Hi everyone!
Been struggling with a cold, crud, or whatever for the last few days. Feel like my head is the size of a basketball :) Stayed home today and laid around home, took meds and slept. Hopefully tomorrow is better!!

FaithS 01-26-2008 09:14 PM

DD18 has a 3-day swim meet this weekend. Will be her last swim club meet; has been swimming competetively since she was the age of 9.

She has not entered many meets the past couple of years. Due to back problems, teenage growing patterns/hormones, etc., she peaked athletically as a freshman, and has not been able to attain personal best times for about 3 years.

However, she swam faster today than she has for quite some time, and felt good about how she ended her club swimming "career". She swam that fastest times that her current coach has ever observed her swim; she felt good about that, too.

She plans to swim on the high school team for the spring season, and will likely not swim competetively after that is over.

On the one hand, it feels kind of like the end of an era, and somewhat sad, but, on the other hand, it is also a relief that we will no longer be putting time and $ into her swimming.

Today, as we often do, we brought out own bag chairs to the meet. My MS makes me less and less able to navigate bleachers, so it was nice that we were able to find an empty spot on the floor to put our chairs.

Several years ago, she had thought that she would probably like to swim in college, but she has now ruled that out. I expect, though, that she will continue to enjoy swimming laps to keep fit.

CayoKay 01-26-2008 10:08 PM

I understand, Faith.

my daughter had to quit the swim team as a sophmore, as her "developments" (as she termed them) were, er, um, slowing her down.

and my son was on the diving team, but had to bail, as he kept getting Otitis Externa (outer ear infections)

so, I know what you mean about the end of an era.

Kathy, I hope you feel better soon... I've got a sinus infection that's draggin' me down.

NaeNae, LOL! you don't have to talk, just blow us kisses from time to time! and keep us posted, okay?

Von, pass me a frosty mug of A & W, pretty please... I haven't had any in AEONS!

AMN: such a thrill!

Sarah, when my arm was doing that one, I swear, I stuck it in the FREEZER for a moment, to see it that would make it behave!

:D :hug: :D

jmiller 01-26-2008 10:37 PM

Cayo: love your site, woule like to see more spiders and snakes. love things that crawl and bite. lol

CayoKay 01-26-2008 10:45 PM

now, jmiller, you *know* I promised not to post any more icky bugs and snakes pix.

ya tryin' ta get me in trouble, or what?

:p

It was mine too but instead I had more important things to do like listen to my Mom and how worried she is over the bills and her surgery. After tears and a few "Mom, stop it!" things settled down.

She then recited to me the Amityville Horror movie verbatim.

Think she's trying to tell me something? :eek:

I hope everyone starts to feel better! Seems a bug (no, not one of Kay's) is going around trying to take over.

Jim and I have been blessed to miss out on it. Whew!

Vonn07 01-26-2008 11:31 PM

no bugs here .. but, my roof sprang a leak (around the fan thingie that doesn't work) ... but I fixed it with duct tape and wax paper ... it's suppose to get OVER 32 tomorrow ... heat wave, we're having a heat wave ..

cleaning and making room to clear out of the storage unit ...

anyone have $20g laying around??? I could get a spanking-new tincondo with wide door entries, slab, skirting and setup .... my monthly payments would be under $150/month - and would have better electricity efficiency with a new refrigerator (and w/d) ... make then take my new furnace ... and then put up a ramp ... by the way - does anyone know how to ask for a new trailer from the county??

uh, I have bad days of walking ... and can't keep holding this place up on duct-tape alone ... LOL

Von, it may just be the snow melting. I had that happen in the attic. It somehow melted and ran down. Check the roof before you think it's a leak. Just look! Don't climb up there! :D

not planning to climb the roof .. I think that the 'caulking' is cracked after the heating dudes were up there setting up the furnace (which is in the closet space next to the bathroom) ... I'm cool with it ...

thanks ... I was thinking about getting the ladder ... then had another thought and forgot about the ladder!:eek:

Good morning everyone! Had a cheese bagel from Panera for breakfast. Yum! I went to see a movie (27 Dresses) and out to dinner last night with friends. If you have not noticed from my posts, I eat out too much:) The movie was cute; not a great movie but we all enjoyed it.

