cool days coming

I thing we get sprayed for mosquitoes from the air year round.

I am hoping for some cool days in Jan and February. My room has been hot and I look sweaty and feel wilted halfway through the day ( a/c not right).

Friday it was 59 degrees in the late a.m. when I left for school wearing a warmer shirt than usual and a scarf.

DiMarie 01-20-2013 03:15 AM

Our polar air mass may be here Thursday. Calling for teens, to 20* and single digits at night. Only a few days. Still no pond freezing, the Pocono's are usually busy with skiers, but resorts are relying on man made snow with a few inches here and here. I have to admit I look forward to one good blizzard, watch the local coverage on the news...while power is on. I don't like losing power even though we have a good generator. As long as no one is at work and home for the event I don't fret much.

Mari did my previous reply upset/annoy you?

Dear Mari

i didn't mean to offend you ... i honestly just found your (earlier) question really funny. :o i thought it would be ok to reply as i did, but perhaps i was wrong. i am sorry if i hurt your feelings or even simply annoyed you by joking on it. :( if that is the case please accept my apologies.

Waves

I am hoping it didn't do so to Mari.

I have to say it gave me a nice smile. I had the need today. Thanks.

Dear Donna,

thanks for the feedback. i really hope Mari was ok with it too. i just had second thoughts because when i came to check the thread for new posts, i also noticed she did not acknowledge that reply in any way. so then it occurred to me that maybe she did not appreciate it... or not in a positive way.

i am really glad it gave you a smile though! :)

Waves,

Tremendously appreciated your joke and I thought through appropriate responses --- but none were funny to write out.

Next time, I promise to respond in such a way that at least says that I enjoyed the joke.

M

Brokenfriend 01-21-2013 12:41 AM

Waves I worry about my jokes also. If I think that I've hurt someones feelings, I feel like I've been run over by a truck. It would just aggrandize in my mind, and I'd hurt emotionally. BF:hug::hug::hug:

I am hoping for a high of 20* to work tomorrow. But watching for snow too. May have to reschedule if snow hits early. The temps are dropping fast, always colder on the mountain then in the valley. Will be single digits by Tues and Wed. Nights.

Keep warm Steve.

Mari 01-21-2013 02:02 AM

Hi, Steve,

Stay warm.

Mari

bizi 01-21-2013 09:43 AM

stay warm up north....I think we are in for a long winter....
bizi

butterfly11 01-21-2013 12:16 PM

It is sunny and 61 degrees here. The low tonight is in the 40's.

Brokenfriend 01-24-2013 08:22 PM

It's 8:23 PM,and the temperature here is 21 degrees. NOAA is calling for a little snow here on Friday. We have a 80% chance of snow tomorrow, and tomorrow night. They are saying that we might have a inch,or so.

I hope that this cold weather freezes those stink bugs, and those orange beetles. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 01-24-2013 09:50 PM

Steve,

We could use a freeze to get rid or our bugs and other pests too.

M

waves 01-24-2013 10:29 PM

Yeah it's been colder here but still not cold enough...

And it's nearing midwinter... here by folklore the last few days of jan are supposed to be the coldest... midwinter would actually be the first few days of feb, but... ??? anyway. if we don't get a freeze soon... we'll be warming up again... sheez.

Dmom3005 01-25-2013 11:10 AM

Well it snowed at my house again today. I have a nice dusting.

I believe its in the low 20's right now. Tomorrow its supposed to
be in the teens. Our wind chills always send us lower. But I sure
hope its not bad.

Last week we were in the negatives. So I don't really think its going
to get as bad as it was here. So that is good.

Everyone stay warm. Thats the job we all have in my neck of the woods.

And having a vehicle that will stay running.:grouphug:

Donna:grouphug::hug:

butterfly11 01-25-2013 04:56 PM

It's 72 right now. I just went outside in longsleeves to play with the children and I came in because I was sweating. I could use a little more winter. Just a smidge - the 60's at least would be nice.

Dmom3005 01-25-2013 10:10 PM

Come on to Indiana, you will get the 20's and 30's.

Have a great night, and day tomorrow. Enjoy.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

DiMarie 01-25-2013 10:42 PM

Stay warm Steve. It is single digits since Monday below zero at night. Add that to the wind chill its havoc on my asthma. Snow twice this week. The guys are working and it's too cold for the road salt to work. On the good side, when its this cold the snow is dry enough to blow around. I went with a BFF of 38 years for moral support at a hearing for ex husbands fraud case on retirement benefits. He added his second wife although the divorce stated my friend was to receive. Still not resolved today as documents were missing. Her ex admitted on the stand he knew it was not right but never notified anyone. Now that second wife is divorcing him, I guess he is ready to come clean! But it was so cold when we left only 4* out. Ate at Olive Garden and she felt much better. After 2 years next hearing is in less then two weeks. Hope it is warmer!

video of cold air

Hi,

Here is a NOAA map of cold air moving across the US from Saturday to Thursday:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slate...this_week.html

Quote:

As anyone north of Florida has probably already pieced together for themselves by now, this week has been a bitterly cold one for most of the country. The bad news: The frosty weather is expected to stick around over the next few days for much of the country. The good news: NOAA has this rather awesome-looking video of how the cold air spread. It's probably not an equal tradeoff for those of you living in Crane Lake, Minn. (where the mercury fell to negative-35 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday), but, hey, at least it's something.

