Last night I did not take any meds that put me into sleep most of the night as having an EEG done. I thought this was easing off but was very pronounced last night. I will wake up and have the tingling in my back, head, and vibrations. I think too waves of nerve sensation. This all scares me as I don't know how I went from this in my feet to all over --I don't want to start burning... I am getting little spots in different places that burn come and go. I know nerves are active at night but is this kind of what others feel at night -in the middle of the night where this affects the whole body?

Night is worse for anything, common colds to PN seems it is always worse at night.
It is 10 degrees outside and I keep it 62, chilly, in my house for my feet and I STILL have to sleep with a fan blowing cold air on my feet. I freeze from the ankles up huddled under blankets but my feet have not been under a blanket in a year. |

It's different for everyone. I don't have much trouble at night, except my hip & shoulder slightly from the pressure. My main problems are pressure on my feet & buttocks, so when I'm lying on a soft bed, I'm happy. I am sad for you folks that can't really get away from the pain.

Yes, I can tell you, this is how it is, and it could get worse. What you are describing is what I have in a way. Do you have a real diagnosis yet? Do you know the underlying cause for the neuropathy? Did you have the bloodtests for the neuropathy panel usually ordered? For me, It started out 2 years ago with fine vibration all over body , especially in the evening and at night. Then slowly over a few months, the symptoms went to intense burning. The burning is now basically all over the body, feet, hands, fore arms, back , face nose and scalp. To describe the burning I would say it feels the way one might feel if one has an open sore somewhere on the skin surface, and then salt is being pored in to it, or perhaps like Hydroperoxide ( what you use for cleaning open wounds) This is the symptoms og Small Fiber Neuropathy. I take Amitripthylline, Lyrica for the nerve pain, plus a compound prescription cream made out of Ketamine 10 %, Lidocaine 10 % and Gabapentin 5 %. The cream is effective, I use it 3 times daily. But the meds overall is not always holding the pain away. The neuropathy flares up more sometimes. I hope you will get some answers to your diagnostic questions soon. And I hope you get some good treatment. I hope also, that you have a real good doctor, a good neuromuscular neurologist specializing in neuropathy. |

In addition to the Gabapentin, I also use a compounding cream that consists of Ketamine, Clonidine, Baclofen and Gabapentin. It helps me too, but of course, just like all other PN medications, not completely. But at least it lessens the prickly sensations from the clothing materials. Your sensation is similar to mine. The closest way i describe is like putting salt in an open wound but mine is all over my legs. |

Uglogirl, do you take a hot or warm epsom bath? I use to LOVE taking hot baths with epsom. I would even settle for luke warm, but even showers have to be fast for me as hot/warm water cause my feet to start burning. Epsom really does feel great but taking a cool bath is not exciting to me when I sit around with cold air blowing on my feet all the time. When I do give in to my love of hot baths, I sit with my feet hung on edge with a battery fan blowing on my feet while everything else sumberges into hot oblivion. But its weird, hot on one end cold on the other.
![]() I am just wondering if the hot/warm water does not bother you??? Also, my best relief for burning is biofreeze then stick my feet in front of a fan. I even have a portable one that fits in my purse. Also, dealing with inflamation seems to help, currently zyflamend and curcumin are definately helping. Well, actually, I just started the curcumin, but the zyflamend is definately helping the burn to be less severe. |

Some night I get the buzzing in the legs. I also get the feeling that the world is tilting from my lower body.
Unlike most My legs like the heat wave we have been having over here. If aircon is on I want to cover my legs up as they feel frozen. Other thing I have noticed is I sleep substantially less. |
