Hi, Hilary,
Thank you.

I expect that the two of us will work it out.

Mari

Yes, people with Asperger's can suffer from anxiety.

And the thing with Asperger's is that they are very bright.
They just don't function the same way quote(regular) people do.
They have their quirk's. Also I believe many are obsessed with things.
Doing things in a specific way. Personally I can't look up like many
on here can. But I would definately look up and read up on it.

I think it would help you a lot to understand it better.

I know as a example one of the kids in my son's program that graduated
last year, was considered a behaviour (emotional) disability until they had
him retested for a autism disability. In 7th or 8th grade. Because this teacher
of record. Just thought there was more to it. And they found that he has
asperger's, and started working in the right programming for him. It made
a big difference, in many ways. He had also been picked up by the probation
department, and she was going to try sending him to a more restrictive center. Which is why they brought me in.

He is also the one that was involved in helping my son. He knew how to use
the magnet, and wanted to do the things needed to help. But with out the
proper diagnosis, in his case it wouldn't have worked.

THis in no way says your husband is. Just one example.

Default on line Aspie-quiz

We took a 188 question quiz on-line:

Apparently, he has both Aspie and Neurotypical Traits:

Quote:
Your Aspie score: 122 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 99 of 200 You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

I am not sure what the results mean.
I am going to take a lunch break and forget about this for a little while.

Default test was long and I made some mistakes

I skipped two questions in this section that would have shown that he has Aspie traits:

Quote:
Environment
This group contains traits that seem to be of environmental origin. Typical traits are related to stress and overload (e.g. shutting down; having a meltdown) and consequences of not fitting in (e.g. depression; being bullied; being taken advantage of; low self-esteem; suicidal thoughts; harming oneself; mood swings).

Diagnostic relation
A high score is related to many psychiatric diagnoses and is sometimes required in order to get a diagnosis.
Your group score: 6.2 of 10 (average).
If I had clicked on the right spots, he would have scored much higher in this section.

Red face

I am glad that you are trying to figure this out, it will help you to understand what is happening.
Is he willing to seek professional help in any of this?

Mari

I didn't even know this was on-line. I'm glad you found this.

I'm also glad you guys did this together if I read that right. This to
me also means he might be willing to work to understand this.

This to me is something that when you know its involved helps.
You then work to help get things together so the person and the others
involved know how to work through the issues.

I know a few adults who have gone through life and in their cases because
of their children being diagnosed they were.

Default I will find another on-line test to take someday when I have time

Hi,

I have no way to understand the results of that test. The test stunk ---- I need a better one ----- one that is much shorter, less confusing, better written, and gives clear results at the end ----- (188 questions are you kidding me?) Some questions had double negatives ---- too much thinking on a head fog day.

For all I know, he has about 10 or 12 traits that add up to Apsie-like behavior.

Everything else can be explained by OCD controlling personality disorder.

Heart pro eval time?

Dear Mari

It sounds to me like between the first (long, confuriating, doublenegated) test, and this last list you posted, you have enough pre-information...

The thing is here is Aspies will have OCD traits so it will take a professional to say whether
  • AS is driving the "apparent" OCD
  • AS and OCD are both present
  • there is no AS but only OCD
Online self-tests are only meant to be suggestive, and are iffy, so rather than spend more time this way, i really might move on to a professional evaluation, which would be more conclusive.

just my 2c.

anyway, good work on the self-screening.
it does tell you this is something worth looking into.
you are moving in the right direction.

Good luck with everything.
