Ok I'm here! First of all I have read all of ya'lls post and all I can say is we all so need a spa day!!!

I have.....the flu which turned into bronchitis and my sinuses are impacted which led to bilateral ear infections,and my lungs sound like junk! So, the doc put me on a decongestant,something for my cough,an inhaler, an antibiotic and some ear drops. If not better in five days we reassess!

The good news....I have my orientation for my gastric bypass on Valentines Day! 4 hours ack, then I have to jump thru all the hoops....nutrition counseling,psychological testing,studies of my heart,lungs and stomach,as well as my pap smear and mamo (yes Sandy I still have not had them) and then I get to have surgery they said usually in 6-8 months. I told Sandy how much I weighed today which was a huge step for me as my hubby is the only person besides my doc that has EVER known this! Just think by this time next year...I'm sending you all my bikini calendar! LOL J/K

ps - I'm far from perfect or have all the answers ... but, I continue to learn ... :o

Von, my 84 year old Mom moved in with us this past July...what a challenge. None of my family visit her anymore...don't know if it is because they think I have everything under control or if they are afraid I will ask them to help...the same thing with my honey's children.

I just have to take each day as they come...haven't been easy lately...

This Thursday Craig and I and Twinkletoes and her honey are going to a couples workshop in Provo, Utah...we will have fun!!! Gauranteeded...!! Staying over in a hotel also so it will be a short get away but needless to say a get away...

Thanks for your concern and comments....:hug:

FinLady 01-29-2008 05:16 PM

Renee, ugh! sorry to hear all that. Hope the meds help. :hug:

I do agree with the need for a spa day! :partytime2:

Tammy, sorry to hear about the pain :(

Barb, OMG! Sorry to hear about your day. ***passes Barb some chocolate chip cookies***

Vonn, Hope you stay warm with all that snow heading your way.

