I too am so glad that you got a second opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!
He sounds like a good doctor, thinking about you as a whole picture/person. TAking your other issues into consideration.I would call him wholistic in that manner. Happy for you. Good luck tomorrow. Am sorry you have a storm coming. It rained last night and is chillier than I like. Have a good day! bizi:) |
We are supposed to get rain and snow this morning that will turn into all snow later for a total of 3-5" during the day. Tonight will be windy, and we're supposed to get another 8-12". If that isn't bad enough, we're expecting a wintry mix tomorrow, and snow showers tomorrow night and Friday morning. Who knows what will happen tho? The forecasts are often wrong.
The gastro's office called yesterday to move my 4pm appointment up to 2:30. It would be nice if some chickens cancel, and I can get in earlier. I hate cleaning off my car, and I'm afraid of falling, but I'm not afraid of driving in the snow, and I fully intend on making it to my appointment today because it's so important. I just really, really hope the don't decide to close the office. Yesterday was just a shitty day... They are renovating the vacant apartment upstairs and turned off the water without warning- while I was in the shower covered in soap. And it was another HUGE PITA getting the laundry done. I went to the store to pick up a chicken pie in case I run out of food because I thought I was due to go grocery shopping tomorrow. But somewhere I got confused... I have enough food in the house to take me way past tomorrow. I don't know what I was thinking :confused::confused: Anyway... I'm going to take an early shower today so I don't get stuck in there if they turn off the water again, and I'll be ready in case the gastro's office calls to offer me an earlier appointment. |
I’m glad I took that early shower because the doctor’s office called to offer me a 9:30am appointment, I was already ready and I jumped at the chance.
The NP was very nice, but he was more concerned about the hernia/prolapse and possibly of colitis than my actual constipation. Right now I’m scheduled for a colonoscopy on the 19th at an outpatient facility, but when I had my upper GI done, I had to have it at the hospital because of the meds I take, and that was before I was diagnosed with kidney disease. I told the medical assistant she had to check with my gastro to see what he thinks is best. Corey needs an answer soon so he can give work notice he needs the day off. She was supposed to give me directions for the prolonged colonoscopy prep, but gave me the wrong sheet, so I have to call about that. For the constipation, he suggested taking less mag. Citrate more often, which is in line with what the nephrologist is more comfortable with. He doesn’t like the idea of how much I was taking, or the roller coaster ride I’ve been on. We woke up without power, and the snow was up to the windows of my car. But Ellen from upstairs and Miguel from next door cleaned it off for me, dug it out, and moved it for the plow.. SOOO NICE!!! So I invited them both upstairs for coffee when they are done. They are still out there tho. We’re expecting to be without power for 24hrs+. That means no heat or hot water, but we have a gas oven, so we can use the stove top. I also have no internet (and obviously no TV), so I’m writing this on my phone, and have to save battery. I hope everyone is doing okay. I look forward to catching up when I get my Wi-Fi back. |
Kay,
Sometimes I cannot follow the medical stuff well enough to respond to it. I am glad you seem o.k. with the NP. 'So nice of your neighbors to dig out the car and move it for the plow. I hope that your electricity comes back quickly and that you are comfortably warm enough during the wait. In these situations one can appreciate having a gas stove. M |
It is absolutely FREEZING in here!!!
We have no hot water, so I had no shower yesterday. This morning I boiled a big pot of water and split it into a big bowl for rinsing and a smaller bowl with a diluted soapy solution to wash the important parts of my body. That worked out well, but I couldn’t avoid the freezing water when I washed my hair. Last night I made Lipton’s chicken noodle soup, but I really don’t have anything else I can cook on the stove top, and our aim-flame died this morning. I ordered a few things online from Target that are supposed to be available today, but the store may be closed, so IDK if that will work out. Last night we played cribbage to pass the time. We turned in early because it was so f***ing cold. I put an (extra) big comforter on the bed, so we were warm in bed and at least we slept well. The rumor is we may not get power back this weekend:( |
Kay,
That's so hard, especially with no information about when power is coming back. Can you sit in the car with the heat on to warm up for a little while? I hope you get your food delivery. If Target is closed, there might be other stores that are up and running that deliver. M |
Target was open. so I was able to go pick up my order. It was F***ING FREEZING, so I was SO HAPPY to get out of here!!! My first stop was Dunkin' Donuts to get a REAL cup of coffee.
