Let me know how that works for Jim. I was just talking to another MSer about this and how they are starting to use them in many rehab facilities with excellent results. I was pretty impressed with the reviews and have been putting aside a little bit of money to get the Wii as well as the WiiFit.

Vonn - I used the prepaid phone for years. It worked great. I got the Alltel one as their minutes don't expire after so many days. In other words, if you purchase $40.00 worth of minutes many companies have a limit on how long you have to use those minutes (T-Mobile is 90 days). I finally got a plan but did not have to sign any contract as I had my prepaid with Alltel for so long. It worked out great.

Hi everyone! I hope you all have a good day.

SandyC 06-19-2008 10:56 AM

Wait! Vonn, are you giving your car away too? Why?????

LOL If you already answered this I am sorry, I missed it.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a good day. I heard from my neuro last night. He told me that he and the radiologist have now decided I do have one new lesion since year. I am not sure why they were undecided earlier. I told him that I was not going to try any new meds for now (imuran or cellcept) as there was no real evidence that they are helping. He responded by saying well it is chemo and it is used alot in Europe, but if there was evidence that it worked, it would be used alot more in the states. So why was he pushing it a month ago? Ugh! Then he said he would see me in 6 months and I knew how to find him if I needed him.

I am joining Weight Watchers today. I am going with a friend so hopefully that will help me stick with the program. I did W.W. about 5 years ago and lost 45 pounds. Of course I have gained it all back. But I have decided I need to get my diet under control. I don't want to be one of those people who need 2 aides to get them out of bed and into a wheel chair. Just kidding! Sort of!

mmm, real fresh eggs.
yep, we have eggs for breakfast every day... we eat the small ones, the over-large ones, and the off-color ones.

we barter 2 or 3 flats a day, in exchange for veggies... (there's 30 in a flat)

and we *still* have enough left over to hatch a batch (42) a month.

and we get to make roast chicken from all the "extra" roosters, and always have meat in the freezer... if you have the space for it, free-range chicken farming is easy and fun... the chickens mostly take care of themselves, we just had to make STURDY possum-proof coops, and safe nest-boxes, out of scrap lumber.

we also have ducks, geese, pigs, goats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, on 6 acres.

and mmmmmmmmmmmmm, fresh eggs, brown, organic, free-range, tasty, yum!!

TK the wii system is awesome, we are trying to find a wii fit right now they are hard to find, even the regular wii disc that comes with game has a work out thingy on it, the first week we had it we bowled everynight 4-6 games a night by friday we couldnt move lol we were sore, from using muscles we forgot about

kay my wife is on her way she loves your post, as do I

Barb howdy, not sure about that indecision about lesion, mine did that to me too, perhaps in the early stage of lesion devolpement, it looks similar to other possible thingys

I hope everyone has a wonderful day

there's several kinds of chickens that lay green or bluish eggs, the Easter Egger, the Araucauna, and the Americauna...

somehow, here in da jungle, we managed (a buried recessive gene?) to get a HEN that looks like the one on the right:

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1...hleghortk4.jpg

she gives us greenish shelled eggs, one every morning, in a pile of hay on top of the rabbit hutches...

here's the scoop on Easter-egg layers:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Araucana

luckily, I'd already read about this somewhere, so I didn't freak OUT last month when this started, thinking I had some ALIEN chicken !!

:D:o:D

PS: I'll be tap-tap-tapping for the next two weeks, waiting !! and praying that all turns out for the very BEST for you, dear !!!!!

you and Deb are welcome to visit anytime, but beware!

plane tickets have gotten RIDICULOUS recently, plus they're charging for extra bags now.

that's why I didn't get to go to my brother's funeral last year, I couldn't afford it... especially on short notice (if you have *time* to hunt, there's sometimes bargains, especially during hurricane high season, August - October).

today's a nothing day... I've already taken a four-hour NAP to rest up from yesterday, lol !!

hubby's busy dehydrating racks and racks of bananas (too many ripening to eat all at once) and making more Mango Chutney to can... we got cases and cases of canning jars at the Farmer's Trading Center last week, wheeeeeeeeeeee !!!

yeah, people get excited about strange things in the jungle.

oh, and there's pineapple in the dryer too... makes the whole house smell wonderful!

plus, we got the foundations poured on the emergency animal hurricane shelter this morning... so, I'm a very content and happy gal...

