Well the bbq didn't work out. Nik decided to show up at 4pm with no meat. I guess the girl he was camping with froze up his brain. We were or thought he was picking up meat and stuff for the bbq. So, we had Subway. It's OK, it's healthy. haha

lor 06-15-2008 07:25 PM

Oh poop :( Sorry about that Sandy

because along with the "difficult" things, there's incredible beauty!

there's the most UNBELIEVABLE amount of incredibly gorgeous birds and butterflies.

there's sunsets to make you cry.

there's a wide lazy unpolluted river that flows nearby, and the constant song of critters, cicadas, frogs, crickets, and the birds NEVER stop singing all day...

there's flocks of parakeets that zoom through squawking, and chacalakas that chatter, and monkeys that toss fruit down from the trees.

there's Agouti and Anteaters, and Coatimundi galore...

there's massive Maya ruins to climb (one in walking distance of my house, Xunantunich, which means Stone Lady) and incredible archeology to discover.

there's also a huge dose of humility to learn, about being the minority (3% whites here), and all sorts of new ways to live, cook, share, and teach.

but mostly because... I can afford to live comfortably here, on my Social Security Disability... in a groovy house, with scrumptious food that practically falls from trees (in my yard live: Sapodilla, Avocado, Cashew, Lime, Sour Orange, Papaya, Mango, Lemon, Coffee, Banana, Plantain, Breadfruit, Soursop, Pitaya, Plum, and several melon varieties.

and Belize is the only country in Latin America that has English as its official language, so I can handle street signs, legal papers, and shopping with ease.

and did I mention, land is cheap (5k an acre), and property taxes are under $100 for a YEAR !!

I've been in Belize for almost 3 and a half years now, so I guess I'm doing okay, hey, whaddaya say?

:D:cool::D

PS: my kids think I'm a wee bit eccentric, but I'm happy, and that's all that counts, lol.

LOL, San !!

that's too funny!

reminded me of my sons a few years back... (they're 25 and 23 now)

sorry you didn't get barbeque, but hey, I haven't had a Subway sandwich in years.

and I know exactly which bread, meats, cheeses, and stuff I'd put on!

oh, I can almost TASTE it !!

:hug:

PS: happy father's day to Jim !!

Kay, oh my, yes that sounds beautiful. I have a question. If you get citizenship in Belize, your able to continue your citizenship here correct? Like a dual citizenship? How cool, Jim and I will be on the next plane out OK?

And how about I ask Subway if they can ship to Belize? lol

Vonn07 06-15-2008 08:29 PM

hey, Kay .. .forgot about the 'sassy' serena!!! LOL

I did it .. I was able to pack the car and make a huge dent in my piles and as soon as I closed the trunk... it started to rain ... is that cool or what??

it was perfect timing!!

have a nice evening ... I'm outta here in the morning .. and YES - I already submitted my 11page paper this afternoon ... so all I have are finals to take before thursday!!

lots on me plate this week maties!!

Sandy ... I'm watching the Tony's ... would love to see Cry-Baby if it would come to Chicago-town ... if ya know what I mean!!:wink:

sabimax 06-15-2008 08:35 PM

Vonn,

I'd like sliced turkey breast, with jack cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, green peppers, onions, and dill pickles... LOL !!

and yes, I get to be a dual citizen... I will always retain my US citizenship, and my Medicare, part A & B.

but I can't do that for five years yet, so we'll see what happens.

and Belize is remarkably W/C-unfriendly... there's no ADA here... this being the 3rd world and all.

I've only found ONE store with a scooter, and yeah, they get MOST of my business.

:hug:

some days I feel like I live inside a giant bird house, what with the birdsong that never stops...

I suppose there HAS to be so many insects, to feed that many birds ???

today around my house, I spotted 2 Green Jays, a Kiskidee, a Toucan, a dozen Great-tail Grackles, a whole flock of Olive-Throated Aztec Parakeets, and a Red-headed Woodpecker.

if there can possibly be a way to enjoy limited mobility, Belize is it... (once an accessible house is built, with REALLY good screens on the windows, weatherstrips around the doors, and bug-proofing...)

