Yeah Sarah!!! Congratulations. That will be exciting and a nice change for you. I wish you the best of luck.

SandyC 04-08-2008 08:17 PM

Sarah!!!!!! Congrats girl! I know this is going to be a great thing for you! Hey, can I come and get a Wally World discount? lol

Now, about that weather. I am sick of this whole dern thing. I went out to check the mail and I was poured on. It's like some angel up in heaven played a funny on me. Just as I stepped outside...downpour and cold air. YUCK! Much better than snow though.

Oh, I talked to Renee and hubby is continuing to improve. She may be on later to fill you in on what is going on. If not, I'll update in the morning. Nite all! Hubby is calling...whoohoo!

weegot5kiz 04-08-2008 08:37 PM

congrats Sarah, on the new job,

yeah Sandy I saw that about the snow, I am just ignoring it completly, this way it will not show up, yep thats how to handle it:rolleyes:

happy evening all

peace

Vonn07 04-08-2008 08:56 PM

YEAH, SARAH .... I KNOW WHERE WAL-MART IS .. (the one in Escy, right?)

we got snow ... suppose to get almost 8 inches .. no kidding ... well, guess I better go and take down the easter bunny and put the snowman back up ..

guess summer is over already .. whew! made it!

tkrik 04-08-2008 09:08 PM

LOL Vonn. That was good. I am glad you enjoyed all of what 5 minutes of summer. LOL.

CayoKay 04-08-2008 09:37 PM

hiya all!

yo, Finny, Sarah, Greta, Sandy, Barb, NaeNae, Anne, TK, Vonn, and all the great folks here in Insights.

I'm just cruisin' along... makin' the best of my day.

I was supposed to go to the capitol for my VISA renewal today, but...

woke up at 3 am with hideous ZINGER cramps in my right foot.

I couldn't go back to sleep, and when it was time to leave at 7 am, I said "Let's do it tomorrow, honey? I just can't today."

then, I did my chores, and went back to bed.

when I woke up in the afternoon, I was drenched and sticky (hot flashes), so I took a cool shower, and then...

I got the scissors and WHACKED off my hair.

now I have a "little boy haircut" lol, almost a butch!

but I feel a lot cooler, and my head feels lighter.

it's only 8:30 pm, but I'm gonna hit the sack, and hope all goes well tomorrow.

it's a big day, waiting in long lines (I bring a tiny folding camp stool) and I also have to go to the US Embassy, to register for an overseas absentee ballot for the upcoming presidential election.

plus, I have to make arrangements for the DIRECT DEPOSIT of my SSDI to a foreign country, and that has to be done through the embassy also.

that couldn't be done until I got my permanent residency status...

at LEAST the embassy building has air conditioning.

but... going there feels CREEPY... it's like, a FORTRESS, within a walled compound.

last time I was there, a few months ago (to get extra pages for my passport - it was totally filled with monthly visitor VISA stamps) and GUESS what?

they CONFISCATED my little collapsible umbrella at the entrance.

and I'm all: "WHAT? You think it's some kind of umbrella of mass destruction?"

"Do I look like James Bond?"

:D:eek::D

prettypearlgirl 04-09-2008 12:03 AM

Hi Everyone!!! I'm missing all of you and can't keep up with everything going on!!! I promise to get caught up soon. Really;):D

Carolyn:hug:

SandyC 04-09-2008 12:29 AM

Ok, since Renee didn't come on to update, I will do it. Her hubby is doing a bit better today. If his enzymes keep going down they will schedule his surgery for this Friday while he's in the hospital. If all goes well he'll possibly come home on Saturday!!!! The prayers are working so please keep them coming!

tkrik 04-09-2008 12:41 AM

Renee - That's great news! I hope this continues and hubby can come home on Saturday. That would be awesome! Keeping the prayers going for you all.

Sandy, again, thanks for the update.

FinLady 04-09-2008 08:06 AM

Sarah, congrats! Really hope this new gig works out for you.

Sandy, Thanks tons for the updates. I think we're starting to get your rain where I am.