Good evening all :) A little late with my update, so Frank I don't have any coffee with me right now. Too late in the day for it. But had to mention it anyways after your post, LOL. ;)

I woke up late, ran to my aerobics class, came home, fell asleep again - LOL. That about sums up my day. :D

Vonn, hope the move works out for ya. Glad to hear things are moving nicely so far.

Sandy, I really like my Wii so far. Bowling, tennis, etc. It's been fun.

Everyone, :hug::hug: You guys are great.

tkrik 06-19-2008 06:39 PM

Vonn - you do realize that we have all marked out calendars for 2 weeks from today to hear your story. Of course, we had to write it down on the calendar as some of have cog issues. LOL. Good luck with the move.

Kay - I had to take a nap yesterday as your post made me exhausted. LOL. You really needed and deserved the break today. I am glad you got the chance to rest and nap.

Sarah - It sounds like a fun girls trip. I am so glad that you all will be able to do this. Remember the curling irons, blow dryers, nail polish, etc. for a girls beauty night. :p That's a given around this house and DDs friends have now joined in on our beauty nights.

Hang in there Soxmom. lol 2 weeks seems so long now doesn't it. lol

Hi Fin - Don't worry about the coffee. It's great to see your familiar posts. Glad you made it in time for your aerobics class.

FinLady 06-20-2008 08:10 AM

Good morning all :) Another nice day in the neighborhood.

Main goal of day - clean, clean, clean. My dad and stepmom will be here Monday, so need to straighten up some. Gonna crank up some tunes. :cool: Cleaning to music always helps.

:grouphug: Hope everyone has a great day.

Vonn07 06-20-2008 08:18 AM

okay okay ... I had to check up on you guys before you all worked yourself into a tizzy ... just got done loading the car (close to beverly hillbillys in a 2-door sunbird) .. probably another load yet this weekend .. then down to stuff that I will need a truck ... not much, just a truckload ...

so - relax, breathe - enjoy ... I'll be fine ... (although my body hurts like he!! all the time) ... my doctor did sign the papers for the housing unit that YES I am a disabled individual .. now still waiting for good-ole uncle sam to say so (it's hard to document stress and pain on paper to convince the government) .. oh well ..

well, off I go .. everyone have a great weekend ... and stop worrying ...

going to pick up a trac phone this afternoon too (that's my big splurge) .. LOL

FinLady 06-20-2008 08:30 AM

safe travels, Vonn. :hug:

tkrik 06-20-2008 10:00 AM

Vonn - have a good trip. Drive safe.

Fin - That is what my day looks like. Cleaning. New kitty and I are going through a major adjustment period.

I am allergic to cats, however, I know that you can adjust to the cat. It took me a little bit to adjust to DBF's cat and I don't have too much trouble with her. Last night DD18 cleaned the kitten really well. It looks so cute after it's bath and all that dirt and grime is off of it. It really does look like a fur ball now. LOL.

It sounds strange to those of you in more humid climates but I had to add some humidity here. (Water in a crock pot running all day). This hopefully solidified the dust some so that dusting/vacuuming will capture most of it. We do dust with a damp cloth and/or vacuum. We're working to keep the other allergens under control so that it's only the cat that DD16 and I are trying to deal with. My sinuses can only take so much. :eek:

Cyn - I got paid yesterday and now have the money to go get the Neti pot which I will be doing today as well. I'll let you know how it goes and I really appreciate your recommendation.

I hope you all have a great day!

weegot5kiz 06-20-2008 10:16 AM

SandyC 06-20-2008 10:45 AM

Hi everyone! Going out to see the new primary today for Jim. If I like him I too will ask to be his patient, and the boys of course. The urologist has not called us back. I hope that's because he's hard at work trying to figure a plan for Jim. I called yesterday asking if he wants a follow up and they said they would forward my message to the doc. He was out of the office yesterday and in surgery all day today.