TK, Hope you got a nap in. Glad to hear you had some good phone calls today.

~~~~
I forgot how tiring sitting in a class was, LOL. I'm exhausted. :Zzzz:
Just planning to curl up on my couch and maybe make some coffee soon so I don't ruin my sleep schedule by falling asleep too early.
barb02 01-29-2008 05:24 PM
Renee, get better soon!
Vonn, they changed the forecast. Now we are under a wind advisory and a tornado watch. It is raining really hard right now and I probably should get off the computer.
I am doing fine. Just had an annoying morning and wanted to vent:) Chocolate did help!
Update on weather -- temperature has dropped 20 degrees in last hour and thunderstorms have turned to thunder with heavy wind and freezing rain. Hope we do not lose electricity.:(
I am here! :Wave-Hello:
Just been working around the house getting stuff ready for the big trip. You know how it is Tammy...the whole house must travel with us. I told Jim we need to buy a camper trailer, handicap accessible of course! :D
I still don't know how much I need to give my mom. We are having a hard time figuring it all out week to week. Mom is filing her w2's this next week so we'll know what she gets back. Plus he job is handing over all her vacation, sick time and personal days in one lump sum. How do I know that? I sneaked and called her work. Can you believe they told me? Shhhhh, don't tell Mom or she'll have a fit! :eek:
I just want to make sure we give what is needed and Mom agrees. I did tell her to take a weeks worth of pay and put it in a savings account for a future vacation since brain surgery isn't really a vacation. So, I told her we all need to to breath and we'll sit down and figure it all out with checkbook in hand before we come home. :rolleyes: :p
Renee, I will never tell what you told me. Pinky swear! :wink:
Our update is Jim is doing fine. He has a major pain in his upper back that happens every morning. It's like someone is taking a tazer to him and he can't move his left arm. After about 15 minutes he is fine but gosh, what is it? :confused:
That's about it. Nothing special. lol
hjmom 01-29-2008 08:33 PM
Hi All,
Hard trying to keep up with everyone in this thread....
But Renee, I hope you feel better soon. Had a touch of the flu here too, but I'm on the mend now. Good luck on your surgery. I wish I could do that. I've struggled with my weight since the birth of my 14 yo son. No fun at all. I don't think I qualify though since I'm about 50 lbs overweight.
Sandy - I pray everything turns out well for your Mom. Take care and we'll be praying for her.
My update -
Not much - I live a boring life :rolleyes: Work, work, work. DD17 had an issue where she wasn't doing her homework in Spanish and totally lied to us about it and we've taken the car keys from her and her cell phone. That makes it hard for us to have to taxi her around, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do :rolleyes: The joy of teenagers. My DS14 is totally the opposite he is obsessive about doing perfect in school, involved in everything. It's amazing how two children from the same household can be so different. I guess you always have to have one rebel. :) MS is still treating me fairly well. Not really having any problems, but I really need to take some time and exercise more. That always helps me have SO much more energy. I haven't gotten any exercise in for about a week now and I'm beginning to feel it.
Hope everyone is well and having a good night :grouphug:
Kathy
barb02 01-29-2008 08:45 PM
It is now snowing sideways. Tornado watch has been canceled. I think I should get a new job on the weather channel:)
Vonn07 01-29-2008 08:58 PM
we didn't have any daylight ... about 3pm-ish .. the blowing snow came raining/freezing down .. I didn't leave the tincondo ... what happened to our 45 ABOVE yesterday??
oh, it'll all be gone in 3 months ..
:holysheep:
well, I posted at 8pm ... and I had water .. now it's 1am .. and no water ... it's so so cold and windy out .. suppose to get a little warmer tomorrow :Melting 2:... it's the windchill that bites! .. so now I have my faucets open ... hopefully the water will thaw out here and I'll hear the water run!:Dunno:
the joys of surviving in a tincondo! LOL:nopity:
FinLady 01-30-2008 08:06 AM
Good morning all :) It's a deceptively beautiful morning here. The sun is shining, but the wind chills are in the negative range. brrr.
I'm cog-fogging and slow this morning. Thinking of calling PCP 'cuz I can't seem to shake this cold. Gotta love this weather. :rain:
NaeNae 01-30-2008 08:59 AM
hey all, hubby now officially has the crud....was up all night running fever he went into work this morning,his boss looked at him said nope go home! I am halfheartedly attempting to homeschool this morning...slow going to say the least.
The wind was blowing so hard last night it blew our screen door off and raining. Still kind of gloomy today but it is warm...until later anyway. I'm thinking my BD tomorrow is going to be just as gloomy....know for a fact hubby hasn't even so much as bought me a card...you'd think he'd figure this out by now.
Maybe I'll just go have some chocolate w/Barb....and I'll wear a mask!
sabimax 01-30-2008 09:07 AM
Von the sun is trying to come out....:wink: wow..
kids have had yesterday off now today too...due to either ice, and now the snow wind storm last night....
hugss all, checkin in, and not much time...but wanted to say hello, sarah
tkrik 01-30-2008 09:41 AM
Oh my goodness! You all are having a terrible time with this cold that seems to be going around. Take care of yourselves.
Renee - thanks for wearing a mask. Can I have a piece of chocolate? What kinds are there? LOL. It's too early in the morning for chocolate.
Sandy - DBF and I modified his motorhome to make it handicap accessible for his step dad who has ALS. It turned out great. DBF also modified the walker to make it smaller too. So much fun! We had to be creative. A toy hauler would work too! Jim can just ride up the ramp. LOL.
Von - Isn't there something that you can do to keep the pipes from freezing up like that? That's all you need right now is for the pipes to burst.
MWMS - The 1st year seems to be the hardest for many of us. Hope year 2 goes smoothly for you.
HJMom - The same thing happened to me with DD17. I took her car away too. What is in the water? LOL. It does make it hard to be a taxi drive because some days I can't drive. So, she takes the city bus. I do however, let her use my car to run errands such as picking her sister up after sports practice and things like that. DD16 sounds like your DS14. LOL
Fin - I'm sorry you are still cogging. It's so frustrating isn't it. I think out of all my symptoms, cogging is the most upsetting and frustrating.
I hope you all have a great day!
Vonn07 01-30-2008 09:53 AM
well ... going to layer-up ... and see what happened with the waterpump .. it's -12 now with a windchill of -35 to -45 .. NOW .. no school anywhere ..
the sad thing is - they even cancel the meals programs ... don't understand ..
good thing tho - the sun is shining .. will venture out to my car and see - LOL .. so, probably not going anywhere today either .. no mail, no bills! LOL
soxmom 01-30-2008 10:07 AM
Hi all, Im sorry for all who are feeling sick.:( I think I am on the mend
tho definately NOT 100%.
Too bad your dh caught it Renee. I hope all your meds help you get
better. Early Happy Birthday to you, lets hope you are feeling better
for your day.:)
