A friend on another group I'm a member sent this thru. I've been dosing with Iodine for some yrs now. I take 2-5 drops of Iosol in distilled water daily. This view talks about iodine and nerves. Interesting, so thought I'd post. Don't know if iodine has been talked about here over the years.
Personally, when I've skipped my iodine for whatever reason, I end up with breast pain/tenderness. I just don't miss a day now. https://www.jackkruse.com/what-is-pe...al-neuropathy/ |

It seems to me that he is speaking more of Iodine when the neuropathy is a result of low thyroid. That's not the case for everyone. Looks like he has a list of possible reasons. Low thyroid being one, and treating it with Iodine supplementation a possible course of action. It would be pretty dangerous for him to assume that everyone with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy having low iodine. Especially when you can be easily tested for low iodine. I wouldn't begin Iodine supplementation without talking to a endocrinologist. I do agree with a lot of what he says. He also gives a timetable for nerve repair and speaks as if the condition isn't permanent. Which is very uplifting in theory but if the underlying cause is not found neuropathy is not going to go away, and even when the cause is found it usually merely be stopped from progression and not reversed.

Bringing this up again. Talking to some other folks about soy consumption and how much the japanese consume AND how much iodine they consume. Wonder how much neuropathy these people have.
Our soy world in the U.S. is primarily GMO produced soy. And all the fluoride consumed pulls iodine from our bodies. I still dose with my Iosol daily. And avoid soy. So much info on soy consumption and thyroid dsyfunction. Maybe the Japanese balance things out with their soy and iodine consumption. Also wonder if joint replacements are many in Japan. I am forever questioning our health system. |

Caroline it is my understanding from things I've read, people I've talked to and documentaries I've seen that Japanese people don't consume any where near as much soy as we think. If I can find any articles I'll pass them your way.

Pinky, I had read or heard years ago that soy for the japanese is a condiment...others will say no, it's a main dish...I don't know. I know miso is soy based or soy floating in the broth. If they do consume high soy it's not GMO...I know they are big on the soybeans. But they do consume high iodine vs the U.S. They are huge fish people and sea kelps and now there is so much damage from the Fukashima radiation mess which I read more and more that all that radiation is in our oceans, Pacific for sure.
When I buy fresh fish, it's from alaskan waters and mostly salmon and ling cod when I'm in the mood for cod. But I can't imagine not dosing from iodine, I started low and still don't take a lot...the normal dose I've read here is 10-12mg daily. I take close to 8mg daily. Just the breast health is so major. |

This article explains iodine quite well. Check out the doses given...this is very important:

Here are some "facts" about iodine consumption in Japan. Of course, it can vary as the article mentions. And health facts about people in that part of the world.
http://thyroidresearchjournal.biomed...1756-6614-4-14 The article from oregonstate, talks about the U.S. RDA 150mcg...which in my mind is very LOW. Right now I am dosing with 1830mcg (drop of Iosol) and usually about 3 drops per day in half glass of water. I feel fine. Also, like for so much, our bodyweight needs to be taken into account. My neighbor could not get her body temp up from 95something and Dr. Williams in one of his books talks about this and that taking 4 drops per day can bring up your temp...it has for her...she took 4 drops for a while and now backed down to 1-2 drops per day. She was able to get up to 97+. On the U.S. RDA, they come in very low on everything. Thinking about the Vit D deficiency that came to the forefront in the last 10 yrs (for me anyway) the RDA is very low on Vit D. And to this time, many are very low in Vit D and especially older folks. Dr. Williams was writing about Vit D deficiency for 25 yrs and no one was listening. I wasn't, never thought I was deficient. He's the one that brought the Iodine issue to my eyes. |