If we don't hear from him by Wednesday we may ask for our records back and pursue another doc. We don't want to do that because he seemed so great. Patience is not one of my virtues so help me on this one guys! lol

The Wii is amazing!!!!!!!! Jim and I played bowling and he beat me. lol Our arms felt it too! Whoohoo!

weegot5kiz 06-20-2008 10:53 AM

good luck on docs visit and be paitent(sp?) you were so upbeat about this new doc, told ya the wii was cool and will work u out good, glad u enjoyed the wii JIm too

tkrik 06-20-2008 11:07 AM

Sandy & Jim - Wishing you the best of luck today. Yes, the Wii will do that. When (and that's a big when) DDs go to their dad's one of his friends has a Wii. They always come home so sore from playing it. They play it for hours.

barb02 06-20-2008 02:58 PM

Hi everyone! TGIF!

Sandy, the wii games sounds like fun. I know a friend is planning on getting one for her family for Christmas. Hope the doctor's appt went ok. I just switched my insurance plans so in July I can choose all of my own doctors. It certainly is challenging finding a good fit sometimes -- especially here in a more rural area.

Vonn, Good luck with your move. Try to not overdo it.

Frank and fin -- Ditto -- do not overdo it.

TK -- How did your daughter do on her exams? Is she feeling ok about them? what are her plans after she gets her GED? Does that sound too nosey? I hope not:)

My update: Went to Weight Watchers yesterday and started counting my points. I don't know why, but whenever I am trying to change my eating habits all I think about if food.:rolleyes:Last Spring when I had my flare I lost 40 pounds. I did not want to eat for about 3 months. I actually lost 10 pounds the week I was on iv steriods. The doctors could not understand it since people usually gain weight. Then for a few months when I got my appetite back, I just ate whatever I wanted. Thus I have gained most of that weight back too.:o

I went furniture shopping today. Bought a new mattress and box springs and a new sofa. They deliver them next Tuesday. Now I am mentally rearranging my living room.

sabimax 06-20-2008 03:35 PM

wow all these girls and I havent had a girls night...beauty night TK..hmmm good idea...just one of my girls is such a tomboy..so not into that...and I have never been much for the extras so never thought of making a night of it...might give that a try...my oldest would be into that...hehe

Just was out with the girls, getting the older two haircuts...here they did my 8 year old all curly dolled up...and she was like...whispering mom...I am brushing this out when we get home....(my tomboy)

Now just relaxing eating some dinner....not much tonight..I lose my helper..she is heading to a sleep over...and my son is still in florida...hoping to head to bed fairly early with the other girls....work next two days...then off woohoooo hugssss,sarah

tkrik 06-20-2008 04:28 PM

Hey Nosey! LOL j/k Barb - I updated the thread but . . She passed the tests from yesterday. So far she has passed 4 of the 5 parts of the GED. Next week she will take the science part. If she passes that, she gets her GED. She will begin college in the fall. Although her photography is awesome (I started an album on NT with her work) and she has great English and writing skills, she wants to go in to merchandising. I really think photojournalism and working for a magazine/newspaper would be great for her. But she needs to take her own direction.

Sarah - Your funny! DD18 was a major, major tomboy. To the point that she swore she was not going to grow boobs and would do anything to stop it except surgery. She even asked how to stop them from growing. LOL. Now she is all girl. If you do a beauty night, have the tomboy daughter take pictures or something like that so at least she is somewhat involved in the fun.

SandyC 06-20-2008 07:39 PM

Just popping in to say we absolutely love the new doctor!!!!! I think Jim hit it off with him very well. Hey, they are both soldiers, trained at Westpoint together. Well, Jim trained cadets. lol

Anyway, he is the most awesome doctor and is going to get Dr Sobel on the ball. He said Dr Sobel (urologist) is one of the best but sometimes he piles too much on his plate so he's sending him a tickle. lol He also noticed that a second report came in from Micro and the antibiotic Jim is on is resistant to Ecoli. Dr Sobel didn't miss it, it just came in after he prescribed Jim's meds. So, Jim is now on sulfur and Keflex. He also gave Jim some lozenges to use in case he starts to have thrush from the med.

Get this! His FIL also has ms and so he knows all about ms!!!!! What are the chances eh? He said his FIL is in bad shape and has the same problem Jim does with UTI's but he is now resistant to all oral antibiotics. So, he is very interested in sending Jim to infectious disease as well, not only to learn about Jim but also for his FIL. How frickin' cool is this?????