I have been dealing with the dizzies (vertigo) the past few days. :mad: I am praying I am not having another flare. I am supposed to leave on Feb 9 to fly to Austin, Texas to spend a few weeks with my little sister (12 years younger) and the cutest niece in the world (she is 2 and extremely smart too and only a tad bit spoiled). Oh, my brother in law will be there too:p I have my 3rd tyssabri infusion on Feb 6th so I am also hoping that goes ok.

I hope everyone is having a good day. Did you guys see the post with the Irish music and pictures from Ireland. They were beautiful, but for some reason Irish music always makes me want to cry.:thud:

It is sometimes hard when our children move from one phase to another.
My son recently suffered a life changing injury and is no longer Mr. Sports.
Our whole life has really changed as we used to have a game or more
every day. I feel for him and also have been feeling loss for myself.(I
cant really explain why) Good luck she sounds like a winner.

As for the nasty virus/cold/flu that is going around, yuck. We had
the stomach flu last week and this week a nasty virus. Im the last
one to get the cold and I feel like crud.:( I had to grocery shop this
a.m. because we were out of everything.:eek: I hadnt gone to the
store as everyone was sick.

So lugging two carts around at 7a.m. is not my idea of fun. But its all
put away and my dh took the little ones out and the older ones are
sleeping, so here I sit. AAHHHHH!:D

I hope everyone who is feeling under the weather starts to feel better
soon.

Have a nice Sunday all.

Good morning!

I'm just enjoying my second cup of coffee and taking it easy before I start painting. We are on the final leg of a now 7 month master bath/closet remodel. Once the painting is done today we can install the toilet and sink, and the bathroom will be done. :D

You have no idea how happy this will make me!

Have a great day everyone... I'm off to paint!:Painter:

thav1 01-27-2008 12:48 PM

I'm working on my second cup of coffee,(thanks for joining me).DH had to head back early and didn't get to stay the whold week end.The weather went bad with freezing rain and they had to close I-84 so he had to make his way on back roads and mountain passes. I held my breathe for hours untill he called to say he made it okay. I should be up cleaning up last nights messes in case they call to show the house.All three of his girls,myself,my daughter and my granddaughter feel the absence with him gone.It's like he sucked the life out of the house when he left.:Sigh: Now....how about another cup of coffee?

tkrik 01-27-2008 09:10 PM

Ditto what Barb said. There is so much going around right now; or so it seems.

I took a few days away from here to finish my laundry and housecleaning. Finally got it all done. We've had temps in the mid 60's and sunny skies for the past few days, so I have a touch of spring fever right now.:D

FinLady 01-28-2008 07:59 AM

Good morning all. Have coffee in hand and trying to wake up. Thinking of calling off PT this morning. I have a cold and feel "blah" **sniff, sniff**
Also have box of kleenex in the other hand. LOL.

Had a little too much wine at the tasting we had at our friend's house. :o Forgot that I don't have the tolerance I used to. So yesterday was a bit of a recovery day. :o

I hope that everyone who has one of those nasty bugs that's going around feels better soon.

Have a good day all :)

suzyqz_2007 01-28-2008 08:07 AM

yeah, it's beautiful, but I have to "armor up" to go outside! (fire ants, army ants, scorpions, tarantulas, blah blah blah)

didja get to do anything inland? like ruins, or caves, or the jungle zipline tours?

it's like California, when I lived in the snowy foothills, and many people think CA's all about the beach!

I live as far as one can get inland (almost to the Guatemala border, next to the Xunantunich ruins), and have only been to the coast twice in three years...

