Hello Debra,
I've had RSD/TOS since 83. Rsd went full body about 8 years later, which, it took 7 years for a diagnoses!! Imagine that? I was in a second accident, neither my fault. Now a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), four herniated discs. I've had a TENS unit, and, I found it to work on 'moderate' pain. It's really just a blocker, that is to 'fool' your system to feel the TENS, rather than pain. I've been on methadone for 20 years, cymbalta, valium, zanaflex, Lidocaine patches, and imetrex for migraine. This is the way it usually goes. When we find a knowledgable doctor, we get put on a 'cocktail' specific to our own symptoms. And, if you must teach your doctor, that's a problem on top. How long have you had your Doctor? Like him? Is he knowledgable in RSD? If not, speak up. Go to rsdsa.org do a search for a doctor. by zip code. Join there too. I've lost, literally millions to this disease, and the brain injury, but the loss of family, and those things are priceless. I know loss, but I also know faith! Keep that! We're all here to help you! Don't be afraid to PM me... Yer new friend, Pete asb |

Does your dr know the meds aren't helping and lack of sleep is a big problem?
I think most with any kind of chronic pain end up with having a long acting or time release meds for base pain relief, then a quick acting med for flare ups, and usually an anti depressant {also works with pain meds for better results} and even a sleep help med. Sleep is very important for the body! If your dr doesn't seem to understand all this or be open to helping you , might be time to find a better one.

Check with your doctor first but i take Benedryl to go to sleep usually the dose is 2 and I will take 3 and sleep pretty well.
Ambien stopped working for me. I have oversactive bladder issues too so sometimes i am up because of that but the benedryl seems to help that too. On a different post someone said that beneryl helped their burning pain feeling...it hasnt helped me in that area that i have noticed. Blessings Lori Quote:
