Good morning everyone!
Sox - I am glad to hear DS7 is doing well. Good luck with the big 5-0 birthday party for your DH - that's a lot of people. I am also glad to hear your dad is doing so well. Barb - It is hard to work when it is so nice outside. Heck, the students can wait. I am sure many of them won't mind too much.:p Pam - Thanks for the reminder. I remember when the kids were little, every October we went over that as well as our fire escape routes. In my apartment they came every October to check the fire alarms and the fire extinguishers. I am sorry to hear about your friends. Sandy - What a way to wake up in the morning! Glad your mom is enjoying herself. Regardless of the reason, it is far better to see her giggling and such than miserable. Also glad Jim is starting to feel better. Wiz - Good luck with your Spanish homework. Debbie - How scary! Take care of yourself! Hi everyone else! Hope you all are doing well and that everyone has a good day today!:grouphug: |
Hello all...another beautiful day!!:)
Pam, thanks for reminding us...sorry to hear you lost friends because of fire... Sox, so glad to hear DS7 is doing better...that's wonderful!! Hope your DH enjoys his 50th bday bash...and that you don't overdo it!! Sandy, glad the deck is finally getting done...we cleaned out all of our water plants from the pond last week...and put a new pump in. The water seems to be a bit clearer now that the water's moving along again...I'm tired of cleaning the leaves out (they get in there even though we have netting over each pond). Today I ran out back and put up the giant umbrella over the pond...a hawk was circling overhead, and I'm not sure if they eat fish or not...he went away once he couldn't see it anymore. I broke down and got a leaf blower out to clean up the lawn this morning...I always loved raking, but it takes too much out of me. I did have to rake the front, due to all of the honey locust pods on the lawn...so I got at least 2 days of exercise this morning:D I have no UTI!! Finally, after almost a month!! So that is not the explanation for the fatigue and vision thingies that are going on...and something else crept up on Saturday night...usually my toes feel as if they have sox on them. They've been that way for 5 years now. On Saturday night both feet felt that way from toe to heel, and stayed that way until I fell asleep. The feeling was back to normal the next morning... But today I haven't had that crushing fatigue at all, even though I had a crummy night's sleep. I'm not calling the neuro yet...I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow...and the next day... Wiz, I put my Pearl Jam CD on loud which seems to help me wake up a bit. No talk radio for me...it makes me too upset... I can't wait until the elections are over...after the Supreme Court allowed organizations to post ads on media, it's been worse than past elections. Makes me so mad:mad::mad: Enough...hope everyone has a great Monday afternoon/evening!!:) |
Sox, it does my heart good to know that your little guy is doing so well. I'm so happy he's found his joy again and can enjoy life.
Nothing much new to report from my little corner of the world. Oldest DS is back in VA again training. He will be gone for four weeks this time! He calls every few days to let us know what's going on. I'm wondering if he's going to have to move there.....or DC, perhaps? Please, not out of the country!! He's lovin' his job, though. Gotta get busy.....I'm cooking today to freeze some things. I'm also going to try my hand at making yogurt. Not too sure how that will go......wish me luck! :grouphug: to everyone! |
Glad to see so many posts today.
soxmom -- I am so glad that your little boy is doing better!!! I will be glad when the election is over too. Did the Political Scientist just say that:rolleyes:? I am rather worried about the governor's race in our state. One candidate is incompetent and the other one is just plain scary. So if you live in Illinois and you are going to vote for the scary one, could you please just stay home.;):o Seriously, I am just being self interested here, but very worried about how the election results may affect funding for education (which has already been seriously cut) and my pension. Faculty that are retired and living in other states are being told by their doctors and hospitals that they must pay all of their own medical bills or be sued. They are starting to tell chairs here that they have to tell some faculty members that they will not be rehired next year. These are faculty members who only have a master’s degree and that are instructors – not tenure track or tenured professors -- the ones who are the lowest paid. They are considered temporary faculty. We have two and one is not being rehired next year. She has less seniority than the other instructor. She has taught introductory classes for us for the past three years and does a great job. It looks like almost every department is losing at least one instructor. |
Barb, I missed the debate last night and haven't found a video on it. But did you hear that the scary one had no idea how our Medicaid system works? 10% across the board.