:cool:

howdy howdy all,

its one am and the meds, well lets just say, wow !!! foot is still sore, I did an anti gravity test tonight sat down foot caved in under me and my keister promptly failed the anti gravity test I mentioned before.

good thing my angel was there to help me up, why would I need help up, well mainly cause when my keister failed the anti gravity test, it did so by wedging itself between bed and a nightstand, but as I have mentioned prior my angel was there to help me up. took her a few times, no I wasn't stuck that bad, she was having trouble, she couldn't stop laughing........... smack

so anyone else take trip and not leave the farm this weekend

peace

Vonn07 06-16-2008 03:57 AM

sorry about your :Crowded: situation, Frank ... *I'm not laughing* :Oops:

didn't figure anyone would be up this late ... sleeping on and off ... and restless about the trip ... it would be nice to have another body with a truck/trailer to help me load this and get out of here ...

I'm looking around thinking that I may have to rent a truck.. don't have that much big stuff ... but nothing wider than 4ft will fit in the car ...

just a bit in a frenzy about all of this ... just need to get over this 'mountain' and everything will be LOTS better ...

LOL!!! I did that once! We really don't mean to laugh. Jim lodged himself between our beds and got stuck. We have two twin beds put together so it looks like a big bed. Anyway, they slid apart when I was helping put his pants on and down he went! :eek: I laughed so hard I think I pee'd a little! :p The more he grumbled to get him up, the more I laughed. He wasn't hurt but dang it was funny! :p:p

Vonn, I am wishing you the best today! Please let us know how it goes. Jim and I are going out today for his annual neuro appointment. I'll check in later to see how things went. ;)

barb02 06-16-2008 08:43 AM

Vonn, good luck with your apartment search. I really hope everything works out for you.

Frank, I am sorry about the fall. Hope "all of you" is feeling better today. I know I would be grumpy if that happened to me, but it did sound just a little funny. " No I am not laughing. :D" And at least you have someone wonderful to help you up. I can just see me calling 911 if I could reach a phone and having the paramedics breaking down my door to help me get off of my keister. Of course alot of the paramedics are rather cute.:p

Sandy, I hope Jim's appointment goes well today. Sorry about the barbecue. I had Jimmy Johns's last night. Do you have one near you?

Good morning to TK, Fin, Kayo, Sarah, Ewizabeth, Kelly, and anyone else I may have missed!

Getting my hair cut and highlighted this morning and going into school to back up all of my files on my computer as I am getting a new one.

Have a good day! It is not raining here. Yeah!!!

SandyC 06-16-2008 08:45 AM

We have Jimmy John's everywhere but where I live. lol I learned of them when I went to UIC. My fav sandwich is a slim1 with mayo. Some days when funds were tight I'd buy their day old bread to eat. lol

tkrik 06-16-2008 09:17 AM

Man, I don't log on for one day and look at that happens. :eek::D

Kay - I'm with Kelly, I will only live in the jungle through you. I don't think I could take the heat/humidity. I still want to go to Belize for a visit some day as they have the best skin/scuba diving as well as some beautiful beaches. I have been dreaming about it for several years now. Some day, I will make it a reality.

Frank, Sandy, & Jim - Thanks for the laugh this morning. Of course, it was at your expense but I can appreciate the predicament as I have been in similar circumstances.

Sandy & Jim - Good luck at the neuro's today. Hoping for good news when you return.

Vonn - Good luck today. You will have to let us know how everything goes today. Try to relax as everything has a way of working out.

Hi Barb! Have fun at the salon. I always enjoy getting my hair cut as I have been going to the same girl for years now. It always seems that every time I go there is an accident or something right in front of the place. :eek: (It is hard to turn out of that parking lot and there are always accidents there). But it is fun to get your hair done while watching the firemen.:D

Hi everyone else! I hope everyone has a good day.

FinLady 06-16-2008 09:17 AM

Sandy, Sorry to hear the bbq didn't pan out. Hope Jim has a good appointment today.

Frank, OMG. Sorry to hear you got stuck like that.

LOL, my hubby laughs at my falls sometimes after he's sure I'm ok. We joke that the floor has it in for me somedays. :D Hope you feel better soon.

Vonn, best of luck today.