By the time I went out, most of the street lights were working again, and most of the businesses I drove past were open, but it was patchy. When I got home, I didn't want to get out of the car and go in :( By the time Corey got home, the power was on right up the street, so he was very disappointed to come home and find out we had none. But we got power back around 7:30 last night!!! :):):):):) We cranked the heat as soon as we got it back last night. It's still only about 65 degrees in here, but I'll take it! We lost everything in the fridge and freezer. I will throw some things out just to be safe. I guess it's a good opportunity to clean the fridge? I'll do some grocery shopping today. I guess I will have to be very careful with my list so I don't miss anything important that I would normally take for granted, but I don't have to replace everything all at once. I'm sure the store will be mobbed, so I'm not looking forward to it. I have a bunch of medical crap to follow up on Monday because all my doctors' offices have been closed due to the storm. Most of them haven't had power... But now I do!!! :):):) |
I'm very happy this morning because since we have power, my Keurig is operational, and I have real coffee. And I since I went food shopping, I have real milk to put in it :)
The grocery store was packed but fully stocked. It cost $120 to buy food for most of the week and replace some staples that had to be disposed of. I cleaned the fridge and freezer before going to the supermarket. It was a really big job, and I'm really feeling it, especially in my legs. I took a 3 hour nap, and waking up wasn't easy. Lots of pain and spasms in my legs this morning. I am almost out of medical MJ. I will have to go get more on Monday. I sure as hell won't be getting what I got last time because it got me really, really stoned no matter how much I smoked, and that's not what I want. I'm much more interested in controlling the spasticity in my legs overnight. St. Patrick's Day is next Saturday, and I take my corned beef and cabbage very seriously, but I need a new crock pot because Corey threw my old one out when we moved. I am searching the inventory at local stores online. If I can't find anything, I will have to buy one off of Amazon. The hunt is pretty enjoyable :) I need cat food (15lb bag), too... I'm sure my mailman must hate me. |
HI Kay,
I don't understand how you could have lost everything in the freezer too? So sorry for the power outage. This has been a rough winter for you. You have very nice neighbors! Am hoping that the extended colon cleanse works, maybe enemas would help. I had to take one before my colonoscopy because I was not "clear" before the test. I am hoping that you get some answers. Hugs today my friend! ((((((HUGS))))) and get thyself to the dispensary for those muscle spasms!@ bizi |
I put the frozen foods in a cooler filled with snow out on the deck, but that didn't work out. The snow didn't melt, but the food partially thawed. And even though we weren't opening and closing the fridge, nothing stayed cold, and some things weren't even cool. The milk turned sour. That's just two days without power...
And we are supposed to get our "third Nor'easter in two weeks" beginning tonight. The snow totals keep changing, but right now, according to the Weather Channel app (which is lousy), we are supposed to get high winds and gusts and 1-3" overnight and 5-8" tomorrow. Last night the local news was forecasting a bigger storm with bigger snow totals tho. We shall see. All I know is I will lose my s*** if we lose power again. I have to get an oil change because when I went out to buy groceries Saturday, some warning bells went off in the car, but there was no warning icon on my user control panel- probably because of the way Corey installed the stereo (if you bypass OnStar that can happen). I looked at some things that I can see on my own and it looks like I need coolant, so I'll get an oil change today. I hope that's all it is. Then it's off to the dispensary to buy more medical MJ. I don't know if I'm brave enough to try anything new this time. The stuff I bought the first time worked out well. There are actually product reviews... maybe I will read some before going. I looked for crock pots/slow cookers for hours yesterday. I wanted the same one I had, or something similar, but couldn't find anything that came close until I searched for it on Google. It's actually a roaster that you can slow cook in. My Grandmother bought me the old one almost 15 years ago when Corey and I moved in together. It was white, and my step mother borrowed it, and returned it stained with baked on spaghetti sauce. I bought the silver one this time: Amazon.com: Nesco 4816-47 Roaster Oven with Porcelain Cookwell, 6-Quart, Silver/Black: Electric Roasters: Kitchen & Dining |
