I finished my steroids yesterday..... I have to admit that I have felt so much better being on them even with everything that went on last week.
I was talking with a friend and she mentioned how things taste different - that is so true with me. I can't wait to have a decent cup of coffee that taste good again! What a dissappointment to get up in the morning and take that first sip of what you enjoy so much to have it taste nasty! ![]() We also talked about how the numbness has not fully gone away in my face, tongue, neck and arm. I have read many times that after a "flare" you may not get back to where you were - the sx may not fully go away?? I feel like I am being such a baby with the few sx that I do have.... I think I am hitting the "why me" stage or the change of life that woman go through? I wish I could close my eyes - open them and my life be changed.... I would be happy, respected, loved, and stress free. I know it is only a dream and won't happen but today that is how I feel.

I am so glad that you are done with the steroids. I can tell you feel better, I could hear it in your voice when we talked! It takes time to recover from a flare honey. I went for months with the eyes rolling in my head. They would start to get back to normal and then another flare would hit and affect a different part of my vision or my face . I thought I would be like that forever but it always got back to close enough to normal to live with, or I adjusted. You DO learn to live with what happens and you ADAPT. It takes trial and error to find what works for you. You know what's happening with me now with the Tysabri. Things I never thought would be normal again are normal. I had a bunch of tests yesterday at the neuro and he was amazed at some of the things that are working for me again. I had just adapted to the loss and learned new ways of doing things. Now I re-learn to do them correctly...who knew ![]() I'm glad you feel better. Have some coffee! ![]()

So glad you are feeling better, better being a word that seems to have different meanings now that we have MS.
From experience I can tell you that the symptoms that have persisted even after the 3 days of steroids may go away or fade more than they have now. No guarantees but there never is with this dang disease. Of course you knew about the no guarantee rule when you signed up for this, right? Nope, I bet you were like me, didn't sign up but was drafted instead. Well, one thing that is guaranteed your morning coffee will soon taste good again. I pray each day you feel better and better.

Good morning Char! Congrats on finishing your round or roids! Hopefully that cup of coffee will taste better again! That is what I am looking forward to!
You do sound happier and healthier than a few weeks ago when we talked. I know it is hard thinking that things will never be "normal" again but you just have a new normal. It has taken me a while to think that way but it gets me through the day. You are like me, you are constantly on the go and adding things to your "list". I just kept going and it would catch up to me. I FINALLY learned that I need to listen to my new normal and it did help. It does take time to adjust to the new life that you have so luckily won ![]() Hope you have a good day! ![]()

Good girl! You'll keep getting benefits from the roids for a bit yet, so don't lose hope.
FYI: You ARE loved AND respected. ![]()

I also had a horrid taste left in my mouth the two times I had steroid treatments. They revved me up to 200 rpm and I lost weight on them. ![]() You are more loved and respected than you realize Sweetie! Now turn that frown upside down! ![]() Quote:

How long are you into this relapse, yb?
I have been paralyzed; numb in just the face/mouth/tongue; numb from head to toe; numb just on the right side; and numb just in the lower 2/3. Every time, no matter how much (or little) numbness I had, I was scared. A couple of times I was sure I just wasn't going to come out of it "this time", cause it didn't follow the same pattern. Normally, it takes 10 - 12 weeks to escalate (6 weeks) and recover (6 weeks). . . BUT then sometimes, within a few weeks of completing that recovery, it starts all over again somewhere else for another 10 - 12 weeks. I have learned to rest, pace myself, treat fever and infections . . . and WAIT for that 12 weeks to be over to guage how much I will recover. I have been left with very little permanent damage each time, and I hope you have the same luck. Cherie

Good to hear your still feeling well Char. When Jim did steroids he felt good for a while but some symptoms are just symptoms and go away in time. Some may stay but as RW said, you adapt to them. And yes, close those eyes and see the dream you have. Open them and see you are loved and respected by many here.
