000 to 2500 mcgs ?

If you stop breathing during the night, that cause cause headaches, fatigue and many other symptoms.

I haven't heard of SHTP before. However, I'm not too familiar with supplements.

5-HTP is the precursor to serotonin. Some take L-Tryptophan which is made into 5-HTP when the brain needs it. It is safer to take L-Tryptophan because the body regulated how much is converted to 5-HTP then serotonin.

Some with PCS become serotonin deficient which leads to anxiety and depression. B-12 and the rest of the vitamins can help the brain tolerate stress and be less anxious and less depressed.

Hmmm....Now that you mention it, no.

I am taking the B50 complex as you recommended. I take that and most of my supplements with a smoothie I make in the morning.

I bought methylCobalamin b12 1000 mcg but was suggested it is better to take between meals. The result is I simply forget to take it!

I presume taking it with food would be better than not taking it at all?

I'm placing the bottle front and center to remind me. Thanks

So better to take the L-T? I read it helps sleep so I guess best at bedtime? Hopefully no interaction with my Indomethacin. What is a safe dose to start with?

200 mgs of L-T are OK. Some take more. For some, the L-T does not convert to 5-HTP properly. One maker claims their specific L-T will cross the Blood Brain Barrier so it converts better.

I take 100 mgs of 5-HTP and 200 mgs of L-Theanine when I wake up then 200 mgs of L-T at lunch with my complete regimen.

I have not tried the L-T or 5-HTP before bed. I take 600 mgs of gabapentin before bed. It might be worth trying L-T or 5-HTP before bed instead.

I tried L-Tyrosine and had a very bad emotional reaction after 2 doses so I have not taken it since.

I'm taking 200mg of 5-HTP in the morning and at night on recommendation of my concussion specialist. He claims 400mg is recommended for headaches. I slowly built up to this level and find it much easier to go to sleep. Headache intensity and frequency definitely less. I am unable to tolerate any prescription headache/depression/anxiety meds and this has been very helpful. Still have my bad days, but overall, symptoms more tolerable.