Vonn, Be careful outside in weather so cold. I hope the water
comes on with no extra problems.
I am taking it easy this a.m. as I am taking my dd to Disney on ice
tonight so it will be a late night, at least for me.:)
Everyone else have a great day.
FinLady 01-30-2008 10:54 AM
Didn't get a chance yet to call PCP. Came back from PT, and they rechecked my knee's progress. I graduated. :) No more PT. **happy dance**
With all the stuff that's been going on, I'm glad for some good news.
Well, I'm off to call PCP. I think this cold has reached my chest which is not good.
A round of herbal tea for everyone. :)
:grouphug:
Vonn07 01-30-2008 11:34 AM
howdy doody all ... well, I was the bundled up packer fan .. 3 layers .. and guess what?? my heat lamp light burnt out! go figure - couldn't be on a nicer day!! LOL
good thing I bought 2 lamps when I did ... now the 2nd one is heating away ... and the faucets have all been open wide for the big gush here ... may take a little while .. but it's up to 2 above now ... and suppose to get to 14 ... PLUS, the sun is shining on the side of the pump area ... it's really really cold - but SO cool outside .. my fingers and toes hurt a bit, but I'm good!
my car started right away .. I let it run now for about 15 minutes ... but, going out to shut it off until tomorrow!
all is well - will post when the water starts! tah... tah!
barb02 01-30-2008 12:19 PM
Hope all of you are on the mend.
It seems like everyone is constantly getting sick this winter.
Vonn, Hope your water comes on soon. Be careful outside.
Finlady, don't you just love it that they always seem to wait to calll back from the doctor's at the end of the day? At least that is how mine operates.
We're up to about 12 degrees here. Somehow the wind partially knocked off the covering over my crawl space in garage ceiling. So of course I tried to push it back over the opening with a broom so the tile would not fall on my car or my head and ... you can guess what happened. :rolleyes: I'm fine. It just brushed against my head and hit my arm. I'll probably have some bruises on my arm tomorrow. We are under a winter storm advisory for tomorrow afternoon through Friday morning (4 to 8 inches of the white stuff). So I guess I am going to venture out into the cold this afternoon to pick up some prescriptions and go to the grocery store. I am thinking I need to pick up some extra chocolate:laugh:
Renee and TKRIK, should I get milk or dark chocolate? It is never too early for chocolate:D
NaeNae 01-30-2008 12:56 PM
Definitely dark chocolate! MMMM that for some reason just got me thinking of all of the vintage candy I love!
I got two packages today!!!!!!! :Birthday: Feelin the love today! And just when I could really use a pick me up!
Jenn- your gift was perfect...you couldn't have had better timing! (In case yall are curious and I know you nosy little wenches are I'll tell ya what she got me!) She got me two little Boyd's bears holding a sign that says, friendship holds you up! And the card was pretty darn cute too!
And for gift number two.......Sandy who apparently has the memory of an elephant,remembered that I import tea from China....chrysanthemum tea and she sent me a package of that in the cutest little decorative cylinder along with a darling little tea pot that for some weird reason she thought I would not use.... :Thats-Funneh:
Thanks chicas for bringing a smile to my face today as ya'll always do!!! :Thanx:
Vonn07 01-30-2008 01:06 PM
It's Renee's Birthday
OH DUH!! :rolleyes:
SEE .. I almost forgot ... of course, I asked for your birthday - then forgot to send you something!!:eek:
on it's way!;)
Catch 01-30-2008 02:31 PM
Hello
New here, but recognize a few names here from other boards. I like this daily update, wish I'd seen it yesterday when I was feeling down and lonely. Well, maybe it's better that I found this site today when I feel more myself.
I hate to complain about the weather, when so many of you live in places where it's really cold and snows. But yesterday was the first day in ten where the sun was finally out all day! The temp reached (for us) an icy cold 56 degrees! Hey with the wind chill it's about 46, and that's at least chilly.
The dirt road we live on is dry enough to drive on so I didn't have to walk up the hill to the house yesterday either. WOO HOO! Course, that's the only exercise I've been getting lately.
Still trying to come to terms with my MS dx (Nov. 2007) and my bday (just turned 47). Been having trouble with the whole "what have I done with my life so far, and what do I want to do with the rest of my time here on earth" dilemma. I have a billion things I want to do but feel like life just keeps moving faster and putting up new roadblocks.
NaeNae 01-30-2008 02:32 PM
Vonn you goose! You do not need to send me anything!!! I got your other package last week...I made it a two fer!
SandyC 01-30-2008 02:44 PM
Renee, I hope your birthday is a good one. Give the guys a chance, they may surprise you yet. Just don't hold your breath though OK? Cuz like I told ya, they are men and when they get sick it's all about them! :Scratch-Head: :nopity: :Hum: :Sigh: :Grin-Nod:
Glad you liked your itty bitty tea pot! I was nervous about it!
SandyC 01-30-2008 03:04 PM
Yikes! I forgot to update!
I spoke with Jim's doctor today. He spoke to Urology and they are going to have a conference meeting to discuss Jim's bladder. We should know something by the time we get back from my mom's surgery.
We also talked about this horrible pain Jim is having in his upper left shoulder area. Jim's doctor said he wants Jim to see the pain clinic when we come back. He is thinking some sort of shots in the area might help. Maybe steroids or cortisone would be my guess. It is very painful.
His doctor also suggested that Jim's ms could be exacerbating. He noticed last night his hands were very weak and he couldn't hold anything. Add all these symptoms up and it does sound like a ms exacerbation.
Who knows? This is to me, what is the most difficult thing about ms. You never know if it is related to ms or something entirely different. Does anyone, even the doc know for sure? Unless you have a definite dx of something other than ms, we'll never know.
He is still cleared to take the trip for my mom's surgery. The doctor said whether Jim is at home or away the symptoms will follow. Jim said he is fine for the trip, he's used to this crap.
Vonn07 01-30-2008 03:54 PM
:Birthday::Birthday::Birthday::Birthday::Birthday: :Birthday::Birthday::Birthday:
REMEMBER!! my new year's resolution was to stay on top of birthdays .. and here, I've faultered ... but, it's fun - and it gives me a REASON to make something!
:holysheep: no water yet ... but, I'll get there! it's -10 or something .. and on the rise .. tomorrow should get up to 7 and 32 by Friday!!
we're having a heat wave .. a tropical heat wave!
:pizza::ROTFLMAO::pizza:
FinLady 01-30-2008 06:04 PM
Renee, Glad you liked the gift. Was gonna get you something else, but I couldn't pass those bears up. :Birthday:
Catch, :hug: I know dealing with stuff can be hard. Glad you're feeling more like yourself today.
Sandy, sorry Jim is not feeling well, but glad the doc gave him the "go ahead" for travel so he can be with you.
Barb, glad to hear you're okay. I've done stuff like that myself, so usually it's the ego that hurts the most. :o
Vonn, Good thinking about getting two lamps. Hopefully the water will be up and running again.
~~~~~

