Drinking more water might help you with the dry mouth too.:)

i use biotene which helps a bit. water doesn't help but thanks

indeed
the dry mouth effect of meds is not from dehydration but by causing a decrease in salivation, so increasing fluid intake does not help.
sipping water constantly might make one "feel better"... only by virtue of mechanically rewetting the mouth, but it isn't the same as increasing the production of saliva. saliva keeps the teeth and gums healthy. i just looked up biotene. i see that helps counteract the dry mouth effect, and does aid in tooth and gum preservation. thanks Bobby. ;) love ~ waves ~ |

We had a thread about Xylitol (an ingredient of Biotene) a little while ago. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ghlight=saliva http://www.xylitolsalvation.com/faq's I use Biotene toothpaste and Biotene mouthwash. There is even a handy spray available now that one can carry around in a purse. Other products similar to Biotene are available now but I cannot remember their names. M |
thank you for posting this....I am going to look into this!

memories
Hi
When I searched for the Biotene thread I ran across the thread about my stroke. I had a stroke July 16 ---- fifteen days after that Biotene post. My colleague got diagnosed with cancer the same month I had the stroke. He spoke about his cancer at work and got support. I did not tell anyone about the stroke until over a year later. M |
that was a hard year. Where were you when you had the stroke...I forget...if it causes you pain to recount then of course ignore my question.

Found something
I found a way to help with tarter. I first got the stuff off my teeth at the dentist. There are these little brushes called go-betweens. If you use them regular, which I really do, I don't get the build up of tarter at all. My cleaning last time took all of 5 minutes. I also use biotene as I get dry mouth too. I will actually get up in the middle of the night to swish if it is bothersome. Once during the night helps, as before bed. Hope It works. I just started using the biotene last month. ginnie

i am feeling sorry for myself. last night i had a few nightmares and woke up really depressed. i called my friend yesterday who lost her husband and who is still depressed obviously and i couldn't carry on a good conversation. i felt so badly over it. i felt like saying well after a few minutes i better go but didn't. my cats are fine and keep me going. i started reading the road less traveled and it is stirring up a lot about my parents and how badly they treated me and how i really didn't have a chance to have a life. they just made my bipolar so much worse. once i became a teenager they just criticised and criticised me because i was a noncomformist. i couldn't help it.
now i am still a 67 year old noncomformist with an almost non stop depression. it is weird when i see cute animal pictures my depression lifts or when i talk or hear about animals my depression lifts. last night i had chinese food and oatmeal so there went my diet. there is something positive about my trying to maintain my diet even though i haven't been losing weight but when i gain back some weight i feel just dreadful. i ordered the chinese food because i felt so awful. bobby |