Evening everyone...
DH is bowling tonight and I'm about to hit the hay... Brady is the "other" candidate that is so conservative. He wants to cut education and social programs to help the state get out of trouble...but did I hear anything about cutting elected state officials' pay, pension or stipends? Noooo... What makes me more worried is his feelings that abortion should be illegal for all situations, including rape/incest. I can't imagine much worse than a young pre teen being made to carry her father or uncle's baby to term...:( Anyway...sad news in Naperville...a couple of families were camping and the whole group was out playing "flashlight tag" in the dark in the forest preserve...a 2,000 lb branch fell 40 feet down from a tree and fell on a 16 year old and a younger boy...the older boy died today...parents donated as many organs as they could so that someone else's life could be saved by their son...so sad...the younger boy will survive... Hope everyone kisses their loved ones good night...and sends a prayer of gratitude... |
I heard that Debbie and NIU has a student missing now. So sad, I hope they find her. Prayers for both families. Another student is missing from Northwestern too and they are scouring Lake Michigan. No helicopters yet, wonder if they are thinking it's a prank? They are waiting to find out who called it in.
Anyway, I will be so glad when this election is over. I am sick of hearing the attack ads and want to move past it all. I was actually called a "plant" by Brady's supporters because I challenged him and asked questions. I told them they are all paranoid if someone can't come in and ask questions. Sorry I wasn't praising the almighty one. I voted already and it wasn't for Brady. His views and moral beliefs are way to intertwined in his agenda. Oh and now he says he wont support animal gas chambers? Funny how that flip flop happened right before election. Mom was ornery yesterday and is now mad at her roommate. She claims her roommate keeps her up and her son brings in alcohol for her. The lady is bedridden! I think maybe the lady told mom off or something and well, mom now is reacting mad rather than get along. This is the dementia side, always up and down. But mom was like that before so the dementia just intensifies it. Whenever she had an argument with someone she would just run off and never talk to them again. It could also be mom is making this up in her head and believes it? :( Anyway hope everyone is feeling well. |
Good morning!
Not sure what I am going to do today. I am so ticked off at the MS right now! Yesterday, I got my fight on and tried to beat it but it didn't work. Once again, today, my legs don't want to work right and my foot is still stuck in a semi-flexed position, been that way since Saturday, as well as numbness and shocks and spasms from my feet up to my butt. UGH! While I have things going on in both legs, it's my right foot that is stuck so driving is out of the question right now. And, I need to get over to my parents as my dad is not well at all.:( My mom is taking him in for some blood tests and from there they will decide what to do (hospital ??). He is really weak. Most of the time I just deal with the MS symptoms but yesterday I had enough and today I am just ticked at it. I'm stuck! (Sorry for the little vent.:o) I think I'll get my paints out and work on some paintings while I wait to hear from DD20 as well as my mom. That always helps me get in to that calm and serene place.;) Hope everyone has a great day!:grouphug: |
 Tricia  I've been getting ticked off at the MS lately, too. But, sadly, all that does is just make it worse....stresses us out and intensifies the sx. Vicious cycle. I hope your Dad can get comfortable and feel better. I know this is weighing heavy on your heart. You're all in my prayers. :smileypray:
I've been going through a box that contains old pictures of family. Some of the pics are faded and torn, some are okay. Lots are old Polaroid instant prints......from the 70's!? I haven't seen those kinds of pics in ages. I just mailed some off to my cousin in NC. I found some of her Mom and Dad and even some of her when she was 12 years old! There is a big apartment fire not too far away from me this morning. The news just reported that several cars have been burned in this, too. Scary! I heard the sirens a couple of hours ago and heard more just a little bit ago. Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. It's beautiful here. :grouphug: |