Barb, Glad you had fun with family. LOL, my house is always a wreck after kids leave it. But we find out things we didn't before. We used to have a plain old wine rack until our neice decided the bottles were pretty. LOL, now we have one with a door.

~~~~~~~~
Later than usual with my update today. Found out hubby has the day off of work :), so we'll probably be running around later on.
Watched the NASCAR race yesterday, and our boy finally won a race! Dale Jr. is the driver we follow, and my hubby was screaming with joy at the top of his lungs - LOL. Then we went out to dinner and had a good time.
Tomorrow I'm going to an NMSS sponsored seminar for the newly diagnosed. It's called moving forward, and it's free with lunch provided. :) I'm hoping I can learn some stuff and maybe meet some interesting folks.
Have a good day all! :grouphug:
weegot5kiz 06-16-2008 09:38 AM
thanks everyone foot is still useless as am I, called pc and nero the neuro, still sore from fall, told my darling sensitive caring (sense the sarcasm) wife what i typed last night she laughed even harder, am so glad i can still put a smile on her face and from what i read a few of your faces too, lol talk about wam bam where i am???????? i was up one moment and stuck the next. and sandy not laughing at jim, but that did have to be a sight to see, with my sick sense of humor i am pretty sure i would of laughed too.
good luck Jim on appt
the little tike who visits here has two stash spots that are his domain only, and when we cant find things 9 out of 10 times the little guys has it in his stash spots, amazing how when u think everything is ok a small child can show you nope your wrong....
i need coffee but am lazy and semi whacked on meds, if I get up who else wants a cup (__)?
I shall be about today so you all have a wonderful day
peace
woodhaven 06-16-2008 09:54 AM
Sandy: Hope Jim's appointment goes well today. I go for mine on Wednesday.
Vonn: Good luck today with your apartment search.
Frank: Sorry you had to spend Father's Day in the ER. At least maybe you had some relief before you hit the floor. I do that real often. No major injuries, so far. *keeping fingers crossed*.
Hope everyone has started off having a good day.
prettypearlgirl 06-16-2008 11:40 AM
Just a quick drive by hello to everyone! I'm off to sunny HOT Florida today and won't be back until June 24th! Everyone stay well. I'll have a lot of catching up here when I get back home, LOL!!!
NaeNae 06-16-2008 01:23 PM
Hey everyone..back online here except all they have out here is dial up so it is slow as molasses! yes hubby and I are divorced and as Sandy has stated he wants to get back together...not because of the money because he actually is volunteering to pay me double the amount he was supposed to. We are going to stay seperated a couple of months though and he is going to counseling...I have put MANY conditions on getting back together, so we will see where this takes us. We got hit by a tornado here last night...I have no idea where my patio table is! lots of trees down etc it was scary I tell ya!
DAY1 06-16-2008 02:57 PM
Oh Renee, I knew there were storms in the northern part of the state. I didn't think about tornado's. It was beautiful here all day yesterday.
I'm glad you are alright. It is so scary when tornado's hit.
With all your hubby put you through, I'm shocked that he would want to get back together. I'm glad he's going to counseling.
Take some time. Make sure this is what YOU want to do.
((((((((((((((((((((((((Renee))))))))))))))))))))) )
DAY
sabimax 06-16-2008 07:56 PM
Hugss Renee, I too add...be careful..stay tough..and make sure YOU want this if you consider back together...yes counseling can help..but he was real mean in my eye when he left you the way he did...but maybe htere are reasons....not my business...just want you to take good care of YOU>>>and make sure it is what YOU want if so...good luck hun..and more hugssssss
hey all, just about to shower and get to bed, having a rough sx day...and worked hard..and wiped out...cranky with the kids..thats when I know it is time to for sure go to bed early..and try to start a new day tomorrow..hgssss,sarah
HEY HEY ... look at me ... I was able to quote everybody's good luck wishes .. and I have to say that they really really helped!
OH - I'm home ... left at 830a .. back home at 1030p .. pooped .. but okay ... I qualify for Section 8 (like Klinger on MASH) .. HAHAHAHA!!! but will be able to get into a disabled/senior residence that the person has to be pretty much independent ... and I'll be able to get in before I get SSDI! and there isn't a waiting list .... I'm next!:Excited:
well, there is a downside ... there is a 90yr old lady that isn't expected to make it to the end of the month :(... I get her room ... but all will work out ... in the meantime, going to move everything I can into storage ... and get down to the area ... and will stay with my friends until the apartment is ready ... so, all is working out!
okay - I'm pooped ... have to take my finals tomorrow ... but tonight I will be able to sleep ...
Kay would be proud of me ... as I was driving down, I felt something (like a tickle) on my neck just at the collar of my shirt ... so, without looking, I just reached to swish it whatever it was ... and ended up squishing a spider about the size of a pea ...
