I'm taking 3 pills, 100mg's each of CoQ10. Would I take all three with breakfast or maybe two for breakfast and one for lunch?
Also I'm taking 3 pills, 400mg's of Qcetyl L-Carnitine. Would I take all three with breakfast or maybe two for breakfast and one for lunch? Thanks

Hi Marty, I'm just curious. I see you have been ideopathic for 12 years? How did your PN start and what parts of the body are affected? Any theories? I am also trying to get my supplement regime straightened out... |

I have tried supplements before but not long enough and I didn't put my all into it like my overall health of exercise, food, supplements, weight, fun etc.. So I'm going to give it 100 percent for one year to see if it's possible to make gains after so many years. My history is long and complicated but I will be to the point. 13 years ago I had to change positions with the company and so I went from sitting all day to standing all day. - First my arches started to burn while standing for long periods. Went to a Podiatrist because I have problematic feet anyway and my thought was it was a mechanical thing. Since then I've had 3 surgeries on my feet. 2 were tarsal tunnel syndrome releases and one for a heel spur all of which had nothing to do with my problematic feet and everything to do with PN. If you do a search on the various message boards you will find many who have had TTS release performed in an effort to relief the pain and burning. Unfortunatly for me one of the realease triggered RLDS and it taken 8 years for me to get this under control. - Second dull aching pain in my feet that radiated up my legs. After the arches started to burn I started to get this and it has increased. It's a hard thing to deal with. Then the pain spread to my legs and to what feels like my leg bones. - Third the burning spread from my feet to my legs up to my groin. - Forth the buring spread to my hands and face. (Not bad enough yet to cause me to much grief but it's increasing with time). - Fith twitching mussles all over but not often enough to be to much of a bother. (I have to say though when this started in my legs and arms it was most disconcerning) I freaked out! Now I have come to live with it knowing the pain and burning is a much harder thing to deal with. - Sixth creepy crawly feelings. - Seven total fatigue. I have no theories at all.I tell folks that ask that I must have been poisoned or eat lead as a kid but really I don't have a clue. Well I kind of take that back. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I drank tons (two 64ounes mugs a day) of diet coke and for a really long time. Like 20 years. It's the only thing I can think of. All that aspartame or something. Kind of like alcohol would do, cant be good for you. That's all I've done. No drugs, coffee, tea, cigarettes or anything. Maybe with all that coke in me all the time I couldn't absorb correctly. I wonder but really wouldn't say it's my theory. I guess it could be gluten but I haven't been tested. I'm really trying hard to be gluten free but it's really hard. To be a man that works means I have to make all my own gluten free food. All this is really expensive too. (That's probably why I gave up before, money). Your spouse has to be behind you 100% because it's a big burden. Didn't feel like I wanted to put her through it so I have just suffered.

Marty what makes you not get tested for gluten? It could really give you some direction. I can imagine it would be hard to keep this type of diet but if you have gluten intolerance and you even eat a little it can cause health issues. Your gp or any doc can at least be a starting point and run bloodwork. Marty are you on any meds?
Hope I am sorry you have been feeling down. it can be hard to stick to a health path when that happens. I know depression are you seeing anyone for that? You may want to as it may assist in everything. If you want an email buddy I am here too. |

Thanks daniella. It's been frustrating because I worked so hard to lose a great deal of weight in 2005. I've now gained half of it back, so I am putting on the breaks and getting serious about this. I have every intention of losing the weight again and getting healthy. Thanks for the offer of support, I might take you up on that. ![]() |

He will be taking it home with him when he leaves me here, so he can work a bit more and earn more vacation. For the carnitine...take that in 3 doses during the day. There is a limit on how much the intestine will absorb at a time.So if you take them all at once some will be wasted. The CoQ-10 does not have that effect that I know of. Is this the one with Bioperine added? If so for 3 caps you will get 15mg of Bioperine which I think is too much. Recommended max for it is 10mg/day. Instead take just one of the CoQ-10 100mg with Bioperine and when you use them up, buy another brand that is gel enhanced instead, and then you can take 300mg at once.

I thought with most vitamins etc it is good to split the dose. I usually follow what is on the bottle but like for calcium etc.
Marty I am so sorry and I hear what you are saying but you deserve to be well. Your family I am sure understand that you did not choose to have health problems. I understand if finance wise you just can't but if there is any way I think you should think about it. Would it not be nice to have something you could change to make you well like gluten for ex. In the long run it would save money. Hope as a person who has had anorexia for years on and off and had a little relapse but doing well in recovery again I know the battle to remain healthy through the depression etc. I guess for me everyday when I want to feel numb or cope with food things I remind myself that I don't want more health problems and that there are many things I can't control with health but many like eating I can. It is very hard though but reaching out, trying to find hobbies I can do,etc sometimes helps. I truly mean that I am here anytime just a pm or email away. |
