It is(3a.m. And I can't sleep because bed is a nightmare. I fall asleep and am awakened by violent jerks, one after the other. It goes on for hours then mysteriously disappears. I have taken all the meds I can and afraid to take more. Nothing stops this agony except getting up and doing something like writing this. Is there anybody out there who has this? My neurologist has kind of given up on me and I don't know where to turn. I am strong but this is slowly killing me. So tired.

Im sorry it is hard to be alone and in pain seems to make things worse when nobody is next to you to provide comfort. When you said violent jerks are u talking about alot of muscle twiches?? Where in arms legs ?? I have had neck surgery and get alot of muscle twiches and i posted about it to this board and one the the ladies Mrs.D --is brillant --told me about magesium supplemnts i still get them but a few weeks of being on magnesium has lessend the severity. Dont give up until u get your problems resolved . If your DR isnt helping get another and another ---there our reasons I believe our bodys tell us something isnt righ--t its a matter of finding the right dr and treament plan. Wishing you the best. |

Why not do an experiment. Before you go to bed at night, take some warm warm water. Add a cupful of Epsom Salts (It's FULL of magnesium). It will get into your body fast because the bottom of your feet have LARGE pores. Soak in the warm water (watch tv or something) for about 20 minutes. See what happens. It's great for muscle spasms. let us know your results. Take care, Melody

This may not be helpful at all but I knew someone who had muscle spasms while in bed. I know they weren't as violent as yours, but...
Anyways, after a visit to a doctor he was told his potassium was pretty low. On top of taking some sort of potassium supplement, he would eat a couple of bananas an hour or so before going to bed. It seemed to help him a great deal. |

I am so sorry you are going thru this. I know how difficult it is, as I used to have the violent jerks, uncontrollable spasms, and electric shocks going thru my body. I have RSD. When did this start? Was it after an injury or surgery? What medications are you on? If your neuro has given up, find another, until you find someone who finds out what is going on. Do you have other symptoms? Many with nerve symptoms are on meds like neurotin or lyrica, anti-depressants, sleep meds, anti-anxiety meds, muscle relaxers, supplements. I use epsom salts. You need to find what is behind this!!! Jump around to the different forums-keep searching for answers and DON'T GIVE UP!!!! Keep a diary of your symptoms-what is going on with you. Keep of record of all your tests including blood work and compare them. Get a file folder. I'm a big believer in taking charge of our health. Some drs. give up. Hope this helps take care, loretta |