I feel like I got hit by a mac truck. :thud:

Thankfully the PCP can see me in the morning. According to the receptionist, there's a lot of stuff going around. She wanted to get me in today when I said I think it's now in my chest, but all the docs were booked.

Just relaxing and drinking my fluids right now like a good girl. Don't worry, I'll be normal again soon. :D

NaeNae 01-30-2008 07:13 PM

See if ya'll ask me for virtual kisses again....seems I got the whole board sick!!

Welcome to the board Catch, don't worry about being in a good mood,we often post here when we feel like poop and let our friends cheer us up! We all have our moments!

They won't even yell at you too much when you complain about your temps....ok a few of them did get a little hostile when I posted pics from the beach on Christmas and NewYears but it was mostly just Sandy :p

SandyC 01-30-2008 07:25 PM

No beach pics until at least April! LOL

CayoKay 01-30-2008 08:55 PM

why, oh WHY do I never LEARN ??

today was a big day... off to the hardware store to buy blocks and cement for a new project.

then zip out to Spanish Lookout for more animal feed (corn, milo, and bran, in 50 and 100 lb bags)

then, head over to the lumber mill for wood chips (free animal bedding) which we gather by climbing a huge pile, and stuffing by handfuls into old feedbags.

THEN... our truck got STUCK in the mud, and we had to unload it ALL, get dragged out by friendly passersby, and reload all the 1000 lbs of sacks and stuff...

then, over to the veggie market for produce scraps for our zoo.

then, into town, for lunch, and postcard writing, at a sidewalk cafe.

then, grocery shopping... "What else do we need, honey?" "I dunno!"

so, why did we try to DO so much in one day?

because our truck is STILL in the shop, and we had to BORROW a neighbor's truck, so we stocked up on everything...

those transmission parts for our busted tranny must be coming from Antarctica, judging by the TIME they're taking to get here!

anyway, got home after the all-day expedition, and then had to FEED all my animals, and give a tour to some visitors...

we hadn't even eaten dinner yet, and somebody ELSE stopped by (the Bamboo Guy, over to pick up the fabric for our furniture cushion covers)

the upshot?

I'm hobbling like a 93 yr old lady, left leg draggin' back achin' and head hurtin'

:( :mad: :(

sure as heck, I'm-a gonna PAY for this day tomorrow!

prolly SLEEP all day!

:) :D :)

Then I thought does it really matter anyway, I still have to drag my sorry butt to the store. LOL Ibuprofen for now and real pain meds when I get back. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RENEE!!!!