Ok, story ended. lol

Ooops, wait! I also asked him if he would take me, Chris and Nik on and he said absolutely. When I started explaining my doctor to him he stopped me in my tracks. He told me he has taken on several of my doctor's patients and that they have had issues with my doctor. Apparently when he gets in trouble he goes after the docs who had to testify or something like that? Whoa! I am so out of that doctors care as of right now. lol He must get in trouble often! :yikes:

weegot5kiz 06-20-2008 10:51 PM

thats great sandy and jim, really is great news

hello barb tk sarah fin and everyone sweet dreams

weegot5kiz 06-21-2008 05:58 AM

sweet dreams is what i wished

to sleep i go, no luck, try as i might:Hum:
with no success i lay here and rest
the sky brightens, i hear robins in their nest
a gentle breeze caresses the drapes:Head-Spin:
sounds of sunrise ,often leave my mouth agape
robins start off first with their gentle call
i enjoy their songs from spring till fall
hearing a redwing black bird gaurding its nest
their calls are of love challenges and test:mf_swordfight:
wrens orioles chicadees and many more
their own calls add to the musical score
hearing this music of nature is a pure delight
makes it worth it when one doesnt sleep the night :Dancing-Chilli:

good morning everyone,:Wave-Hello: was laying hear listening to the birds and thought i would share the sunrise here with you all

FinLady 06-21-2008 07:01 AM

Sandy, Glad you like the new PCP. Sounds like it's going to be a great fit for you and Jim. Hope it continues to be a good relationship. :)

Frank, Thanks for sharing your poem. Sorry to hear you've had trouble sleeping. :hug:

Sarah, LOL. Your tomboy sounds like me as a kid. ;) I still don't do much to doll myself up unless it's a special occassion. I did enjoy those beauty sleepovers as a kid 'cuz I'd learn stuff, but it was one of those "I'd rather be camping" type of things.

Barb, best of luck with WW. I also have the problem of thinking about food A LOT when I'm trying to change things around in my lifestyle. LOL, it seems to be one of those strange things about human nature. :rolleyes:

