FinLady 06-05-2008 07:39 AM

Frank, that is one smart kid you've got. You must be proud of him. :)

Totally understand being sick of docs and meds. :p Hang in there!

Kay, Loved the pic. Almost spit coffee on the computer, I was laughing so hard. :D :ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO:

~~~~~~~
Still feeling a little run down and it's supposed to be hot, hot, hot. Heat wave time right now, and I'm looking to hug the A/C the next couple of days.
I'm thinking of running to Target today to get some organization stuff to help me with my projects for the home. Will do it before noon definitely, otherwise I'd melt, LOL. :Melting 2:
hope everyone has a great day.
tkrik 06-05-2008 07:48 AM
Good morning everyone!
Fin - I'm glad you had fun yesterday visiting your old work.
Frank - That is awesome about your son. You must be so proud of him. Congratulations on doing a great job raising him.
Sandy - I don't like those machines much either. I have mine coming and am not looking forward to it. Did you hear from your son yet?
Kay - Awesome cartoon! LOL.
Kitty - I think Kay's cartoon would be equally torturous.
Hi Barb, Becky, Renee, and anyone else I missed. I hope everyone has a good day.
SandyC 06-05-2008 10:20 AM
I haven't heard from Nik yet but will call later this afternoon. He works until 6pm.
We're meeting Chris's "new girlfriend" today. Her name is Jill. She's coming out for a southern fried chicken meal. She's hispanic and her mom cooked an authentic meal for Chris so it's my turn to cook for Jill.
The house is coming along. I finished cleaning the basement and utility room yesterday. Three more garbage bags to add. I have a pile of goodwill stuff to go out this next week. My next project is getting the rest of the baseboards put in by my contractor and cleaning the garage. Then it's the shed, the dungeon of doom. lol
Aarcyn 06-05-2008 10:56 AM
I am waiting for the hot water heater guy to call to let me know when he will be coming over. It is not considered an emergency since I have cold water.
Took me a long time to clean up the area. DH had been promising to do it but never had the time. I have the time, just not the physical ability, till it was imperative.
Garage temperature was about 90 degrees.
Geez, most of the stuff should have gone in the garbage or recycler. We get boxes and paper filler every week, he just piled it on the side out of the way, until the water heater exploded and soaked the cardboard and stuffing.
I left a bunch of ladders, suitcases, etc in his spot, my passive/aggressive protest!:rolleyes:
The utilities company is giving a rebate for an energy/water saving heater. If the heater is going to break, at least it has good timing. Just uses money we do not want to spend on it.:(
Becky21 06-05-2008 03:31 PM
Ok guys,
I need some help. I have searched google till I'm blue in face and can't find 2 card games that magically disappeared from my computer!:mad:
I am trying to find the regular, old fashioned Solitaire Card game and the Golf card game. Microsoft changed Solitaire to Spider Solitaire and Golf disappeared. I started searching and find tons of games but all I want is plain old Solitaire and Golf.
I keep finding info saying Microsoft discontinued them but there has got to be a way to find them. I'm hacked off that they just changed them on my computer without letting me know.:( It must have been in an update that had a bunch of junk in it that I didn't read because I don't understand.:confused::p
This is a mission for all my board buddies to find just these 2 little desktop card games for me. Please help me.:):):) I will be forever grateful.:hug::D:hug:
SandyC 06-05-2008 03:51 PM
Becky all I could find was a freeware site that may help you get the game back. It has a download for solitaire: Solitaire and Golf solitaire
I went back to the site and got the good old time Solitaire Game back. YES!!:cool::cool: The Golf card game isn't quite the same but it's still fun.:D:D
Thanks BFF/GO:hug:
SandyC 06-05-2008 09:38 PM
Your most welcome my bff! I am happy it worked.
Frank, I spoke with Nik and gave him the low down on calling home. He said they were forced into the basement while the sirens went off. It was fun he said because they had a bowling alley in the basement. lol
Vonn, come here, whisper in my ear. I wont tell I promise.
I haven't heard from Renee yet and I didn't get her mom's cell or anything. Hopefully she'll call me tomorrow or Saturday.
Ok, I am off to watch tv with Jim. Have a good nite everyone!
Vonn07 06-05-2008 09:50 PM
hollym 06-06-2008 08:34 AM
Hi to everyone! I hope you all have a great day and weekend!
Well, Grandma and I fly out tomorrow morning, so today will be busy getting ready. We won't be back until Wednesday night. I'm hoping that is enough time to pack up everything she wants and then she can just focus on being settled in here.
It is going to be a long, exhausting trip, but needs to be done. Could any of you pray for us, please? I don't know how well I am going to handle the 6+ hour flights and then renting a car and driving 4-1/2 hours. I'm not sure I can take enough Baclofen for that! I need strength, energy, patience, and wisdom for this trip!
I didn't sleep much last night and I have so much to do today to get ready. I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed!
FinLady 06-06-2008 08:41 AM
Sandy, glad he's ok. I had to laugh at the bowling alley in the basement. I would've gotten a kick out of that too. :D
Frank, Sorry to hear you were stuck in bed. Hope you're doing better soon. :hug:
Becky, glad you got your solitaire game back. Gotta love software companies and their belief the new game is better. :rolleyes: Not always true, lol
Vonn, So the elves have decided to come inside now that the weather has warmed up? :D Hope whoever those mysterious packages are for enjoys them.
~~~~~~~~~