I didn't swerve in traffic too bad ... but when I got to my friend's house - the first thing I asked her 'Can you see spider guts on my neck??' ... see what I get for hanging out with Kay and her bug-a-boos???
and Frank ... you're such a hoot to pick on ... that when something actually happens ... well, the laughter keeps going .. and going .. and going! it's really hard to pick someone up when we're laughing ourselves and crossing our legs so NOT to p! then we do .. and it's even more funnier ... thanks for the joy you bring to our life .. like GE!!:ROTFLMAO:
Hey Renee .. stay strong ... what he did was dirty and hurtful ... forgiveness is okay ... but you don't have to accept what he done to you as normal .. you've crossed some awesome mountains these last few weeks ... be proud of what you did for your family ... !!
Sarah ... still have my driver's license .... so after I get moved and situated ... a roadtrip will be on the list of things to do ... just may need to use the cane after being on the road and going thru a time-zone!! LOL
Kitty 06-17-2008 05:07 AM
Vonn, I'm so glad things went well for you. Sounds like you got alot accomplished on your trip. :)
Renee, girl you worry me!! Please don't let your guard down.....I'm not in your shoes so I won't begin to pretend to know what you're going through. I tend to be distrustful of people who repeatedly do me wrong. Just please, be careful. He sounds like he knows how to "work the emotions". I'll be praying for you.
sabimax 06-17-2008 06:30 AM
Von,
glad your day went well..woohoooo
Cane and all I will take the visit..but also remember when we plan it we could meet halfway or somewhere....hugssssss
Heading to work meeting, each month the owner of the three McDonald's stores,and his wife take the three of us Store Managers to breakfast meeting. So we eat out chat about anything new, changes, problems..etc...(actually, most could be done other ways..so kindof nice to be treated to a breakfast hehe and count the time as paid hehe)
hugss all, sarah (who is missing her oldest now...finally set in...he has been in florida for almost a week now..and he is gone still another week. But when he returns the girls and I, are on a driving trip downstate MI...to visit first the family I know from MA, that I had nannied for. Then to hang at my sister Madelines house...get some time with her...so I wont see son till late night Sunday the week after...
Who is from the Grand Rapids area, isnt AMN or someone...who who...sorry cogfog....but I will be in that area for few days...hugssss all, sarah
weegot5kiz 06-17-2008 08:26 AM
thanks vonn glad i can put a smile on your face, glad everything is sounding better for you, last week you were so down:hug::hug:
renee i may not have all the facts but this is the second time he has done this to you. make a fool of me once and shame on you make a fool of me twice and shame on me, its a dumb saying but very true, like vonn said you have found yourself and climbed a mountain in the past month, i cant tell you what to do,
after what he did and put you through saying i love you doesnt fix it, in my eyes he has a long way to go before he even gets in my door, and odds are he will do this again to you, he thought of himself and himself only,
like i said i dont have all the facts, but i would smack the smile off his face if it were me, and yes i have been through this, abandoned and left with a ten month old and a two yr old child, bank acct cleaned out and i survived and became stronger everyday, and yes i was scared as heck, but was also proud of myself my kids and myfriends who were able to help me, sorry if you feel this is not my place to talk about this, but what he did to you, was wrong and hurtful, and your heart is too good to be treated in such a way :hug::hug:
i neeeeeeeddddddd cooooffffffffeeeeeeeeeeee now
hollym 06-17-2008 08:31 AM
Hey everyone. I'm still wiped out from my cross country adventure with Grandma. My arms are also giving me fits, so typing is not easy. They feel like I've been lifting weights just from typing. Makes me want to cry.
We are coming up on the end of baseball season. I want to both celebrate and cry. I love watching my boys play baseball, but it will be nice to not run so much.
Well, my arms are done with this. Talk to you all later.
weegot5kiz 06-17-2008 09:05 AM
sorry u r feeling like that holly, but dont cry, it wont help and it may upset you more and stress is not our friend. how is grandma doing? have u talked to your doc about this pain?
hope you feel better real soon
barb02 06-17-2008 09:24 AM
Vonn, I am happy that things are working out for you. You deserve a break!
Renee, At first I was not going to say anything about your post, but I also am concerned about you. There is such a thing as emotional abuse as well as physical abuse. I hope you do realize that you deserve to be treated with both respect and love.
I have to go into school today to back up some more files as they are installing my new computer on Thursday. I might go see Sex and the City this afternoon. The weather is beautiful here today.