TK, Hope your DD passes her final part of the GED. My SIL dropped out of school and got her GED. She's finally in college now, getting A's and B's. She's doing much better without the drama that can come from high school.

~~~~~~~~~~
Hi all. Just sitting here, up earlier than I expected. Kitties have been fighting all morning. :(
Hoping this coffee will wake me up so I can continue the straightening up of the house and playing the referee. ;)
Hope everyone has a good day today. :grouphug:
oh dear, oh gosh, oh jeepers, and heavens to Murgatroyd !!
if you're in trouble for THAT-length of post, then *I'm* facing a firing squad at dawn !!
:eek: :D :eek:
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
we just returned from our regular Sat. early trip to market.
no cabbage in sight, hardly any lettuce, oh, it was sad... *sniffle*
most of the stalls were empty, or just had onions and potatoes and peppers.
so many farmers got flooded out, and roads were so badly damaged (from "Arthur") and gas is so expensive that produce is having a hard time making it to market...
I've heard of TONS of nanners and pineapples left to ROT in the fields, GACK !!
rice fields and citrus groves were THRASHED by the storms.
we got a 50 lb sack of carrots, some bok choy, callalou, cilantro, then put gas in the truck, ($50 Bz bucks got me a little over four gallons, ouch ouch ouch !!) and came home broke, dispirited, and WHINY !!
I'm getting some upsetting STAB-things in the left ear that make me GASP with the sharp pain... geez Louise, I HATE HATE HATE trigeminal neuralgia, I really do !!
and now there's piles of produce to clean and bag and get into the fridge, and I just wanna sit here and whimper, lol !!
we got about an acre planted in veggies, but I don't know if they're going to make it due to the unexpected storms.
feeling guilty for all the rain-dancing I was doing back at the end of May, when it hadn't rained (in the RAINFOREST, really!) since January.
so, I'm kinda worried about how I'm gonna feed alla my critters.
:(:o:(
tkrik 06-21-2008 11:09 AM
Sandy & Jim - That is great. A whole new world seems to be opening up for you two and positively too. I am happy for you guys and hope that some different treatment options will help.
Frank - Thanks for the poem. I am so sorry you are getting ZAPPED while on the MS Indy 500. Sending you hugs and hoping you are feeling better today.:hug:
Fin - Has the coffee kicked in yet for you? LOL. You are going to need it to finish getting every thing ready. Your company comes Monday, right? At least hubby is home and together you can accomplish everything in no time.
(((Kay))) - That is such sad news. The effects of that storm have only begun to surface. I didn't even think about it until I read your post this morning how much and how many people that flooding will effect in the months to come. Keeping you all in my prayers.:hug:
weegot5kiz 06-21-2008 12:07 PM
Kay i am sorry for the effects of the storm, and what its doing to the economics, and hope this pain subsides quickly:hug:
everyone enjoy the day
peace
SandyC 06-21-2008 12:54 PM
Hi all, hope everyone is having a great day. I just got back from dropping off specimens at the doctor. Gonna rest, yea, that's a good idea. ;-)
Kay, prayers being sent that your veggies do OK.
barb02 06-21-2008 03:25 PM
Kay, Hope you garden turns out okay.
Jenn, Hope you have a good visit with your family.
TK, If you daughter is the typical college student, she will change her major a few times.
We have had a few storms here today. I am hoping that they are not getting more rain in western Illlinois, Iowa, Missouri.
Having kind of a quiet day and I am getting bored with myself.:rolleyes:One friend is in Ireland right now, one is visiting Ohio, and my other friend is busy with her family. So I do not have anyone to play with today.:( I need more friends. Do you all remember how easy it was to make friends when you were a kid? It seems so much harder the older you get. Plus I have felt some people pull away from me since last year. Guess I am feeling a bit lonely and missing family right now.
I am going to go read and try to pull myself out of this funky mood.
Hope you all are having a good weekend!
tkrik 06-21-2008 06:19 PM
(((Barb))) - I hope you found a great book to read and were able to relax. It is hard some times. You also have your beading to do as well. ;)
lor 06-21-2008 07:37 PM
Thats a nice poem Frank. It looks like you like birds & when you said something about 'their calls of love' made me think of the 2 birds I saw once. I went out of town with my DH & I looked out the window (our beautiful view was a rooftop) & saw two sparrows, one ontop of the other :rolleyes: And when we went camping on memorial day weekend, we put those tacky lights (sorta like Xmas lights) up on out awning....bright orange suns & yellow moons. I had to chuckle when a humingbird flew up to one of the suns thinking it was a flower. I guess he was ready to get some nice nectar.
Almost in tears at Walmart today...went out shopping with the four girls with my mom...
she showed me some sandels, like kindof casual but heels...RED I LOVE RED>...and I never doll up either...fell in love with them...but as humid as it was tonight...as I put them in the cart....then tried them on again..and realized ...if I had bought them...and humidity came up...I would risk breaking an ankle...due to balance issues..and such....
SO, then when my mom was like, why you putting them back....I didnt say much...by time we were at the checkout..I was teary eyed...silly yes about shoes...if you know me though..I am not a crazy shoe woman where whats another pair...I own maybe three pairs of shoes lol.....Just fell in love with them..but realized really my limitations are....to be smart .....and didnt get them....
Ok some of the tears were probably due to me trying on clothes..and my pudgy middle being so darn pudgy...I couldnt bear to buy anything...everything looked uggggggg....then got frustrated....
ok gotta run...gotta keep doing laundry and some more packing...leaving MOnday..and I work full day tomorrow...actually heading to bed really soon as even having trouble typeing...uggg...hugssss,sarah
Just taking a quick break before returning to the cleaning. Mostly done, but still have quite a bit to do.
Hubby leaves for his trip tonight and then my dad and stepmom will be here tomorrow. Gonna be interesting, LOL. We've been joking that this conference hubby is going to was timed on purpose. :D But he is a little disappointed he's gonna miss them but he's not that worried about me since I have some company while he's gone.
things got me to thinking my wife missed her mothers day in bed breakfast due to me being ill and in hospital, so I turned up the tunes on the lap top starting with we be jammin by bob marley to ventura highway by america then the CLASH with london calling then YES with wonderous stories and some blind faith, while i got mojo juice going some hashbrowns with gaarlic and onions and some hickory smoked maple flavored bacon drowned in pepper some eggs over rough lol opps and if folks around here would thaw a loaf of bread she would of had vanilla flavored french toast, as it is i am dead just doing that, this illness sucks so much
hope your breakfast was as enjoyable, I know kay can top it with all those exotic fruits and different breads they make
peace again