Good morning all :) The sun is shining and we have our first ozone alert for the year. So I am definitely staying inside today. The temps are supposed to be in the 90s here until next week. :p

Hurt my left thumb somehow yesterday. :confused: Think it's only sprained since it hurts less depending on how long I let it rest. But it is a thumb, and it's amazing how many little things we do require that part of the hand, lol.

Hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug:

FinLady 06-06-2008 08:42 AM

Holly, prayers for what you need for this trip and safe travels are on their way. :hug:

Praying for a safe, uneventful trip for you and Grandma. Enjoy the time with her. Maybe you could take some books on tape for the plane ride. She's lucky to have you and I'm sure she knows it. And....you're so fortunate to be able to spend this time with her. I miss my "Mimi" so much - she was just the bestest Grandma ever!!

SandyC 06-06-2008 11:08 AM

Hey all, I really really really need to do laundry today. lol

Holly, have a safe trip and rest as much as you need to. Grandma will understand.

Vonn07 06-06-2008 12:52 PM

hey all ... will be posting a new thread about the following:

just got my mail - received a letter from my landlady's lawyer demanding payment of what I owe ... and that I'm to call the lawyer's office to make acceptable payments ... and I'm to notify them about removing my trailer as soon as possible off the property.

the letter states that they sent me a letter back in February and that I've avoided that ... UH, never received that letter!

I'm okay - in a flare right now ... going to my doctor's appointment shortly.

thanks - need prayers to do the right thing ... and that is to get out of here! thanks!!

weegot5kiz 06-06-2008 03:09 PM

Friday night is movie night with the grandkids. We each put two DVDs in a box, shake the box up and then the youngest gets to pick a movie from the box for us to watch. We had a great night! Just bedding them down for the night. Oh the quiet.

SandyC 06-06-2008 06:53 PM

tkrik 06-06-2008 07:05 PM

Just checking in really quick. It's been a busy, hectic day and just now got a chance to say HI! I hope you all had a great day.

Vonn- I will be keeping you in my prayers!!!:hug::hug::hug: I do hope everything works out for you and you are able to get out of there soon.

Gotta run . . .going to DBF's to help with the kitchen now. Dining room is all done and painted. Yeah!!! Progress.

I hope you all have a great weekend!;)

CayoKay 06-06-2008 07:58 PM

hi Frank, yeah, we're okay... doing good, making cases and cases of mango jam, chutney, pies, and stuff... the massive rains knocked down TONS of mangoes in my orchard.

glad your test results came out good !!

our local ferry is closed due to rising water, and parts of Belize are still buried in mud and floodwaters.

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/1284/060511cak5.jpg

Jacqueline Godwin Reporting: This was the Mopan River yesterday as seen from the roadside at Succotz Village – swollen and running hard. Turbid waters forming powerful currents forced the closure of the ferry at Succotz which is tied up as the wide river pulls at the ferry cable.

http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=11367

the ferry is two blocks from my house.

the good news is (and I cried when I heard it) the little 3 yr. boy who was washed out of his daddy's frantic grip, and lost down the river was FOUND, safe, alive, and asleep on a little hillock of grass... praise God that he knew how to swim!!

Vonn, sorry about what you're going through, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sandy, thanks for keeping us updated on NaeNae.

Rose, doesn't that scratch the DVDs ??

Holly, drive safe, and have a good time.

Hi everyone, This morning, since my son hadn't done it yet, I mowed the front yard (left the back for him) with our electric mower (I can't start the gas one). I don't know how many times I had to stop to move that stupid cord. I came in & was so hot. It was 72*F when I got up. I stayed in the house all day in the a/c, except for things like taking out garbage & the dogs. My dd & I just went grocery shopping then before I came here I talked to my DH on the phone...for about 20 min. One thing we talked about was the checks that came in the mail. I have to pay the one, next week. He usually does them but for now it's my turn.

ewizabeth 06-06-2008 10:27 PM

Hi all,

I had a good day yesterday, day after my infusion. Today I was tired. Rocky (our cuddle-bug cat, was howling at 6am to bring up a hairball and it disturbed my sleep. :cool: Work was only mildly stressful today and I'm tired tonight. I hope to sleep late tomorrow and I need to exercise. I'm vegging too often lately. :cool:

I'm going to try to help DH with the mowing tomorrow, I want to do the trim work with the push mower. If I do, I'll need to wear my cooling vest. Wish me luck with that.