M

Brokenfriend 01-26-2013 12:35 AM

Hey Mari. That was interesting. We had a snow dusting today, and the temperature didn't go above freezing. It's 23 degrees right now.

I hope that it kills more, and more stink bugs.:) BF:hug::hug::hug:

bgt1121 01-26-2013 01:35 AM

I have to agree about it killing off the bugs but boy is it cold for NC and we got the ice not so much snow.
Try to stay way warm and be safe till the roads clear later in the morning

I have noticed over many years that North Carolina gets terrible Ice storms. BF :grouphug:

sun light

:icon_cool:
Hi,

The days are getting longer.
When I come home at night after my long days we still have some light.

I am so happy.
In one more month we change clocks (Spring Forward).

M

DiMarie 02-01-2013 08:31 PM

Felt good to see sun after 5. PM.
We had terrible squalls come through again today. Tonight is still icy out tons of accidents. I got called out for tractor trailer rear ended by school bus, but the attorney for the trucking co. Told the employer not to let me risk accident. I can get the photos and follow up tomorrow. Felt bad for the driver, he was very upset nothis fault, the bus could not stop. Minor injuries and he is okay.
Me,
Snug as a bug, but waiting for men to get off work. Living on the mountain is travel risky. I worry with all the accidents tonight.
Down in teens up here again.
Watching undercover boss, shark tank, and listening to the police scanner.

Dmom3005 02-01-2013 08:50 PM

Be careful DiMarie

I know what the weather is giving in our area.

So I can only guess there.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

Brokenfriend 02-01-2013 10:42 PM

Di We have had terrible wind storms in the last couple of days also. The winds have calmed down at this time, and the temperature is 22 degrees at 10:42 PM(Friday). BF:hug::hug::hug:

bgt1121 02-02-2013 01:27 AM

we had quite a bit of wind today but tomorrow should be much calmer thank goodness all the ice melted by sunday am.Broken Friend i have to agree with you we do get some pretty bad ice storms, this last one the other day was mild and it was the first one we have had in several years. Don't mind snow but hate the ice.Everyone stay warm and be safe
Gail

Mari 02-02-2013 02:54 AM

Steve and Gail,

I remember ice storms on the East Coast when I was a child. They were beautiful and we got to stay home from school.
As an adult, I do not think I would want to deal with them.
I hope your weather improves.

M

Dmom3005 02-02-2013 06:30 PM

Everyone please stay safe. I guess in my area the ground hog didn't see
his shadow. So we are supposed to have a short winter. Well that is
great.

But that doesn't say anything about how the snow, ice and sleet and rainy
weather will be.

So we will see.

Everyone be safe.

Donna:hug::grouphug:

DiMarie 02-02-2013 08:23 PM

More snow again yesterday, last night, and today. Really slick out although not much accumulation. My ds is on the way home from work now, really worried as accidents across the area on the scanner.

Brokenfriend 02-02-2013 09:09 PM

We have had flurries today(Saturday). It's 27 degrees at 9:10 PM,and my car is covered in a quarter of a inch of snow. No biggie. We've had just a little snow so far. BF:hug::hug::hug:

DiMarie 02-07-2013 09:01 PM

Well, here. We go again! A huge storm, they have names now! NEMO
The temps are at least out of the single digits. I saw six tree duty trucks come into the local mini mart from Ohio headed to Massachusetts saying they. Are expecting FEET of snow, and storm surge.
I think ours will be nearer to a foot, with strong winds.
Need gas for the generator in case the power goes out.
Di

Brokenfriend 02-07-2013 10:03 PM

Oh my goodness Di. Your are right where the storm is headed. Please get what you need now. BF:hug::hug::hug:

bizi 02-08-2013 12:22 AM

be safe di, hope you don't lose power yikes!
bizi

Dmom3005 02-08-2013 10:49 AM

Stay safe Di, I had heard about this one.

I am having a heat wave of 40's right now. And I'm worried we will get
the lows in 20's and single digits soon.

Derrick has a cold and hasn't felt good. Ugh, watching him he is doing
okay, just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Donna:hug::grouphug:

DiMarie 02-08-2013 01:25 PM

Hunkering in , ds has work at 4 PM, dh suppose to go in at 7PM. As soon as it starts accumulating, ds will leave, I am hoping.
Dh is stubborn enough to think he can make it down off the mountain and home again. Looks like less then a foot, getting the back side, more then the direct stuff Massachusetts will be getting.

Donna, would love to feel some 40's right now. At least brutal cold eased up the last two days to 20's. I hope Derrik feels better soon and doesn't get any worse.