Barb, I hope they get to the bottom of what's happening with Nicco. I never like to hear of little ones being hurt. :(

Renee, Prayers still heading your way. Glad to hear hubby is improving. :hug:

~~~~~~
I am so glad I'm off from work. LOL, my allergies are acting up badly today so I would've called off any way. :D At least this way, they had some warning I wasn't going to be there.
Woke up tired, probably from all the excitement yesterday. I'll probably relax today and the rest of the week should be interesting. I haven't had real time off from work in a long time. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with myself, LOL
You're going to paint another cool picture.:D That would be nice and relaxing. I hope you enjoy your day off.
~~~
OMG! It's cloudy out today.:confused: What the heck? LOL. I have my CMG this morning and then I'm coming home and sleeping. Stayed up to late last night and am feeling it this am.:(

DD16 had Pom Line try outs yesterday. They only judged those on the team to see who would come back next year. DD16 was the only one to be asked to come back today. All the others will be on the team next year. They told her that she didn't do her best and that she can do much better. She was devastated! It was an emotional evening last night, lots of tears. When DD17 came home she took her sister out to get stuff to make ice cream sundaes to help cheer her up. I hurt for her. It's so hard to see you kids so sad like that. I did try to encourage her but also have her look at what she would do if she didn't make it and how she would feel. We talked about having her go back to the professional company that she used to be in before all this Pom Line stuff. That way she can still dance and perform. I guess I'm trying to prepare her for the worst. If you can, say a quick prayer for her.

Hope you all have a good day!

how this for a graduation present from the junior classes:eek:

FinLady 04-09-2008 10:09 AM

I posted this in another thread, but I'm a little bummed right now. :( Just talked to my dad.

My stepmom, who's a pretty cool lady, is a recent survivor of breast cancer. She just had a biopsy done on her thyroid and found out it is inconclusive. Because of the past, they are going to take it out as a precaution since it wasn't totally benign. The surgery is going to be scheduled for later this month.

Ugh! After having good news yesterday at the neuro, this happens. :(

weegot5kiz 04-09-2008 11:16 AM

awe hang in there fin you have my prayers for your stepmom, for a speedy recoop

gonna be going through the wait and see with my mom and her thyroid in about a weeks time here too, not looking forward to it, so hopefully it is benign, and this will be it for her and the surgeries, :hug:

SandyC 04-09-2008 11:23 AM

Hang in there Finn. I posted on your other thread and want you to know we are here for you and your family.

TK, good luck with your testing today! Sorry I helped keep you up last night! lol

Frank, hope mom's biopsy is negative as well. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Everyone else have a great day!

tkrik 04-09-2008 12:07 PM

((((Fin and Frank)))) - I'll keep your moms as well as you both in my prayers. I'm sorry to hear about this.

weegot5kiz 04-09-2008 12:11 PM

thanks tk how are you. did you go to doc yet or is it too early, i hope your visit goes well, and hope you feel better real soon.

everyone else

peace

tkrik 04-09-2008 12:14 PM

Thanks Frank. Yes, I went and am back now. I am going to post about it in my urodynamics thread that I started a while ago. Just have to find it. How are you doing today my Flare Bro?

weegot5kiz 04-09-2008 12:23 PM

am going to rest as much as possible today and the next few days. see if I cant help this carp move on out, the first few weeks its so so, but it does get old quick. I got spoiled not having any issues of a flare, had become use to the side effects of last flare and was settle in my daily rut of life, oops

Like I said in another post or two I am 46 and still have a lot of growing to do with MS and the learning process of all the complexities of ms

take it easy today Sis:hug:

peace

FinLady 04-09-2008 02:34 PM

The sun came out for a little while today :) Went outside and did some landscaping work for about an hour. I may not be as fast as I used to, but it's great to feel like I accomplished something. Still a lot of work to do, but trying to keep my perfectionist self from stressing too much, LOL.

Maybe it's a good thing the hubby is working this week I have off. I feel more like doing things, LOL. :D

SandyC 04-09-2008 04:44 PM

Fin, lol I am like that too. If the boys are home I get nothing done. Even if we aren't doing anything! I don't get how them being home stops me from sweeping the floors or doing yard work but it does. lol

barb02 04-09-2008 06:45 PM

Finn and Frank - Hope everything goes ok for your stepmom and mother

TK - Hope you are taking it easy after your tests.

Renee -- If you have time to read this, I am sending good thoughts your way.

Not much is going on here today. Went out to lunch with a friend. I am trying to eat out less, but I am easily swayed when somone calls me up and asks if I want to meet them for lunch . At least I had a salad. My left leg and back were really bothering me this morning when I went to Wally World, but are less painful now.