So, I need to sleep, exercise and do a few chores this weekend, and that's about it. What an exciting life I lead. :rolleyes:

SandyC 06-07-2008 01:03 AM

Renee called me today. They made it back to Arkansas yesterday. She was able to get in to see her lawyer face to face today. Her husband apparently established Arkansas residence a while ago. He also had a list of all their household possessions sent to her lawyer with marks next to what he wanted. :rolleyes: This guy had been planning this for awhile. The lawyer is on it and will do what it takes to make sure Renee isn't done wrong.

I didn't get a chance to call her back tonight because I was caught up in stuff here at home. I will call her tomorrow. Monday is the divorce hearing. :(

Please keep her in your prayers. :hug:

Vonn07 06-07-2008 05:39 AM

hey all ..

hope everyone has a good and productive weekend ...

plan to continue packing ... brought another load of goodies to the thrift shop yesterday before the doctor appt.

after the appt, I stopped to pick up some groceries - and the power went out at 5pm!! I only was getting 3 things ... of course, everything is electronic, so the cash was locked! I had enough $$ to help someone break down a $5 for them to have exact change, and I had enough left for my things $4.55 ...

and I saw a big black bear just off the highway, I stopped the car right in front of him - he was only 10-12 feet away from me! sorry - didn't have my camera with me ... the funny part, he was actually crossing at the crosswalk that the county had put in for ATVs!!

Roseblue 06-07-2008 05:54 AM

Weekends are fun around here and relaxing as I don't like shopping at the weekend, town is too busy. Grandkids go home at two and I'll chill out on computer and then fix myself some dinner.

Kitty 06-07-2008 08:12 AM

Mornin' everyone! It's going to be a scorcher here today - supposed to be in the upper 90's.

Tricia, I know what you're thinking......it's 100+ where you are!! But yours is a dry heat...:rolleyes:

I've got to go to the grocery store today and I am dreading it. The heat will wilt me and make me weak and dizzy. The total $$ I will spend will make me cry!! :(

I'm going to ask my son to drive me to the store and then come back and get me so I won't have to be out in the hot humidity. We only live 1/2 mile from the Publix so he can either come back home or follow me around the store.

Other than that I will be inside where it's cool. I've started cleaning out some dresser drawers and closets. Just tackling one or two drawers a day and shredding anything I don't need that has personal info on it. It gives me something to do and is productive in the long run.

I've already started on one of the three books I got so I will probably do alot of reading this weekend, too.

Ya'll have a great weekend! :)

SandyC 06-07-2008 10:13 AM

Finishing up laundry today. I am sitting here having my coffee waiting for the freezer repair man to bring the new freezer thingy. It better work!

Kitty, do what I do girl. Make a list and send your son to do the shopping. Nik is really good at it and saves me money. I taught him well. lol

That's because they don't want to deal with choosing the exact product for the coupon and then organize them for the cashier. lmao

lor 06-07-2008 10:36 AM

I'm just sitting here alone watching "Rain Man" & on the computer. My kids are at work. (I don't know what to defrost for dinner. I don't know how many will be here). My dh is outa town but it's only been 5 days, he comes home for the weekend on June 20. I filled out an application for a job, I just need to get it back to them. Some may know me & might know I have epilepsy, and I can't drive. But at least I have air conditioning, it's supposed to be 93* or so today. Have a good day you guys.

Bird and I were just talking about that last night. She was telling me it was 106 there!!! 106 with humidity is not like 106 without. I would take the 106 without any day. We also have a larger temp drop in the evenings. Our mornings and late evenings are in the upper 60's (I think). It is cool enough to still do things outside in the a.m.

I understand the weakness thing too. This morning I went to make coffee and didn't have any.:eek::eek: So I decided I'd try walking to the store which is about 1 mile round trip. In the shade there was a nice breeze but when I got to the sunny part I started heating up and getting weak so I turned around and took the car. The only shade I have is from the buildings. Once I am out of the complex it is all sun.

I did that with DDs once. DD18 was in a grumpy mood and the 2 girls ended up arguing at the store. I made a list of what we needed but DD16 had a better idea of things that I left off the list. DD18, being grumpy, yelled at DD16 and said that she couldn't get it because it wasn't on the list. For the 1st time ever DD18 went only by the list. Needless to say, I had to go back out and get the things I had forgotten to put on the list. LOL

I sent DD16 to the store the other day with a list (I was in the middle of typing a report and she was bored). Now that she has her license she can go do it without waiting on me. She loved it. She was thrilled that she saved $50. She asked if she can do the shopping from now on. This girl gets a kick out of saving money.

I didn't go to DBF's last evening. MS fatigue creeped up on me and I was zonked by 6:00 or so. I was in bed by 9!

I hope you all have a great day!