NaeNae 06-17-2008 09:50 AM
Hey all thanks for the concern, I wouldn't count yall as such wonderful friends if you weren't honest with me. Like I said I have not posted everything and I really understand everyones concern as they mirror my own. I have made it clear to him that i am not going to keep doing this, that how he did this both times was dead wrong...his attorney is the one who advised him and he is a dumbarse in my opinion,as i said I have put many many terms down that he has to go thru in order to even consider it. I will say though that part of what he is going thru I think is psychological and part physical... I am by no means making excuses, but he actually does not remember whole conversations he has had with people etc. he is going to counseling as well as to a doctor he has had severe headaches for the past 4 years and this combined with the losing conversations and not knowing he actually went somewhere is concerning to me. Well gotta run for now as I have a guy coming to the houseto work on the satellite....oh btw just in case yall are worried I am not taking care of me...I am going to therapy twice a week myself with a wonderful minister who has been a dear friend to me since I was a child.
oh, honey!
you're so brave, my leetle Vonny...
want to tell you though, I use the BRUSH technique, just in case it might be a fire ant, or a bee, which I don't want to BITE me when I squooosh 'em... 'cause I'm allergic.
BUT... your method is indubitably BETTER while driving, since you don't want whatever-it-is loose in a moving vehicle while you're driving, giving it a second chance to land or crawl on you.
most of the spiders I leave alone, webs-and-all (unless company's coming, LOL!) because they catch other things that bother me more.
the main ones I kill are the wolf spiders...
tarantulas I catch (or more likely, make mi esposo do it!) and release outside safely... the only danger with them is they have urticarious hairs they can shoot off their abdomens, which can cause eye problems... otherwise, they're pretty cool.
and scorpions, they usually meet their maker if they come into my house.
:eek:
oh, and good job on the house-hunt, I'm so happy you have secured something suitable.
you DESERVE it !!
Some day, I will make it a reality.
yes, Belize has the longest reef in this hemisphere, and the 2nd longest in the world, with the best diving and snorkeling EVER !!
just make sure (especially if you have numbness issues) that you ARMOUR up before beach-combing... there's sand fleas and no-see-ums, and you can get bit to heck without even knowing it.
people with MS and peripheral neuropathies are especially vulnerable...
jellyfish can also be an issue... so I like FULL-coverage scuba suits, even while merely snorkeling.
the most unfair part is that there's different neuro sensors for feeling the BITE, and feeling the later ITCH caused by the bugs' anticoagulant or venom.
so... I can't feel the bites (to slap or whack them away, or KNOW it's time to LEAVE) but unfortunately, I CAN feel the itching...
wah wah wah!
oh, and Trish, if you hold your dream close, and pinch your pennies, and plan well, someday you can make it come true!
I managed (with lots of help) to swim with the ray mantas in Tahiti... I wanted to do it sooooooooooo bad, that I convinced them to let me (despite liability issues up de wazoo) even though I was in a wheelchair.
it took two guides to help me stay with the group, and attached to the rope (I hooked my elbows over it, as my numb weak hands couldn't hold on to the rope)
and that's given me memories I will NEVER forget !!
a really nice thing about snorkeling is that most of the MS just disappears, in the cool water, and floating...
serenity, and bliss, I highly recommend it !
NaeNae, big-sister time!
you can tune me out if you want, but here's my advice anyway.
like Frank, I don't know the whole situation, but please think really HARD before you give this guy another chance.
because we love you and can't stand to think of you being hurt again.
I'd say, give it a YEAR to see if he can straighten himself out before you even CONSIDER getting back together with him.
your emotions are probably all in a big ol' tangle right now, and that leaves you vulnerable to his pleas and ploys.
he may very well HAVE the best intentions (I can't know) but patterns are patterns, and even if he doesn't do it on purpose, he will probably hurt you again.
plus, the trust in your relationship is totally *evaporated* right now.
that needs TIME to be rebuilt, otherwise, all you'll do (even if you try NOT to) is WATCH him suspiciously, and worry, and there'll be sniping and undercurrents all over... and maybe even arguments.
please, pretty please, heed my warnings (I have been there, and OWN this T-shirt, totally!)
give it time, and if it's real, the relationship will heal and come back together, given nurturing and hope and love.
but if it doesn't, you won't be so badly stuck again, or boxed into a corner.
I know it's hard to be a single mom, and even HARDER to be alone, but it might just be what you NEED right now, some time of solitude, meditation, and HEALING.
so, resist his pleas, and give it a year, to make sure, okay dear?
okay, big-sister-rant over.