:cool:

Hey, just checking in! Doing some laundry and stuff. I took a zanax last night and was out cold until 10:30am! Wow, I feel good though.

I also talked to our Renee. The stubborn thing wont go to the ER for me. Nurses...lol

NaeNae 01-28-2008 06:31 PM

Would not go to the ER because I have a docs appt tomorrow morning which I told her LOL! mothers sheesh, and when Sandy gets into Momma Sandy mode...well Jim and I just have to gang up on her.....except he took her side today :(

FinLady 01-29-2008 07:25 AM

Renee, Hope the doc appointment goes ok today. Feel better soon. :hug:

Vonn, Great news about the Copax working for you. :winner_first_h4h:

~~~~
Snuggling up with my usual morning cup of coffee.
Feeling much better today. Probably due to crashing on the couch last night shortly after I came online. LOL, forgot to sign out last night.
I have training today, and it's close to home. I'm very glad. Maybe I'll catch up on some things I need to do if everything stays going well. :)
Hope everyone has a great day today!
Vonn07 01-29-2008 11:50 AM
didn't go to bed until after 4am .. chatting ... what fun!! :)
now -- we're suppose to get some nasty weather .. but I have a load of thrift store goodies ... and another load sitting here in the way ...
plus, I did too much .. and my legs are 'gumby-feeling' ...
barb02 01-29-2008 12:52 PM
Vonn-- great news about the copaxone
Renee -- Hope you are feeling better soon.
It has been one of [B]those[B]mornings for me. I went into school to do some work and discovered I had left my glasses at home. I cannot read or work on the computer without them. Then I went out to my car and discovered a parking ticket. I forgot to put my handicap placard on. So then I had to walk to the campus police department in the rain to explain my "misbehavior." Due to campus construction there are no close parking places. Ok I am done *itching. :mad:
I am now going to watch the rain turn into snow and eat some chocolate for lunch:):D
Vonn07 01-29-2008 12:57 PM
oh Barb .. :hug:so sorry ... don't you just want to put on some flannels and fuzzy socks and cuddle up on the couch and watch silly movies?
sorry about your day! .. I'm okay - just can't do a whole lot ... going to have to put on my 'chatting' blinders and do some homework ... and figure out some bills .. yuk!
hope your day gets better .. they've been closing schools all day .. closing at 1, cancelling night classes, 2 hrs early ... it's coming .. and it's nasty!:yikes:
tamiloo 01-29-2008 02:04 PM
Well, I'm more than a care giver to my honey...I have some horrible problems with chronic pain...I am having a day to beat everyday before it...horrible pain...none funchtioning day...
Vonn07 01-29-2008 03:44 PM
oh GOSH, Tammy ... being the caregiver is an 'angelic' position to be in .. and it hurts so much when you need some care (I know.. been where you are with my mom) ... I didn't consider it angelic - but, I let her enjoy her days ... and to this day (over 13 years) I still get 'that' feeling that I 'dun good' ... altho at the time - I thought my life was non-existent to be there for her ... but, all is well .. and now, I'm where she was - and now I KNOW what the caregiver goes thru ...
is there a friend or family member that you can just 'dump' on?? if not - PM me just to unload ... you need to do things for YOU too .. that's what I didn't do ... and was bitter for about 4 years afterwards and didn't know how to socialize with my friends or relatives....
remember - that's why we are here .. because we DO care about each other! (HUGS)
ps - I'm far from perfect or have all the answers ... but, I continue to learn ... :o
tkrik 01-29-2008 03:58 PM
Barb - YIKES! Talk about a bad day. At least it sounds as if it will end well. (Chocolate). LOL
Tamiloo - Oh dear! I'm sorry you aren't doing well today with your pain. Hopefully you will be able to rest and take care of yourself today.
Vonn - You are such a sweetie.
~~~~

Well, if I don't get my nap soon the rest of my day will be shot. LOL. I had a series of phone calls - good ones I must say.:)

Again, to all you sickies, I hope you start feeling better soon.