We are under another flood warning and are supposed to get alot of rain tonight and some nasty storms tomorrow. I may have to cancel my dentist appointment. Shoot!:rolleyes:

tkrik 04-09-2008 06:52 PM

Sandy - that makes sense as when the boys are home you want to visit and just hang out.

But I agree with both of you as I am the same way. It makes no sense at all. DDs are in independence training though and they have to do their own chores. They will never learn otherwise. They get mad though as I like all community areas (kitchen, living room, dining, & bathroom) clean all the time and call me a clean freak. LOL. Really, I live in a 900 sq ft apt. Cleaning is not as horrid as they make it sound.

Barb - I took a great nap today. 1st one in a while. I will be praying that the rain just passes you by.

weegot5kiz 04-09-2008 09:48 PM

ok this is getting too freaky lol Sis I also napped real well today, but I know why cause i missed my steroids:pepsi: today,
took my breakfast ones then it was down hill from there or up hill cause I did get some rest,

Barb glad your leg got to feeling better than other way around, this dentist appt you seem bummed out by the chance of missing it:thud:

Renee I hope all is still going well as far as hubbies enzyme count and his planned surgery this Friday, rest easy :hug: I know at least try to

Cayo how you doing hopefully better

Fin did ya enjoy the day I sure hope so

Sarah hope work went well

Sharon lol or is it you i hope work went well lol told you two, it would take me a wee bit o time to get it correct, no you were having trouble with breathing and if i am correct on that, I hope it has gotten a bit easier by now, If I am not correct then ignore what the man behind the green screen is saying:eek:

Vonn my friend if you find time to drop in I hope you are well miss chatting with you take good care, personally i wouldn't shovel it will melt in a week or so:Slip:

Sandy and Jim howdy howdy howdy, hope all goes well in your neck of the woods

gonna go annoy folks in game room for a while:trampoline:

peace all :Head-Spin:

FinLady 04-09-2008 11:33 PM

Got some yard work done, a load of dishes and laundry, and then hubby and I went out to dinner. Tired now, but it's been a decent day. I'll probably be a lump tomorrow morning, but that's ok. :D

Vonn07 04-10-2008 03:44 AM

hey 'dudes and dudettes' ... :Excited:

well, still busy with taxes :laptop:... and school - already in the 6th week of another session .. so far strong A's in both ...but have a paper due for one and another quiz for another due by midnight sunday ... :Writting:

about the counseling job - not happening .. 'wrong' degree ... guess they don't want smart people working for the government! LOL

I got a secret .. I got a secret .. and if you're all good boys and girls today ... I'll update you after 2pm (CST) ... :Dancing-Chilli:

(no ... nothing to do with a guy .. in fact, he never called back after he said he would about going out for a drink for my birthday ... I've waited a week - and not waiting for him anymore ... moving ON) ..

and we still got snow .. in fact, got 5 more the night before ... but most of it's gone and washed the bird poop off my car anyways - that's what I get for parking under the tree! :Melting 2:

:D

if gov't actually did a good job, then nobody could complain about how bad they are!

I'll be a GOOD girl all day, awaiting your update, Von... :p

Finny, we can be LUMPS together today, okay?

hard to be BAD, when we're just quietly lumping on the couch, with a book, or the TV, eh?

NaeNae, still prayin' for your hubby.

TK, sometimes I think kids having a parent with MS is GOOD for 'em, 'cause it makes them learn how to do laundry, scrub terlets, and prepare meals... makes 'em more independent later... anyway, that's how it worked for me.

when my kids went off to college, their rooms were reasonably neat, and they ATE better than packaged RAMEN. :D

Barb, is your back better yet?

REST, Frank, REST !!

:grouphug::hug::grouphug:

I'm up at 5 am because I got no nappy yesterday, and fell asleep at 8 pm.

ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH !!!

well, at least everything's DONE, except for the property taxes, I'll do that tomorrow.

have a STELLAR day, everyone.

:winky:

NaeNae 04-10-2008 07:56 AM

Well all you prayer people, thought I'd come on and THANK YOU ALL!!! This morning hubbys enzymes had gone down to 1200....from almost 2300! They are going to do his surgery tomorrow...observes him overnight and if everything is ok they will let him come home on Saturday!!!

Thanks so much Sandy for all the phone calls and keeping people updated! My MS is on the attack now...can't feel my mouth or the whole left side of my face or neck either sets of toes or my fingers on right hand, but YAY!!!!! Hubby is on the mend!

