Oprah: A Conversation with Thich Nhat Hanh About Savor

http://www.oprah.com/spirit/A-Conver...-About-Savor/2

This is from Orpah's web site about mindfulness and eating:

Quote:

For many people, emotions are closely tied to food, although the precise nature of this relationship varies from person to person.
Some people tend to eat more when they are joyful, while others tend to eat less.

If we do not attempt to look deeply to understand our craving, it will grow and we will form unhealthy habits.

In maintaining our well-being, we need to use mindfulness to help us be fully aware of how these various emotions affect how we eat and to cultivate a healthy and positive relationship to food.

yes that is one thing that I need to do is slow down when eating, they say that you are full after 20 minutes of eating....
thank you for posting this.
bizi starting day 5...last day with PT jay...then one more week with another PT.. I think that I will just need to continue building up the muscles in my shoulder and arm which will take time.
my turkey meat loaf was edible....needs help, will top with salsa next time, it was over cooked and very dry, too much cilantro, not enough onion.
sigh, made up the receipe...oh well, something different. Hubby did not complain too much.
Shrimp tonight!
have a great healthful day!

I looked back at my notes...I actually started dieting on March 11th that is when I weighed myself. So I am useing that date.
So far I have lost 3 pounds. Which I am very happy about. It may be water weight but still seeing the scale weigh less is motivating to keep trying.

!0 top veggies from real age, living strong!

If you're a broccoli lover, you've picked a winner. From a list of 10 of the most commonly consumed vegetables in the country, broccoli holds the top spot for having the most phytochemicals -- compounds everyone's urged to consume because they protect against chronic diseases. At the bottom of the list? Cucumbers, described by some people as "water you can eat."
The 9 runners-up to broccoli were spinach, yellow onions, red peppers, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, celery, and cucumbers. Red peppers actually beat out broccoli in terms of having the highest levels of antioxidants. The same researchers also have rated 10 of the most popular fruits. Cranberries -- with the most phytochemicals and the most antioxidants -- topped that list, followed by apples, red grapes, strawberries, peaches, lemons, pears, bananas, oranges, grapefruit, and pineapple.
Food scientists aren't ranking veggies just to satisfy their curiosity, by the way. They're contemplating a bioactivity index (BI) for dietary cancer prevention to help grocery shoppers quickly spot the fruits and veggies that have the biggest health benefits.
