I'm with you Bobbi. This is meant to be a friendly forum where we can try to help other people with neurological problems, not jump on them to show your 'superior' computer knowledge and to give your ego a boost.
Speaking for myself, I am just mentally and physically unable to get too deeply involved in computers. It can take up a huge amount of time and keyboard use, and I can't afford that. Mine works very well with Vista, and I am perfectly happy with it.

My apologies for whatever it is I said/wrote/offered that you seem to have taken such great offense to. I really had no thought that anything I may have said would be viewed as offensive or demeaning or patronizing in any way

To not mention or suggest the lowest priced and most cost-effective, highest performance, most reasonable, long lasting, options at that would not have been a very responsible thing to do. In my opinion it wouldn't anyway...

I was not under any misconception that you were soliciting anyone for anything. I was simply making you an offer of a free long term solution for your PC compatibility issues. No strings attached, nothing asked for nor expected for in return. I withdraw whatever offer of anything you are so offended by. You expressed needs and desires and limited resources that I believed myself and others to be in possession of the tools and knowledge of the solutions necessary to resolve in the most performance and cost effective way to permanently resolve those issues and concerns.

I'm not....Never apologize for your dis-satisfaction with anything. That something I say or do doesn't please you should have no reflection on whether what was being offered is of no or negative value. That you "bothered " to even bring the subject up is a good thing that may cause others to think about better or different ways to accomplish and meet their own needs and goals without having to deal with issues others have dealt with before them.

vista seems to work ok but word pad costs now -the greedy swines

but office suite from linux is free dowlnoad

the cd burner works for 3 months and then you have to pay for software or i have to pay for the real player version or buy external cd burner or just use flash drive

I keep my older laptop next to me - which has XP and I boot that baby up when I need something to go "right" or as I anticipate. . Hard to let go of the familiar, particularly when it works well.

I miss the good ol' days, too. I ain't dumb when it comes to 'puters. But: I'm also not accustomed to spending money to replace programs I've already purchased (since VISTA won't run those programs for which I hold the licenses).

I brought it up because... others will encounter as I have, even though I thought this prob. could be avoided. I hope to spare others some agony.

I was so hoping that VISTA would work well (new machine with its "clean" install). Some of the VISTA features, I just love. Mostly, the probs. I've encountered, so far, and with having to replace programs, are related to graphics programs.

I've also discovered that, with VISTA, and MS IE 7, screenshots are not possible. For me, that's is a big deal. *It's a work-related need, and, so, not everyone will find that it's a setback as I have.*

Maybe I look for too much, but I also am not up to shooting down the person who bought my computer - to replace the laptop that had its floppy monitor that could not be "fixed" for less than the cost of the machine. I've not breathed a word of complaint to my friend. Nor will I. It just strikes me as: so ungrateful. So... I came here to find out if, maybe, someone has encountered similarly and knows of a class action.

Evidently, others are not so very happy with VISTA either, but for different reasons, and Curious did find a class action. I predict: in the future, more suits will follow and they will be more encompassing.

No one is looking to hurt huge MS, but to find equitable remedy.

they did the same thing when they went to XP the wins 98 software didnt work, even if you went into programs properties to ignor xp most of them didnt work i have a drawer full of some good software from winds 98 that is useless, we got vista on our lap top and kids but xp on desktop still not changing the desktop,

and then if anyone have read get two gigs of mem for operating vista one works if you are not multi multi tasking, it freezes, maybe they should call the guy who created windows and ask him what they are doing wrong, now lets see that would be the guy who owns apple right???