FinLady 04-10-2008 08:24 AM

Renee, :hug: Glad to hear the good news about your hubby. Sorry to hear the stress of everything may have caused your MS to go wonky, but I am very glad your mom is in town to help. Prayers still being sent

Vonn, Kudos on the "A"s!!! :) Sorry you didn't get the job, but maybe another and better one is down the pipeline.

Kay, Yep, I'm a lump this morning, lol. coffee is barely touching how tired I am. Make room on the couch, and I'll ooze on over :D

~~~~~
Woke up a little while ago and tired, ahh the fun of the "pay to play" program. :rolleyes: I'll probably see how I feel later and try to putter around doing small things here and there.
Hope everyone has a good day
NaeNae, there's only "anecdotal" evidence to show that a serious STRESSOR precipitates flares with MS.
but I did an informal poll in my support group (a decade ago, back in the US) and it was VERY clear to us... that *everyone's* initial exacerbations were preceded by some big ol' trauma (major surgery, ski accident, car crash, big family problem, etc.)
and for many of us, a traumatic event (divorce, sick child, legal trouble, etc.) could bring on a NEW flare...
so, pretty please, with EXTRA sugar on top?
don't forget to TAKE IT EASY right now, and take good care of YOURSELF too!
promise!?!?
:grouphug:
'cause we LOVEs ya, NaeNae, and worry 'bout ya!
hey, baby, we'll POWER Lump together!
I only got two sips of my coffee, and the goslings were chattering for their lettuce, so I went and did that, and then fed the guineas, and bunnies, and duckies, and came back, and my cup's EMPTY !!
so I ask: "Honey? What happened to my coffee? I don't REMEMBER drinking it!"
and he's all... "It was getting cold, so I drank it for ya..."
:p:(:p
*crawls over to PLOP down next to Finny on the couch*
I gotta say awake until at least noon, or my internal clock will be all cattywhumpus.
so, can somebody make me a FRESH pot?
tkrik 04-10-2008 09:58 AM
Renee - Big :hug:'s. I am glad hubby is doing better but am sad to hear that you are under attack. Hang in there. I'm saying my prayers for you all. Kay gave some great advice. Please try and follow it the best you can. Take care of yourself so that you can take care of you little ones and hubby.
Vonn - I can't wait to hear the secret. *calculating time differences* I'm sorry to hear about the job. No, it would not be good to have employees that are smarter than our political leaders. LOL.
Kay - What was hubby thinking playing that "trick" on a MSer with cog issues? LOL. That would have stumped me too.
Funny thing about kids and chores . . .DDs have been cooking the meals lately as I have been unable to do it even with there assistance. DD16 is totally in to it while DD17 is "playing" dumb.
The other night we were to have turkey (bought already cooked), mashed potatoes (bought boxed for times like this), and a salad (from the bag, just add more veggies). It was DD17's turn to cook that night. She stood in the kitchen asking a ton of questions on how to make the mashed potatoes. DD16 told her to just read the box, it was easy. She puttered around the kitchen not doing much of anything in hopes that either DD16 or myself would step in and just get it done. Well, that didn't happen.
So about 6:00 DD17 announces that she was going to the store to buy tortellini and that was what we were going to have for dinner. She was frustrated as no one stepped in to make dinner. When she got home and started making it she continued with the questions about how do I know if it's done or what temp do I put the stove on, etc. She had to make that last attempt to get some one to do it for her. It didn't work. The only help that she got was me pointing out her manipulative behavior as well as the fact that some day she will have to do this on her own. Of course DD16 chimed in and told her sister that she will not go over and cook every night for her. LOL.
Nothing to update here. Same 'ole, same 'ole.
weegot5kiz 04-10-2008 11:25 AM
:Wave-Hello: good morning everyone
Renee I am glad the surgery is still a go for hubby, now you must rest, i am flairing and can only imagine what you must be going through you have to get all the rest you can, so you dont do yourself in :hit-safe: please
Sandy and Jim good morning, woke to the sound of ice hitting my window at 5 am:Zzzz::Sob::thud:
Cayo and Fin happy lumping :Hum:, wasnt going to comment any further figure that spoke for itself.
:Ponder:heres a question, ok overdo it and get a bunch of stuff done and be wiped out or not getting enough done yet not wiped out the next day, i tend to feel better being wiped out if I got a lot done the day b4, because i got something done, pacing ones self is all find and dandy to a degree.
guess i am just biting at the bit to get stuff done here winter is going and this flare flair phlare phlair sucketh so mucheth:Dunno:
howdy Vonn sorry the dumb male, well is dumb by nature,:thud: and did not call you back, his lost, and as for the job yes there is always a better one further on down the road
Tk how you doing, today, hopefully better:hug: was curious u mention pom poms yesterday did she get good news or did I mess that one up with my cog fog and read it wrong too:Clever: and kudos to 16 yrs old comment about not coming over to cook her dinner:Bow:
my first cup of coffee came and went with two sips:yikes: and I dont use a tea totaller type of cup I am strictly an IV coffee person, fill it up and plug it in me:trampoline:
SandyC 04-10-2008 11:37 AM
Renee, I know it's hard on you and sounds like the stress is taking it's toll. Is it possible to go see hubby once today and then you come home to rest since he's doing better? That way you'll be rested for tomorrow's surgery? I know I am mothering you but you count too and need to keep up your strength. Hugs sweetie!
MY UPDATE: Bills, sweep floors. Jim has another bacteria to contend with. Well, the same one so antibiotics once again. At least this time no fever! The doc says the body is adjusting just as it should.
Oh, and the weather sucks.
barb02 04-10-2008 11:56 AM
Hi all! Pouring down rain here -- under a flood watch until noon tomorrow. Hope the strong storms stay away. Supposed to get them tonight.
Sandy, the weather does suck!
Just taking it easy today and alternating between reading and doing some laundry. Rescheduled my dentist appointment for next week. Back, ribs, and leg are still hurting but not quite as bad. I think I am walking a tad bit better today. I actually cooked last night -- chicken enchilladas. Now I have leftovers for a few days!
Renee -- Hope all goes well tomorrow. Hopefully, this is just a pseudo flare. Try to get some rest -- I know that is easier said than done.
Hope everyone is having a decent day despite the "sucky" weather:grouphug:
FinLady 04-10-2008 12:11 PM
Kay, loved the pic of the sign!! LOL, that is exactly how I'm feeling today.
Sandy and Barb, sorry to hear about your weather in your neck of the woods. It's heading my way though. :eek:
Frank, I'm still learning the best way to get thngs done. LOL, my dad chuckled when he heard I had to learn not to push myself. He knows how stubborn I can be.
Of course, he busted out laughing when I said I needed to learn how to nap. My parents went crazy 'cuz I never took naps as a kid, LOL :D
TK, I used to do that as a teen. Wish I had listened more, 'cuz being out on one's own and learning to cook was an experience - LOL!!! Hope she gets it eventually.
Renee, hope hubby continues to improve today. :hug:
~~~~~~

Need to get a schedule regarding eating food, LOL. I have no more hunger pains, so I'm going to have to learn to eat even when I don't "feel" hungry. This getting dizzy stuff is getting old.

So much fun, LOL!

Other than that, not much else to update :)

weegot5kiz 04-10-2008 09:11 PM

lol, Frank.

there's this song my DD (16, back in '95) used to sing to me...

when I'd get all LUMPY on the couch.

she'd change the words a little... to go with my MS.

Lump sat alone in a boggy marsh,
totally emotionless except for her heart
Mud flowed up into Lump's pajamas
she totally confused all the passing pihranas

She's lump, she's lump
She's in my head
She's lump, she's lump, she's lump
She might be dead

Lump lingered last in line for brains
and the one she got was sorta MSssy and insane

(The Presidents of the USA)

genius teener DD's - gotta love 'em, for their ghastly sense of humor.

NaeNae 04-11-2008 08:02 AM

Frank & Sandy- ice yuck!

I started my self on some oral roids today trying to kick it in the pants before it gets too bad!

Surgery this afternoon, keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Kayo thanks for the new pics!

Thanks Barb,Tkirk and Jenn for all of the kind thought!

Ok Vonn you can't say you have a secret and wait this long to post it....come on!!!!!!!!!

FinLady 04-11-2008 08:28 AM

Renee, fingers and toes crossed for the surgery. :hug:

Vonn, I'm in major suspense now. Wondering what's going on with ya. ;)

~~~~~~~~~~
I'm feeling less lumpy this morning, lol, so think this is probably going to be a project day. A little bit here and a little bit there.
So just having my normal morning cup of coffee and checking in. :)
